A Tsundere Beauty Omega is Stubborn but Sweet - Chapter 8
Under Yu You’s tightly knit brows was a pair of “peach blossom” eyes burning with fury—but if you looked closely, you could discern a flicker of heat/desire buried within that anger.
The cocktail of strange pheromones in the bar, mixed with the heavy charcoal smoke emanating from the Incense-Burning Princess beside her, made Zhou Muxian uncomfortable. She had to use every ounce of her will to remain unaffected.
If she was struggling this much, it was even worse for Yu You, whose self-control was notoriously poor.
Zhou Muxian shoved the person off her shoulder, letting the Princess stumble and collapse onto the sofa. She strode over the woman’s knees and headed straight for Yu You, whose face was becoming increasingly flushed.
“Don’t be afraid. I brought suppressants.”
Zhou Muxian reached into her pocket for the Omega-specific medicine. As she drew the syringe and leaned toward Yu You, that faint, ethereal scent of daisies crept into her mind.
It caused her hand to tremble violently; her footsteps faltered, and she lost her balance. Her own Alpha scent—the fragrance of Mandragora—suddenly leaked out uncontrollably.
Yu You, who was already at her limit, smelled the Mandragora. Her eyes instantly lost focus. She leaned instinctively against Zhou Muxian’s shoulder, her arms wrapping around the other girl’s slender waist, tightening the grip subconciously.
Zhou Muxian shuddered, her own gaze turning misty. She instinctively pulled the girl closer…
It wasn’t until Yu You bit down hard on her right shoulder that the sharp sting snapped her back to reality. Zhou Muxian hurriedly fumbled two scent-blocking patches out of her pocket, slapping one on the back of her own neck and the other on Yu You’s.
The Mandragora scent, which hadn’t leaked much to begin with, vanished instantly. However, the lingering trace of daisies remained hauntingly present.
Zhou Muxian injected the Omega suppressant into the gland on the nape of Yu You’s neck. Perhaps because the dose was timely, the girl on her shoulder seemed to wake up as if from a short nap.
She snapped her body upright. Before Zhou Muxian could even open her mouth to explain, Yu You raised her hand and delivered a crisp, loud slap to her face.
I helped you restrain your heat, and you hit me?
Zhou Muxian felt a sting of injustice. When she looked up at Yu You, she saw those large, watery eyes blinking at her—nine parts fury mixed with one part of nearly imperceptible grievance.
But that one part of grievance was enough to make anyone’s soul wander.
Several passing Alphas slowed their pace to watch, waiting for the “beauty in distress” to be bullied so they could step in and score some points.
Zhou Muxian felt herself breaking into a hot sweat, her body swaying involuntarily. She had to look away. Who could stand being stared at by Yu You with such a pitiful, direct gaze?
Zhou Muxian slowly closed her eyes, feeling the Mandragora pheromones threatening to leak through again. At this moment, she was actually grateful for Yu You’s blunt, non-pretentious personality.
If Yu You spent her days at home acting like a “Green Tea”—seductive and teasing—Zhou Muxian really wouldn’t be able to resist.
Her breathing grew ragged. Ignoring everything else, she pulled out an Alpha-specific suppressant and injected it into the back of her own hand.
It wasn’t as fast as a neck injection, but for Zhou Muxian, it was enough.
When her vision finally cleared, Yu You was gone. She scanned the room but saw no sign of her; only the Princess remained, slumped in a drunken stupor on the sofa.
A chaotic bar is a dangerous place for an Omega with no self-control.
Zhou Muxian searched frantically, weaving through the crowd of drunken Alphas and Omegas.
“Hi, can you help me?”
Perhaps because they were nearly unconscious from drink, several Alphas—not just Omegas—reached out to grab her, blocking her path.
“Sorry, let me through.”
Zhou Muxian brushed past them. She searched the venue circle after circle, but Yu You was nowhere to be found. Thinking of how easily that “little dummy” could be taken advantage of, Zhou Muxian broke into a cold sweat. She tried calling her, but there was no answer.
The anger smoldering in her heart flared up. Her Mandragora scent surged out from beneath the blocking patch, attracting several dazed Omegas.
“Sister, you’re so beautiful.”
“Sister, can we be friends?”
This time, Zhou Muxian was too furious to be gentle. She rejected them coldly and shoved people out of her way. She stormed into the manager’s office and, using her powerful Alpha presence, forced the owner to pull up the surveillance footage.
On the monitor, Yu You—conspicuous in her wavy hair and goose-yellow sweater—was visible. Almost the exact moment Zhou Muxian had reached for the Alpha suppressant, Yu You had turned and left.
She walked quickly with her arms crossed, looking ready for a fight. The crowd had wisely parted for her.
Even though she had left the bar, the outside wasn’t safe either!
Zhou Muxian charged out into the street. Seeing the bright sky and the high sun, she let out a self-deprecating laugh.
Care leads to chaos.
She checked the time: 11:30 AM. If she left now and grabbed a quick bite, she’d make it to her afternoon class. She took a deep breath of the fresh air, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for the university.
By the time she arrived, it was nearly 1:00 PM. The cafeteria was almost empty, except for a short-haired girl in a black padded coat sitting in the far corner. Her tray was untouched; her face was buried in her hands, and her shoulders were shaking with sobs.
Zhou Muxian sat down nearby with her food, eating while keeping an eye on the girl.
The scent of Popcorn began to drift through the air. Zhou Muxian looked around, confused—there were no shops selling popcorn nearby.
Thump—
The crying girl suddenly slid from her chair to the floor, curling up like a shrimp. As Zhou Muxian walked over, the popcorn scent grew overwhelming. Noticing the girl’s flushed face, she realized: This is her Omega pheromone.
Luckily, she had suppressants on her.
Zhou Muxian pulled one out and injected it into the girl’s neck. Seeing her breathing stabilize, she said nothing and turned to leave.
But the girl grabbed the hem of her pants and whispered, “Thank you. What’s your name?”
“Zhou Muxian.”
“Can you help me up?” The girl looked up, her eyes swollen like walnuts from crying. Seeing no immediate response, she timidly withdrew her hand. “It’s okay.”
It wasn’t that Zhou Muxian was heartless; she simply avoided intimate contact with anyone. But seeing the girl like this, she reached out. The short-haired girl’s eyes lit up as if seeing a lifeline; she grabbed Zhou Muxian’s hand without hesitation.
“Hi, Muxian. I’m Ge Yuan.”
“Mhm.”
Zhou Muxian returned to her lunch. A moment later, Ge Yuan brought her tray over and sat opposite her.
“Thank you for helping me just now.”
Ge Yuan thanked her softly. Seeing Zhou Muxian’s cold expression, she didn’t dare say more. She placed a transparent file folder on the table and lowered her head to eat her vegetables.
At first, Zhou Muxian thought she was dieting, but when Ge Yuan finished a massive plate of rice, she realized she had misjudged her. She quietly pushed her untouched egg custard over.
“For me?” Ge Yuan looked at her in disbelief. She hadn’t expected this cold person to be so thoughtful.
“Mhm.”
As she spoke, Zhou Muxian glanced at the folder. It was an application for financial aid.
In the “Father” column, the name was: Ge An.
The reason for the application: Father suddenly diagnosed with liver cancer; needs large sums for treatment.
She’s Ge An’s daughter.
The folder was bulging; Zhou Muxian guessed the rest was her father’s medical reports.
“Is your father ill?”
Zhou Muxian’s sudden question made the girl stiffen. As she ate the custard, two more lines of tears fell.
Before Ge Yuan could respond, Zhou Muxian continued: “Misdiagnoses are common. I happen to know some top-tier experts. How about this: tomorrow at 8:00 AM, bring your father, and we’ll get him re-examined.”
Ge Yuan looked up, stunned. How could she be this lucky? It took her a full minute to process before she stammered, “O-okay. Th-thank you… thank you so much.”
Since I can’t convince Ge An, I’ll start with his daughter.
Zhou Muxian nodded and showed her a QR code. Once the friend request was sent, she stood up. “Tomorrow at 8:00 AM, meet me at the East Gate. I’ll pick you up.”
“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
As Ge Yuan watched her leave, she bowed repeatedly. She couldn’t believe it. At her most pathetic moment, she had met her crush—and her crush was introducing her to a great doctor.
After classes ended, Zhou Muxian rushed back to the Yu estate. In the courtyard, Yu You was swaying gloomily on a swing set. Hearing movement, she looked up, saw Zhou Muxian, and immediately turned her head away.
Zhou Muxian took two steps toward her but spotted Father Yu’s car approaching from the garage. She changed course and flagged him down.
Hearing that they were rushing to an out-of-town meeting, she hopped in the car and explained her request quickly.
“That’s a small matter. I’ll call Secretary Chen and have her arrange everything with the doctors for you and your friend,” Father Yu said, delighted that Zhou Muxian was finally asking him for help.
“Thanks, Dad. You can drop me here.”
Zhou Muxian had another urgent matter. After the car stopped, she sprinted back toward the house.
To her surprise, the swing set was empty. And the front door… was locked tight.
She pulled out her phone to call Yu You.
Blocked.
Damn. This time, she’s really not going to be coaxed easily.
