The Male Lead's Sister Reborn (GL) - Chapter 29
Within half a second, Shen Xiruo pushed Fang Yingxu away. She pushed with such force that Fang Yingxu stumbled back repeatedly, nearly falling over.
Shen Xiruo kept her gaze fixed on Jiang Qian, subconsciously explaining: “He’s a childhood friend, the son of a friend of my father’s…”
Jiang Qian walked over awkwardly, but still reached out to give Shen Xiruo a brief hug, smiling as she said: “I really didn’t expect you to come too.”
But the hug lasted only a second before Jiang Qian pulled away, letting the others step forward to greet Shen Xiruo.
Fang Yingxu stood to the side, sensing the awkwardness himself. He rubbed his head and apologized to Shen Xiruo: “Ahahaha, sorry! It’s been so long since we last met, I got a bit excited just now, haha, a bit excited.”
Shen Xiruo ignored him. After greeting the others politely, she sat down next to Jiang Qian and finally spoke to Fang Yingxu in a cold voice: “Since you know you were wrong, go sweep the floor for Qianqian.”
Jiang Qian: “Huh?”
Fang Yingxu was stunned for a moment, then smiled and nodded: “If the Queen gives the word, then of course! I was your Chief Knight when we were kids, after all!”
Shen Xiruo nodded coldly.
The production team’s cameras were filming frantically.
Fang Yingxu didn’t hesitate at all; he dashed upstairs to start cleaning. Jiang Qian stood there in a daze and tugged on Shen Xiruo’s sleeve: “Hey, are you really letting him go?”
Shen Xiruo said coldly: “He’s lucky I didn’t hit him; what’s a little cleaning?”
Jiang Qian felt that Shen Xiruo was a bit scary in this state, so she silently withdrew her hand and stood a bit further away.
Once the house was tidy, everyone picked a room. Jiang Qian and Shen Xiruo were both on the second floor, staying in adjacent rooms. Fang Yingxu stayed next to Shen Xiruo, and the male model Cheng Yue was also upstairs. The other two were downstairs.
The observation group watched silently for a while. The girl who shipped the CP bit her lip, alternating between excitement and calm. Once the first day’s move-in and cleaning ended, she said cautiously: “It seems Shen Xiruo and Jiang Qian have a great relationship, but what exactly is the deal between Fang Yingxu and Shen Xiruo? Does anyone know?”
The group remained silent. Most of them were elites from various industries or fan leaders; they weren’t unfamiliar with the name Shen Xiruo, but they didn’t know her personally. After all, she was a CEO, not an entertainer, and news about her was rare.
However, someone knew a bit about Fang Yingxu: “I heard Fang Yingxu’s family is in City A. They’re very rich—he’s the young master of a family business, and singing is just a hobby. If that’s the case, it’s not impossible for him to have grown up with Shen Xiruo.”
“Wow, if he doesn’t make it big, he has to go home and inherit the family fortune…” Everyone sighed in amazement.
The next day, the production team knocked on everyone’s door promptly at seven to wake them up. By the time Jiang Qian went downstairs, there was already a queue for the only small bathroom… Left with no choice, she stood behind Wan Yue, yawning and disheveled.
The production team filmed the “grand occasion” of the bathroom queue, leaving the fans in the observation group in awe: “Oh, my poor baby Zixi! So many people are waiting for him to use the toilet…”
“Your baby is poor? My Yuewue is even more pitiful! Don’t you know how much trouble it is for a girl to get ready in the morning? Look, she can’t even force a smile anymore.”
“Hahaha, Jiang Qian is the funniest. Her yawn is so wide you could fit an egg in it. Too real!”
“And did you notice? Wan Yue came out wearing foundation, but Jiang Qian is completely bare-faced. But her skin base is really good, very firm. That kind of face is perfect for trying out every kind of makeup look…” A makeup artist in the group couldn’t help but want to roll up her sleeves and go do Jiang Qian’s makeup herself.
Jiang Qian finished freshening up as fast as possible. When she came out, she saw Shen Xiruo already bringing food out of the kitchen.
Jiang Qian looked surprised: “My god, when did you get up?”
Shen Xiruo: “I woke up at six, went for a morning run to check out the surroundings. Come here, let’s eat.”
Jiang Qian sat down and saw a table full of soup dumplings, lean meat porridge, soy milk, and deep-fried dough sticks, as well as fried eggs and ham. It wasn’t exactly a feast, but in this remote place, it couldn’t have been easy to buy all this.
Wan Yue walked over, saw the food, and exclaimed: “Awesome! Everyone, come over, breakfast is ready! Xiruo, you’re amazing, where did you buy all this?”
Shen Xiruo glanced at her smartwatch: “There’s a town square five kilometers away with many breakfast vendors.”
Jiang Qian narrowed her eyes, eating a bun while looking at her: “Five kilometers! You got up early and ran five kilometers!”
Shen Xiruo nodded and smiled at her: “Want to run with me tomorrow morning?”
Jiang Qian shook her head at lightning speed.
Just then, Fang Yingxu came downstairs yawning. He was already fully dressed and even wearing foundation—the epitome of a “refined boy.” He saw the breakfast and saw Shen Xiruo wearing an apron, so he knew she had bought it. He scurried over to her like a puppy: “Ruoruo, after all these years, you’ve not only become more beautiful but more domestic! Is this breakfast prepared specifically for me? The Queen is still as good to her Knight as when we were kids!” He winked at her as he spoke.
Shen Xiruo said: “You’re not allowed to eat.”
Fang Yingxu: “…Why!”
Shen Xiruo: “You’re too noisy.”
Fang Yingxu made a zipping motion across his mouth and sat down pitiably. While the others ate merrily, Fang Yingxu didn’t touch a thing, looking at Shen Xiruo woefully. Finally, Cheng Yue handed him some soy milk and a bun: “Eat something, we have to work in the fields later.”
Fang Yingxu looked at Shen Xiruo expectantly. She raised an eyebrow and nodded. Only then did he start eating. Jiang Qian watched their interaction, finding it a bit strange; she felt the relationship between Fang Yingxu and Shen Xiruo was truly not simple.
After breakfast, the official tasks began. The directors gave them mud boots and protective suits before leading them to a field.
The director announced: “Your main task today is to help the farmers harvest vegetables! You will be ranked based on the quantity collected. The highest scorers will get a premium lunch and priority picking for tomorrow’s task!”
The field was divided into different zones with colored ropes, all planted with mature Chinese cabbages. They were truly going to be vegetable farmers. Jiang Qian found it interesting. After learning the technique from the farmer, she charged into the field. She grabbed a plump cabbage in both hands and pulled with all her might.
Thud! She sat straight down on the ground, hurting her butt.
“Ow… that hurts!” The cameraman filmed her frantically, while the observation group burst out laughing.
“Cabbages have a lot of strength in them; you have to be careful, little girl,” the farmer said with a laugh. This wasn’t easy work.
Amidst the laughter, Shen Xiruo, who was in the adjacent plot, rushed over and gently pulled Jiang Qian up by the arm. She brushed the dirt off her and asked softly: “How are you? Did you hit your old injury?”
Jiang Qian shook her head and smiled: “It’s fine, it just hurt for a second.”
Shen Xiruo turned to the director: “Director, can I be in a group with her?”
The director refused: “Groups were settled before we started; no switching. You can help others after your own group is finished.”
This did it. Shen Xiruo let go of Jiang Qian, turned back to her plot with Cheng Yue, and began attacking the cabbages like she was on a mission.
The director yelled: “Start!” Every group bent down and began pulling cabbages like crazy.
Jiang Qian didn’t let the setback bother her and continued pulling with a laugh. She recalled the farmer’s movements and noticed a “twisting” motion before pulling, so she tried it. Feeling the roots loosen, she pulled to the side and successfully uprooted a massive cabbage.
“Hahaha, it’s not that hard!” Jiang Qian’s partner was Jiang Zixi. This veteran actor had strength but lacked technique; he pulled and pulled, but instead of cabbages, he just ended up panting. Jiang Qian helped him with a few, demonstrating as she explained: “See, twist like this, then pull. Strip off the outer leaves and leave them as fertilizer…”
Jiang Zixi leaned in to look. From an outside perspective, it looked like they were whispering intimately. The camera captured some misleading shots.
Observation group: “Wow! I feel the pink atmosphere!” “Handsome man and beautiful woman, they really match!”
Suddenly, the camera cut to Shen Xiruo in the distant field. Her face was dark, and she was tearing cabbage leaves with startling force. The observation group went silent with fear, only whispering after the camera moved away: “Did I just see killing intent…?”
Following the method, Jiang Zixi pulled out a cabbage. Jiang Qian laughed and patted him on the back like a “bro”: “Hahaha! A great teacher produces a brilliant student. You really have some talent; your master is very pleased!”
However, Jiang Zixi lost his balance, and Jiang Qian’s pat accidentally sent him face-first into the dirt.
The whole place erupted: “Hahahaha! Holy crap, what a violent girl!” “She looks so pure, I didn’t expect her to be such a ‘man’!” “That power… even as a guy, I couldn’t do that. She’s a pro!” This little interlude established Jiang Qian’s “Pure but Violent Tomboy” persona for the audience.
After a frantic effort to pull Jiang Zixi up, seeing him covered in mud, Jiang Qian laughed uncontrollably while looking for a wet wipe for him.
Shen Xiruo suddenly appeared. Unbeknownst to everyone, she had already finished pulling all the cabbages in her plot and had come to help Jiang Qian’s group. In the blink of an eye, the cabbages in Jiang Qian’s field were almost gone. Jiang Qian rushed in to grab the very last one, pulling it out with a straight back: “I’ll handle the beautiful finale!”
Shen Xiruo looked up, her face dripping with sweat, losing her “ethereal” look, which made Jiang Qian feel bad for her. She handed over a wet wipe, but Shen Xiruo gestured that she was still wearing gloves. Jiang Qian naturally reached out, stood on her tiptoes, and helped wipe the sweat from Shen Xiruo’s face herself.
Since she wasn’t standing very steadily on the mud, she swayed a bit, and Shen Xiruo wrapped her arms around her to help her stand straight. Shen Xiruo couldn’t help but smile at Jiang Qian. Jiang Qian’s heart skipped a beat; she smiled back and, while gently wiping the other’s long eyebrows, mouthed the words: “You look so beautiful.”
Two beauties, one tall and one short, standing together and smiling while wiping each other’s faces—the scene was so beautiful that the camera couldn’t resist using a soft-focus slow-motion shot.
The observation group went collectively insane: “Aahhhh! They match so well! I’m shipping this pair!!!”
“RuoQian CP, get on board! This is peak sweetness!”
“Mom, I’m in love! They are too beautiful and too sweet, I’m dying!”
