A Scummy Divorcee Alpha: Ex-Wife’s Top-Tier Soothing Agent - Chapter 17
Zuo Yijia didn’t fly into a rage as expected; she simply looked at her quietly.
“Whoops.” Du Wan, just as she was scrambling up, “accidentally” fell back down again. Her fall was incredibly fake, and her face wore a childish, mischievous grin. “Boss Zuo, sorry about that. My hand slipped.”
Zuo Yijia didn’t speak or move, looking as if everything were under her control.
Her abnormal behavior made Du Wan’s heart begin to waver. Where did this mermaid go to study expression management? Since when did she learn to keep her emotions so hidden?
Just as Du Wan thought she wouldn’t get a reaction and was about to sit up, feeling bored, Zuo Yijia suddenly grabbed her wrist. She slid her hand down along Du Wan’s delicate skin, leaning her upper body closer. With a sudden burst of strength, she hoisted Du Wan off of her.
“Still slipping?”
Zuo Yijia lifted her eyes, gazing at her with an intense, soulful look. Du Wan’s tiny silhouette was reflected in those pale pupils, making it seem as if this frozen world only had room for her.
“Sister Du Wan, Miss Zuo… I think I’ll get out of the car first.” Seeing that the atmosphere was taking a turn, Chai Tingyan feared being the “third wheel.” She greased her feet and made a quick exit, even taking the two bodyguards with her.
The interior of the car suddenly felt much more spacious. Only the sound of their breathing remained, clear and echoing off one another.
God, the mermaid was holding back a big move in her silence. She had successfully entranced Du Wan.
Du Wan’s mind felt like a ticking clock, the second hand landing right on the mark. A melody seemed to play, reminding her that this was her “fated moment,” but her logic quickly sent a warning: Turn the page on this chapter immediately, or else…
“Why are you dazed?” A mocking sneer curled Zuo Yijia’s lips. “Don’t you love physical contact? I’ve granted your wish. Are you happy? Do you want to take a photo to remember it?”
Zuo Yijia reached for her phone with her other hand, making a gesture as if she were going to snap a picture.
Exactly! That’s the one!
All of Du Wan’s romantic delusions vanished into thin air. Her lashes flickered, and she decided to simply lunge forward. Caught off guard, Zuo Yijia found Du Wan burying her head into her chest.
“If Boss Zuo wants to be a wishing well, why not sacrifice yourself a bit more?” Du Wan looked up, smiling shamelessly. “I also want to kiss you. Is that okay?”
Their lips were barely a finger’s width apart; even their breathing felt ambiguous. In the realm of being thick-skinned, Zuo Yijia was still a notch below. She turned her head to dodge, the tips of her ears burning a fiery red.
Du Wan took the chance to break free. Just as she was about to move to the side, Zuo Yijia grabbed her again.
“Boss Zuo, do you still remember the three-meter distance rule?” Du Wan felt a bit helpless. I can’t afford to mess with you, but I can’t even hide? This fish kept pestering her without any sense of boundaries. “My willpower is weak, and I lose control easily. Don’t blame me if you get angry later.”
“Of course I remember.” Zuo Yijia pulled out her portable metal box. “Special circumstances require special treatment.” She tore open the packaging of a syringe and beckoned to Du Wan. “Come here. Let’s make this quick.”
Du Wan: “…”
“Do we—” Du Wan swallowed hard, asking timidly, “Do we really have to do it this way?”
“Actually, for the treatment, it’s not strictly necessary to extract glandular fluid, right? Boss Zuo could just treat me like a human air freshener like before. Use me without mercy.” Du Wan closed her eyes and spread her arms, looking like she was ready for anything.
“It’s quite obvious that I have zero interest in you.” Zuo Yijia spared her a glance and began disinfecting the needle. “Your fluid is much more pleasing to the eye than you are.”
Du Wan awkwardly retracted her hands, attempting one last struggle: “I left five tubes of fluid behind. Did you use them all up? If Boss Zuo uses such a high volume, you won’t blame me when you develop a dependency, will you?”
“Didn’t you know? I never use ‘leftovers.'” Zuo Yijia removed the protective cap from the needle. Hearing Du Wan’s words, she gave a charming smile, appearing to be in a very good mood. “I no longer have to worry about those issues. To me, you are like—”
“A speck of dust.” She flicked her finger as if brushing dust off her coat, her eyes reflecting a faint reddish glow. “I hadn’t found the right way to clean the dust before, but not long ago, I found it.”
“You won’t be able to influence me anymore,” Zuo Yijia emphasized, her smile vanishing. “To me, you are insignificant.”
Du Wan lowered her head upon hearing this. She fumbled with her coat buttons, then started inspecting the leather seat pocket—anywhere but at the woman beside her.
She has never felt more detestable!
“Alright.” Zuo Yijia took out a sterile swab and commanded, “Stick out your tongue.”
Du Wan wasn’t about to listen; she turned to run.
Zuo Yijia blocked her path with a long leg and gripped her jaw with her hand, forcing her mouth open to reveal the tip of her tongue behind her teeth. She then deftly pricked it with the needle.
Before Du Wan could even react, the fluid extraction was finished. But this time was different from before; Du Wan snapped her mouth shut, her tongue stinging sharply while her head began to spin.
Zuo Yijia’s palm had inevitably caught some saliva. she pulled out a tissue and began meticulously wiping between her fingers.
“Boss Zuo.” Du Wan leaned against the seat back, turning her head. “Your technique is terrible. My head is spinning.”
“Trying to lie to me again?” Zuo Yijia felt like she couldn’t get her palm clean no matter how much she wiped, her brow furrowed in disgust.
Determined not to believe her again, Zuo Yijia tossed the dirty tissue aside and began packing her things. “I’m leaving. I’ll come find you at the same time tomorrow.”
Du Wan panted heavily against the seat, a large patch of white mist fogging up the car window. She forced her hand up to wipe it, and as a figure came into view, her pupils constricted instantly.
“Boss Zuo, I’m not lying to you.” Du Wan forced herself to sit upright. “Also, I think it would be best if you didn’t leave for the moment.”
“You are a habitual liar with a long history of bad habits. How many times have you deceived me?” Behind Zuo Yijia, a sliver of light peeked through the car door, highlighting the fine dust floating around her. She turned around and asked coldly, “Are you still worth my trust?”
Du Wan wanted to say something, but there was no time. She suddenly tackled Zuo Yijia to the floor and pulled the car door shut with one hand. She covered the mermaid’s mouth and shook her head at the frantically struggling woman. After completing this sequence of “insubordination,” Du Wan leaned into her ear and whispered, “Boss Zuo, you have to trust me just one more time.”
With that, she frantically began thinking of a counter-strategy.
Dammit, why now of all times?
How did Lou Xuehan finish her scene so early!?
“Wait a minute…” Zuo Yijia gave a pained, low gasp. She slapped away Du Wan’s hand that was pressing down on her and couldn’t help but lose her temper. “Are you taking this opportunity to touch me inappropriately?”
Huh?
Du Wan clutched her stinging hand, only then realizing that the “softness” she was pressing against was indeed—quite extraordinary.
Her face turned an explosive shade of red. She bolted up like a firecracker, her head hitting the car door with a loud BANG. Du Wan clutched her head and was forced to lie back down, whispering apologetically, “Boss Zuo, just bear with it for a second.”
She didn’t even dare look at the mermaid’s face as she continued with her shocking words, “If it’s really that bad, I’ll let you touch me back, okay?”
