A Scum Alpha Tool Character's Code of Conduct - Chapter 4
“Miss Wen, I don’t think that’s quite right. If you do all the work that requires physical strength, wouldn’t Sister Lingqing have nothing left to do?”
Perhaps because a top singer and a film emperor carried too much weight in the industry, another person wandered over to the corner Wen Jiao had chosen to hide in.
As a male Omega, Qi Yujie had a gentle disposition. Lacking both acting skills and singing talent, he relied on his handsome face to survive on various reality shows. Almost every program he joined inevitably ended in drama and arguments, which was a special kind of talent in itself.
And his comment clearly carried a hint of provocation.
Wen Jiao: This proves that even having read the original novel is useless in situations like this.
Internally panicking and desperately squeezing the last drops of emotional intelligence from her brain, Wen Jiao maintained her cold expression and finally managed to produce four words:
“Everyone has their role.”
Qi Yujie stared at her for two seconds. Well-versed in creating drama, he deliberately looked surprised.
“Miss Wen, that’s not a very appropriate thing to say. Aren’t you basically saying you have no brains and can only do manual labor?”
Wen Jiao glanced at him, expression unchanged.
“Maybe.”
…Maybe?
Everyone present was left speechless by the amateur guest.
Only An Lingqing vaguely understood what Wen Jiao was thinking.
To participate in this show, Wen Jiao had worked overtime for an entire week.
The first few days had been manageable, but during the last two, An Lingqing had noticed that every evening after work, Wen Jiao seemed to be operating in a state of soul departure.
So for the current Wen Jiao, using her brain was genuinely exhausting.
Sighing softly, An Lingqing flashed a sweet smile and broke the sudden silence.
“I’ll naturally handle whatever I’m capable of doing. Of course, this is a survival show, so there will definitely be times when everyone needs to help each other. No matter who I end up teaming with, I hope we can all work together happily.”
Her energetic voice injected life back into the atmosphere, and the conversation became lively once again.
Looking at the faint dimples on An Lingqing’s face, Wen Jiao couldn’t help wondering if her recent overwork had left serious side effects.
Otherwise, why did those dimples seem to possess some mysterious gravitational force that made it impossible to look away?
The small talk ended quickly.
In pursuit of excitement, the production team suddenly announced that the first episode would begin with an airdrop.
For Wen Jiao, skydiving wasn’t difficult at all.
In fact, she was looking forward to it.
But wasn’t An Lingqing a little afraid of heights?
After noticing the slight paleness in An Lingqing’s profile, Wen Jiao thought for two seconds before speaking.
“What if someone is afraid of heights?”
The director, monitoring the various camera feeds, immediately felt a headache coming on.
The audience didn’t know it, but he certainly did.
Although Wen Jiao wasn’t the show’s biggest investor, the Wen Corporation was standing right behind her. He simply didn’t have the courage to make trouble for her.
But if he gave Wen Jiao special treatment, what if the other guests demanded special treatment too?
In the end, for the sake of the show’s entertainment value, the director gritted his teeth and said:
“Tell the guests that anyone afraid of heights can choose tandem skydiving. They may either select another guest from the cast or ask one of the professional instructors on the helicopter for assistance.”
The staff faithfully relayed the message.
“I remember the participants were required to know how to skydive before joining the show. Miss Wen, didn’t you read the requirements carefully?”
Su Ze, who had been mostly silent until now, finally spoke up.
Both his expression and tone gave off the impression of someone blunt and straightforward.
After all, skydiving wasn’t without risks. The production team had specifically confirmed this skill with every participant’s agent. As for Wen Jiao, who had no agent, she had been responsible for confirming it herself.
Wen Jiao sighed.
She remembered that in the original novel, An Lingqing had stubbornly chosen to skydive alone. Her technique had been flawless, but she ended up having nightmares for three consecutive nights afterward.
Lost in thought, Wen Jiao completely forgot about Su Ze.
She failed to notice the displeased look appearing on the face of the newly crowned top idol.
“Are you looking down on me?”
Apparently committed to his “say whatever’s on your mind” persona, Su Ze asked the question directly.
Wen Jiao felt confused.
She glanced at An Lingqing, wanting to ask what she meant, only to suddenly remember they were supposed to act unfamiliar on the show.
So she simply turned her head back expressionlessly.
An Lingqing, meanwhile, felt as though the words wronged and aggrieved were floating around Wen Jiao despite the cold expression still on her face.
“Knowing how to skydive doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not afraid of heights. Miss Wen, did you learn skydiving specifically to overcome your fear of heights?”
Her gentle voice eased the tension in the cabin.
Wen Jiao secretly breathed a sigh of relief and nodded.
No wonder she’s the heroine.
Kind and generous. She even stepped in to help a cannon-fodder like me out of an awkward situation.
She’s basically a fairy.
While mentally rambling to herself, Wen Jiao tried to smile at An Lingqing in gratitude.
Unfortunately, Su Ze spoke again.
“Little Sister Lingqing is still as understanding as ever.”
He flashed a bright smile, his gaze toward An Lingqing filled with completely undisguised affection.
Wen Jiao: There’s definitely gossip here, but I don’t want to eat this melon. In fact, I want to flip the whole table.
“Lingqing really is very understanding. So… may I request to skydive together with you?”
Seeing the surprise in An Lingqing’s eyes, Wen Jiao lowered her head and added:
“I just think that if two people jump together, the fear gets divided in half. The psychological pressure would be less.”
That sounded incredibly selfish.
Looking at Wen Jiao’s serious expression, An Lingqing quietly relaxed.
Since someone had voluntarily solved her biggest problem, she no longer needed to worry.
Under the astonished gazes of everyone present, An Lingqing smiled and nodded gently.
The other guests: ?
Everyone knew that although An Lingqing appeared approachable, she actually kept everyone at arm’s length.
An Tianlang had invited her to dinner countless times in private and been rejected every time.
Su Ze had openly tried to create a CP pairing with her and had also failed.
Yet now…
An Lingqing had agreed to go tandem skydiving with a complete amateur?
Outwardly, no one showed their surprise.
Internally, however, everyone began reassessing Wen Jiao’s identity—and her relationship with An Lingqing.
Were they really strangers?
Or…
Having obtained An Lingqing’s agreement, Wen Jiao silently gave herself a thumbs-up.
“Fear-Sharing Tool Character” had officially gone online.
All that remained was the skydive itself.
Perhaps Wen Jiao and An Lingqing’s arrangement inspired the others to create storylines of their own.
The remaining four guests ultimately also chose tandem skydiving.
A silent battle of hidden schemes unfolded over team selection, resulting in the following pairs:
An Tianlang (Alpha) and Zhang Lanyi (Omega) formed a team. As a film emperor and a film queen, their “Emperor-and-Queen” CP already had plenty of fans. However, a trace of irritation seemed to flash through Zhang Lanyi’s eyes.
Su Ze (Alpha) and Qi Yujie (Omega) teamed up. A rising idol and a reality-show controversy magnet—a combination sure to create sparks.
And considering that each pair contained someone who had previously been linked romantically with An Lingqing…
For the Nth time, Wen Jiao felt that the “survival” aspect of this survival show wasn’t just about surviving in the wilderness.
It was even more about surviving a battlefield of complicated romantic drama.
