Transmigrating into a Scumbag Alpha, a Dainty Omega is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 27.1
Northern Hemisphere, winter.
Shuncheng Fifth Prison.
The weather remained bitingly cold as a light snow began to fall from the sky. Large snowflakes drifted quietly onto Li Rang’s shoulders. She couldn’t help but shiver, her gaze as cold as ice, her fingers a raw red, and her fists clenched tight.
In her eyes, the only thing colder than this winter was the variety show titled Wives’ Honeymoon Trip. Jiang Cha had actually accepted the show, and she and Xiao Yun appeared so incredibly sweet together. It felt as if her heart was bleeding.
“It can’t be. Jiang Cha would never like a profligate socialite. Besides, Xiao Yun is faking it—I’m sure of it!” She stood frozen by the laundry sink for a long time, her face grim.
“No. 6.” Xinran walked toward her carrying a pile of clothes. “What are you dazing off for?” As Xinran drew closer, she saw the TV on the wall playing the variety show. The one flaunting affection was none other than Li Rang’s ex-wife. Xinran took the opportunity to comment: “They look very much in love.”
Attracted by her voice, Li Rang turned her head, a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth. “Perhaps.”
“You aren’t still thinking about your ex-wife, are you?”
Li Rang turned to walk away, and Xinran followed beside her with her washbasin. According to Xinran, she was about to be released because she had found a very good lawyer to fight her case. Xinran’s family had connections; as long as Li Rang smiled at her more and maintained a good relationship, Xinran could help her.
Li Rang had yet to find a reliable lawyer. Although her family had money, they lacked the right connections. If her second appeal failed, she would likely stay in prison for ten years—or three at best. She worried that by the time she got out, Jiang Cha might already have children with someone else.
“Xinran,” Li Rang suddenly smiled at her. “I’m not thinking about her. The past is the past; one must look forward.”
“It’s good that you think that way.” Xinran stared at her with large, crystal-like eyes, looking shy. “Actually, I’m a bit reluctant to leave you.”
Li Rang followed her lead. “I want to get out early too, but I don’t know any good lawyers. I failed the first trial.”
“Why didn’t you say so sooner!” Xinran’s slender hand lightly brushed against her fingertips. “I know people.”
The corner of Li Rang’s mouth twitched—the fish was on the hook. “That wouldn’t be right; my case isn’t easy to resolve,” she said, playing hard to get.
“It’s no big deal. However, if you want to hire a lawyer, the fee…” Xinran lowered her eyelashes. “You know, my father controls the finances, and I haven’t earned any money myself.”
“That’s a small matter. Any amount is fine. The main thing is, I want to get out as soon as possible.” Li Rang spoke excitedly. “It’s also so I can see you sooner.”
Xinran tucked a lock of hair behind her ear, revealing a fair neck that was flushing red. “Then, once the money is transferred, I’ll contact you as soon as I can.”
“Mm-hm.”
As the sun rose in the east, the sea and sky were dyed a bright orange-yellow. The morning heat rolled into the villa with the sea breeze, waking everyone’s restless hearts. At that moment, a knock sounded at the door.
“Miss Xiao, are you awake?”
Xiao Yun had just gotten up to wash. Hearing the voice, she hurried to the door, assuming it was the production crew and quickly smoothing her hair. Opening the door, she found a man in a baseball cap holding a square box. “Are you Miss Xiao Yun?”
Xiao Yun nodded. “That’s me.”
“Your package has arrived. Please sign for it.”
Xiao Yun was stunned. A package? Seeing the box and the return address, she immediately understood. “Alright.” She took the pen and fluently signed her name.
Mei must be incredibly fast—what kind of shipping did she use for it to arrive overnight? Is this the speed of the wealthy?
Inside, Jiang Cha was curling her hair. She looked at her. “Did you buy something?”
“It’s just…” Xiao Yun started to speak, but remembering they had business in the morning—and that the cameras weren’t around yet—she decided not to miss an opportunity for some “affection.” “It’s the pillow I bought.”
Jiang Cha curled the other side of her hair. “What pillow? Let me see.”
Xiao Yun set the box aside. “I’ll show you later.” Jiang Cha didn’t press further, though she looked suspicious. She had slept well last night, dreamless. Her skin was supple and smooth. Without makeup, she looked young and soft, but once she applied eye makeup and lipstick, she instantly became cold and enchanting.
Director Liao Yanyan used a megaphone to call everyone for a meeting, emphasizing repeatedly that everyone must bring their bikinis.
Xiao Yun grabbed a bag and packed her relatively conservative black bikini top and a pair of small shorts. After all, she was “plain”—aside from her long legs, there wasn’t much to show off.
Jiang Cha was squatting by her suitcase, looking distressed over which bikini to choose. Xiao Yun didn’t dare interfere, simply placing her bag on the floor. “Once you’ve chosen, put them together.”
Jiang Cha nodded. “Okay.”
A moment later, Jiang Cha had made her choice, wrapping it in a black bag and placing it on top of Xiao Yun’s. Xiao Yun saw the black bag and smiled secretly. How conservative is Jiang Cha? She’ll have to wear it for everyone to see in a bit anyway. She didn’t ask, simply adding two bottles of sunscreen and some towels, shawls, and headwraps to the bag.
On the bus, Xiao Yun held the bag in her left hand and the package in her right, sitting in the front row with Jiang Cha. The host and director boarded, and the cameras began scanning the group. Liao Yanyan did a head count and re-explained the competition rules.
“Everyone, pay attention. The sun is strong, so make sure to apply sunscreen.” She began handing out life-saving wristbands. “If you accidentally fall into the water, press this button immediately.” Liao Yanyan demonstrated: “Press here, and you’ll float to the surface.”
One of the Omega wives asked: “If everyone is rowing, why would anyone fall in?”
Liao Yanyan smiled. “It’s a competition. If you fall off the boat, you lose. To win, both partners must stay on the boat until they reach the finish line. If one falls in, you fail.”
“What if both sides fall in at the same time?”
Liao Yanyan held up the megaphone. “Then you restart.”
Simply put, there were no rules for this race.
Xiao Yun felt conflicted. Beside her, Xia Yueyao was smiling and leaning into the arms of her Alpha, looking incredibly happy—likely because their “marking” had trended and exploded that morning.
“My Alpha is a swimming champion,” Xia Yueyao bragged. “If you fall in and can’t reach your wristband in time, she’ll save you. Don’t be afraid.”
Xiao Yun scoffed. It was just swimming, yet she acted like she knew some high-level technology. The bus fell silent as a graveyard; no one paid her any attention. Only the director hummed in agreement: “Yes, don’t be afraid. We have professional lifeguards and medical staff on-site. Once we arrive, change into your gear immediately and we’ll begin the race. Understood?”
Everyone answered in unison: “Understood!”
Each couple was assigned a room. The production crew intentionally made things difficult by putting both partners in one room to change, with staff standing guard outside as if afraid they’d run away.
Xiao Yun and Jiang Cha had changed in the same space before, so Xiao Yun was natural about it. “We’ll change back-to-back. Turn around when you’re ready.”
Jiang Cha nodded and reached for the clothes. Simultaneously, Xiao Yun reached in too. Their hands brushed together. The atmosphere froze for a second, and Jiang Cha’s eyes flickered away.
Xiao Yun broke the ice. “It’s the height of summer; why is your constitution still so cold?”
Jiang Cha retracted her hand. “My constitution is naturally cold.”
Xiao Yun handed her the black bag. “Then your period must be very painful.”
“How do you know?” Jiang Cha took the clothes.
Xiao Yun grabbed the remaining swimwear and turned her back to her. “I’m a doctor, remember?” With that, Xiao Yun crossed her arms, grabbed her T-shirt, and pulled it off in one quick motion.
Jiang Cha didn’t have time to turn around and saw her fair, slender back—lean shoulder blades and a frame significantly larger than her own. She gripped the bikini and took a sharp breath as the Alpha’s lemon-scented pheromones hit her nose.
Xiao Yun reached behind her back, using her index and middle fingers to deftly unhook her bra with one hand. Jiang Cha was stunned and hurriedly turned around, her hands trembling and her fingers digging into her palms.
“I’ll prepare some herbal medicine for you when we get back. I’ll make sure you’re fixed up,” Xiao Yun said as she unzipped her pants and stripped. She kicked off her pants and slipped into the bikini, putting denim shorts over it. After all, she didn’t want her backside filmed; it wasn’t graceful. As for her chest? She looked down—completely negligible.
She finished changing, but the person behind her hadn’t moved. “Jiangjiang?”
“Huh?”
“Are you ready?”
“Not yet,” Jiang Cha said softly. “Could you… could you…”
Xiao Yun turned around. Jiang Cha hadn’t even started undressing, her emotions unreadable. “I’ll go out first while you change.” The little ancestor is in a bad mood; better make an exit.
As Xiao Yun pushed the door open, the cameras turned toward her in unison. Some of the other wives who had already changed also looked over.
“Xiao Yun, your legs are so long,” Honey’s Alpha said enviously.
“Thanks.” Xiao Yun patted her thigh and sat down on a designated lounge chair.
The sea breeze was pleasant, and the scenery was beautiful. The beach was filled with people sunbathing in bikinis, with no sense of embarrassment. Xiao Yun sipped her orange juice, scanning the other couples. Most were dressed conservatively, covering their backsides.
Soon, Xia Yueyao and her partner walked out, hand-in-hand. Both were wearing black-and-white string bikinis, and the scene immediately grew lively. “Wow, as expected of Movie Queen Xia.” She was truly wearing a “bikini.”
Xiao Yun glanced over and nearly spat out her juice—the two of them were barely covered. As expected of the boundary-pushing couple; they really commit. It was almost at the point where blurring would be required. The two waved graciously at the cameras and walked toward Xiao Yun, as their lounge chairs were right next to hers.
“Miss Xiao, where is Cha Cha?” they asked warmly.
Xiao Yun smiled. “She isn’t ready yet.” She put on her sunglasses and lay back to look at the sea.
