Transmigrated as the Villain’s Sword - Chapter 66
The stone room was deathly silent.
Ling Chenyan watched Guan Luowei’s breathing grow heavier and her eyes turn colder. She hurriedly tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to stay calm.
Guan Luowei was naturally calm; she knew the Demon Pearl was valuable to the enemy as well, so Zhen Xuzi was likely bluffing and wouldn’t actually crush it. But it was only a “likely.” Against a man who could personally murder his own sect’s ancestor, Guan Luowei didn’t dare gamble.
Reason told her she couldn’t reveal herself now, but there are many things reason cannot control. That pearl didn’t just contain her mother’s soul fragments; it was the lifeline of the entire Demon Race.
So, when Ling Chenyan reached out to tug her, Guan Luowei’s eyes flickered. She whispered a low “I’m sorry.”
Ling Chenyan froze. She saw Guan Luowei quickly trace an array with her fingers to shield her, and then her figure vanished from the spot.
Almost the instant Guan Luowei appeared, the air solidified. A wave of sinister, foul energy flooded the entire space, bringing a nauseating stench wherever it touched. Before Ling Chenyan could even react, a massive cloud of black mist struck Guan Luowei with lightning speed. Guan Luowei’s small figure stood in stark contrast to the overwhelming black fog.
Ling Chenyan screamed: “Highness, watch ou—”
BOOM!
The end of her warning was swallowed by a deafening explosion. The brutal attack landed, and the shockwave blasted the ground with a shattering roar. Ling Chenyan felt the earth shake as the small stone room collapsed. Countless rocks fell from above, and thick clouds of dust billowed upward.
“Highness!” Ling Chenyan cried out.
There was no response. As the dust settled, there was only a massive crater where Guan Luowei had stood. But as the haze cleared further, Ling Chenyan saw her standing perfectly intact, a faint demonic aura swirling around her.
“I’m fine. Do not come out,” Guan Luowei’s voice rang in her ear via a private transmission.
Ling Chenyan knew then that she was safe, but an ominous premonition still clouded her heart.
The black mist spoke, its voice sounding like grinding stones: “Your strength isn’t bad. Worthy of this General’s personal attention.”
Guan Luowei ignored him. Before striking, she cast a subtle, nearly imperceptible glance toward Ling Chenyan’s hiding spot, as if telling her to stay hidden. Then, she vanished again.
In an instant, they had exchanged a hundred blows. Ling Chenyan was trapped by the array and couldn’t get out. She could only watch helplessly as the black mist and Zhen Xuzi teamed up to besiege Guan Luowei.
Ling Chenyan spat in disgust. “Shameless! Two against one!”
As soon as she spoke, Zhen Xuzi was suddenly kicked out of the fray. He looked at the sky in disbelief. “Why?”
The black mist’s grating voice replied, “Don’t hold this General back.”
“…”
Seeing Zhen Xuzi’s humiliated face, Ling Chenyan almost laughed out loud. Suddenly, she felt this “Evil Thing” was better than the Lingxiao Sect—at least it had the dignity to fight one-on-one.
With the opponents reduced to one, Ling Chenyan wasn’t as worried. But the relief was short-lived. She noticed Guan Luowei’s movements becoming sluggish. The woman who had been holding the upper hand was gradually falling into a disadvantage.
The system explained: [Evil energy is toxic. It corrodes the internal organs, slows movement, and causes a loss of sanity.]
Ling Chenyan asked calmly: [Is there a way to reduce the impact?]
[Kill it, or use a Divine Artifact to suppress it.]
Without a thought, Ling Chenyan pulled out the Deceptive God Zither. The music carried a magic that pierced through the evil energy, cutting through the suffocating atmosphere. Guan Luowei finally found a moment to catch her breath.
But at that moment, a blur appeared before her. The old man, Zhen Xuzi, appeared with his hand shaped like a claw, lunging straight for Ling Chenyan’s heart.
Fortunately, his claw struck Guan Luowei’s defensive array. A flash of light erupted. Zhen Xuzi’s eyes widened, and he jerked his head aside just in time, but he still lost half an ear to the counter-shock. Blood drenched the side of his face, looking grotesque and bloody.
Ling Chenyan was startled by his sudden appearance and instinctively ran back, only to slam hard into the boundary of the array. She clutched her face with an “Ow!” and looked at the old man, whose expression was growing increasingly sinister. Her skin crawled.
She wanted to run, but she was trapped. Zhen Xuzi realized this too. He turned back and gave Guan Luowei a hideous grin. “I’d like to see which is stronger: your array or my attack.”
Guan Luowei was locked in combat with the black mist and couldn’t afford to be distracted, but seeing Ling Chenyan trembling there, her eyes turned cold. she adopted a reckless, self-sacrificing style of attack just to break free.
The black mist realized the situation as well and let out a cackle. “So, you care about her.”
Guan Luowei’s attack missed, her eyes icy.
The black mist continued, “Focus on our duel. You disappoint me. In that case, if I kill that girl, you’ll be able to focus on me, won’t you?”
“You dare?!” Guan Luowei’s power exploded, her demonic energy finally erupting in full force.
Seeing her ignited with rage, the black mist laughed cruelly. “Kill the girl.”
Zhen Xuzi grinned. “By your command.”
The demon and the evil being above were now playing for keeps. Every clash caused mountains to crumble and space to collapse. Meanwhile, powerful masters and sect scouts across the land looked toward the Lingxiao Immortal Sect with grave expressions.
Ling Chenyan remained remarkably calm. Seeing the array shaking under the constant attacks, she wasn’t worried. She even shouted to the frantic Guan Luowei, “Highness, I’m fine! Watch yourself!”
Zhen Xuzi snorted, his spiritual energy expanding. The moment the array shattered, he lunged with a vicious glare. Ling Chenyan twisted her body and transformed into her sword form. “Jinjin!”
Zhen Xuzi and his lethal attack were frozen mid-air for a split second. Ling Chenyan took the chance to fly away like a streak of light. As she flew, she taunted, “Catch me if you can~!”
Zhen Xuzi was only frozen for a second, but his fury was now fully ignited. “Little brat, die!!”
Ling Chenyan had two reasons for staying in sword form: one, the blade was durable; two, it was very fast for escaping. But Zhen Xuzi’s strength was immense. He was about to catch up when she shouted again: “Jinjin! Your turn for a solo!”
Golden light flashed, and the zither rang out. Zhen Xuzi faltered again, and Ling Chenyan zipped away. After several rounds of this, Zhen Xuzi was fuming. He stared death at her, but suddenly his body jerked to a stop again—only this time, when he regained movement a second later, the momentum of his high-speed chase nearly sent him face-planting into the dirt.
He looked up in a rage, only to see the girl making a face at him from a distance, saying words he didn’t understand: “It’s called inertia, you get it?”
Zhen Xuzi didn’t get it. His sanity was being scorched away by her teasing. Realizing he couldn’t catch her, he began to use long-range attacks.
The attack was too sudden. Even with the speed of a sword, she couldn’t dodge it—especially since she was busy being a smart-aleck. Proof that one shouldn’t gloat: Ling Chenyan was laughing one second and felt a tearing pain in her chest the next. She crashed into a crater.
Zhen Xuzi appeared over the pit, his face twisted. “Go to hell!”
Guan Luowei had been watching. Seeing the brutal blow about to land, she turned without hesitation and bolted toward Ling Chenyan. The black mist didn’t miss the opening; even with her defenses up, she felt a burning pain in her back and smelled blood in the air.
She didn’t make it in time because of the black mist’s interference. Guan Luowei watched the attack land, her blood freezing, her heart nearly stopping.
The explosion went off, followed by Zhen Xuzi’s wild, arrogant laughter. In the ensuing silence, only his cackling remained.
But a second later, the laughter stopped abruptly. Zhen Xuzi flipped back to dodge a counter-attack, looking at the silver sword wobbling in the ruins with pure shock. “You…”
“Your ‘daddy’ isn’t dead yet. Surprised?” the silver sword spoke in an eerie tone.
She wasn’t dead, but it really hurt. It hurt so much that she figured Guan Luowei would need to kiss her a hundred times to make it better. She looked at the old man and gave a sinister smile. While Zhen Xuzi was wavering in doubt, a shimmering amber appeared in her hand.
Zhen Xuzi’s eyes bulged. “You dare!?”
“Is there anything your ‘daddy’ doesn’t dare?!” Ling Chenyan had abandoned being a lady; her face was full of the “villainous evil” look. “Toss your ancestor!”
In an instant, the amber transformed into an old man who unleashed his ultimate move: “Vibrating Mountain Punch!”
The old man’s voice rang like a massive bell. Zhen Xuzi was forced to block. The collision of spiritual energy exploded in the air. Zhen Xuzi spat blood, his eyes nearly popping from their sockets. Ling Chenyan watched the old man’s spirit fade, then looked at the trembling Zhen Xuzi and smiled. She pulled out another amber. “Heads up! Here comes Ancestor Flyby!”
On the other side, seeing Ling Chenyan was safe, Guan Luowei finally relaxed. But this couldn’t go on; they were on enemy territory. Using a sound transmission, she spoke to the girl: “End it quickly. Take the Demon Pearl.”
Zhen Xuzi spat another mouthful of blood and looked up to see the girl with a handful of ambers between her fingers. She smiled at him. “Toss your ancestors!”
Zhen Xuzi: “…”
Looking at the circle of ancestors surrounding him, his face turned pale. He roared, “You think this can defeat me—”
Before he could finish, one of the ancestors punched him into the dirt, leaving only his head sticking out.
Ling Chenyan: “…Pffft, hahahahahaha!”
The black mist above finally cursed in frustration. “Useless! Useless! Kill her for me!”
The evil energy in the air surged. “Stagnation…”
The air was rapidly corrupted. Even Guan Luowei felt her speed drop for a moment. This spell didn’t affect Guan Luowei much, nor did it affect Zhen Xuzi who was half-evil, but it did freeze the spirits from the ambers—and Ling Chenyan below.
In a flash, Zhen Xuzi lunged out of the ground with a grin. “DIE—”
Spiritual energy expanded in Ling Chenyan’s vision. In that split second, she could see every wrinkle on his face and Guan Luowei in the air, shouting something to her.
In the blink of an eye, the attack was upon her. Zhen Xuzi, seeing her not dodging, had his face twisted like a withered flower. Just as the attack was about to hit her face, he hit nothing but air.
The giant sword that had been frozen there seemed to disappear into thin air.
Shocked and enraged, he turned to find her. A voice spoke softly right in front of him: “Looking for me?”
Zhen Xuzi: “!”
A sudden pain pierced his chest. He looked down in disbelief to see the six-foot giant sword had somehow shrunk to the size of a dagger, buried in his heart. It even casually snatched the Demon Pearl from his robes.
The girl’s voice remained clear, even amused: “Surprised? This lady can shrink, too.”
