A Little Sweet O Travels to a Normal World - Chapter 3
Tang Zhuo tossed the trash bag into the bin, then walked toward the roadside bushes. He washed his hands under a faucet and wiped them dry with a handkerchief.
The stray tuft of hair on his head—his “ahoge”—drooped dejectedly; he was feeling rather gloomy. Clearly, he was still upset about being hated by the little dog.
In truth, one couldn’t blame the dog. After all, what dog would like a “bad person” who had once kicked it? And now, he had become that loathsome villain. T^T
Tang Zhuo tucked his handkerchief into his pocket and looked up at the road. He didn’t quite dare to go outside the gates, but he could stroll around the complex. This residential area called “Sunlight Garden” had excellent greenery, with shady trees and seasonal flowers blooming everywhere.
Tang Zhuo turned down a small side path.
“Waaa… uwaaaa…”
Just then, a dark-skinned, middle-aged man carrying a little girl came walking from the end of the path, looking like he was in a great hurry. The girl looked to be about two or three years old, sobbing and pushing at the man’s face with her small hands. Her struggle and resistance were obvious.
Tang Zhuo couldn’t help but look a few more times.
He loved children. His dream since childhood—aside from building a family with his fated Alpha—was to have two cute babies. After coming to this world, losing his reproductive ability was something that truly caused him pain. After all, he couldn’t marry an Omega. And in this world of only “Female Omegas,” it was practically equivalent to him never being able to have children of his own.
Seeing the sobbing little girl, Tang Zhuo couldn’t help but look at the middle-aged man with a judgmental gaze. The baby is crying so hard; doesn’t he know to stop and comfort her?
As they passed Tang Zhuo, the girl’s cries grew louder. Her pushing had escalated to hitting the man’s face.
“Stop crying, we’ll be there soon…” The man’s faint, coaxing voice could be heard.
However, it was useless. The girl didn’t stop crying, and her hitting grew more forceful. Tang Zhuo finally couldn’t help but raise his hand to stop them.
“Excuse me, sir, are you this child’s father?” He just wanted to confirm the man’s identity, but as soon as he spoke, the little girl wailed.
“No, he’s not Daddy…”
Hearing this, Tang Zhuo immediately became alert. Omegas were extremely precious, so many criminals targeted young Omegas. Tang Zhuo had been lectured about this since he was small and was quite sensitive to the matter.
So… could this man be a child kidnapper?
Facing Tang Zhuo’s scrutiny, the man remained composed. He chuckled and said, “This child… she’s throwing a tantrum because I won’t let her have ice cream. She’s even disowning her own father now…”
He gave Tang Zhuo a single glance before continuing toward the complex entrance.
Tang Zhuo hesitated. Had he misunderstood? But looking at the little girl slumped over the man’s shoulder, reaching a hand out toward him with such a heartbroken, pleading expression—it really didn’t look like an act.
Better safe than sorry!
Tang Zhuo didn’t care if it was a misunderstanding anymore. He dragged his injured leg and chased after them, calling out, “Sir, wait a moment…”
“Young man, I have an urgent matter and really can’t delay. She’s just being greedy and throwing a fit. Honestly, can you really trust a child’s words?” The man was clearly becoming impatient and quickened his pace.
Tang Zhuo continued to keep up. “Just to be safe, let’s wait for the police to arrive.”
Regardless of the truth, calling the police was the right move!
As soon as Tang Zhuo finished speaking, the man suddenly bolted toward the exit of the complex. Tang Zhuo instinctively grabbed his arm but was jerked off balance, stumbling to the ground.
They had already reached the entrance. A van was parked at the curb with its door open. The man took the opportunity to shake off Tang Zhuo’s hand and rushed toward the van with the crying girl in his arms.
Tang Zhuo didn’t even bother trying to get up; he lunged forward and grabbed the man’s lower leg, shouting at the top of his lungs.
“Someone is stealing a child! Stop him!”
The man didn’t stop, dragging Tang Zhuo along as he lunged forward. Because his right foot was in a cast and it was summer, Tang Zhuo was wearing shorts. As he was dragged, his bare knees scraped against the rough concrete, sending a searing jolt of pain through him.
Tears sprang to Tang Zhuo’s eyes from the pain, but he gripped the man’s pant leg with a death localized. His shouting had already attracted the attention of those nearby. If he could just hold on a little longer… just a little longer…
A heavy boot kicked down fiercely, and Tang Zhuo let go amidst the sharp pain.
He looked up to see the kidnapper’s accomplice had stepped out of the car to help. Watching them about to carry the girl into the van, Tang Zhuo was anxious yet powerless.
Who… who can help her?
Just as Tang Zhuo was about to cry from desperation—
BAM!
With a dull thud, a black duffel bag flew out of nowhere, slamming into the kidnapper holding the child. The man couldn’t dodge in time; he was struck squarely in the head and fell to the side.
Taking advantage of that momentary lapse, the child broke free from his grasp and was caught by a girl who had rushed over to help. She was carrying a backpack and looked like a university student.
But it wasn’t over yet.
“Argh! AHH! UGH!”
Successive howls like those of a slaughtered pig rang out. Tang Zhuo watched the scene in a daze.
A tall, handsome man in black seemed to drop from the sky. In almost the instant they clashed, he flipped the two fierce-looking kidnappers onto the ground. His movements were swift and ruthless, flowing like water as he beat the two men until they couldn’t stand, leaving them groaning on the ground.
Finally, the man bent over and picked up his duffel bag.
So… so cool!
Tang Zhuo couldn’t help but marvel. Snapping out of it, he quickly looked toward the girl holding the child. She hadn’t gone far and was watching with a shell-shocked expression. The security guard and other bystanders had finally reacted and rushed forward—some to restrain the two kidnappers, others to call the police.
As for the van, it had sped off the moment it saw things going south.
Tang Zhuo breathed a sigh of relief, only then feeling the burning pain in his legs. He sat up and looked at the mangled state of his shins and knees.
“Are you alright?”
A slightly deep male voice sounded by his ear. Tang Zhuo looked up to see the man who had taken down the kidnappers kneeling beside him.
Tang Zhuo, who had been holding it in, burst into tears at this sudden show of concern.
“It hurts so much…” he said pitifully.
Jun Yanxing: “…”
The man sitting on the ground had features as delicate as a painting. His fair skin was dazzlingly bright under the afternoon sun, and a faint scent of peach drifted from him. It was sweet, soft, and incredibly alluring. Especially now, as he looked up with those bright, beautiful, tear-filled eyes…
Jun Yanxing’s body stiffened slightly. He found himself saying, almost reflexively, “Shall I take you to the hospital?”
As soon as he said it, he was stunned. He wasn’t one to meddle in other people’s business. Stepping in earlier was something any normal person would do, but now…
Jun Yanxing lowered his eyes, observing the beautiful man again. He felt a faint sense of familiarity but couldn’t recall where he had seen him.
Facing the inquiry, Tang Zhuo nodded instinctively and said with great emotion, “Then I’ll trouble you. You’re such a good person!”
“…”
Jun Yanxing didn’t particularly want a “good person” card, but it was too late to back out. He could only accept his fate. “Can you still walk?”
“I’ll try.”
Tang Zhuo grabbed Jun Yanxing’s extended arm and struggled to stand on his injured leg. The mere movement caused his tears to fall again.
Jun Yanxing frowned slightly. Finally, he bent down and, regardless of what Tang Zhuo thought, hoisted him onto his back.
“What is that child to you?” Jun Yanxing asked as he walked away, looking at the girl who was now surrounded by people. He had been waiting by the road for someone and had only seen Tang Zhuo’s struggle with the kidnapper; he didn’t know the relationship between him and the child.
“I don’t know her…” Tang Zhuo said blankly from his back.
Jun Yanxing gave a grunt of acknowledgement and carried him away from the crowd. At this time, Tang Zhuo also noticed a small clinic nearby.
Not many people noticed them leaving; everyone’s attention was drawn to the child and the kidnappers. The two criminals were still making excuses, but no one believed them now, and there was no way they were escaping. Residents who recognized the girl were already contacting her parents.
Tang Zhuo felt at ease and lay obediently on Jun Yanxing’s back, waiting to be bandaged at the clinic. A faint scent of tobacco swirled around his nose. He didn’t know if it was because he hadn’t recovered his emotions or if the wound was too painful, but he—someone who usually hated the smell of smoke—didn’t find it unpleasant.
The clinic was not far from the complex; they arrived in two or three minutes. The doctor and nurse had noticed the commotion and were peeking out the door. Seeing them approach, they quickly ushered them into the exam room.
Besides the exposed shins and knees, Tang Zhuo also had deep bruising on his arm where the kidnapper had kicked him. Fortunately, no bones were broken, but because his skin was so fair, the injuries looked quite shocking.
The nurse was gentle and careful, but the sting of the alcohol pad still made Tang Zhuo’s tears fly.
“It hurts… gentler, please be gentler…” he cried.
The nurse paused and looked at him helplessly. “You’re a boy, be a bit stronger.”
Tang Zhuo could only bite his lip and try his best not to cry out anymore. Though she told him to be strong, his aggrieved and pitiful appearance truly made one’s heart soften, and the nurse’s movements became much more tender.
By the time Tang Zhuo’s wounds were bandaged and the pain had subsided, he noticed that Jun Yanxing was nowhere to be seen in the room. He said goodbye to the nurse and stepped out of the exam room, only to find that Jun Yanxing had already left.
He’s gone just like that? Without even saying goodbye…
He hadn’t even had the chance to thank him. A faint sense of disappointment rose in his heart, but Tang Zhuo soon lost the mood to focus on it.
“How much is the total?” He went to the front desk and asked anxiously. “Can I use medical insurance?”
It was just a bandaging; surely it wouldn’t exceed two hundred yuan? Besides, he only had fifty yuan in cash on him… whatever the amount, it was a heavy blow to his current extreme poverty.
“We don’t support medical insurance reimbursement here.”
Hearing this, Tang Zhuo’s heart sank. He gripped the fifty yuan of loose change in his pocket, about to ask for the specific amount, when the receptionist spoke again. Her words were like heavenly music to Tang Zhuo’s ears:
“However, the gentleman who brought you here has already paid.”
