After Being Transmigrated into a Cannon Fodder Scum Alpha - Chapter 28
Inside the bedroom, after Lin Chen sat down, the little snowy owl scurried onto her lap. It looked left and right, but couldn’t find the big white egg it had been pining for.
“It’s still in the tummy,” Lin Chen said, amused by the owl’s human-like movements.
Hearing this, the owl touched Lin Chen’s abdomen with its wing. It felt flat, not at all like there was an egg inside. Then, it pressed its small head closer to her belly; it heard it—there was a faint, tiny life inside.
Lin Chen smiled as she watched the snowy owl bouncing on her lap, not engaging the Alpha beside her.
The “Big Rabbit” was holding the little snowy owl, while carrying a “Little Rabbit” in her belly.
Yun Qi felt a bit uneasy. She didn’t quite know how to talk to Lin Chen now. Fortunately, until bedtime, the Omega didn’t initiate any conversation either.
Once Yun Qi turned off the lights and lay in bed, the Omega automatically rolled into her arms, leaning her back against her. She then took Yun Qi’s hand and placed it on her own stomach.
Yun Qi felt a surge of life force beneath her palm. Vaguely, she sensed that this vitality was similar to her own. Is this the connection between an Alpha and their child in this world?
In the darkness, her other senses became sharp. Yun Qi felt a ripple of joy from beneath the skin when her hand was guided to Lin Chen’s belly; it likely belonged to that life linked to her.
Pregnant Omegas are somewhat sensitive to the cold, so Lin Chen hadn’t taken off her fluffy rabbit pajamas. As Yun Qi held her, her skin brushed against the soft fleece, and she felt her heart being “fluffed up” as well, turning soft.
Only now did she truly snap out of her daze and realize that Lin Chen’s pregnancy was a tangible reality.
She recalled that Lin Xi had brought back a snow-white rabbit from the Ross Forest, and now Lin Chen was wearing rabbit pajamas. These two Omegas, big and small, both seemed to love rabbits.
‘They’re both just like rabbits, too.’
Lin Xi was timid at first, like a startled bunny who would be scared without her Mama. Over time, she grew bolder and more active, wanting to touch everything. Her Mama was even more similar; when she was sad or excited, her eyes would turn red and her body would tremble as if saying, ‘Come coax me.’
She was also as sharp as a rabbit; every time Yun Qi glanced her way, Lin Chen would look up and meet her eyes.
Lost in these thoughts, Yun Qi drifted off to sleep. She thought she would be restless all night, but wrapped in the scent of lilies, sleepiness eventually took over.
Lin Chen was clearly aware she was dreaming, yet she couldn’t wake up.
She was in the living room of the Ducal Mansion. Two people stood before her—Yun Qi and Jin Mo. Yun Qi’s face was blurred, but she recognized her nonetheless. Behind her stood Xi’er.
“Forget it,” the jasmine-scented Omega said insincerely, tugging at the Alpha’s sleeve.
“This is the attitude she has toward a guest I brought home? If I don’t teach her a lesson now, she’ll rebel later—just like her mother,” the Alpha said angrily.
Lin Chen noticed a puddle on the floor. A patch of Jin Mo’s clothes was wet. Behind her, Xi’er was trembling with fear. Did Xi’er accidentally knock it over?
Lin Chen didn’t know why she was dreaming this—dreaming of Yun Qi bringing back an Omega she had almost forgotten.
In the past, the Alpha truly liked that star, but since that visit to the Lin family, she hadn’t contacted Jin Mo again. Lin Chen could tell by the scent.
Seeing Lin Chen wouldn’t move aside, “Yun Qi” summoned the servants and told them to bring her usual whip. As the Alpha raised the whip, Lin Chen instinctively covered her stomach and closed her eyes.
The imagined pain didn’t come. When Lin Chen opened her eyes, she found herself in a strange room, wearing a wedding dress.
After a moment, a strange Alpha walked in. Her face was also blurred, but Lin Chen was certain it wasn’t Yun Qi. When the Alpha reached out to touch her, she pulled away in resistance. The Alpha seemed surprised; the rejected hand stopped awkwardly in mid-air before being slowly withdrawn.
“I know you’re still resistant to marriage. I promise I won’t be like her. Time will prove everything. I can wait,” the Alpha said before leaving the room.
Lin Chen looked at the departing Alpha with confusion. She was sure she had never met this person, even without seeing a face.
She then walked out. Outside, she saw familiar faces: Nan Yue, Yi Fei, Mu Huo… They were all cheering, wishing her happiness and hoping she could step out of the shadows, saying “XX” was sincere toward her.
The name “XX,” like the strange Alpha, was muffled. Even though the people were speaking, she couldn’t hear the name.
And Yi Fei… she hadn’t seen her or found any trace of her since that framing incident. Yet here Yi Fei stood, acting as if nothing had happened, smiling and blessing her as if they were still best friends.
“Why did you do it?” Lin Chen grabbed Yi Fei’s arm.
Yi Fei looked confused, but the Lin Chen who knew her well could see the woman was flustered. She must know something! The others looked puzzled; they thought Lin Chen was joking. They were such good friends; during Lin Chen’s darkest time, it was Yi Fei who stayed by her side.
Just as Lin Chen was about to press further, she woke up.
She was stepped on by a certain troublemaker.
The little snowy owl had climbed onto the bed at some point. It wanted to lie between Lin Chen and Yun Qi; it loved them both and felt that if it only stayed next to one, the other would be sad.
Alas, having such a cute face brings so much trouble, the owl thought distressfully.
But Yun Qi was holding Lin Chen so tightly it couldn’t squeeze in. Helplessly, it could only lie on top of them. To be fair, it used its tiny claws to measure the distance, trying to divide itself evenly—half on Yun Qi, half on Lin Chen.
Once settled, it felt uncomfortable. It began “treading” with its claws, hoping to flatten the area where Yun Qi and Lin Chen were hugging.
Lin Chen woke up and found herself in a staring contest with the owl. The owl guiltily hid its claws and tucked its head under its wing.
Lin Chen tried to shift to let the owl in, but Yun Qi’s hold was like an iron wall, surrounding her. The sleeping Alpha felt the Omega trying to “escape” and subconsciously tightened her embrace to prevent the prey from fleeing.
Having no choice, and seeing the owl looking piteous, she let the owl burrow into her own chest.
The owl had also seen the previous struggle; it was Yun Qi who wouldn’t let it in! It resentfully stepped on Yun Qi’s face once before scurrying into Lin Chen’s embrace.
Lin Chen couldn’t fall back asleep. She thought about that strange dream.
The familiar yet strange Yun Qi, the unknown Alpha, the weird behavior of her friends, the wedding dress, and the still-missing Yi Fei…
Regarding Yun Qi and Jin Mo, she felt she might have a “thorn” in her heart because she saw Yun Qi staring at Professor Lu Nian. That’s why she dreamt of Yun Qi being intimate with another Omega. She still remembered that night during her special period when Yun Qi didn’t return, smelling of Jin Mo’s jasmine pheromones. Even though it was faint and clearly not from physical contact, she still disliked it—as if someone had licked her property while she wasn’t looking.
As for Professor Lu Nian, she knew of her. Back when she was a lab assistant in university, she heard that her professor’s friend had taken a brilliant Omega disciple. She had graduated hearing of the woman’s achievements the whole way.
But Lin Chen simply didn’t like her. She hadn’t liked her from the first moment. Beneath that cold exterior, she sensed an ambition hidden in the shadows. She just hadn’t told anyone.
She felt she and Lu Nian were of the same kind: equally dark, equally ambitious, and equally good at masking themselves with a normal facade. In the Ross Forest, the momentary emotional flicker Lu Nian showed upon seeing the snowy owl and learning it belonged to Yun Qi made Lin Chen feel the woman would definitely try something.
And that strange Alpha… she actually dreamt of marrying someone else. Even her friends weren’t surprised and were blessing her. She couldn’t imagine falling for a stranger so quickly, nor could she imagine her friends accepting someone so easily—especially Mu Huo. He hated Alphas so much, yet he was sincerely blessing her marriage to one.
Finally, Yi Fei. In the dream, she had clearly framed Lin Chen but was still best friends with her, meaning “she” was being deceived by Yi Fei all along.
Thinking that she might have found out more if she’d slept longer, only to be woken by the troublemaker, Lin Chen felt a bit petty. She picked up the soundly sleeping owl and, despite its confused look, stroked its feathers the wrong way. Once the owl used its beak to smooth its feathers, she did it again, making all its feathers stand up backward…
Only after the owl was exhausted and gave up, staring at her piteously, did she slowly smooth its feathers back down.
There was still one person left to punish: the Yun Qi who looked at other Omegas.
Lin Chen shifted in Yun Qi’s arms, pinched a piece of flesh on her waist, and gave it a twist, successfully waking her up.
The Alpha opened her eyes dazed, looking at her Omega with confusion. Lin Chen looked back innocently. Yun Qi thought she was dreaming and went back to sleep, only for the Omega to repeat the action. After a few times, the Alpha realized the person in her arms was being mischievous.
Woken by the pain again, Yun Qi was no longer fooled by the “little devil.” She didn’t know what had made the Omega so angry, but she was sleepy and wanted to tell Lin Chen to stop.
But the girl in her arms stared at her with dewy, piteous eyes, making her lose all her resolve instantly.
Yun Qi remembered Lin Chen was pregnant. Perhaps the little life was bothering her, or the hormonal shifts were causing emotional swings. Not being able to sleep probably made her feel wronged. And seeing her partner sleeping so soundly while she suffered likely made her even angrier.
A pregnant Omega must be followed, coaxed, and never mistreated.
‘Otherwise, if she stops wanting the baby or gets so angry she miscarries, I won’t have to watch her suffer through pregnancy for the next few months, right?’ Despite being exhausted, Yun Qi offered her routine “scummy” explanation to the system.
She then placed her hand on the Omega’s belly, coaxing her until she finally fell asleep. Only then did Yun Qi drift off herself.
