A Vicious Scum Alpha in a Heartthrob Novel - Chapter 9
Xu Qingshui was unexpectedly fierce this time, but as things progressed, she realized she shouldn’t have been.
Fundamentally, Fu Jinghua hadn’t done anything wrong; she was simply keeping secrets, which wasn’t an unforgivable offense. Using the influence of pheromones to engage in such intimacy while harboring those thoughts felt, in a way, quite unethical.
Gradually, Xu Qingshui softened her touch. She finally regained her composure from that strange flare of anger. As a soothing gesture, she brushed her hand against the woman’s closed eyelids.
In her daze, Fu Jinghua felt the touch; her eyes remained shut, but her body trembled slightly. Suddenly, she grabbed Xu Qingshui’s hand, pulled it to her lips, and bit down hard.
It stung, but for Xu Qingshui, it wasn’t nearly enough to be called painful.
Unexpectedly, their gazes met. Those eyes were shimmering with moisture, but only because they were trapped in the cage of desire.
Xu Qingshui suddenly felt a bit deflated, yet it was undeniably true: she liked the woman’s face and body. Food and sex are human nature.
The marking felt like it lasted for an eternity, yet also for no time at all, until finally, Fu Jinghua called for a pause. Once calmed down, Xu Qingshui was more than willing to listen.
She obediently stopped and proactively asked, “Shall I draw a hot bath for you?”
Fu Jinghua nodded. She didn’t look at Xu Qingshui; her breath hitched rhythmically, clearly not yet recovered. Her eyes held a beautiful, misty sheen, and her voice was a forced, icy calm: “Fine. Go ahead.”
Seeing this, Xu Qingshui’s eyes crinkled imperceptibly. She had to admit, seeing the woman like this gave her a rare sense of amusement.
Once everything was prepared, she let Fu Jinghua go wash up. The woman had already regained her usual aloofness; without sparing Xu Qingshui a glance, she walked straight into the bathroom.
As she passed, Xu Qingshui caught the scent of her fragrance. She watched Fu Jinghua’s fair profile and noticed her reddened earlobes. She couldn’t help but chuckle. It seemed Ms. Fu wasn’t quite as cold and collected as her expression suggested.
Then again, it made sense. Although she had been adored by many since childhood, she felt only impatience and loathing toward Alphas. She was disgusted by pheromones that tried to suppress her, which was why she had never truly been with anyone. It must have been hard for her to endure until now just for the sake of Xu Qingshui’s pheromones.
Xu Qingshui’s smile slowly faded into a neutral line.
When Fu Jinghua emerged from the bath, the cold indifference had returned to her eyes. This made Xu Qingshui more uncomfortable than any other emotion—because it was glaringly obvious that Fu Jinghua felt this was nothing special.
It was just a contract, after all.
Xu Qingshui lowered her eyes and entered the bathroom without a word. By the time she finished and returned to the room, Fu Jinghua was already in bed, eyes tightly shut and breathing steadily as if she were already asleep.
Xu Qingshui climbed into bed quietly. Although they didn’t share a blanket and couldn’t see each other’s faces, she still chose to sleep with her back to Fu Jinghua.
In the middle of the night, while Xu Qingshui was deep in sleep, she suddenly felt a weight on her waist. Her body tensed instinctively, but a second later, the scent of roses flooded her nose. Her tension melted away. She opened her eyes and reflexively reached for the person beside her.
The lights were out, so she couldn’t see Fu Jinghua’s face. She only felt a moderate pressure on her shoulder; something was trying to sniff her gland, accompanied by warm breaths. Suddenly, she felt a sharp lick.
Xu Qingshui froze. She had never experienced this sensation before, but surprisingly, she didn’t hate it. She didn’t intend to wake Fu Jinghua—the woman had been exhausted today, after all.
However, there was a high probability the woman would be embarrassed tomorrow morning. With that mischievous thought, Xu Qingshui pretended she felt nothing, closed her eyes, and drifted back to sleep.
The next morning, before Xu Qingshui was fully awake, she felt the weight lift from her shoulder. She instinctively reached out and pressed down on the person trying to leave, her eyes still closed. Her voice was raspy with sleep: “Don’t move.”
The person beneath her caught their breath, then snapped: “Xu Qingshui, get your filthy hands off me!”
Xu Qingshui was fully awake now. Memories flooded back. She opened her eyes and asked provocatively, “Why are you so close to me?”
Fu Jinghua realized instantly: the Alpha was doing this on purpose. When she had pinned her down just now, she clearly knew she was there—there wasn’t a hint of surprise—yet now she was saying this.
She had likely drifted over in her sleep last night. An Alpha’s natural attraction was something she couldn’t control while unconscious.
How humiliating.
Fu Jinghua’s waist was still in Xu Qingshui’s grip. She frowned; Xu Qingshui was genuinely wicked, yet those pheromones were something she found herself craving. She sneered, “It was just the pheromones. Did you think I’d come over of my own accord?”
Xu Qingshui really didn’t enjoy the things that came out of that mouth. She withdrew her hand and countered, “You still came over, though.”
Fu Jinghua was fuming, but since it was true, she was helpless. Finally, she moved to get up. Before she could leave the bed, the specific ringtone of the phone on the nightstand went off.
It was her grandmother.
Fu Jinghua hesitated, glanced instinctively at Xu Qingshui, and then answered. “Jinghua, why did it take so long to answer? Did you sleep well last night?” a kind voice asked from the other end.
Fu Jinghua paused. She knew she couldn’t hide anything from her grandmother, who had likely heard the rumors and was checking in. She chose her words carefully: “I slept very well. I just woke up, so I was a bit slow.”
“Are you with Little Xu?”
The volume wasn’t high, but Grandmother’s voice was robust; everyone in the room could hear her. Fu Jinghua glanced at Xu Qingshui, then looked away. “Mm-hmm.”
Her tone softened significantly when speaking to her grandmother. Xu Qingshui watched her with a hint of surprise. Fearing her grandmother might say something else, Fu Jinghua tried to change the subject: “Grandma, why are you calling so early?”
“I saw the video online. You and Little Xu are getting along quite well. Little Xu is a good girl. If she hadn’t saved me back then—at my age, if I’d collapsed outside, others would have been afraid of being scammed. Only Little Xu wasn’t afraid.”
As the topic began to drift, Fu Jinghua rubbed her forehead. “Grandma, I know. She saved you. I’ve already expressed my thanks to her.”
Xu Qingshui raised an eyebrow. She wasn’t aware of that part.
“Expressing it is good, but I’ve been thinking: it’s better to say these things in person to be more sincere. I bought a lot of groceries this morning to cook lunch. Come back with Little Xu at noon, and let’s have a meal together.”
Fu Jinghua felt helpless. “Grandma, we’ve thanked her many times already. And Xu Qingshui is busy today; it’s not convenient.”
“Ah? What did you say? The signal is a bit weak here. Then it’s settled. I’ll wait for you both to come back.”
Grandmother claimed the signal was weak, but her voice was loud and clear, almost intentionally aggravating. Xu Qingshui saw Fu Jinghua’s defeated expression—a rare sight—and couldn’t help but chuckle.
Grandmother’s voice instantly spiked: “Jinghua, is Little Xu right there with you?”
Fu Jinghua: “…” Since she couldn’t take her anger out on her grandmother, she glared at Xu Qingshui.
Xu Qingshui shrugged, took the phone, and spoke in a sweet voice: “Grandma, it’s me, Little Xu! It’s been so long since I’ve heard your voice, I missed you terribly.”
“Aiyoo~ Good child.”
Her tone was so gentle it was as if she were speaking to her own grandmother. On the other end, the old lady was ecstatic; one could almost see her smiling face through the line.
As the actual granddaughter, Fu Jinghua: “…”
Finally, she chose to go wash up. She figured Xu Qingshui wouldn’t say anything that violated their principles; the Alpha was silver-tongued and knew how to charm the elderly. Fu Jinghua didn’t want to upset her grandmother, but staying any longer would make her own chest feel tight. Better to leave and find some peace.
By the time she finished washing up and returned to the room, Xu Qingshui was still on the phone. Fu Jinghua was shocked and felt a bizarre sense of respect. If it were her, she could never chat for that long. That mouth of Xu Qingshui’s can actually speak human words.
She left the room again, initially planning to order takeout. Then, remembering they were going to her grandmother’s for lunch, she scavenged for some snacks to tide her over.
As for Xu Qingshui? Who cared? Let her starve.
