A Little Sweet O Travels to a Normal World - Chapter 4
Tang Zhuo limped out of the clinic.
He looked to be in a good mood, with the corners of his mouth curved into a slight smile. Despite his injuries getting worse, he still felt very happy because he had just saved a young life from a kidnapper, and he had met an incredibly kind gentleman!
Not only did the man take him to the clinic after taking down the kidnappers, but he even paid the medical bill.
Truly a wonderful person.
It was just a pity he hadn’t had the chance to ask for the man’s name before he vanished. He wondered if they would ever meet again. Recalling the way Jun Yanxing had fought earlier, Tang Zhuo couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement and admiration.
He was so cool! If only I could fight like that…
Lost in thought, Tang Zhuo plodded slowly back toward the residential complex. When he snapped back to reality, he saw that the crowd at the entrance had yet to disperse; instead, two police cars had arrived, and the two bruised and swollen kidnappers were being loaded into them.
Seeing their miserable state, Tang Zhuo felt a sudden sense of justice. Bad people like that deserve to suffer!
Nearby, the little girl who had almost been abducted was being held tightly by an elderly woman. An elderly man stood beside them, repeatedly thanking the surrounding people. The girl who had seized the opportunity to grab the child back was also there, speaking with a young man in a police uniform.
Tang Zhuo craned his neck, trying to find a path through the crowd to get home. He wondered if the tenant had arrived yet. Xia Chunzheng hadn’t called, so he was likely still on his way.
As Tang Zhuo nudged his way through the crowd, someone suddenly grabbed his arm.
“There you are! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” It was the girl who had been talking to the police. She looked delighted to see him. “Officer Liu, he’s the one who first spotted the kidnappers!”
The girl pulled Tang Zhuo along, turning to the officer behind her. “If he hadn’t held that man back and shouted for help, the child might have been taken away in that van already.”
Before Tang Zhuo could react, the elderly couple was drawn over by the commotion, bringing their granddaughter with them. As soon as she reached him, the old woman tried to kneel before Tang Zhuo. Startled, he quickly held her up.
“Ma’am, please don’t do this. Please, stand up…”
“Young man, I truly don’t know how to thank you!” The old woman was in tears, weeping uncontrollably. “My legs aren’t great, so I walk a bit slow. Who knew that after just one turn, Nannan would be gone…”
“If the kidnappers had really taken her, I wouldn’t have been able to go on!”
Tang Zhuo felt a bit flustered. For a moment, he forgot his discomfort with crowds as he and the others worked to calm the distraught woman. Once the situation was under control, Officer Liu pulled Tang Zhuo aside, asked him a few questions, and checked his leg. “Is the injury serious?”
“Not serious, just some scrapes,” Tang Zhuo replied. “I already had them treated at the clinic.”
“Good.” Officer Liu nodded and patted his shoulder. “We really owe it to your sharp eyes today. I’ll help you apply for a ‘Brave Citizen’ award later. We can’t let a good person go unrecognized!”
Afterward, the officer took the opportunity to educate the gathered crowd, urging everyone to report suspicious characters immediately, especially regarding women and children. If it turned out to be a misunderstanding, all was well; but if it was a real kidnapper, it could save an entire family.
Tang Zhuo nodded along, and the girl who had grabbed him earlier leaned in.
“I overheard just now—your name is Tang Zhuo?” the girl asked brightly. “I’m Wan Qingyue. I live here in Sunlight Garden too, in Building 30.”
“Hello,” Tang Zhuo replied with a smile. “I’m in Building 18.”
Wan Qingyue dazed for a moment as she looked at his gentle, cute smile. In all her life, she had never seen a boy so good-looking with such a unique aura—he felt soft, yet very approachable.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Which university do you go to? Let’s add each other on QQ so we can stay in touch!”
Tang Zhuo didn’t refuse. He loved making friends, and since he and Wan Qingyue had “fought side-by-side,” he had a very good impression of this girl who had been willing to step up at a critical moment. He happily took out his phone and, under her guidance, accepted the friend request.
When she asked about his school again, Tang Zhuo had to admit, “I actually graduated a year ago.”
But mentally, I’m only eighteen, he thought. T^T
In his world, Omegas could register for marriage at eighteen. They didn’t go to university; at most, they attended specialized “Bride Schools” to learn how to be good partners and fathers. He actually quite envied the girls in this world.
“Really? You look about my age.” Wan Qingyue scratched her head. She was a sophomore, and Tang Zhuo didn’t look like someone who had already entered society.
Tang Zhuo’s eyes widened. He was so touched—she actually recognized his “true” age! With just that sentence, Tang Zhuo felt a deep kinship with Wan Qingyue. Since she was quite the social butterfly, the two were soon chatting and laughing.
With Wan Qingyue helping clear the way, Tang Zhuo successfully navigated through the crowd and back into the heart of the complex.
“Tang-tang, is your leg really okay? Do you need an X-ray at the hospital?” Wan Qingyue looked at his wounds, speaking indignantly. “Those kidnappers were so evil. You were so brave!”
Tang Zhuo gave a shy smile and said, “I don’t think I need one. The doctor at the clinic didn’t say anything about X-rays.”
Going to the hospital costs so much money! Fortunately, she didn’t insist.
She walked him to his building and then left. “I have things to do, I’ll come find you to hang out later!”
“Okay, okay.” Tang Zhuo entered the hallway and headed home, feeling cheerful. So happy, I finally made a new friend!
Once inside, he checked his phone. No missed calls. He breathed a sigh of relief, but then worry crept in. It was almost 6:00 PM; why hadn’t Xia Chunzheng called? Had something gone wrong? Was the tenant not coming?
He pulled up the agent’s number, wanting to call and ask, but he held back. Phone credit costs money too. I’ll wait a bit longer.
Remembering the bedsheets he had left on the rooftop to dry at noon, he quickly put his phone away. He wanted to get them before dark so they wouldn’t get damp from the evening dew.
“Mr. Jun, this is the last listing I have.”
Xia Chunzheng entered the elevator and pressed the button for the 25th floor. “If you want to see other houses, we’ll have to go to a different complex, but don’t worry, that side isn’t far from Sunlight Garden either.”
“Mhm.” Jun Yanxing stood beside him, nodding slightly.
Xia Chunzheng couldn’t help but steal a glance at him. Though the young man looked very young, his slightly furrowed brow and cold, polite demeanor carried an air of natural authority that made the agent speak more cautiously.
However, thinking of the apartment they were about to see, Xia Chunzheng couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. The previous three listings hadn’t satisfied Mr. Jun; he had left after just a quick look. This last one likely wouldn’t work either.
He remembered the first time he had visited it. The apartment was actually very nice—good lighting, well-ventilated, great layout, and high-end decor. It just… hadn’t been maintained well. It wasn’t exactly “filthy,” but the first impression wasn’t great. If it weren’t for the fact that he hadn’t shown it to anyone since taking the listing and needed to give an account, he might have taken Jun Yanxing straight to the other complexes.
After a moment, Xia Chunzheng spoke up. “This apartment is quite large, three bedrooms and two living rooms with two balconies. We’re renting out the master and second bedrooms. I’ve seen them before; the lighting is excellent.”
As the agent did his best to sell the place, Jun Yanxing listened in silence, nodding occasionally. If this place didn’t work out, he’d have to find a random place to crash for the night. He had recently returned from abroad and had few connections locally. Given his father Jun Hua’s influence, if he dared to stay in a star-rated hotel, he’d likely be sent back to the Jun family before the next morning.
So, before leaving the family, Jun Yanxing had thought long and hard and finally remembered Xia Chunzheng—his future capable assistant, who was currently just a junior employee at Fengsheng Real Estate.
“The darkest place is under the lamp.” Jun Hua would never expect him to use a family-owned agency to find a place to hide.
Ding—
The elevator doors opened; they had reached the 25th floor.
“After you.” Xia Chunzheng held the door for Jun Yanxing, then stepped out quickly. “The apartment is this way.”
Reaching the door, Xia Chunzheng rang the bell. He had tried calling Mr. Tang in the elevator, but the call didn’t go through. He had confirmed everything this morning; surely the owner wasn’t out again?
Jun Yanxing stood behind Xia Chunzheng. He saw the agent turn back with an embarrassed smile before ringing the bell again, calling the landlord’s name.
“Mr. Tang—Mr. Tang Zhuo—”
“Are you home?”
After two or three rings…
“Coming, coming! I’m here!”
A slightly lively response rang out—but it came from behind them.
Jun Yanxing turned around. Before he could even see the person, a soft bundle crashed into his chest. He instinctively reached out to steady them.
Tang Zhuo was clutching the bundle of bedding he had just retrieved from the rooftop. His vision was partially blocked, and hearing Xia Chunzheng’s urgent voice, he had dashed forward on his good left leg.
When he realized something was wrong and looked up, he slammed straight into a pair of deep, dark eyes.
Their gazes met.
Startled, Tang Zhuo’s left foot slipped. The momentum that had briefly halted sent his body pitching forward again.
Seeing this, Jun Yanxing, who had only been loosely steadying him, reached out with a large hand and firmly gripped the small of Tang Zhuo’s back. He stopped the downward slide, preventing a tragic faceplant.
Because of that powerful pull, the distance between them closed even further. Had it not been for the bundle of bedding between them, they would have been in a full embrace.
Tang Zhuo froze in place, his beautiful eyes staring foolishly at Jun Yanxing, who was mere inches away.
A few seconds later, he snapped out of it.
“It’s you! Mr. Good Person!”
A brilliant, joyful smile suddenly lit up his dark eyes, his voice overflowing with surprise.
…Good Person?
Jun Yanxing, who had been momentarily dazed, was taken aback.
