A Disguised Scum Alpha Marked Her Aloof Ex-Wife - Chapter 36
The bone-chilling aura surged and churned. The pure-white corridor had turned into a snowfield.
The raging wind hurt as it whipped across one’s face. Faced with an unfamiliar crisis, the human survival instinct would subconsciously want to avoid it.
But Zhu Yu raised her hand and, against the wind, approached step by step.
In front of the half-open door, a massive snow leopard used her body to firmly block the gap. Frost had condensed over her thick fur as she gritted out, “The princess has lost control again. Hurry and report to His Majesty—”
“No! There’s no time. Call Director Feng!”
Another snow leopard brought up her mental power. Without the slightest hesitation, she swiftly charged toward the end of the corridor.
Yu Yan had already retreated to a corner between gasps, breathing in huge mouthfuls.
Goloriel half-knelt on the floor, her face pale as paper. This powerful pressure left her almost unable to breathe. Her legs softened uncontrollably, wanting to kneel and submit.
She stared fixedly at Zhu Yu’s back as she walked against the wind, her eyes full of disbelief.
Why was she unaffected?
The snow leopard tried her utmost to block most of the door, baring her fangs at the young woman. Her voice was hoarse.
“Your Highness, you cannot go any closer.”
“I am the princess’s partner. There’s nothing I can’t do. She needs me.”
Zhu Yu’s voice was not loud, but it carried a strange, unquestionable certainty, clearly entering the wind and snow.
She slipped nimbly past the snow leopard’s side and shut the door behind her.
With a soft click, the snow leopard’s sharp claws only managed to graze the corner of her clothes.
Seeing that Zhu Yu had truly gone inside, Goloriel gritted her teeth and tried to force herself to follow. But an even stronger pressure slammed her back down to the floor, and she violently coughed up a mouthful of blood.
She greedily stared at that door, as though gazing at supreme power itself.
Why could Zhu Yu do it, but not her?!
Her bones creaked under that natural suppression. Goloriel supported herself against the wall and inched forward bit by bit. Just as her trembling fingers were about to touch the handle, the impatient Snow Leopard Knight pressed them down with one paw.
At this moment, blood was flowing from the woman’s eyes, mouth, and nose. The sight was shocking, yet she herself seemed completely unaware. Like someone possessed, she kept trying to force her way forward, desperate to replicate Zhu Yu’s success.
The dripping blood was freezing.
A growl rumbled from deep in the snow leopard’s throat.
“Back down!”
Arching her body, the snow leopard firmly blocked the door, her cold face making her seem like a guardian deity stationed there. Yet it was not to prevent danger from invading, but to…
Suppress the danger from spilling out.
Inside the room was another world.
Time seemed frozen here. Every instrument was covered in a thin layer of ice. The cameras flickered with dangerous red lights, and the golden glow refracted through the transparent ice. The heat exhaled between lips and teeth turned into faint white smoke.
It was too cold.
For a moment, Zhu Yu thought of Bai Shuzhou’s dream from before.
That nightmare.
A warm yellow glow rose in Zhu Yu’s palm. Deep green vines gently twined around her arm, leading her inward like an invitation.
The warm woody fragrance intertwined with the cold rose scent. It was an attraction born from biological instinct.
But when she approached the edge of the bed, what Zhu Yu saw was an enormous cocoon tightly woven from vines, separating Bai Shuzhou from the outside world.
“I’ve lost control.”
Bai Shuzhou’s voice came from inside the cocoon, calm to the point of almost indifference.
“Don’t come near me.”
Her aura was very cold. That sharp chill had already surpassed the rich fragrance of roses. It was the purest, untamed mental power, filled with wildness and vitality.
Zhu Yu squeezed those flexible vines and sat down at the bedside. She gathered warm mental power at her fingertips and slowly pulled apart the layers of tangled vines, wanting to dig Bai Shuzhou out.
Bit by bit, with extreme patience, she parted those resistant vines.
The gap gradually opened.
The first thing that entered her view was a strand of flowing silver-white hair, softer than the finest silk, yet shimmering with the cold light of snow.
Then came the delicate tip of a nose, pale tightly pressed lips, their lines perfect yet filled with distance.
Finally, those pale blue eyes lifted lightly.
Bai Shuzhou emphasized coldly, “It’s dangerous.”
Although her mouth spoke words of rejection, when Zhu Yu’s knuckles truly suddenly paused, Bai Shuzhou could not help biting her lip.
“If you’re hesitating, then why continue?” she asked, her voice carrying a trace of nervousness even she did not notice.
Zhu Yu answered honestly, “Ah, it iced over. My hand just stuck to your vines.”
Touching iron railings outdoors in winter also gave a similar experience. A physical sense of being pulled.
The vines were peeled away layer by layer. Bai Shuzhou saw light leak in, followed by Zhu Yu’s smiling brows and eyes. The light shone through her hair, outlining a soft golden rim that made her look fluffy.
“Hi.”
Zhu Yu bent her fingers, pretending to knock.
“May I come in?”
She poked the vines. These were formed from mental power, so by all logic, Bai Shuzhou should be able to feel it.
Frost and snow seemed to gather between Bai Shuzhou’s brows. She bit her lip with extreme restraint and did not move.
Only those pale blue eyes watched Zhu Yu without blinking, as if appraising her, and also as if trying to cross the barriers of time and flesh to reach straight into the depths of her soul.
“You won’t hurt me.”
Zhu Yu covered Bai Shuzhou’s hand with her warm palm, and her healing ability slowly flowed between their touching skin.
That out-of-control mental power melted softly under Zhu Yu’s hand, thick and sticky like honey.
“Mm…!”
It had only been a joking way of saying it, but she had not expected the vines to truly open a path, dragging Zhu Yu inside too.
The narrow distance between them collapsed in an instant.
Zhu Yu braced herself above Bai Shuzhou. Dots of warm light danced like fireflies, illuminating Bai Shuzhou’s snow-white hair.
At such a close distance, she looked fragile as a breakable work of art. The faint blue veins at her neck trembled slightly, and the sound of her heartbeat was especially clear in the silence.
Zhu Yu could not help holding her breath, suspecting that her own burning breath had stirred the butterfly resting on Bai Shuzhou’s eyelids, making those beautiful curved wings flutter.
In the silence, she felt the warm light in her palm being drawn away and swallowed strand by strand. Then the vines slowly bloomed into strange, gorgeous roses, their soft petals brushing over her skin and sending a tremor through her.
This time, Zhu Yu clearly realized that Bai Shuzhou was actively absorbing her energy.
Slowly, yet continuously.
With an almost instinctive, irresistible hunger.
It was like squeezing a cat treat onto one’s fingertip and waiting for that normally proud, icy cat to take the initiative to come closer and taste it. It might even lightly scrape its barbed tongue over the skin, bringing tiny stings and an indescribable intimacy.
A tingling numbness spread from the lightly touched skin throughout Zhu Yu’s entire body.
She looked down at the person beneath her.
Bai Shuzhou still had her eyes closed. Her long, dense lashes cast a small shadow beneath her eyes. The expression on her face remained cold, even carrying the indifference of a deity accepting offerings.
Yet those vines twined around Zhu Yu with intimate greed.
This enormous contrast made Zhu Yu’s heartbeat stumble by several beats.
She clearly liked it very much, but Bai Shuzhou suddenly stopped.
Her thin voice brushed past Zhu Yu’s ear as she asked, “Just now, what were you thinking? Why didn’t you resist?”
Even from far away, she had still sensed the change in Zhu Yu’s pheromones, from a faint clean fragrance to something bitter and wronged.
She had subconsciously wanted to go out and check, but she had just undergone a round of treatment. Her suppressed mental power had already reached a critical point, and her numb legs still could not move freely.
Although she could not see what was happening outside, listening to Goloriel’s sharp, aggressive voice, she could almost imagine how much humiliation Zhu Yu was suffering.
Bai Shuzhou’s senses were abnormally sensitive. The young woman’s unwilling whimpers and the breath squeezed out of her chest when she was pressed down by the paw were all infinitely magnified in her exhaustion.
And Bai Shuzhou could do nothing.
Messy memories flashed back again and again. She saw, on a pure-white snowfield, that girl who sweetly called her “Sister” curl up in pain. Clearly, she had a chance to leave, yet she stubbornly held Bai Shuzhou’s hand tightly. A rose about to wither drooped to the ground.
Then the girl slowly grew cold and stiff, and even the tightest embrace could not bring her a trace of warmth.
Am I not the dragon with the best talent and strongest ability?
Why?
Why can’t I do anything…!
Shouldn’t this damned ability be considered a curse?
Her nails dug deeply into her palm. Bai Shuzhou closed her eyes. She hated this powerlessness, and hated the out-of-control version of herself even more.
Born under everyone’s expectations, yet unable to uphold the duties she should have carried.
“Are you angry because I was bullied?”
Two fingers quietly touched the back of her hand and clumsily drew a heart.
For some reason, Zhu Yu became happy.
Eighteen-year-old Bai Shuzhou could not yet perfectly hide her fluctuating emotions.
Joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness leaked from her tightly furrowed brows and lightly bitten lips, adding a trace of red to this flawless white jade. In an instant, it pulled her down from being the moon in the sky, bringing her so close that she seemed even more vivid, almost within reach.
Like the moon reflected in a cup, sweet and clear when drunk.
Zhu Yu stared at her without blinking, feeling that Bai Shuzhou when angry was especially cute. Her own grievances had long since vanished like smoke in Bai Shuzhou’s sadness, floating away without a trace. She even felt guilty.
Although she had howled miserably, the Snow Leopard Knight had not really done anything to her. She had not even extended her claws and had pressed Zhu Yu down with soft paw pads.
“I did resist. I wasn’t bullied. So don’t be angry anymore, okay?”
“I was only thinking that the roses were dirtied, so I can’t give them to you anymore.”
“Next time, I’ll bring you prettier ones!”
The young woman rarely pressed her lips together reservedly, but her pheromones completely betrayed her joyful little thoughts. In an instant, they became sweet and tempting, making even those flower buds unable to restrain themselves. With a soft pop, they bloomed against her skin, clusters of roses suddenly opening.
Zhu Yu tilted her head and looked at Bai Shuzhou’s lips, which she had bitten until they were faintly moist. Suddenly, she felt that there was probably no rose in the world more beautiful than Bai Shuzhou.
Even if the entire universe had more than sixteen hundred kinds of roses, all of them together could not compare to Bai Shuzhou.
But she still wanted to give Bai Shuzhou flowers and pursue a little vulgar romance. Even if all she received was a light glance, that beauty would become eternal in an instant, fixed in her memory together with the fragrance.
The young woman’s lowered black hair scattered over Bai Shuzhou’s fair collarbone, still carrying her warmth, teasing the heart until it itched.
This feeling was incomparably real, instantly pulling Bai Shuzhou’s chaotic thoughts back. The scattered memories closed, and the disordered notes all found their places.
The instant Bai Shuzhou closed her eyes again, the wildly growing roses surrounded and embraced them.
Fresh flowers, dim light, and one blink of long lashes—like some subtle signal.
A butterfly landed on the tip of Zhu Yu’s heart. She lowered her head to kiss Bai Shuzhou, but the woman had already lifted her face on her own initiative. Soft lips touched.
This was no longer slow, unhurried guidance. At this moment, Bai Shuzhou did not hide her desire at all, from the probing of fingertips to the entanglement of interlocked hands.
As they kissed, the rich rose scent also swallowed Zhu Yu’s pheromones, mouthful by mouthful, taking them into itself and claiming them gently yet domineeringly.
The fading rose marks on the young woman’s body became distinct again. The woody scent became a faint base note and gradually scattered, as if ten thousand roses had once bloomed there.
The initial inexperience was only a prelude. Bai Shuzhou quickly took control of the rhythm.
There was no pain, no tears. It was intense and gentle, and those flickering eyes were clearly still exploring.
For the first time, Zhu Yu experienced the sensation of being kissed until she lacked oxygen. Or perhaps she had simply forgotten to breathe.
As long as she opened her eyes, she would see those pale blue eyes fully reflecting her own figure.
Her misty gaze and her stirred shadow overlapped so beautifully, like a crystalline moment frozen in amber.
Thump.
The heavy knock on the door finally called back Zhu Yu’s breath.
As if waking from a dream, she remembered there was still an uninvited guest outside.
Without waiting for a response, Goloriel directly pushed the door open heavily. Behind her followed Feng Jiang, who had hurried over. Seeing the scene before them, even the usually unsmiling Feng Jiang pushed her glasses in some surprise.
“Director Feng, is this your Academy’s management system?”
Goloriel sneered and waved her hand.
“Why haven’t you dragged this commoner down and investigated her strictly? She must be taking advantage of the princess’s illness to plot something improper!”
The Snow Leopard Knights looked at one another, lowered their heads, and focused on nothing. They stepped forward first, forming a human wall, blocking Goloriel’s reddened, furious gaze.
Zhu Yu climbed up. She was just about to cover Bai Shuzhou properly with the quilt when she saw the woman prop herself up without the slightest concern, her long, narrow eyes narrowing slightly.
“Goloriel.”
That cool voice sounded.
The misty desire in those eyes had long since vanished, once more replaced by icy sharpness.
Bai Shuzhou did not even sit fully upright. She merely lazily supported herself with one arm, her silver-white hair sliding over her shoulder.
Her pale fingers curled as they casually brushed over her slightly red and swollen lips, still glossy with moisture.
When she made this gesture, there was not the slightest ambiguity or attempt to please. There was only a condescending, scrutinizing meaning.
Her gaze did not immediately fall on the group of uninvited guests at the door. Instead, it first swept faintly over Zhu Yu’s flushed cheeks.
A moment later, Bai Shuzhou slowly lifted her eyes. Her gaze passed through the barrier formed by the Snow Leopard Knights and locked precisely onto Goloriel’s deathly pale face.
She frowned.
The pressure she had restrained while kissing descended abruptly. Her voice still carried a trace of hoarseness that had not yet faded as she gave Goloriel one careless glance.
“How dare you offend the royal family?”
