After Becoming a Scumbag Alpha, the Green Tea Omega is Reborn - Chapter 29
“Run, Sis!”
Tao Yu endured the pain and lunged forward, but Aubrey landed a punch on her stomach, leaving her too pained to crawl back up.
Aubrey laughed sinisterly, walking toward them step by step. Tao Ran watched her warily, quietly tightening her grip on the wine glass behind her back.
“Don’t touch my sister…”
Tao Yu grabbed Aubrey’s pant leg. Aubrey kicked her away and shot a mocking smile at Tao Ran.
“Stop struggling. You really think anyone is coming to save you?”
Tao Ran raised an eyebrow. “And you really think you have victory in your grasp?”
In the next second, Tao Ran raised the goblet and splashed all the red wine inside directly into Aubrey’s face.
“Fuck!” Aubrey cursed as she was drenched from head to toe.
The private room door was kicked open with a bang.
Yu Li walked in, cracking her knuckles. Before Aubrey could react while wiping the wine away, Yu Li landed a punch squarely on her face.
Aubrey was knocked to the floor, her waist slamming against a chair back so hard she saw stars. Immediately after, Yu Li landed several kicks on her, leaving her clutching her stomach and crying out in pain.
“Yu Li, are you okay?” Tao Ran asked.
“I’m fine.” Yu Li raised her hand to pull Tao Ran behind her.
“You… how could you…” Aubrey clutched her face and waist, shouting through grit teeth, “Your gland took a heavy blow, how can you be unharmed?”
Yu Li tilted her neck and peeled off the anti-strike protective film stuck to her nape. “Unluckily for you, Shi Yi’s strength is too weak, and that club missed the mark by a few inches.”
Yu Li turned to look at Tao Ran. Tao Ran pulled out her phone and waved it at Aubrey.
“Everything you just said has been recorded. We also placed a miniature camera in room 2610 beforehand.”
“You guys…” Aubrey’s face turned deathly pale. “You knew all along…”
“I knew with your personality you wouldn’t let things go. Ever since escaping ‘The Night,’ I’ve been keeping tabs on you. But you’re quite stupid—did you really think that by using Tao Yu and bribing the restaurant server for a few ten thousand yuan to turn off the monitors, you could do whatever you wanted?” Yu Li looked at her with composed ease.
Aubrey grit her teeth and took several sharp breaths, wishing her eyes could carve holes into Yu Li.
Yu Li took a step forward, looking down at her. “Someone informed me of your movements from the start. From the moment you and Shi Yi stepped into this restaurant, I knew exactly what you intended to do. Aubrey, you lost. Tao Ran is my bottom line; you shouldn’t have touched her.”
“Dammit, I’ll kill you!”
The moment Aubrey lunged, several Alphas in suits poured into the room, pinning her down with multiple hands.
Lin Lin followed them in, asking anxiously, “Sister Ran, Sister Yu, are you okay?”
“We’re fine. This person has done nothing but evil; call the police.” Yu Li gently pressed her hand to her nape. The protective film was too thin; it still hurt slightly from the blow, making her frown.
“What about Shi Yi? What did you do to Shi Yi?” Aubrey shouted.
“Don’t worry, I won’t beat up a defenseless Omega. For the sake of our ‘friendship,’ I’ll personally see to it that you and Shi Yi are sent away. Satisfied?”
Even with her shoulders pinned by several Alphas, Aubrey struggled restlessly, glaring ferociously at Yu Li. Yu Li met her gaze without a hint of fear.
After the two were taken away, Tao Yu was immediately sent to the hospital. Fortunately, Aubrey had only given her a common laxative; she felt much better after the doctor gave her some oral medication.
Yu Li also had a doctor look at her gland. The doctor said it was just a bruise—not serious—and would heal with some topical ointment.
Tao Yu, looking pale, remained silent the whole way. She now sat pitiably stealing glances at the two, her voice as faint as a mosquito.
“Sister-in-law, Sis… I’m sorry.”
Neither of them said anything. Tao Yu continued, “I did suspect they were scammers, but they had Sister-in-law’s phone number, so I thought… I thought they really were your friends.”
“So you believed their bullshit?” Tao Ran pointed at Tao Yu and spoke sharply. “If we hadn’t prepared beforehand today, what do you think the outcome would be right now?”
Tao Yu lowered her head in silence. Tao Ran looked at her coldly and said, “We knew those two were no good. We didn’t tell you beforehand because we wanted to see if you had any discernment. Now we have our answer.”
“Tao Yu, you really disappointed me.”
“I’m sorry, Sis. I just wanted to make some money; I wanted you to see my ability, I…” Tao Yu began to sob under her breath.
Yu Li looked at Tao Yu’s face, so similar to Tao Ran’s, and sighed. “Stop crying. Luckily, you still have a chance to make amends.” Yu Li looked at Tao Ran, stroking her back. “Think on the bright side. Not only are we unharmed, but we also got rid of two nuisances.”
“I…” Tao Yu pouted. “I know I was wrong. I won’t dare do it again. In the future, if anyone tries to claim they’re a friend or relative, I’ll play dumb and tell you everything.”
“I see she’s fine. Let’s send her back to school early,” Tao Ran said to Yu Li.
On the way back to school, Tao Yu didn’t say a word. When she got out of the car, she apologized solemnly once more.
“The entertainment industry is so terrifying. You’re a star, Sis, with such high status, yet you were almost harmed. If it’s that dangerous, then you were right—I shouldn’t join.”
Yu Li patted her shoulder. “Then don’t think too much. Focus on studying for now. Once your college entrance exam scores are out, I’ll help you.”
Tao Yu nodded. She hesitated for a long time before saying, “I almost made a huge mistake today because of money… so, I’ve decided. I won’t be blinded by money anymore. The money you gave me, I’ll pay it all back.”
“What money?” Tao Ran looked at Yu Li in confusion.
“What I promised you is yours. Go on in,” Yu Li said, pulling the door open and nudging Tao Yu out.
“What were you two talking about just now?” Tao Ran asked, tugging at Yu Li persistently.
“I promised Tao Yu I’d give her fifty yuan if her grades improved.”
Actually, it was fifty yuan per point, but she didn’t dare tell Tao Ran that.
Tao Ran frowned suspiciously. “That girl has such a big appetite; fifty yuan could make her that happy?”
Yu Li nodded with feigned certainty. “A Chinese person doesn’t lie to a fellow Chinese person.”
“If you won’t tell the truth, see how I punish you.”
Tao Ran let out a huff, reached out her fair fingers to lift Yu Li’s shirt, and began tickling her stomach.
“Ah, stop it! It tickles!” Yu Li laughed and tried to dodge, but was pinned to the seat by Tao Ran.
“Don’t move,” Tao Ran sat on her lap, cupping Yu Li’s neck with both hands. She said softly, “Turn your head; let me see if you were hurt anywhere.”
“Hmm?” Yu Li instinctively covered her nape. “It’s fine, I’m not hurt.”
“Let me see.” Tao Ran pouted, her watery eyes blinking. With a little force, she pulled Yu Li’s hand away.
Yu Li always had zero resistance to her acting spoiled. She allowed her to gently turn her head to inspect the gland area.
Yu Li’s skin was quite fair. As the car turned, a ray of sunlight leaking through the clouds fell directly on the injury. The previously smooth, delicate skin was red and swollen, with a faint blood scab.
Tao Ran’s eyes turned red at the sight. she couldn’t help but touch it gently. Yu Li hissed in pain.
“It hurts that much… how could the doctor say it wasn’t serious? Should we go back and have Dr. Liang look at it?”
“Dr. Liang told me that although my gland is fragile, its self-healing ability is strong. Besides, Aubrey didn’t hit the spot exactly. The doctor at the hospital saw it too; it shouldn’t be a big deal.” Yu Li smiled gently, pressing down Tao Ran’s fingers.
The dappled sunlight floated lazily in Yu Li’s eyes. Tao Ran cupped her face and looked at her for a while, then suddenly lowered her head and planted a soft kiss on her gland.
Just like the scene they filmed for the wrap-up—a kiss as light as a feather on the grass under the fireworks.
“Thank you. Having a sister who holds me back like this makes me very angry sometimes. Thank you for not giving up on her and giving her a chance to change.”
Yu Li smiled and pinched Tao Ran’s earlobe. “Didn’t you say it yourself? She’s family. We should help her more.”
Tao Ran didn’t know what she was feeling. The Alpha before her was her wife; she seemed weak and submissive, easily pinned down, yet also strong and brave, never showing mercy to villains.
To outsiders, she showed her claws. To Tao Ran, she never acted like a typical Alpha.
“Ranran,” Yu Li’s voice was a bit husky. She held Tao Ran and whispered, “You aren’t allowed to seduce me here.”
“Why not?” Tao Ran stared at her directly, like a newborn kitten that hadn’t been weaned, her claws scratching at Yu Li’s heart. “What are you afraid of? There’s no one else here.”
Lin Lin, driving seriously in the front seat: “???” Am I not a person?
“You little brat, get off my lap,” Yu Li said, patting Tao Ran’s waist.
Tao Ran hummed and sat back in her seat, but she wouldn’t stay still, insisting on leaning against Yu Li.
Lin Lin turned the steering wheel and asked, “By the way, have you guys looked at the general flow of the variety show you’re starting?”
“I have. The four CP pairs will stay at a manor in City B for activities.”
“The participants are four Alphas and four Omegas from the industry. There’s even a familiar face,” Tao Ran said, giving Yu Li’s hand a squeeze. Yu Li squeezed back.
“A familiar face? Who?” Lin Lin asked.
“Yin Shu.” Yu Li let out an almost imperceptible sigh.
Ever since the three of them performed on Actors, Please Take the Stage and caused the ratings to skyrocket, variety show producers had seemingly made a pact to invite all three of them simultaneously. Luckily, the company had some humanity; they knew Yu Li and Tao Ran were married, so unless there was a divorce or an affair, there wouldn’t be much scandal to milk. Thus, they arranged for the two to join a “Married Couple” variety show.
As for Yin Shu, she would appear on the show as “lovers” with another Alpha actor she was rumored to be dating.
After they got home, Sister Zhang asked Yu Li how they planned to get to City B in two days. Yu Li answered without thinking: “By plane.”
“Of course by plane. I mean, do you plan to take the Yu family’s private jet?”
“Pri… private jet?” Yu Li was so shocked she covered her mouth. Is that really something I can have? Is the Yu family actually that rich?
“Taking the private jet is more convenient. You won’t have fans howling behind you. But since you’re so popular right now, a little exposure is good too. Anyway, you choose.” Sister Zhang muttered privately: Not like you ever listen to me anyway.
“Then we won’t take the private jet. Buy us three first-class tickets.”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to experience the thrill of being rich, but she was worried that using the family’s private jet might require her to contact her older sister.
What should I do about the family… While Yu Li was fretting, Dr. Liang suddenly called.
“Dr. Liang, what is it?”
“Just a reminder: your rut is coming up in about three days. Tao Ran told me your gland was struck today. Although the hit was off-center, it might affect your rut.”
Normally, ruts and heats occur about once every two months, but both Tao Ran and Yu Li had unusual constitutions. Tao Ran’s heat was easily induced, while Yu Li’s rut cycle was unstable and required monthly check-ups.
“What kind of effect?” Yu Li asked nervously.
“In short, during this rut, you might be more irritable, crave an Omega’s pheromones more intensely, and be more aggressive.” Dr. Liang paused, then continued, “If you don’t take your medicine in time and can’t suppress it, you might cause harm to the Omega beside you.”
