A Vicious Scum Alpha in a Heartthrob Novel - Chapter 8
Xu Qingshui felt as though she had fallen into an incredibly deep sleep. By the time she woke up, it was already late evening; looking out the window, the sun was sinking behind the mountains.
She rose from the sofa, her body stiff from the long slumber. She straightened up and stretched her limbs, assuming she was alone in the house. Her movements were somewhat large as she began performing a set of calisthenics (radio gymnastics). After the routine, she felt much better than before.
However, when she turned around, her eyes suddenly locked with Fu Jinghua’s.
Fu Jinghua: “…”
The scene was undeniably awkward. In a moment of mental static, Xu Qingshui blurted out an explanation: “My health is actually quite good, I’m just doing this to make it even better.”
Fu Jinghua found this increasingly baffling. Although Xu Qingshui wasn’t as gloomy as before, there were times when she couldn’t fathom what was going on inside the Alpha’s head. She asked, “Why are you explaining this to me?”
Because I’m afraid you’ll think I’m incapable. Actually, I’m very capable.
Naturally, she couldn’t say that out loud. Xu Qingshui bypassed the topic, trying to reclaim some of her dignity by asking, “Why haven’t you left yet?”
Fu Jinghua frowned. She admitted that no one had ever given her an eviction notice before, and Xu Qingshui’s words made her feel quite uncomfortable. However, since the surprises from this woman were becoming a regular occurrence, Fu Jinghua felt a strange sense of calm. She reminded her, “This is my house.”
The implication: If anyone’s leaving, it’s you.
Xu Qingshui felt she really must have slept too long; her brain was foggy. But then, a thought suddenly struck her.
Fu Jinghua actually hadn’t kicked her out.
It wasn’t that Xu Qingshui had masochistic tendencies, but based on her understanding of Fu Jinghua—a prickly little cat—if she truly didn’t want someone staying here, she would have shown it directly. Yet now, she said nothing.
Xu Qingshui couldn’t help but look at her current appearance. She was wearing a red camisole dress, leaving her collarbones clearly exposed. Her throat moved slightly, an inexplicable itch rising in her heart.
She tested the waters: “I’m going to take a shower?”
Fu Jinghua gave a soft “Mm.”
Xu Qingshui grew even more suspicious. She picked up her phone, checked the time, and said casually, “Then… I’m sleeping here tonight?”
Two questions in a row were enough to show how unbelievable she found the situation.
Fu Jinghua finally realized the Alpha couldn’t imagine being invited to stay. While she disliked the old Xu Qingshui, the current version hadn’t done anything excessive, so she wasn’t about to throw her out on the street. Besides, they were married.
Fu Jinghua replied, “Where else would you go? We’re married and signed an agreement. Do you want to go back on your word?”
“The ‘highly principled’ Ms. Xu?”
Xu Qingshui chuckled, realizing she was being teased about her “contract spirit” from earlier today. Having received a definitive answer, she lost her previous restraint. Even though they had an agreement, looking at Fu Jinghua’s face still gave her a touch of unidentifiable guilt. So, she deliberately avoided bringing it up.
However, Fu Jinghua clearly didn’t mind that incident. She was even calm enough to discuss the agreement with her, her brows arched in a “Are you scared?” look.
Because the woman was so beautiful, the provocation didn’t feel offensive. Instead, Xu Qingshui felt her hands itch with the impulse to touch her.
“Of course I won’t go back on it. I’m just afraid Ms. Fu won’t be able to handle it.” No matter how cute she looked, it was still a challenge. Looking at the upward curve of Fu Jinghua’s lips, Xu Qingshui refused to back down.
As soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them. The topic felt too suggestive, as if her mind were filled with nothing but that business. But what was said was like spilled water. She added, “But Ms. Fu is strong and fit; I’m sure you won’t call for a stop.”
Added together, these sentences only made the atmosphere more ambiguously charged.
Fu Jinghua laughed from pure irritation. She scanned the Alpha from head to toe. Although she craved the other’s body due to her heat and was intentionally releasing pheromones, the thick-skinned Xu Qingshui made her want to extinguish her arrogance.
“Ms. Xu is the one who is ‘strong and fit.’ You feel uncomfortable just waking up from a sofa and have to do calisthenics.” As she spoke, her gaze was provocative, pointedly looking at the other’s arms and fingers.
Fu Jinghua added sarcastically, “Ms. Xu’s stamina is truly… nothing to write home about.”
Fu Jinghua’s tongue really is poisonous.
Xu Qingshui took a deep breath and countered, “Whether it’s good or not, wouldn’t you know if you tried?”
Fu Jinghua arched an eyebrow, her eyes conveying a thousand unspoken words as she teased, “Then go ahead and try.”
Without another word, Xu Qingshui went to take a shower.
Xu Qingshui ended up taking a cold shower. No matter how much her heart was racing, she had to maintain her logic. The influence of pheromones was too much; it was making it impossible for her to think normally. She had just said something so childish, as if she hadn’t grown up. But God as her witness, Xu Qingshui had known for a long time that she wasn’t a child anymore.
This was bad—very bad. She hated this feeling of losing control. Having emotions meant having the potential to get hurt. It was all the pheromones; once the cycle passed and they grew tired of each other, it would be fine.
As the cold water washed over her, her brain slowly regained its rationality. She didn’t believe Fu Jinghua would suddenly change her views and be with her without any reservations. Her coming back drunk last time was not an accident, and neither was this.
She had smelled the rich scent of roses—Fu Jinghua’s pheromones. Pheromones don’t just leak unless the owner allows it, let alone for a public figure. She wouldn’t accidentally release them.
Unless… she was seducing her.
With this thought, Xu Qingshui’s mind became even clearer. She remembered the touch during the clarification video and the provocative behavior just now. Most of it was likely an act. And the goal was to provoke her—provoke her into doing what? Into injecting pheromones again.
Fu Jinghua wanted her pheromones but didn’t want her to see through the intent.
Why? They had already signed a contract. But given Fu Jinghua’s personality and history, would she really develop feelings for an Alpha so easily?
Xu Qingshui recalled the original plot. Fu Jinghua was preyed upon by several Alphas, and although she managed to deal with them, she eventually cut out the gland of one of them. No matter the context, she was a ruthless person. Even when those Alphas offered her resources, she didn’t care. She hated every predatory Alpha equally.
Would such a person really do that with her just because of a “need”?
Xu Qingshui suddenly snapped to a realization.
The woman wanted something else.
She wanted Xu Qingshui’s pheromones.
There was something in her pheromones that the woman needed—something different from other Alphas.
She needed to go get her own pheromones checked.
However, realizing the woman wanted something from her made Xu Qingshui sigh in relief. Having a demand was good; it meant no true feelings were involved. And if there were no true feelings, there would be no lingering pain when she left.
When she came out again, Xu Qingshui was only wearing a thin layer of pajamas, commando underneath. She didn’t care about the details, knowing Fu Jinghua wouldn’t either.
She walked into the bedroom. Fu Jinghua was already on the bed, her voice sounding soft: “You took so long. Are you… incapable?”
Stripping away the emotional influence, Xu Qingshui heard the provocation and the “coquettishness” in her tone. It was so obvious.
Xu Qingshui’s breath hitched. She didn’t reply. Instead, she got onto the bed and silenced Fu Jinghua with a kiss.
Fu Jinghua was stunned for a moment, then frowned, instinctively trying to push Xu Qingshui’s tongue away. That was a movement that couldn’t be faked.
Xu Qingshui’s heart sank, and she licked even more forcefully. This time, she didn’t hold back at all. She showed her true self completely—anxious, yet with a hint of ferocity. She pressed down on the woman’s neck, breathing into her.
Xu Qingshui’s touch was heavier than before, a fact Fu Jinghua felt clearly. She couldn’t say why the Alpha seemed like a different person after the shower, but she had no intention of thinking too deeply. Her right to breathe was being usurped, which made her rise with discomfort and disgust.
She bit the Alpha’s tongue. Seeing Xu Qingshui’s cold eyes, she suddenly remembered something. Her eyes reddened instantly, and she murmured an accusation: “You’re so mean.”
Fu Jinghua had struggled in the entertainment industry for a long time and had seen many types of people. She guessed that this was exactly what Xu Qingshui couldn’t stand.
Sure enough, almost as soon as she spoke, the grip on her neck loosened significantly. Xu Qingshui’s voice came from above.
“Sorry.”
Fu Jinghua’s expression relaxed, her entire being presenting a harmless, vulnerable state, like a cat exposing its belly.
But in the next second, an indescribable sensation flooded her. The scent of brandy filled the entire room. Xu Qingshui’s voice whispered in her ear: “So, I’m going to have to ask you to endure it a bit longer.”
Only then did Fu Jinghua belatedly remember that night. The woman had been just like this—ignoring her cries and refusing to let go.
Xu Qingshui was never a soft-hearted prey; she and Fu Jinghua were essentially the same. They were both hunters of predators. And hunters never have soft hearts.
Fu Jinghua’s neck was pinned down once again. The Brandy pheromones wrapped around her tightly. She couldn’t bear it and grabbed the Alpha’s hair, but eventually, her strength failed and her hands slumped down.
Xu Qingshui looked at the woman—charming eyes, a cold aura, and so beautiful it made her heart beat faster. But she knew: this was just the pheromones. Just as Fu Jinghua only needed her for the pheromones.
There was no fundamental difference. Their relationship would never be changed by any single event.
She bit down on the woman’s neck again, without a trace of mercy.
