A Tsundere Beauty Omega is Stubborn but Sweet - Chapter 11
Perhaps the night wind was too biting, or perhaps they simply wanted a change of scenery to continue their conversation; Yu You suddenly turned and began walking toward the iron gate.
Zhou Muxian stood silently by the door. As Yu You reached it and raised her hand to push, Zhou Muxian gently pulled it open from the inside.
Under the dim light, a pair of large eyes beneath heavy smoky makeup flashed with a hint of shock.
Yu You hadn’t expected Zhou Muxian to come, let alone to be standing at the door, silently observing everything.
Tap, tap—
The sound of the Incense-Burning Princess’s high heels approached from a distance. Zhou Muxian reached out, grabbed the stunned Yu You, and yanked her inside.
Thud—
Then, she ruthlessly slammed the iron gate shut and locked it.
There was a narrow flight of stairs leading from the rooftop to the iron gate. There were no bright light sources nearby, only tiny light beads wrapped around the handrails, twinkling like stars in the dark night.
Although they stood on the same step, Yu You—wearing stiletto heels—was half a head taller than Zhou Muxian, giving her a naturally condescending perspective.
Her chin was tilted high, looking perfectly righteous, as if she hadn’t realized she’d done anything wrong at all.
Zhou Muxian sniffed, her unblinking eyes glistening with a few stray tears. She slowly looked up at the person before her, her gaze seemingly saying:
Sister, you’ve made me sad.
Meeting Zhou Muxian’s eyes, Yu You’s face immediately flooded with unease. Her gaze flickered; just as she was about to explain, a sudden knocking sounded from behind them.
Knock, knock, knock—
It was followed by the Princess’s amused voice: “Youyou? Why did you lock the door? Hurry up and open it. We still need to discuss the ratio of life to love in detail.”
Life and love?
They’ve already discussed things that deeply?!
Zhou Muxian’s breathing grew ragged, and a flash of irritation crossed her eyes. She quickly suppressed it, looking up at Yu You with a persistent, pitiful expression.
Yu You awkwardly smoothed her curly hair over her shoulder as the person outside spoke again in a warbling tone.
“Youyou, it’s very cold out here. Open the door for me, okay? Don’t be mad at me. I really have nothing to do with that Zhou Muxian person. You have to believe me—was our time together abroad all a lie?
We were so happy then. Do you remember the white pigeons in the plaza? If you’re willing, I’ll book a flight tonight to go see the pigeons with you.”
Zhou Muxian couldn’t listen any longer, and she certainly couldn’t keep up the act.
She dropped the “pitiful puppy” look and tilted her head, staring at Yu You, waiting for a rational explanation.
Yu You didn’t feel that her past actions were wrong, nor did she think anything was out of line. Furthermore, she hadn’t actively sought out the Princess today; the woman had insisted on talking to her.
Yet, under Zhou Muxian’s intense stare, Yu You felt a strange surge of guilt.
When people are embarrassed, they tend to make themselves look busy.
Yu You began adjusting her hair again, walking down the stairs as she muttered, “I need to tell Zizi I’m heading home first.”
Zhou Muxian didn’t say a word; she simply followed her.
Wherever Yu You went, she went. After a few steps, Yu You looked back at her in surprise, but she still said nothing.
Finally, they stopped at the door of the largest private room.
“Sister Zizi.”
“Mhm. Leaving already? Have you been drinking? Do you want me to find someone to drive you?”
A cold, elegant beauty stepped slowly out of the room. Her gaze swept over Yu You and landed on Zhou Muxian.
In the brief moment they were staring at each other, a cute, playful head popped up over the elegant beauty’s shoulder, looking out with a smile. Her gaze also skipped over Yu You and fixed on Zhou Muxian.
Presumably, the elegant beauty was Zizi, and the playful one was Chengcheng.
Seeing the natural, tacit understanding between the three of them, it was clear they were very, very close friends.
Since it’s the first meeting, shouldn’t I score some points with Yu You’s friends?
Thinking of this, Zhou Muxian hooked her fingers into Yu You’s hand hanging by her side, gave it a light shake, and hid behind her as if she were socially anxious.
Zizi and Chengcheng burst out laughing, teasing to lighten the mood: “Youyou, when did you get so lucky to have such a little tail following you?”
“She looks so young and obedient. A student? Surely not still in high school? Tsk tsk, Youyou, that’s a bit unethical of you.”
Most people at the birthday party were in evening gowns or suits; by contrast, Zhou Muxian—in her sweater, wide-leg pants, and long straight hair tied in a simple ponytail—really did look like a student.
Of course, she was a student, but a university student, not a high schooler.
Yu You glanced at the person behind her, her lip twitching. She looked annoyed, but she didn’t push her away. She explained curtly: “She’s my…”
The word “sister” got stuck in her throat.
Yu You paused and changed her phrasing: “She’s my parents’ other daughter.”
At those words, several people inside the room rushed to the door, poking their heads out to look at Zhou Muxian, discussing her right in front of Yu You without any hesitation.
“So she’s the real young miss of the Yu family.”
“Auntie and Uncle Yu must be heartbroken. This is their biological daughter, lost for twenty years! They must be terrified of her even ‘melting’ in their hands now.”
“Exactly. If it weren’t for the daughter swap, the real heiress wouldn’t have suffered outside for twenty years.”
“If you ask me, Yu You needs to reign in that ‘young miss’ temper of hers. How can she have no guilt at all? If it weren’t for her, the real daughter wouldn’t have had it so rough.”
Snobbery is a dark constant of human nature.
In their eyes, Yu You was now a “drowned rat.” They weren’t going to flatter her like they used to; it was considered an act of “kindness” that they weren’t kicking her while she was down.
One person even squeezed out of the room and rushed toward Zhou Muxian, trying to drape a fur coat smelling of woody perfume over her.
“You’re wearing so little, don’t catch a cold. Wear Sister’s coat.”
Zhou Muxian dodged the stranger’s “kindness” and wrapped her arms tightly around Yu You’s slender waist, resting her head softly on Yu You’s arm. “I only have one good sister, Yu You. Sister, take me home.”
Yu You’s ashen face softened instantly. She tried to suppress a smile, but it eventually bloomed across her face.
She took the chance to laugh openly: “Sister Zizi, Sister Chengcheng, I’m heading home then.”
“Alright, see you later.”
Zhou Muxian clung to Yu You like a boneless koala as they were carried into the elevator.
Yu You’s cold voice rang in her ear: “Still haven’t let go? Do you really think of me as your ‘good sister’ now?”
“Well… what kind of ‘good sister’ secretly goes to see an old flame?”
Zhou Muxian let out a long sigh and slowly let go, turning her head to face the right wall of the elevator to avoid looking at Yu You.
“What ‘old flame’? You have such a foul mouth. I’ve said it before—the Princess and I were just flirty, we never dated! Never!”
Yu You was incredibly sensitive to the term “old flame,” reacting like a tigress whose tail had been stepped on.
Zhou Muxian looked back and pouted in accusation: “You didn’t date then, but you wanted to today. You were already talking about life and love.”
“You’re overthinking it,” Yu You rebutted with calculated brevity.
Ding—
The elevator reached the first floor and opened slowly. As they walked out one after the other, Zhou Muxian muttered under her breath, seemingly to herself:
“Does Sister still remember the video we filmed last night?”
Yu You stopped in her tracks and turned, crossing her arms as she looked at Zhou Muxian. “I came for Zizi’s birthday party, not for the Princess’s. Therefore, it wasn’t a mistake of me ‘actively seeking’ her out. Understood?”
“Understood! As long as Sister is willing to explain, I will always believe her unconditionally!”
Zhou Muxian flashed a smile. Setting aside her unreadable eyes, the smile was pure, obedient, and very moving.
Yu You suddenly remembered Zhou Muxian calling her “good sister” in front of everyone earlier. Her heart felt a strange itch, but Zhou Muxian’s old, cruel words still lingered in her mind.
Sweetness and bitterness clashed in her thoughts.
Yu You grew annoyed again. She let out a cold huff and strode toward the exit. “Who’s explaining to you? Do I even need to explain? Believe what you want.”
Zhou Muxian hadn’t expected this reaction; she froze on the spot, her smile hardening. She noticed the person walking away had slowed her pace, looking as if she were about to turn back…
Hurriedly, Zhou Muxian bit her lip and stared at the ground with a look of pure grievance.
Sure enough, the tap-tap of high heels returned and stopped beside her.
“Home.”
Yu You’s voice was cold and stiff.
Zhou Muxian blinked rapidly, trying to squeeze out some tears, but failed. She simply squatted down, hugged her knees, and buried her head in them.
The air remained frozen for a long time…
Zhou Muxian stayed motionless for so long she almost gave up on the act.
Suddenly, she felt a weight on her head—someone was gently patting her. Zhou Muxian’s heart skipped a beat, and her hands gripping her knees trembled slightly.
Yu You actually patted my head!
“Home.”
Yu You’s voice was still cold and stiff.
But Zhou Muxian heard it with immense joy. she snapped her head up, eyes sparkling like stars as she stood. “Okay, let’s go home.”
No matter how wronged or angry she felt, she acted like a puppy who held no grudges, always meeting her with a smile.
The suspicion in Yu You’s eyes faded slightly. However, as she turned around, her expression held a trace of melancholy and loneliness that was heartbreaking to see—it made one want to give her a comforting hug.
Seeing her so genuinely downcast, Zhou Muxian didn’t dare to be pushy. She simply followed quietly behind her, thinking silently to herself:
I must work hard to make Sister happy.
