A Scumbag Alpha Gets the Simp’s Script - Chapter 35
“Dinner is ready. Go wash your hands and eat.”
Pei Daowan obeyed submissively. Before leaving, she stole another glance at the bouquet. By the time she emerged from the bathroom, Yu Jinzhao had already laid out the meal. In addition to the dishes she had requested, there was an extra bowl of seaweed and egg drop soup.
Outside, the twilight deepened. Inside, the soft clinking of bowls and plates mixed with low whispers, and laughter rippled gently through the room…
“Whew—”
Pei Daowan set down her chopsticks, her cheeks slightly flushed. It was hard to tell if she had eaten so much because she had exhausted herself last night and hadn’t eaten all day, or because Yu Jinzhao’s cooking was simply that good. Perhaps it was both.
She hadn’t felt this full in a long time; she could hardly move. It was quite embarrassing.
“Oho~ You ate two bowls of rice today!”
Usually, she only ate one. It seemed today’s cooking was a hit. The smile on Yu Jinzhao’s face hadn’t faded all evening, her affection practically overflowing from her eyes, which were filled with tiny, glittering stars.
Pei Daowan let out a soft groan, feeling a bit like blaming Yu Jinzhao for not stopping her from eating so much, yet she had no real reason to complain.
“You do the dishes. I don’t want to.”
Yu Jinzhao absolutely loved this version of Pei Daowan—a bit spoiled, with a touch of petulance. Usually, Pei Daowan was cold and distant, rarely showing such maidenly bashfulness. This gave Yu Jinzhao a secret, proud thrill: the way Pei Daowan treated her was different from how she treated anyone else.
She decided to push her luck a little. “Mm-hmm. But I cooked tonight, and I brought back such beautiful flowers. I need a reward before I do the dishes.”
Pei Daowan furrowed her elegant brows. A reward? That was a bit difficult. Yu Jinzhao didn’t seem to lack anything; what kind of reward should she give?
Catching sight of Yu Jinzhao’s smiling face, a plan formed in Pei Daowan’s mind. She spoke softly, “Come here. I’ll give you your reward.”
Trusting her implicitly, Yu Jinzhao leaned in without a second thought. Immediately, a pair of slender fingers landed on her cheek, pinched the soft flesh, and gave it a gentle twist.
“If you won’t do them, there are plenty of people who will.”
Pei Daowan spoke with the pride of a queen, yet her aura remained gentle and calm. This contradictory contrast made her look incredibly adorable.
Yu Jinzhao’s heart practically melted. Ahhh! How can someone be this cute! The original owner was a total bastard for driving such a lovely person to that point; calling her a beast was an understatement. She vowed to herself that no matter what happened in this life, she would not let the tragedy of the past repeat itself. Perhaps she really was here for her.
“Good Sister, do you know what you look like right now?”
Pei Daowan was puzzled. What did she look like?
“Like a precious Persian cat.”
Pei Daowan arched an eyebrow. Comparing her to a cat? She was no delicate, pampered house pet. “Enough nonsense. Go wash the dishes.”
Since she was wearing slippers, she simply used her bare foot to give Yu Jinzhao a light kick, urging her toward the kitchen. Yu Jinzhao finally behaved and went to do the dishes, while Pei Daowan cradled the bouquet, breathing in its scent over and over.
Without waiting for Yu Jinzhao, she carried the flowers upstairs. She wanted to find a proper place for them—not the kitchen, where she’d only see them during meals. Once the flowers were settled, her eyes fell on the tube of ointment on the nightstand. She had applied it to the back of her neck, but… not there yet.
Earlier in the bath, it had still stung a bit. A look of rare hesitation crossed her face. After a long struggle, she decided to apply it; otherwise, it would continue to chafe when she walked.
Because the location was hidden and hard to see, Pei Daowan had to endure her embarrassment and kneel in front of the full-length mirror. She watched her reflection as she inhaled, tightening her abdomen, one hand bracing her waist while the other slowly brushed aside her hem.
In her shame, she didn’t look closely. An unprecedented sense of awkwardness surged in her heart. Her fingertips trembled as she took a bit of the ointment and tentatively reached out, guided by feeling. The moment she made contact, she held her breath and tensed her muscles. If anyone were there, they would see the sharp lines of her physique clearly with every breath.
Thinking back to last night, the physical experience Yu Jinzhao provided wasn’t great. She was too reckless, lacked any real skill, and just charged ahead blindly. Half the time she was clumsy, which made it quite uncomfortable for Pei Daowan. Plus, Yu Jinzhao had teased her so much at the start that she had lost most of her strength before things even began, leaving her crying and pleading for mercy by the end.
At the thought, Pei Daowan felt a surge of annoyance again. Was Yu Jinzhao deaf or blind? She had been in such a state, yet the girl didn’t hear or see it, only stopping when Pei Daowan had practically fallen into a stupor. She really shouldn’t have forgiven her so easily; being too indulgent would only fuel her arrogance.
Yu Jinzhao, oblivious to what was happening upstairs, was happily humming a tune while scrubbing the plates.
Since the ointment itself acted as a lubricant and things were still… sensitive, it didn’t take much effort for her fingers to apply it. Controlling her breathing, Pei Daowan felt her inner shame deepen. Currently, the mental conflict was far more agonizing than the physical sensation.
“Pei Daowan~ Good Sister~ Pei Daowan~”
Hearing Yu Jinzhao call her name from outside, her thoughts snapped back. She bit her tongue to suppress the tremor in her voice, forcing herself to sound calm.
“What is it?”
“It’s still early. I was wondering if you wanted to come down and watch a movie.”
Her fingers hadn’t even fully withdrawn, the residual ointment leaving a faint dampness on the rug. Looking at herself in the mirror, her eyelashes were wet, her usually clear pupils were like pools of water, and an unnatural flush had risen to her cheeks.
Under these circumstances, she answered, “Okay. You find a film. I’ll be down in a bit.”
“Great!”
Then came the sound of footsteps fading away. It was soft, but Pei Daowan heard it. In the next instant, her waist tensed and then trembled violently. It took a good while for her to steady her breathing. She braced her waist to sit up straight, the damp spot on the floor having grown slightly, emitting a faint medicinal scent. She glanced at the mark with an indifferent, almost careless look, before forcing herself to stand. Her legs felt weak and wouldn’t quite close.
After a moment of hesitation, she decided to pull herself together and take a cold shower. Her skin felt a bit sticky now… She stared blankly at the water’s surface. What is our relationship? Lovers? Nowhere near that level. Allies? What allies end up in bed together. Arch-enemies? Not really that either.
By the time Pei Daowan came down, nearly half an hour had passed. She had changed her pajamas and still carried a trace of moisture, looking like she’d just bathed. Yu Jinzhao hurriedly ushered her to sit and sat down right beside her. Although they were supposed to be watching a movie, she kept stealing glances at her.
Noticing the gaze, Pei Daowan spoke in a heavy tone, “Are we watching the movie, or are you watching me?”
Yu Jinzhao scratched her head sheepishly. She looked like an innocent maiden, but the question that came out was anything but pure. “How do you feel today? Did you apply the ointment? Is it better?”
Pei Daowan remained expressionless, stating the facts: “Not great. Especially your technique last night—it was truly… indescribable.”
The sky has fallen!
Yu Jinzhao’s face dropped instantly. The emphasis Pei Daowan put on the last few words felt like a severe blow to her pride. Though she didn’t consider herself a “Top” specifically—being a “Switch” was fine—this hurt. It was a massive strike to her self-esteem. Am I really that bad? She wondered if she’d ever have a chance as a lesbian again.
Pei Daowan found it a bit funny. Seeing that look of utter despair was quite interesting. Does she care that much? She decided to use this to keep her in check; after all, it was the truth. Yu Jinzhao’s “work” really wasn’t good, and the experience last night hadn’t been great.
In fairness, she couldn’t entirely blame Yu Jinzhao. It was her first time, and she didn’t exactly have an Alpha’s biological instincts, so everything was done purely on raw impulse. It lacked finesse, making her seem like a wild ox with only brute force.
Yu Jinzhao vowed to herself: No! I have to cram and learn this stuff. How could I leave Pei Daowan with such a bad impression! What a failure.
“Come here.”
Pei Daowan beckoned. Yu Jinzhao obediently rested her head in the woman’s palm, looking aggrieved and blinking with total innocence. Pei Daowan patted her head, her fingers running through the hair. Yu Jinzhao must have just washed it; the strands were fresh and dry, smelling of sea salt and lemon—the scent of her shampoo. Combined with the faint, lingering scent of her pheromones, the mixture was very pleasant. Pei Daowan took a few deep breaths, the fragrance greatly diluting the anxiety and unease hidden in her heart.
Yu Jinzhao preferred slow-paced old movies, usually art films. In this atmosphere, the movie’s audio acted as a perfect background, draping them in an ambiguous mood.
Pei Daowan lifted Yu Jinzhao’s head slightly so she was resting on her lap, idly stroking her forehead. It was an incredibly doting and indulgent posture, like an adult letting a child act spoiled. There was a light in her eyes as she watched the girl; even though she wasn’t looking closely, her movements were so tender that Yu Jinzhao felt a sudden urge to cry.
She turned her head slightly, burying her face in Pei Daowan’s lap and leaving only the back of her head visible. Her eyes were a bit wet; she didn’t want to admit she was a little homesick. Pei Daowan was being too gentle, and the way she patted her head made Yu Jinzhao feel like a child being cooed to sleep by her mother.
She had been here for months, but her heart had never found solid ground. she felt like a rootless willow catkin drifting in the wind. The only thing giving her strength was Pei Daowan. She really was here for her. Her heart finally settled into a state of unprecedented peace; she didn’t have to think or do anything, she just had to enjoy this warm embrace.
Before she knew it, Yu Jinzhao fell asleep. Perhaps she had truly exerted herself last night, and after a busy day today, she was finally exhausted…
