A Scumbag Alpha Gets the Simp’s Script - Chapter 31
Yu Jinzhao hummed a little tune, driving back in a state of high spirits. As she passed the security post at the entrance, she even greeted the property staff enthusiastically.
As she opened the front door, a thought suddenly occurred to her: If a small cat or dog greeted them at this moment, wouldn’t life be perfect? She stole a glance at Pei Daowan’s expression. She couldn’t imagine how Pei Daowan would react to a pet. Would she treat them the way she occasionally treated Yu Jinzhao?
Actually, forget it. A pet would be a distraction. They were both so busy now that they wouldn’t have the time.
Yu Jinzhao hadn’t drunk tonight, but Pei Daowan had quite a lot. She had been drowsy on the way back, and now that she was back in familiar territory, her steps were visibly unsteady. Startled, Yu Jinzhao hurried to support her.
Yu Jinzhao felt a pang of worry; she should have blocked the drinks for her, but back then, Pei Daowan had subtly protected her behind her own shadow.
“Do you feel unwell? Do you feel like throwing up?”
Pei Daowan’s pupils struggled to focus. She stared at Yu Jinzhao for a long time before slowly shaking her head. She looked a bit dazed, a far cry from her usual cold and capable self.
Seeing her endure the discomfort made Yu Jinzhao even more distressed. She half-carried her, intending to set her down on the sofa to rest. Upon entering, Yu Jinzhao had taken off Pei Daowan’s coat; now, she wore only that thin black dress. Through the fabric, Yu Jinzhao could feel a temperature much higher than usual.
Her breathing hitched. She was careful not to place her hands on any sensitive areas, fearing she would cause Pei Daowan trouble, her palms clenched into tight fists. Following the rise and fall of Pei Daowan’s breath, she could clearly feel the rhythm of her abdomen; with every inhalation and exhalation, Yu Jinzhao’s face flushed a deep red.
In the past, when friends got drunk, she—having more strength than the average girl—had helped carry them several times. But back then, her mind was clear, devoid of any sensation.
Yu Jinzhao took several deep breaths. The back of her neck began to burn and sting again. She had overestimated her willpower. The sofa was only a few steps away, yet the journey felt incredibly difficult. By the time she finally set her down, she was drenched in sweat.
Yu Jinzhao collapsed onto the floor, half-kneeling, questioning her own life. When did my stamina get this bad? It shouldn’t be like this just from carrying someone a few steps, especially since Pei Daowan wasn’t heavy at all. At over 170cm, she probably weighed only about 100 pounds. Yu Jinzhao could have carried a man, let alone her.
Ignoring the increasing throb and heat at the nape of her neck, Yu Jinzhao breathed heavily. She felt dizzy. Without even leaning in, she could smell that cold fragrance on Pei Daowan growing more intense. This time, she finally identified the scent: Cedarwood and Sandalwood.
It was a fragrance she adored—a woody, cold scent. Under the circumstances, Yu Jinzhao couldn’t resist her greed and took several deep breaths. So fragrant! Truly so fragrant!
Touching Pei Daowan’s forehead, she found it hot, but it wasn’t a fever—it was the alcohol flushing her face.
Forcing her aching limbs to move, Yu Jinzhao wobbled to her feet. She needed to get a blanket for Pei Daowan first. For some reason, her body felt weak; what if she dropped her while trying to carry her? She also needed to cook some hangover soup, otherwise, Pei Daowan would feel terrible tomorrow morning. With that thought, she struggled upstairs and brought back a blanket.
The pain at the back of her neck intensified, making her mind hazy. Instinct told her something was wrong, but her brain was currently like a bowl of mush, incapable of thought.
As she covered Pei Daowan with the blanket, Yu Jinzhao’s legs gave way. She collapsed, her lips accidentally but firmly striking Pei Daowan’s forehead.
“Mm~”
Pei Daowan, feeling the impact, whimpered in discomfort.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to, I…”
Yu Jinzhao was incoherent. She wanted to lift her head, but it felt heavy, and she couldn’t pull herself away from the cold fragrance in her arms. It was as if she were stuck to her, unable to rise.
“Pei… Daowan…”
Yu Jinzhao’s tongue was tied, and her brain had stopped functioning. She could only act on instinct.
“You smell so good, I… can’t refuse…”
Pei Daowan was also suffering. In the air, all around her, and especially on Yu Jinzhao, there was a heavy scent of Mint and Citrus. She realized instantly: this was the scent of pheromones. They belonged to Yu Jinzhao. Was the swelling of the glands from before a sign of a “secondary differentiation”?
She felt a flicker of instinctive fear. The physiological disparity between an Alpha and an Omega was too great. If Yu Jinzhao truly wanted to do something now, she wouldn’t be able to resist or refuse. She wanted to push Yu Jinzhao away, but her arms felt like lead; instead of a rejection, it felt more like a submissive invitation.
Sensing the weak resistance, Yu Jinzhao seemed to regain a sliver of clarity. She caught those hands and methodically tucked them under the blanket to keep them warm. Her words were jumbled, but Pei Daowan understood the meaning.
“Hands… can’t be… outside… you’ll catch… cold… I’ll go… hangover soup… make some, better… drink it… and you’ll be fine…”
“Yu Jinzhao!”
Hearing Pei Daowan call her, Yu Jinzhao obediently tilted her head to listen. She showed none of the destructive or possessive urges common to an Alpha in heat; instead, she looked like an innocent, confused victim.
“Don’t move around. I don’t want the soup. Help me up.”
Yu Jinzhao’s eyelashes fluttered as her pupils darted about, seemingly weighing whether she should listen to Pei Daowan.
“No! Drinking… must have… soup, otherwise tomorrow morning… pain… head will hurt… and you’ll feel bad…”
Realizing Yu Jinzhao still had some basic logic, Pei Daowan breathed a sigh of relief. A subtle thought rose in her heart: even if Yu Jinzhao entered a heat cycle, she wouldn’t hurt her.
At this thought, Pei Daowan reached out. One hand cupped Yu Jinzhao’s cheek, while the other brushed aside the hair at the nape of her neck. As she expected, the area around the glands was swollen and red. No wonder she was in pain; her heat cycle had arrived.
Pei Daowan cradled the girl’s head with both hands, offering gentle comfort to make her feel better. Her voice was soft and coaxing: “Open your mouth for me, okay?”
Yu Jinzhao nodded obediently and let out an “Ah,” opening her mouth for Pei Daowan to see. Under the light, Pei Daowan saw clearly that Yu Jinzhao’s canine teeth had grown significantly sharper. This was a physical sign of an Alpha’s heat; pheromones were concentrated in the canines, and the discomfort would only subside if they were injected into an Omega’s glands.
“Does it hurt a lot right now?”
Yu Jinzhao nodded with teary eyes. She felt terrible—an indescribable feeling. Specifically, looking at the Pei Daowan in front of her made her want to pin her down. Startled by her own thoughts, Yu Jinzhao covered her mouth in fear. “Sister… it hurts… move… away… from me, I really want to… bite you…”
She struggled to get up, wanting to distance herself from Pei Daowan. Her body was filled with a sense of violence and destruction; inexplicably, she wanted to lash out.
Ultimately, her concern for Yu Jinzhao won out. Pei Daowan firmly held her down. “Don’t move.”
Yu Jinzhao wasn’t being obedient now. She felt aggrieved and pained; she was telling her to stay away for her own good, yet she wouldn’t let her move.
Because she had been drinking and was now influenced by Yu Jinzhao’s pheromones, Pei Daowan was also feeling unwell. Her glands were beginning to burn. She couldn’t let Yu Jinzhao continue releasing pheromones, or her own heat cycle would be triggered, making the situation impossible to manage.
Forcing her weak body to stay upright, Pei Daowan’s voice turned stern: “Stop moving. If you move again, I’ll hit you.”
It had been years since Yu Jinzhao had heard such a thing. Aside from childhood scoldings from her parents, no one had ever hit her. Seeing Yu Jinzhao looking dazed, as if she hadn’t taken the words to heart, Pei Daowan reached out and gave Yu Jinzhao’s cheek a sharp, though not overly hard, slap.
Slap!
It wasn’t heavy or painful, but in the silence of the night, the sound echoed between them.
Yu Jinzhao’s face turned a visible shade of red—it was already flushed, but now it was crimson. Immediately after, a tidal wave of pheromones hit. Mint and citrus instantly flooded the room, making the air feel heavy.
Yu Jinzhao lowered her head, her body trembling slightly as if she were desperately suppressing something. Pei Daowan realized belatedly that she might have made a huge mistake. She shouldn’t have slapped her; Yu Jinzhao might have been able to control herself before, but now she was completely overwhelmed.
As Yu Jinzhao’s pheromones spread, Pei Daowan’s own heat cycle was triggered prematurely. She could feel her glands pulsing with excitement. Her head throbbed. Her pheromones and Yu Jinzhao’s were unexpectedly compatible, which was why her heat had been triggered so easily.
“Sister~”
Yu Jinzhao’s face was now completely red, her eyes bloodshot. Her usual gentle and steady aura was gone, replaced by an aggressive sharpness and pressure.
Having suppressed her heat cycles with drugs for years, Pei Daowan was also suffering now. Biological necessity threatened to override her logic; her body screamed to be marked.
Yu Jinzhao, however, was a total novice. She didn’t know how to control her pheromones, let alone retract them; she only knew how to release them relentlessly. Within minutes, the air was thick with pheromones, and both of them had lost nearly all of their reason. An explosion was imminent.
In her daze, Yu Jinzhao thought she heard a cat meowing—the clinging sound of a kitten. Then, her cheeks were cupped by hands with significant force.
Pei Daowan gasped: “Yu Jinzhao! Now, you do as I say. When I say stop, you stop…”
Perhaps because she had lived as an ascetic for too long, or because she believed Yu Jinzhao wouldn’t truly hurt her, or perhaps because she couldn’t bear the way Yu Jinzhao was looking at her. At that moment, Pei Daowan’s logic crumbled. Yu Jinzhao was beautiful, wealthy, and had a decent character; even if she were just treated as a “suppressant patch” for this heat cycle, it wouldn’t be bad.
She didn’t know if Yu Jinzhao was even listening. The girl just kept her head down, breathing heavily, her fingers gripping Pei Daowan’s skirt so tightly they nearly tore the fabric.
With a mix of helplessness and resignation—she didn’t want to wake up tomorrow to a messy living room—Pei Daowan used her last shred of logic to remind her:
“Carry me upstairs. We’re going to the bedroom.”
Yu Jinzhao clearly heard that. She took a heavy breath, held it, and scooped Pei Daowan up in her arms, rushing up the stairs.
