After Being Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Scum Alpha - Chapter 29
In the early morning, Yun Qi stared blankly at the girl beside her. The Omega’s belly was perfectly flat, making it hard to believe that a tiny life was actually gestating inside.
Likely because she had been woken up by the little life in her belly last night, Lin Chen had not yet woken up, clutching the equally soundly sleeping little snowy owl in her arms. Only half of her face was visible; the other half was buried in the soft pillow. When Yun Qi rose, the obstruction for the light vanished, and the sun shone directly onto the Omega’s face, causing her to slip discontentedly further under the covers.
The little snowy owl woke up due to Lin Chen’s movement. Seeing Yun Qi by the bedside, it wanted to climb out and play. Just as it was about to flap its wings, Yun Qi glared at it. She mouthed silently, telling it to stay obediently in Lin Chen’s arms and act as a bolster until she woke up.
“I treat you so well and fed you so fat; now is the time for you to contribute.”
The little snowy owl could only huddle piteously in Lin Chen’s arms, using its black beady eyes to protest to Yun Qi—it wasn’t fat at all!
Beside the wardrobe sat the pink bear plushie; Lin Chen had gone back to fetch it last night. It was the one the Alpha had given her during her special period. The Alpha walked over, picked up the plushie, and placed it on the bed in the empty space left by her departure.
The news of Lin Chen’s pregnancy spread quickly. The next day, Yun Qi received calls from her uncle, other members of the Yun family, and even the Garcia family—Demi’s maternal home.
Yun Qi’s feelings toward the Garcia family were complex. In the scroll, she had seen Demi pleading bitterly several times, transforming from a lively, laughing girl into a puppet. The other servants at the mansion remembered Demi as gentle and virtuous, which was so different from what Yun Qi saw in the scroll.
Furthermore, she had a faint suspicion that the great fire was related to Jack’s death. The root of all the tragedy was Demi’s father—her grandfather.
If only she had the original host’s childhood memories. To this day, she hadn’t seen how the original host’s parents actually interacted. The servants’ descriptions were only superficial and couldn’t be fully trusted.
While Lin Chen was still in the bedroom catching up on sleep, Yun Qi was in the living room receiving her uncle, aunt, and cousin, Yun Ye.
This was the first time Yun Qi had met this cousin. He was only five years older than her, yet he looked much more mature. In the original host’s memory, before he married, this cousin was just like her, but after marriage, he became much steadier and stopped fooling around with her. He had even argued with the original host several times over her poor behavior.
“You’ve finally grown up,” Yun Ye remarked with a sigh as he looked at Yun Qi.
Yun Qi smiled somewhat awkwardly. This cousin of hers was looking more and more like Yun Lan after marriage.
“Your sister-in-law is still filming, so she couldn’t come today, but she asked me to bring you a gift.” He handed a beautiful small gift box to Yun Qi.
Yun Qi accepted it but didn’t open it immediately, holding it in her hand.
“Why be so formal with your cousin?” Bai Mingshu laughed and patted Yun Qi, handing the infant in her arms to Yun Lan beside her.
Yun Qi then opened the gift box. It was an exquisite brooch, perfect for an Omega to wear; it was likely meant for Lin Chen.
In the plot, this sister-in-law and Lin Chen seemed to have a good relationship. Later, because of the original host’s death, Yun Ye died at Mu Yu’s hands while seeking revenge, causing them to break apart.
Seeing that Yun Qi liked it, Bai Mingshu was even happier.
“Now that you have a second child, stop wandering around outside. Learn from your cousin.” Grand Duke Yun Lan remained stern; as soon as he saw Yun Qi, he began his lecture.
“Look at what day it is, always saying things that ruin the mood.” Bai Mingshu nudged Yun Lan, took the infant back, and placed her in Yun Qi’s arms.
“Let you learn in advance how to hold your own child.”
“When is Lin Chen coming out?” Bai Mingshu leaned in and whispered to Yun Qi, “Nuannuan is a beautiful Alpha. Let Lin Chen hold her to catch some ‘lucky spirit’.”
Grand Duke Yun Lan remained expressionless, as if he hadn’t heard a thing, while Yun Ye looked at Yun Qi with some embarrassment, clearly having heard what his mother said.
In her memory, Omegas in this world could only find out the fetus’s gender and ABO differentiation after three months, unlike on Earth. Therefore, elders often brought Alpha children to a pregnant woman’s side to give her some “good luck.”
Just like in certain places on Earth.
Yun Qi’s feelings toward the child were complicated. She was afraid her attachments in this world would grow, making it harder for her to leave when the time came. As for whether the child was an Alpha, Omega, or Beta, she didn’t care.
Lin Xi emerged at some point, looking timidly at the other people in the living room.
When it was just Yun Qi and Lin Chen, she had regained the liveliness a child should have, but before the rest of the Yun family, she reverted to the way she was when Yun Qi first met her.
“No manners at all.” The Duke looked with some annoyance at the daughter who had suddenly run out. She felt this daughter made her lose face in front of her uncle and aunt.
“She’s just a child.” Bai Mingshu held and coaxed the startled Lin Xi. Yun Lan and Yun Ye also looked at Yun Qi with disapproval. They knew Yun Qi didn’t like this daughter and wasn’t even willing to give her a surname, but they still disliked seeing this attitude.
Perhaps due to the “grandparental affection” effect, Bai Mingshu was very fond of the well-behaved Omega in her arms, sitting on the sofa with Lin Xi.
Lin Chen was still sleeping in the room, and Yun Qi didn’t want to disturb her with such a strange reason, so she handed the infant in her arms to her cousin.
“Why should I care about her child? They’re all the same anyway.”

‘The last two?’
[They both came from Bai Mingshu.]
Then the three of them began to lecture Yun Qi. Just as Yun Qi felt she might faint from the scolding, Grand Duke Yun Lan received a call. His expression changed, and he left in a hurry. Before leaving, Bai Mingshu glared at Yun Qi and stroked Lin Xi’s head, telling her to call if Yun Qi bullied her again.
After they left, Lin Xi tugged at Yun Qi’s clothes and said in a tiny voice that she wanted to go see Mama and Xiao Xue.
Because Lin Chen was sleeping in Yun Qi’s bedroom, Lin Xi still habitually sought Yun Qi’s permission before entering.
Yun Qi looked at Lin Xi and realized she had grown a bit; she looked more and more like her Mama, always staring at her with dewy eyes as if she would cry the moment she was refused.
“Let’s go together, but move quietly. If you break anything in my room, I’ll be angry,” the Duke threatened her daughter with a grimace.
‘Kids are active. If she’s a bit loud and wakes up that lazy fellow, I can use it as an excuse to punish her.’
[…] The system refused to speak.
In the bedroom, Lin Chen had already woken up, and the little snowy owl was finally liberated.
She slowly stroked her belly, still in a state of disbelief that she was pregnant again.
The scenes from when she carried Xi’er were still vivid. “Yun Qi” would always bring back all sorts of people, and the scents on her were so mixed that it often made her want to vomit. But the Xi’er in her womb needed a mother’s pheromones, so she could only endure the discomfort and scavenge for sparse pheromones in the places Yun Qi often stayed.
Jin Mo. That name suddenly appeared in her mind. Yun Qi truly liked her before, even breaking some of her own boundaries for her. The scenes in the dream also made her very angry, as if Xi’er had actually been hit.
Was that really just a dream?
And her being unreasonable last night—she didn’t know when she had become so childish, being angry because of a dream experience. Finding that the person who was so awful in the dream was sleeping so soundly after she woke up, she kept pinching the soft flesh of the Alpha’s waist, only feeling slightly better after waking her up several times.
Actually, she had done it as a child too. When she was mocked once again by a certain Alpha who was upright and polite on the surface but always bullied her in private, she learned from how her Mama pinched her mother, found the soft flesh on the young Alpha’s waist, and gave it a hard twist, making the laughing Alpha’s eyes well up with tears.
She had tried pinching other places, but the Alpha acted as if she had no sensation, mocking her that even when she was angry her strength was so small. In her rage, she learned her Mama’s move.
The tears the Alpha shed back then had actually startled her. She had tried to coax the childish person in a fluster, but it was useless. The Alpha angrily said she would never talk to her again and ran away.
Although she was worried, the way the Alpha looked while crying was truly cute—especially with tears in her eyes while still fiercely threatening her—making her want to take a photo of it, just like how her Mama was always keen on dressing her younger brother in pretty dresses for photos.
The Alpha had said “I’ll never talk to you again” many times, so she only took it as a fit of pique. A few days later, the Alpha would always come back to find her and continue “bullying” her. Who knew that statement would eventually come true…
Lost in thought, Lin Chen remembered the strange Alpha she dreamt of last night. Recalling it now, she was even more certain she had never met anyone like that. Why would she dream of her? She was even wearing a wedding dress.
And that Alpha’s reaction seemed unsurprised by her resistance; she simply said something to soothe her and left.
Why were the faces of Yun Qi and that strange Alpha blurred in the dream? Yet Nan Yue and the others’ faces were clear.
Lin Chen’s musing was interrupted by the arrival of Yun Qi and Lin Xi.
Lin Xi curiously touched her Mama’s stomach. she had already heard from the other servants that her Mama was pregnant, but those words were likely not kind ones to her.
“You came out from here as well,” Lin Chen said with a smile, stroking her daughter’s head, and then glanced at Yun Qi standing to the side.
The Alpha was clearly peeking this way, yet she maintained a facade of indifference and lack of curiosity.
“The child seems to miss their Mother. Could you please touch them?” the Omega requested of her partner.
The Alpha then put on an impatient look, placed her hand on the Omega’s belly, and stroked it with gentle movements.
‘This time, she will surely be a good mother,’ Lin Chen thought.
Author’s Note:
People really can be woken up by anger. In high school, I had a dream one night that I was eating breakfast, and she walked over, threw my noodles on the ground, and just left.
