Chapter 32 – Drunkenness
Ji Mian never expected that she and Xu Zhixia would have another variety show together.
It was Happy Talk Show.
Happy Talk Show was a nationally renowned interview variety show with high ratings, loved by all ages. Even getting on it once was quite an achievement.
When Ji Mian debuted after the talent show, she had a massive fanbase and ranked first in popularity, yet she never appeared on it. Their current appearance was for promoting their drama.
Ji Mian called Xu Zhixia to ask about the company’s arrangements for her.
Xu Zhixia, however, replied playfully, “You come over to my place. If you butter me up, I’ll tell you.”
Ji Mian: “…”
Ji Mian thought about it and decided to go anyway.
Xu Zhixia was overjoyed to see Ji Mian, immediately hugging her and laughing, “Mian Mian, I knew you would come.”
In reality, Ji Mian wasn’t just interested in asking Xu Zhixia about the company’s plans; she primarily wanted to see her.
Xu Zhixia was manicuring her nails, her long, pale fingers looking like white onions. She was lounging carelessly on the sofa.
“Mian Mian, I’m so hungry. Let’s go out to eat.”
Ji Mian nodded, then thought better of it and shook her head: “Let’s not. It wouldn’t be good if we were photographed.”
Xu Zhixia laughed: “Just let them be rumors. It can both build buzz for the drama and give the CP fans something to obsess over. Isn’t that killing two birds with one stone?”
Hmm… That was true, but she still felt it would be troublesome.
Ji Mian asked, “Don’t you want to eat here?”
Xu Zhixia raised an eyebrow: “You’re so thoughtful. What if I suddenly go crazy and try to do you in public? That wouldn’t be good.”
Ji Mian: “…”
Xu Zhixia chuckled: “Mian Mian, what are we eating tonight?”
Ji Mian asked, “What did your manager tell you? Are they deliberately trying to pair us up as a CP?”
Xu Zhixia placed her hand on Ji Mian’s shoulder and said, “I’ll tell you tonight, okay? Just sleep with me, and I’ll tell you everything.”
Ji Mian: “…” What does this person think about all day long!!
In the evening, Xu Zhixia ordered takeout: barbecue and spicy hot pot again.
Ji Mian frowned: “You really should stop eating this. It’s not good for your health.”
Xu Zhixia laughed softly: “But I really want to eat it! You can’t just forcefully control me!”
Ji Mian conceded: “Then eat just a little.”
Xu Zhixia gave her a flirty look: “Got it!”
Ji Mian ate a lamb skewer, dusted with cumin and chili powder. The aroma was strong; it was incredibly fragrant. No wonder Xu Zhixia ate so much of it.
Xu Zhixia brought out a bottle of red wine. Ji Mian asked, “Are you drinking wine?”
“I’m so happy to drink with Mian Mian.”
Generally, barbecue is best paired with beer, but Xu Zhixia might never have drunk beer before. Her house probably only had red wine or more red wine.
Ji Mian said, “I don’t drink red wine. What if I get drunk?”
Xu Zhixia raised an eyebrow: “Then I’ll just have to reluctantly let you stay the night.”
Ji Mian: “Reluctantly…”
Xu Zhixia took a sip and continued, “Reluctantly let you do me.”
Ji Mian: “…” Can you be serious for once?
Xu Zhixia first decanted the wine. Her movements were skilled and elegant, but her eyes held a seductive, captivating look.
She poured a glass for Ji Mian. Fortunately, the wine had a lower alcohol content, so Ji Mian could handle it. Still, her face couldn’t help but flush red.
Xu Zhixia elegantly took a sip, propped her chin, and said to Ji Mian, “Mian Mian, you look so charming.”
Xu Zhixia’s features were naturally bright and striking, and she was cold and noble, yet she thought Ji Mian was the most beautiful.
Ji Mian laughed: “Aren’t you charming too?”
Xu Zhixia shook her head: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I still think you’re much prettier than I am.”
Ji Mian held her hand and said, “Xia Xia, I have something to talk to you about.”
“What is it?”
“While your mother has agreed, how should we handle your father?” Ji Mian was a person who overthought things and struggled with complicated issues. Even though Xu Zhixia wasn’t worried, Ji Mian still felt the need to worry!
Xu Zhixia scoffed disdainfully: “Mian Mian, don’t worry. No matter what, I’m going to be with you.”
Ji Mian said, “Just don’t hurt your father’s feelings.”
Xu Zhixia laughed awkwardly, saying nonchalantly, “He’s too busy socializing with other women right now.”
Seeing a slight redness in Xu Zhixia’s cheeks, Ji Mian was surprised: “Why is your face so red?”
Xu Zhixia was slightly tipsy: “When you went to the bathroom just now, I drank the entire bottle.”
“I thought you said you were good at drinking?”
Xu Zhixia laughed out loud and let out a soft sound: “Mian Mian, did you forget that the alcohol I usually drink is beer, and beer usually has a low alcohol content!”
Ji Mian: “…” Nani!!
Xu Zhixia hiccupped. She drank another bottle. Ji Mian quickly helped her up and said, “Let’s go to sleep.”
Xu Zhixia gently hugged her and laughed, “I know you want to sleep with me.”
Ji Mian understood the implied meaning in her tone. This “sleep” was definitely not just sleeping.
Ji Mian said exasperatedly, “You talk too much when you’re drunk.”
Xu Zhixia said, “This isn’t just drunken truth-telling. I really want to sleep with you, don’t I?”
Ji Mian had no choice but to help her to the bed. Xu Zhixia immediately collapsed onto it. Her bed was big and soft, and Xu Zhixia let out a comfortable “Mhm.”
Ji Mian took off her coat and said, “I’ll go shower first.”
“Shouldn’t you shower with me?” Xu Zhixia suddenly stood up and said coldly.
Ji Mian said, “Aren’t you drunk?”
Xu Zhixia replied, “But I’m drunk, and I’ll stumble in the shower. Aren’t you afraid I’ll fall?”
Ji Mian found it hard to believe she was truly drunk, given how clearly she spoke.
She took Xu Zhixia’s hand: “I’ll help you wash. Don’t touch me, or you’ll get wet.”
“Okay,” Xu Zhixia said sweetly, but then immediately pulled her hand away from Ji Mian’s.
“If you won’t let me hold you, how can I wash you?” Ji Mian asked.
Xu Zhixia stared at Ji Mian blankly for a long time and burst into laughter: “Hahahahaha! I knew you wanted to peek at my body! I won’t let you wash me.”
Ji Mian scoffed and quickly carried her horizontally, “If you won’t let me wash you, I’ll wash you anyway!”
Xu Zhixia leaned into Ji Mian’s arms: “Go ahead and bully me. I don’t mind.”
Ji Mian: “…” She’s really drunk.
While washing her, Ji Mian expected Xu Zhixia to be noisy, but she was quiet the whole time. Even when Ji Mian accidentally rubbed her too hard, Xu Zhixia didn’t complain.
After covering her with a bath towel, Ji Mian carefully carried her to the bed.
Xu Zhixia closed her eyes, seeming to drift off to sleep.
Ji Mian went to brush her teeth. A moment later, she heard Xu Zhixia talking on the phone.
She’s drunk. Why is she calling someone?!
Ji Mian quickly rushed back, knowing it could lead to big trouble.
She heard Xu Zhixia shout: “Ji Mian and I are dating! I’m in a relationship, hahahahaha.”
Ji Mian grabbed the phone and heard a man’s voice shouting from the other end: “Xu Zhixia, what are you saying?! You’re dating someone?!”
“I’m dating! Mian Mian and I are together!!” Xu Zhixia yelled frantically.
Ji Mian quickly hung up the phone. She checked the contact log and saw that the person Xu Zhixia had called was her father!
Xu Zhixia suddenly leaned in for a kiss and smiled: “Mian Mian, give it to me. I want it~ I want it~” Ji Mian couldn’t resist and was pulled down by her.
