Chapter 8

The sun beat down on the ground, steaming up illusory white heat. Inside the classrooms, the teachers’ voices only deepened the drowsiness of summer.

With no wind at all, time seemed to pass especially slowly.

Only the students from different grades who had PE class were still full of energy.

And all the passion of this period had gathered on the tennis court.

Smack—!

With a crisp sound, the tennis ball turned into a blur in midair at an unbelievable speed.

“Whoa—!”

The spectators gathered outside the tennis court all exclaimed, feeling that this trip had not been wasted.

The person serving was Jing Qingxia. Even she had never expected that the third male lead would actually deliver such a face-slapping plot straight to her.

Su Tai had come over with a tennis racket five minutes ago to declare war.

His pathological possessiveness truly did exist.

He had only met the female lead once, yet he could come over so seriously to declare war. Jing Qingxia thought that if she did not suppress his arrogance early on, it was hard to imagine how troublesome he would become later.

When Su Tai came, he even took out the school badge Jing Qingxia had abandoned, as though he wanted to use it to hold something over her.

“Why don’t we bet on this match with an Alpha’s honor? The loser automatically withdraws.”

Seeing that, Duan Yajie immediately went up and took the badge away, then stood behind Jing Qingxia. “Even though I haven’t differentiated yet, I can still feel that this Alpha came here aggressively.”

Yuan Leshan lowered her voice and said, “This guy is an S-rank Alpha. He’s using PE class as cover to openly release pheromones right now. Even I feel a little uncomfortable.”

The corner of Jing Qingxia’s mouth twitched. He had come over to declare war and was even flaunting his identity as an S-rank Alpha with such arrogance. What kind of childish, straight-male-cancer behavior was this from the third male lead?

In this world, differentiation clearly meant adulthood. Was Su Tai’s mental development a little delayed?

Seeing Jing Qingxia’s ugly expression, Su Tai became even more smug. “If you don’t have confidence, we can also bet one month. The loser disappears from Zhong Mingxue’s sight for one month!”

Jing Qingxia was helpless. “Do you know? Not only am I Zhong Mingxue’s classmate and deskmate, I also live in the same house as her. How do you expect me to disappear? Dig a hole three feet underground and hide in it?”

“Then we’ll bet on asking the teacher to change seats! I won’t allow you to be deskmates with Zhong Mingxue! And I won’t allow you two to live together either!” Su Tai’s pathology flared up.

Jing Qingxia became even more certain that this childish guy’s mind was immature.

But the dry heat brought by the sun put Jing Qingxia in a terrible mood.

Since someone had delivered himself to her door, she might as well give him a lesson free of charge.

“I can play tennis with you. There’s no need for any wager. We’ll just compete.”

“Boss, you don’t even want the chance to drive away a love rival?” Yuan Leshan could not understand.

“There has to be some emotional entanglement for someone to count as a love rival, okay? This is clearly just a random passerby.” Jing Qingxia showed no mercy with her words.

Hearing the words “random passerby,” Su Tai’s expression turned ugly.

“And anyway, once he loses, he naturally won’t have the face to appear in front of me again. And I’m always by Zhong Mingxue’s side, so what face will he have left?”

Because Su Tai could not control his emotions, he had already thrown a tennis ball over.

Ah, adolescent Alphas. Their emotions were so unstable.

The tennis ball carried Su Tai’s anger and flew extremely fast, frightening Yuan Leshan and Duan Yajie into instinctively dodging.

Jing Qingxia, however, calmly raised her hand and caught it.

“Fine, then. Let’s begin.” Jing Qingxia’s expression was natural, treating that full-force throw as if it were just a casual pass.

Jing Qingxia’s ease stunned Su Tai.

He was a sports specialty student. After differentiating into an S-rank [bailiantales.com]Alpha, every aspect of his physical condition had improved greatly.

But under these circumstances, he was actually being looked down on by an undifferentiated prospective Alpha?

Since when had an S-rank Alpha ever suffered this kind of grievance?!

The primitive combativeness in an Alpha’s genes grew restless.

S-rank pheromones darted wildly across the tennis court, and the people around them started complaining.

“Hey, Su Tai, if you’re playing ball, then play ball. Don’t randomly release pheromones. It stinks! It smells like cheap secondhand smoke! If a patrol teacher catches you, you’re done for!” Yuan Leshan was the first to protest.

“Don’t waste words on him. I’ll go straight to the teacher.” Duan Yajie also looked as if she was about to report him.

Although she could not smell it, she would absolutely testify.

Randomly releasing pheromones could be considered a minor or major issue depending on how it was handled. If dealt with seriously, it would result in disciplinary punishment.

That one sentence made Su Tai feel humiliated, and he hurriedly withdrew his pheromones.

After all, he was still a student and did not want to challenge a teacher’s authority. There was also something more important in front of him.

Jing Qingxia did not comment.

She waited until Su Tai stood on the opposite side of the court, bounced the tennis ball twice, and lifted her chin toward him in signal.

Su Tai let out a disdainful tsk.

Jing Qingxia tossed the tennis ball high and held nothing back.

Was he kidding?

Back during the military’s fun sports meet, she had even specially practiced tennis. In the end, she had won two bags of laundry detergent from the tennis competition.

And so, a professional jump serve sliced through the air.

Smack—

“Whoa—!!!” Quite a few people around them were drawn in by Jing Qingxia’s relaxed yet lightning-fast movement.

Whoosh—

The tennis ball seemed to leave afterimages behind as it shot straight toward Su Tai’s left leg with clear purpose.

“You fucking—! Fuck!” Su Tai cursed at the same time as he fell to the ground.

Jing Qingxia, however, had not the slightest apology. Instead, she raised her hand to cast a shadow over her eyes, narrowed them, and glanced toward the sky.

“Tsk. It’s seriously so sunny. Why did I agree to play tennis?”

The girl’s beautiful hair fluttered. Her sweat-dampened side profile, illuminated by the sunlight, imprinted itself in the hearts of those watching.

“Damn it, she actually pulled that off!”

“That’s Senior Jing Qingxia from third year, right?!”

“Senior Year Class Ten, Jing Qingxia, I like you!!!”

“Sister, kill me!!!”

The confessions around her rose one after another.

Clearly, from Su Tai’s appearance and provocation to both sides preparing, only five minutes had passed. Yet the tennis court was already surrounded so tightly that not even water could get through.

She knew people were watching, but she had not expected the whole tennis court to be encircled by such a dark, dense crowd.

Was this really necessary?

It was not some top-tier match. It was just an amateur beating up a childish noob.

These high school students with nowhere to put their hormones truly loved gossip!

She walked a few steps toward Yuan Leshan, trying to use her tall figure to block the short girl behind her. “What’s going on? Why are there so many people?”

“Well, they just gathered to watch without anyone realizing it. Boss, you’re famous again.” Yuan Leshan could not help laughing.

“I don’t want to be famous.”

Who knew whether this would create more trouble again?
