Transmigrating into a Scumbag Alpha, a Dainty Omega is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 33
Since this variety show was a nationwide broadcast, the people in prison likely saw it too. Therefore, as Jiang Cha’s “official” Alpha, Li Rang, she must be staring at the screen with bloodshot eyes, gnashing her teeth in a frenzy:
“How dare you touch my wife’s back! Touch my wife’s hands! I’ll break them!”
Despite the summer heat, Xiao Yun felt a chill down her spine. She threw on a denim jacket and took a long time to steady herself before starting the car.
Jiang Cha sat in the passenger seat. After a long day of playing, she was tired, leaning her head toward the right side of the car to keep her distance. Fundamentally, Jiang Cha still felt a sense of rejection toward her. It was only because Xiao Yun was a Beta that Jiang Cha had let down her guard.
To put it bluntly, as a Beta, could she mark anyone? Could she father a child? Could she make an Omega go into heat, lose their mind, and attack her? No. Thus, Jiang Cha had relaxed.
Yet, Xiao Yun was the one suffering. Jiang Cha was half-asleep, her soft face looking deceivingly sweet, her cherry-like mouth appearing as if it held honey. Calling out “Yunyun” this and “Yunyun” that—it was enough to make anyone’s bones go soft.
Hmph, Xiao Yun thought as she drove in silence.
They drove all the way to the seaside as the sun set, dyeing the clouds a vibrant orange. Jiang Cha hadn’t woken up yet. Xiao Yun opened the window, letting the sea breeze flood the car, and reached her hand out to feel the summer heat.
About ten minutes later, the production crew began to press them. She turned her head, intending to wake Jiang Cha. By chance, a beam of light hit Jiang Cha’s face, adding even more radiance to her stunning features. Jiang Cha was truly too beautiful; it was almost blinding. Her snow-white skin, raven-feather lashes, and full red lips carried a natural allure. Was anything more beautiful than this sunset?
“Jiangjiang.”
With the cameras rolling, Xiao Yun reached out to brush a stray lock of hair from Jiang Cha’s face, revealing her clear features.
“Mm.” The “little kitten” frowned, her tongue lightly licking her lips before she struggled to open her eyes. “Are we there?”
“Yeah. Time for dinner.” Xiao Yun retracted her hand and helped unbuckle her seatbelt.
As they got out, Jiang Cha looked dazed and sleepy. She walked beside Xiao Yun, occasionally hooking her hand onto Xiao Yun’s shoulder as they headed to the designated restaurant. The sky darkened quickly, and the sea breeze turned chilly. The cold air finally woke Jiang Cha up.
The restaurant had a Southeast Asian vibe, with dim lighting and hanging orchids. After they sat, the waiter recommended the local specialties: baby lobsters, king crab, coral trout, and shark fin.
Xiao Yun handed the menu to Jiang Cha. “You order.”
“What do you want to eat, Yunyun?”
“Anything. I don’t eat crab, but you can order it.” Xiao Yun paused. “Actually, you shouldn’t order it either.”
Jiang Cha looked up. “Why? Crab is delicious.”
“Crab is ‘cold’ in nature. Your period is painful enough; you definitely shouldn’t eat it. No, absolutely not.” Xiao Yun waved her hand.
Jiang Cha muttered, “Aren’t you a doctor? You should be able to help patients relieve their pain.”
“I’m a doctor, not the Goddess of Mercy. I can’t manifest a miracle pill out of thin air to cure everything.”
Jiang Cha burst out laughing.
Xiao Yun continued, “Patients never listen, which is why they recover so slowly.”
“Alright, alright. I’ll listen to Yunyun.” Jiang Cha bowed her head to order. She chose a mix of seafood, beef, a few vegetable dishes, and two bowls of pork rib soup to warm the stomach.
Jiang Cha huddled into herself, shivering. “It’s a bit cold.”
Seeing the shivering “kitten,” Xiao Yun stood up, took off her denim jacket, walked behind Jiang Cha, and gently draped it over her shoulders.
Jiang Cha’s eyes sparkled. “Aren’t you cold?”
Xiao Yun shook her head. “I have strong Yang energy.”
Jiang Cha slid her arms into the sleeves. They were still warm from Xiao Yun’s body heat, instantly chasing away the chill. She pulled the jacket tight, feeling deeply touched. The garment still carried the scent of the lemon pheromones; even though she knew it was synthetic, she had grown so used to it that it felt real. It had a grounding effect.
Xiao Yun sat back down, her slender, elegant hands lightly folded. The veins on the back of her hands were prominent, her nails were short, and her fingertips were a healthy pink. Jiang Cha had been held by these hands all afternoon; sitting behind her, Xiao Yun had been like a warm furnace, driving away the cold from her body.
“So cold,” Jiang Cha whispered, tapping her fingers on the table while staring intently at Xiao Yun.
Taking the hint, Xiao Yun reached out and grasped her hands. “They really are freezing.”
Jiang Cha smiled, her fingers interlacing with Xiao Yun’s. “How long until the food arrives?”
Xiao Yun stared back, though her heart was actually in a state of panic. “Are you hungry? Want some bread first?”
Jiang Cha shook her head playfully, refusing to let go of her hand. Xiao Yun swore that no one in the world was a better actor than Jiang Cha, and no one could refuse a woman’s gentle acting.
They sat like that, hand-in-hand, staring at each other and smiling like idiots for ten minutes until the tuna sashimi finally arrived. Xiao Yun couldn’t wait to let go.
The tuna sashimi came in only three pieces. As Xiao Yun wondered why, a three-meter-long tuna was wheeled out. The chef, a male Omega, deftly sliced into the belly, head, and tail, revealing the bright red meat. Xiao Yun picked up a piece of belly meat, dipped it in seafood sauce and wasabi, and held it to Jiang Cha’s lips.
Jiang Cha’s red lips were as vivid as the tuna. She opened her mouth slightly, her tongue curling around the fish as she chewed. She frowned slightly and laughed, “A bit too much wasabi.”
“I’ll use less for the next piece,” Xiao Yun said, feeding her a piece from the tail dipped in lemon juice.
After Jiang Cha finished three pieces, Xiao Yun asked which part she liked best. Jiang Cha pointed to the white underbelly. “The belly meat.” She turned to the chef. “Just cut the meat from the belly.”
“Certainly, miss. Please wait a moment.”
Xiao Yun watched the chef’s fluent knife skills. For some reason, seeing the fish being carved into pieces made her think of herself.
“How do they catch such a long tuna?” Jiang Cha asked curiously.
“Because it liked its fellow fish-wives and disrupted the order of the sea, so they hauled it up,” Xiao Yun joked. Aren’t I just a fish on the chopping block myself?
Once the tuna was sliced, she pushed it toward Jiang Cha.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Xiao Yun shook her head. “I don’t really eat seafood.” Bullshit, she thought, she felt like Jiang Cha had ordered this dish on purpose.
The chef wheeled the remains of the fish away, and dishes of shrimp, beef, and scallops followed. Xiao Yun finally ate a few bites. How was she supposed to tell Jiang Cha that even if she knew Xiao Yun was a Beta, she couldn’t toy with her so recklessly? Eating the Angus beef and sipping the expensive wine, she felt like she was having the Last Supper.
Jiang Cha couldn’t handle her alcohol; after only three sips, her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were watery. On the walk back, Jiang Cha clung to Xiao Yun’s arm, her burning forehead resting on Xiao Yun’s right arm. Xiao Yun felt like Jiang Cha had a vendetta against her right arm; she might as well detach it and give it to her.
“Whoops.” Jiang Cha stumbled in her heels and fell into Xiao Yun’s arms.
“Careful.” Xiao Yun steadied her by her soft waist, her palms sweaty.
The cameras followed them all the way to their door. Once the door closed, Jiang Cha suddenly seemed stone-cold sober, stepping away from her. “I’m going to take a shower first.”
Wow, Xiao Yun thought. She used me for the cameras and threw me away the second they stopped.
Fuelled by a bit of residual anger from being “toyed with” all day, Xiao Yun grabbed Jiang Cha’s wrist and pulled her back. Jiang Cha stared at her in panic. “Yunyun?”
Xiao Yun picked her up, tossed her onto the bed, and hovered over her. She slid her fingers along Jiang Cha’s waist and up toward her chest. Jiang Cha was too scared to make a sound. Xiao Yun unbuttoned the top two buttons of her dress.
“What are you doing!” Jiang Cha kicked her legs, but Xiao Yun pinned her down. Xiao Yun leaned down to inhale the rose scent at her collarbone.
“Xiao Yun, have you gone mad!”
Xiao Yun pulled back, leaving a faint red mark on her skin. “Now you know what it feels like to be teased?”
“You…”
“Miss Jiang, I’m a Beta, not asexual. Since you know I’m a Beta, you’ve let down your guard completely. Do you really have no sense of self-protection against me?” Xiao Yun inhaled the scent of her hair. “It smells so good.”
Jiang Cha looked away piteously. “What did I do to you?”
“You asked me to rub sunscreen on you, talked about ‘digging holes,’ and held my hand at the table. Did you really think nothing would happen? I’m a Beta, but I have a mouth, hands, and strength.” She touched the back of Jiang Cha’s neck.
Jiang Cha’s eyes glazed over. “Don’t… Yunyun, I belong to Li Rang. Don’t touch me.”
“I won’t touch you. But please, show me some respect from now on.”
“Okay, Yunyun. I’ll listen to you.”
The shower stopped. Jiang Cha came out of the bathroom and looked at Xiao Yun, who was lying on the bed laughing to herself. Xiao Yun hadn’t drunk much; how was she this drunk? On the way back, she had insisted she was sober, but without Jiang Cha’s support, she would have been a puddle on the floor.
“Yunyun, what are you laughing at?” Jiang Cha sat beside her.
Xiao Yun shook her head and murmured, “Jiang Cha, you have to listen to me from now on.”
“Oh.”
Strange, Jiang Cha thought. The famous Second Miss is known for her high alcohol tolerance. She must have had some fake wine. Jiang Cha helped her take off her heels and moved her legs onto the bed. Xiao Yun was surprisingly obedient, slipping into a drowsy, semi-conscious sleep.
Jiang Cha brought a bowl of warm water and a cloth to gently remove Xiao Yun’s makeup. She paused while wiping her lips, staring at her for a moment.
“Jiang Cha…” Xiao Yun whispered.
“Yes?” Jiang Cha leaned in.
But Xiao Yun said nothing more. Jiang Cha sighed and began wiping Xiao Yun’s hands. She noticed the thick calluses from holding a scalpel, which contrasted with the otherwise delicate skin. She recalled Xiao Yun using these hands to rub sunscreen on her earlier, and her cheeks grew warm. Exhausted, she lay down and fell asleep hugging her teddy bear.
Xiao Yun woke up in the middle of the night to find Jiang Cha facing her, hugging the bear in a sexy nightgown. She sat up abruptly. Wait, didn’t I just tell her to keep her distance? Then she saw the hangover soup and washcloth on the table.
She slapped her forehead. The whole ‘threatening Jiang Cha’ scene was just a dream! In a dream, you can have anything. She hurried to the bathroom to wash her face, realizing Jiang Cha had already removed her makeup for her. She showered and then couldn’t sleep.
She went to the balcony to look at the stars. She thought about the unreality of this world and her old life as a surgeon.
“Miss Xiao, is something bothering you?” Jiang Cha had woken up and was standing at the balcony door. She sat down beside her.
“Nothing. Did I say anything weird to you earlier?”
Jiang Cha pinched the bear’s ear. “You said I have to listen to you.”
Xiao Yun’s hair stood on end. “Anything else?”
“No.”
She let out a long breath. “Jiang Cha, I have a small request. We’re acting, but can we… skip the unnecessary physical contact?”
Jiang Cha’s face turned bright red. “Am I… too close to you?”
“No, no! It’s not your fault!” Xiao Yun waved her hands frantically. “It’s my own problem. I know you don’t mind because I’m a Beta, but I’m a Beta who likes women. Having too much contact with you is… difficult.”
Jiang Cha’s face grew even redder. She hadn’t asked about Xiao Yun’s orientation. “I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful.”
“What kind of women do you like then?” Jiang Cha asked softly.
Xiao Yun’s smile froze. “The cute type,” she said, choosing a word that was the polar opposite of Jiang Cha.
“Cute? Do you prefer Alphas, Betas, or Omegas?”
To further prove she wasn’t a threat, Xiao Yun leaned back. “You’ll be shocked. I don’t like fragile women. I like the… ‘muscle Barbie’ type.”
“Pffft!” Jiang Cha looked relieved. “That might be hard to find, but I believe in you.”
Xiao Yun thought: Well, if being a fan of muscle Barbies keeps me safe, then so be it.
Halfway through the honeymoon trip, Director Liao Yanyan was ecstatic. The “Yun-Jiang” couple was ranked first by a landslide.
“Director,” the male Omega host said, spraying himself with sunscreen. “It’s 39 degrees today. Are we still filming outdoors?”
“We’ll cancel the beach games. The heat will mess with the Omegas’ pheromones. We’re filming indoors today.”
“Indoors! Is it the swimsuit competition?”
“No,” the director grinned. “It’s called the ‘Balanced Boat Scramble’!”
An hour later, they were at the indoor pool. Xiao Yun wore a black one-piece, while Jiang Cha wore a red-and-white bikini set. Jiang Cha had her hair pinned up, appearing even more elegant.
Several foam “boats” floated in the water: circles, squares, stars.
“Today’s game is called ‘The Last One Standing’,” the director announced. “Five couples will draw lots for boats and equipment: oars, water guns, or foam hammers. You have to stay on your boat. You can attack others but you can’t pull hair or bikini straps. If both partners fall in the water, you’re eliminated. Understand?”
Everyone answered in unison. Xiao Yun already imagined everyone pulling and shoving on the floating boats.
“This show shouldn’t be called Wives’ Honeymoon Trip; it should be called Wives’ Battle Royale!”
