A Disguised Scum Alpha Marked Her Aloof Ex-Wife - Chapter 3
Glass shattered, and the scent of roses mingled with the dripping of fresh blood.
Amidst the swirling yellow sands, a bulky, old-fashioned aircraft pierced through the clouds. Under the astonished gazes of the Alphas, it continued to accelerate, slicing the gale in two.
Their instinctive thought was that Zhu Yu had abandoned the Princess to flee alone. However, the room was empty, save for a blood-stained cloak.
“Pursue!” The Grey Wolf’s expression shifted rapidly until it settled into a ruthless snarl. Zhu Yu could leave, but she absolutely could not take the Princess!
Their equipment was decades ahead of Zhu Yu’s. How could they let this inferior Alpha snatch away their prey?
Silver-white aircraft streaked through the sky in formation. For a split second, the sun’s reflection revealed the family crests that had been buffed away.
Zhu Yu slammed the throttle to the floor. Blue sky and white clouds whipped past the wings. She kept her eyes locked dead ahead. Her head slammed back under the massive inertia, and her chin was propped up by the Princess’s helmet. Fortunately, the sharp pain kept her conscious, preventing her from blacking out.
Despite being an Aerospace Engineering major, she never imagined she’d actually be “going up” one day.
Inopportunely, Zhu Yu remembered her driving instructor always saying, “Are you trying to fly a plane or what?” Well, now she actually was. A hysterical laugh bubbled up in her chest.
Her mouth was filled with the metallic taste of blood. The old system finally finished its sluggish boot-up sequence, and a rhythmic electronic female voice spoke:
【Welcome back. The glory of the Empire is with you.】
The mechanical voice felt oddly familiar, like the pre-recorded prompt before an English listening exam. Fragmented memories from the original owner began to resurface. Zhu Yu shouted, “Enable Auto-Cruise!”
“Enable Level-2 Shields!”
“Turn on the AC!”
“Turn on everything we’ve got! Shake off the people behind us!”
The electronic voice paused for a few seconds before stating firmly: 【Confirmed. All presets activated for you.】
The first thing to turn on was, bizarrely, the audio system. From the mesh speakers puffed a cloud of white smoke as a soulful, high-fidelity saxophone rendition of “Going Home” echoed through the narrow cockpit.
As the aircraft stabilized, Zhu Yu finally had a hand free to check on Bai Shuzhou. The ice in her mouth had completely melted. She pointed the AC vents toward herself, but the cold air couldn’t disperse the inner heat; the haunting scent of roses seeped into the very marrow of her bones.
The woman in her arms was terrifyingly hot, as if she had just been plucked from a hot spring. She was soaking wet, biting her lip to keep broken moans from escaping, but the unbearable agony had clearly exceeded her threshold. She unconsciously leaned against Zhu Yu’s chest, nuzzling into her.
Deep green vines coiled around Zhu Yu’s waist and wrists. With a soft pop, vivid roses bloomed at the site of her jumping pulse, their petals shimmering with a golden glow.
Distraught, Zhu Yu wiped away her tears over and over. They seemed never-ending, soaking Zhu Yu’s collar. The low whimpers flowed into the wounds on Zhu Yu’s arms—salty and stinging.
How can I help ease her pain?
Zhu Yu tentatively embraced Bai Shuzhou, her hands gently patting the woman’s trembling spine. Whenever she had felt unwell as a child, she had been comforted this way.
“Mmph…!”
With lowered lashes, the woman suddenly bit down hard on Zhu Yu. All her grievances and resentment were channeled into her teeth, sinking into the snow-white skin, vowing to make their pain grow together.
Zhu Yu hissed in pain but didn’t stop. She held Bai Shuzhou tighter and whispered, “It’s okay, it’s okay. We’re safe. No one will hurt you again, I promise.”
The golden light spread across her palms, brightening with every movement. As if encouraged, it flowed between their touching skin—clear, soft, and impossibly light.
The aura unique to the girl surrounded her, soft as a cloud. The cool night breeze slightly alleviated the agonizing heat. Bai Shuzhou lifted her pale blue eyes and, through the dim light, looked at Zhu Yu’s sharp jawline.
It took her a moment to pull herself from the chaotic haze. Her legs, long since numbed by pain, gradually regained a spark of sensation. As the warm current flowed through her limbs, Bai Shuzhou spoke in disbelief: “You have… a healing ability?”
“Uh, I don’t know.” Zhu Yu let go, and the light began to recede, dissolving into the air like fading fireflies.
She remembered that abilities were triggered by spiritual power and that only a tiny fraction of high-tier individuals could awaken them. The Imperial Academy of Sciences had a department specifically for this; they would kidnap ability users for experimentation.
But she was a transmigrator! This was essentially “borrowing a corpse to return a soul,” which was way crazier than an ability. If she were found out, wouldn’t she be dissected on the spot?
Zhu Yu shivered and asked uncertainly, “Does that make you feel any better?”
The woman’s cold, pale blue eyes met hers again, her expression becoming complex. Her bitten lips parted and closed before she finally gave an extremely restrained nod.
“That’s good then.” The gland at the back of her neck was burning. Zhu Yu’s throat hitched; she didn’t dare embrace Bai Shuzhou again, so she just took her hand, trying her best to channel that energy into her.
But the light flickered in and out. No matter how hard Zhu Yu tried, it wouldn’t grow. Instead, she ended up squeezing Bai Shuzhou’s hand until it turned red, the thin skin looking as if it might tear at any moment.
In recorded history, only Grade A and above could manifest abilities. Zhu Yu was a D—little more than bottom-tier trash.
Years ago, when Bai Shuzhou, with her 3S spiritual power, had chosen her, it caused a massive uproar. Nobles angrily decried it as a desecration of superior genes, but the Tree of Life had declared their compatibility a perfect 100%.
Was it because of this?
Bai Shuzhou’s expression became unreadable. She called out softly, “Zhu Yu, come here.”
The girl obeyed, flinching slightly as her wrist got closer. The rose fragrance hit her full force. Zhu Yu closed her eyes.
She was terrified the woman was going to slap her again. Even a soft hand stung when it hit your face.
But instead, the woman pulled off her mask.
Zhu Yu’s eyes snapped open in surprise, looking straight into those pale blue depths. Their breaths mingled, melting together; the taste of blood spread between their lips.
Bai Shuzhou’s wrist wrapped around the back of her neck, pinning her with an air of authority that left no room for retreat.
The golden aura surged wildly. Zhu Yu felt as if they were falling together into a bed of roses, every point of contact incredibly soft.
She cooperated unreservedly with the woman’s demands, moving from a trickling stream to a vast ocean… slender fingers tangled deep into her hair as the woman deepened the kiss.
Silver-white strands intertwined with black hair. For a moment, Zhu Yu felt like a scholar whose essence was being drained by a fox spirit. Her vision blurred, and she began to see double.
But Bai Shuzhou was so beautiful, so fragile… how could she be a fox? She was her wife.
She had a responsibility to protect her.
But why is she crying?
Her brain, starved of oxygen, could no longer think. Zhu Yu reached out dazed, wanting to wipe away Bai Shuzhou’s sorrow and pain.
Her spiritual domain was completely open, unguarded, softly filling the broken cracks, constantly deepening and spreading, viscous and ambiguous.
The light reflected in Bai Shuzhou’s eyes, nourishing the vines until they grew rampantly. Bunches of roses swayed, crushed in their heated embrace, leaking crystal-clear sap.
One dies when spiritual power is exhausted.
Bai Shuzhou’s slender fingers trembled. This is what Zhu Yu owes me! All her pain came from her. What right did she have to put on this gentle, innocent act, looking at her like that?
The girl’s fingers weren’t soft; they were rough in a way that didn’t match her age, covered in scars. They touched her cheek with agonizing care, wiping away the tears.
“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. It’s okay. I will definitely get you home safely.”
Zhu Yu pulled back slightly, cupping Bai Shuzhou’s face. Although she had never been in love, she knew a kiss was supposed to give both people happiness.
Bitter tears wetted the corners of her mouth. She rubbed them away with her thumb, the light pulsing as it covered the tiny wounds on the woman’s lips.
“If you don’t like it, we don’t have to do this. We’ll find another way. It’s okay.”
“Don’t be afraid…”
In that instant, the tears could no longer be suppressed.
A cold mechanical voice interrupted: 【Sorry to disturb, but I must warn you: we have been locked on by a Moroson tracking missile. Shall I initiate a communication request with the target?】
【Auto-pilot is insufficient to evade a missile of this precision. Suggest switching to manual operation.】
Zhu Yu snapped back to reality, looking up in shock. A missile?
The radar showed that the group of Alphas had caught up. The mounted missiles glinted coldly in the sunlight.
Are they crazy? The Princess is still in here!
The current Emperor doted on his only younger sister. Zhu Yu didn’t believe they dared to fire; harming royalty was a capital offense.
“Request call!”
【555, the target has declined.】
Zhu Yu froze. What does that mean? Is the system trying to act cute? (Note: “555” sounds like crying in Chinese slang).
【444…】
Zhu Yu: “What is this countdown?!”
System: 【The missile.】
Zhu Yu: “Then why are you so calm? You’re going to be scrapped too! Think of something!!”
【Please switch to manual operation and perform an Interstellar Jump. I believe in you. You are humanity’s strongest—】
Static interference crackled.
Zhu Yu instinctively looked at Bai Shuzhou. She didn’t want to be complimented by a broken system at a time like this. The woman’s warmth still lingered on her lips, and in the face of death, even the scent of roses seemed to fade.
I am humanity’s strongest “trash-tier snack,” a “crispy” college student. I haven’t even finished my internship period for a manual car license. I’m not even allowed on the highway without a supervisor.
Pulling away from the soul-consuming fragrance, Zhu Yu realized they were currently flying at high speed. She was already feeling dizzy and weak in the knees.
But Bai Shuzhou was also looking at her, her pale blue eyes shimmering with points of light from the washed-away tears.
【333, 222—】
Zhu Yu grit her teeth: “Perform Interstellar Jump!”
A jump involved leaping between coordinates in the universe. She couldn’t believe this ancient machine could execute such a thing, but with dead ends in every direction, she had to gamble.
It was better than waiting to die on the spot.
Zhu Yu gripped the controls with both hands. Her spiritual power interfaced with the system. Instantly, a sharp pain shot through her spine. Simultaneously, her vision expanded, moving from the cockpit into—the Universe!
She felt her body becoming uncontrollable, her senses becoming ethereal. The missiles behind them seemed to move in slow motion as space began to collapse and reorganize.
The ethereal electronic voice spoke again:
【Welcome back. The glory of the Empire is with you.】
…
Firelight. Spinning stars. And those ice-cold hands.
They were engulfed by darkness and fell.
It felt more unreal than a dream, yet Zhu Yu strangely felt no fear.
Bai Shuzhou was gripping her hand tightly, their fingers intertwined. For the duration of a breath, the lines on their palms overlapped. This time, she wasn’t alone.
Like Alice falling into the rabbit hole, everything was bizarre, and the world was receding from them.
In a daze, Zhu Yu felt as though she had been falling like this all along—only to fall into a world where Bai Shuzhou existed.
If she continued to sink like this, would she return to her original world?
It was safe and warm there. No matter when she returned, there was always a hot meal waiting.
But what about Bai Shuzhou?
Mom, can I bring her home?
Mom…?
