A Faceful Of Lovey-Dovey PDA - Chapter 18
The goddess aura Chu Mei had just built up collapsed in a single second. Not only her newly met classmates, but even passersby began stopping one after another to look at the two beauties.
One was clinging and whining like a fox spirit, her coy manner so sweet it seemed ready to devour a person’s soul. The other looked cool and distant, yet there was a faint helpless and indulgent smile in her eyes.
Su Qin hugged her. In this unfamiliar campus, under the gazes of a crowd of gossiping onlookers, her heart had never felt so bright and open. This was her Chuchu.
Lin Xueyin watched with envy. In her heart, she sighed. Compared to herself and Sister Fang, she was simply envious to death of these two childhood friends. Feelings could not be judged only by appearances. Sometimes, she and Sister Fang were more like a mirage, unrealistic and untouchable. But these two were not like that. They were as if they had already spent a lifetime together. In their eyes, aside from each other, no one else existed at all.
“Hey, you two, that’s about enough. How long are you going to hug? I’m starving flat.” Sister Fang raised an eyebrow, signaling Su Qin to pay attention to their surroundings. Although none of them were the type to care about outsiders’ opinions, fewer rumors still meant life would be easier.
Chu Mei raised an eyebrow, her seductive fox eyes looking at Sister Fang. “What, now that we’re in university, you still want to cling to my Ah Qin?”
Sister Fang: “…”
Lin Xueyin coughed. “Um, little baby Chuchu, please open your eyes wide and take a look. In this world, aside from your Ah Qin, there’s also a beauty named Ah Yin.” This girl really was something else. They were already in university, shouldn’t her horizons have broadened a little? Why was she still the same as when she was a kid, insisting on keeping Ah Qin enclosed and refusing to allow anyone else to set foot near her?
Chu Mei showed no mercy. “Forget it. I won’t even deal you that blow. Let’s go. I’m hungry. What are you treating me to?”
Lin Xueyin was speechless. “Wasn’t Ah Qin supposed to treat us? How did it become me treating you? Fuck, Chu Mei, you really can do it. Emotionally, you’re already living together with Ah Qin, and now you’ve started doing little calculations on her behalf. Very much the lady of the house, aren’t you?”
Chu Mei spun around, twisting her slim waist. “Let’s go, let’s go. If you’re not treating, then forget it. So stingy, and still so much nonsense.”
Lin Xueyin: “…”
On the first day of university, Chu Mei appeared in a state that made people want to kick her. The four of them walked toward the cafeteria together. Lin Xueyin looked Chu Mei up and down and, rarely, praised her. “Speaking of which, Chuchu, not bad. You’re really on a heaven-defying trajectory here.”
Chu Mei let go of Su Qin’s hand and spun in place. “Am I beautiful? They all said I look like a flower fairy.”
The lollipop Sister Fang had just put into her mouth shot out. Lin Xueyin laughed so hard she doubled over. “That description… Your acting department really is worthy of having the lowest admission score in the school.”
The moment Chu Mei heard that, she grew unhappy. “Don’t insult us. I was just chosen as the study committee member. This is the first official post I’ve ever held in my whole life. I value it very much.”
Su Qin really could not hold back anymore and pinched her face. “You? Study committee member?”
“Mm-hmm.” Chu Mei lifted her neck, planted both hands on her waist, and looked down on them all. “Just answer me this: awesome or not?!”
Lin Xueyin nodded. “Awesome. Oh right, Chuchu, I forgot to tell you.”
“What?” Chu Mei once again took Su Qin’s hand. This had been her habit for years. As long as she was with Su Qin, if she was not holding onto something, her whole body felt uncomfortable.
Lin Xueyin pointed at herself. “Classical Music Department, Class J01, Youth League branch secretary. Um, my Sister Fang is the class monitor of Physical Education Department, Class J04. And your one here is the student council president of this year’s Management Department.”
“…You people are really too annoying. Just because you hold a few positions, you think you’re amazing? Fine, fine, let’s eat.” Chu Mei ignored them and started walking toward the serving window. Su Qin smiled and shook her head. “All right, Ah Yin, stop bullying her for no reason.”
“Hmph.” Lin Xueyin snorted coldly. After the four of them sat down, they received quite a few looks from the people nearby. Chu Mei, this flower fairy, was everyone’s main focus. She had no self-awareness at all. Looking at the ribbonfish, she frowned. “Ah Qin, why does this fish look different from the one at home?”
Su Qin directly picked it up and began removing the bones for her. “Don’t just stare at meat. Eat some vegetables too.”
“I don’t want to. This cauliflower has no flavor at all. Just looking at it kills my appetite.”
“Then drink the egg soup. Look, your lips are peeling again. Eat more vegetables, otherwise you’ll have to take vitamins again.”
“I don’t wanna~”
Su Qin placed the deboned fish back onto her plate and looked at Chu Mei. “Use less makeup. Your skin isn’t suited for it.”
Chu Mei touched her own face. “It’s fine. Everything I use is hypoallergenic. Oh right, Ah Qin, what are the boys and girls in your class like? Are they good-looking?”
Su Qin smiled as she looked at her.
Chu Mei grew a little anxious, while still pretending not to care as she ate her rice. “I think they should all be pretty good, right? After all, it’s university now. Everyone is starting to dress up. Is there anyone prettier than me?”
Su Qin picked up some cauliflower for her. “No. You’re the prettiest.”
Chu Mei covered her mouth. “Ohoho, why did you have to say the truth out loud?”
Lin Xueyin: “…”
Sister Fang: “…”
Sister Fang took a deep breath and looked at Lin Xueyin. “All these years, how did you endure this?”
Lin Xueyin also felt as if eating were like chewing wax. “After watching them show off long enough, you get used to it.”
As the two of them were speaking, a tall, slender beauty carrying a tray walked over from across the way. She smiled at Sister Fang and sat down beside her.
Lin Xueyin: “???!!!”
Chu Mei frowned and looked at her. “Who are you? Do you know Ah Qin?”
The beauty shook her head. “I don’t.”
“Hehe…” Chu Mei was pleased and continued eating her own food. As long as she was not here for Su Qin, it was fine.
Lin Xueyin stared fixedly at the girl. The girl raised an eyebrow and looked at Sister Fang. Sister Fang found her somewhat familiar and could not help looking at her a few more times. This… seemed to be someone from the physical education department, right? Judging by this, she was not here for Sister Fang? Driven by curiosity, Sister Fang stared at her a few more times. Sure enough, the beauty’s gaze kept drifting, seemingly unintentionally, toward Chu Mei again and again. Chu Mei was still over there being clingy with Su Qin. She could not even drink her own yogurt properly and insisted on drinking the half-finished one Su Qin had drunk from, acting so coy that goosebumps rose all over people’s bodies. The beauty’s gaze darkened. She did not seem to be in a very good mood, but she still could not help looking at Chu Mei.
Sister Fang sighed. This face-obsessed world really had no equal. Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river; Chu Mei’s face had finally gotten to be impressive for once.
No one else knew what Sister Fang was thinking, and now, things were great—Lin Xueyin’s vinegar jar had been completely overturned.
All the way until they finished eating, she remained puffed up with anger and in a bad mood. Chu Mei comforted her, “All right. Sister Fang didn’t really do anything wrong. Didn’t she just look a couple more times?”
Lin Xueyin glared at her. “Look a couple more times? Someone hadn’t even spoken yet and only sat beside Ah Qin, and I don’t know who it was that immediately changed her face first.”
Su Qin pulled Chu Mei over. “Don’t make trouble.” She knew Lin Xueyin’s temper. It would be bad if Chu Mei got accidentally injured.
Sister Fang, however, looked completely indifferent. Calmly, she took a cigarette out of her jacket pocket, held it between her lips, and lit it.
All three of them stared, dumbfounded. From the look of it, this was not Sister Fang’s first time smoking. She narrowed her eyes slightly. The wind tossed her long hair, and there was actually a trace of vicissitude in her gaze.
Unexpectedly… she had a kind of currently fashionable melancholic beauty, like a woman in an oil painting who had weathered countless storms, hazy and alluring.
“When did you start smoking?” If what had happened earlier could still be considered a little teasing and flirting, now Lin Xueyin’s expression had already turned very ugly.
Chu Mei was usually foolish and muddleheaded, but at this moment, she grew sharp. She quickly pulled Su Qin aside. “Um, Ah Qin, there’s a geometry problem I don’t know. Explain it to me.”
Su Qin held her forehead. “We’re already in university, okay?”
Chu Mei said, “Oh. Then an advanced math problem.”
“…”
Seeing the two of them walk away, Sister Fang exhaled a smoke ring. Her slender fingers held the cigarette as she looked at Lin Xueyin. “Is this interesting to you?”
“What do you mean?” Lin Xueyin looked at the cigarette in her hand, tears flickering in her eyes. Sister Fang shrugged. “From the first day we got together, I already told you. I’m used to being wild. No one should think they can control me.”
“But we… we’re already a couple. If there’s something going on with you, shouldn’t you at least tell me?” Lin Xueyin took a deep breath and worked hard to control her emotions. She did not want to fight with Sister Fang on the very first day of university. “Smoking is bad for your health. You’re even a professional athlete. You—”
“Enough.” Sister Fang flipped her cap backward. “Don’t talk about all these useless things. I still have something to do.”
“Where are you going?” Lin Xueyin chased after her for a few steps. Sister Fang had long legs and a large stride, walking forward quickly. Lin Xueyin was wearing high heels, which made it inconvenient to move, and in a short while, Sister Fang had left her some distance behind.
Lin Xueyin looked at Sister Fang from far away. She watched as another girl from the physical education department, similarly fit and heroic-looking, walked toward her. The two of them nodded at each other. The girl said something to Sister Fang, and Sister Fang raised her eyebrows and smiled. From the look of it, her mood was very good, completely unaffected.
Lin Xueyin’s heart suddenly went cold. For a moment, she felt as if all her waiting and effort over these years had been wrong. Back in high school, she could chase after Sister Fang and keep her confined within her line of sight. But now that they were in university, on the very first day, Sister Fang was already like an eagle spreading its wings to fly, soaring freely as she pleased, without even turning back to look at Lin Xueyin once.
