After Chasing The Villain With A Clueless System - Chapter 11
Bai Luoyin stared at Song Qi, the scrutiny in her eyes making Song Qi’s scalp prickle.
She really was planning to do something bad—and Bai Luoyin would definitely disapprove of it.
“Senior Sister Bai.”
Song Qi steadied herself and sighed.
“I really do have something I need to do. Everyone has their own secrets. You shouldn’t pry too deeply.”
“Only because you’ve caused so much trouble before.”
Bai Luoyin did not want to interfere with Song Qi either, but whenever she remembered how prone Song Qi had once been to causing trouble, she worried that she might provoke some serious disaster.
This was not the Divine Sword Sect.
Even Song Tianxing might not be able to protect her here.
Song Qi’s beautiful eyes brightened, and she gave Bai Luoyin a roguish grin.
“Are you worried about me?”
“I’m worried you’ll damage the Divine Sword Sect’s reputation.”
After Bai Luoyin said that, Song Qi did not press the matter any further. Nor did she continue trying to hide anything. She simply began changing her clothes right in front of Bai Luoyin.
Seeing how open and unconcerned she was, Bai Luoyin turned her face away and did not look at her.
Why did this woman never pay attention to such things? Why did she always start changing her clothes in front of other people without the slightest hesitation?
“Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me, and nothing will happen to the Divine Sword Sect. But I have to do this.”
After Song Qi finished changing, she put on her half-mask and turned toward Bai Luoyin.
“Still, I hope Senior Sister will keep this secret for me. I’ll be back soon.”
“Song Qi!”
Bai Luoyin stopped her just as she was about to leave.
In a low voice, she said, “Be careful.”
Bai Luoyin did not say anything more.
In the end, Song Qi was still a member of her own sect. Naturally, she did not want anything to happen to her, nor did she want the Divine Sword Sect to become involved in trouble.
She had considered following Song Qi to see what she intended to do.
However, Song Qi was right.
Everyone had their own secrets, and Bai Luoyin could not control everything she did.
She could only hope that whatever Song Qi planned to do was not something that harmed the innocent or violated justice.
**
Most of the disciples at the summit of Tianshan had gathered in the central courtyard.
Very few people remained in the corridors and passageways, and security was comparatively lax. Song Qi slipped into the eastern courtyard with ease.
Only a handful of people remained inside. They were either practicing martial arts or reading, clearly uninterested in noisy gatherings.
Song Qi went directly to the Heaven Room.
Candlelight glowed within, and she could faintly smell medicine in the air.
She approached the half-open window and quietly peeked inside.
Xu Yan was applying medicine to his face. Even from the side, she could clearly see that his mouth was swollen.
Song Qi nearly burst out laughing.
She immediately thought of Ouyang Feng’s sausage-like lips. That image was simply too classic.
She picked up a small stone from beside her foot, then slowly drew the longsword in her hand.
Once she found the right moment, Song Qi flicked the pebble toward the candle on the table.
The flame went out at once, plunging the room into darkness.
Song Qi immediately sprang through the window.
“Who’s there?!”
Xu Yan shouted loudly, intending to attract the attention of the people nearby so that they would come and save him.
He had a vague feeling that this was the same person who had ambushed him yesterday.
He had never expected her to come again today!
Song Qi knew she had to finish this quickly.
Relying on her exceptional hearing and eyesight, she launched the fourth form, Laughing Through an Entire Cup of Wine, straight toward Xu Yan’s right arm.
Everything happened too suddenly.
Xu Yan had never imagined that this person would directly break into the eastern courtyard today, and he had no time to react.
A piercing pain tore through his arm.
The harsh crack of breaking bone rang out, and Xu Yan screamed. In his panic, he swung his sword at Song Qi with all his strength.
Song Qi tried to pull out her sword and block, but it was too late.
She could only raise her arm to shield herself.
The sound of fabric tearing rang out.
Song Qi sucked in a sharp breath.
After wrenching her sword free, she did not linger. She leaped out through the window and fled.
She clutched her arm as blood streamed steadily down it. The pain was so intense that she nearly cried.
Damn it!
She had not expected Xu Yan to still have enough strength to fight back.
She had been far too careless!
After leaving the eastern courtyard, Song Qi planned to circle around the rear mountain and return to her room.
However, the moment she reached the rear mountain, someone suddenly appeared behind her, covered her mouth, and dragged her away.
Anyone capable of appearing so silently, approaching her without being noticed, and covering her mouth before she could react had to be an expert!
“Mmph—mmph!”
Song Qi tried to call for help.
Who knew what kind of person had been waiting behind the scenes? Perhaps they wanted to kill her.
“It’s me.”
Those two brief words immediately made Song Qi settle down.
The smell of blood had overwhelmed the faint, cool fragrance that normally clung to Wen Wanxi, so it was no wonder Song Qi had not recognized her.
Wen Wanxi’s hand was soft and fragrant, but it carried a slight chill.
The cold in her fingers seemed to seep from her very bones, entirely different from the chill of Tianshan.
Song Qi knew this was because Wen Wanxi practiced Yellow Springs and Azure Heavens.
It was an extremely cold cultivation method that required exceptional comprehension to master. No one in the Mo family had successfully practiced it for nearly fifty years.
Mo had originally been Wen Wanxi’s surname.
She had only changed it to Wen after Wu Ye took her away.
Song Qi obediently followed Wen Wanxi behind a large tree.
Only then did Wen Wanxi release her.
“I completed the mission. Give me the sword tassel.”
Song Qi’s right arm had been cut near the upper arm.
If she had not protected herself with internal force, Xu Yan might have sliced the entire arm off.
That man was vicious.
Wen Wanxi looked breathtaking beneath the night sky.
She gazed down at Song Qi without any visible emotion, though the corners of her lips still carried a faint, subtle smile, as though she greatly approved of how cleanly and decisively Song Qi had acted.
“Why do you want my sword tassel?”
Wen Wanxi did not understand.
Song Qi had promised to return it after the Young Heroes’ Assembly, which meant she would possess it only briefly.
Moreover, the tassel had no practical use.
Why did she want it?
“Just assume it’s because I like you!”
Song Qi’s arm hurt terribly.
She had rarely been injured since childhood, not even suffering many minor cuts, much less a sword wound half an inch deep.
The pain had made her speak incoherently.
Wen Wanxi froze for a moment and abruptly fell silent.
Song Qi seemed to realize what she had just said and immediately corrected herself.
“I mean I admire you. Your martial arts are powerful, and you’re beautiful. You’re practically a role model for women like us.”
Song Qi leaned against the tree and panted heavily.
She was afraid of pain. Who could have known that being wounded would hurt this much?
Afraid that Wen Wanxi would not believe her, she quickly continued, “My admiration for you is like an endless river, flowing on and on without cease—”
Before she could finish, Wen Wanxi coldly interrupted her.
“Shut up. You’re noisy.”
Song Qi immediately closed her mouth.
Then she looked pitifully at Wen Wanxi.
“Please give me the sword tassel. I’m begging you.”
Wen Wanxi looked at Song Qi’s outstretched hand.
Then she untied the tassel from the hilt of her sword—but did not place it in Song Qi’s palm.
Holding the tassel, she stepped closer and pulled open the front of Song Qi’s robe.
Before Song Qi could struggle, Wen Wanxi slipped the tassel inside.
“Don’t get it dirty. Otherwise, I’ll kill you.”
Wen Wanxi issued the threat calmly.
Song Qi trembled again and looked down at her hand, which was stained with blood.
She really was somewhat afraid of Wen Wanxi.
If Wen Wanxi became displeased and killed her, Song Qi could enter that space-time prison ahead of schedule.
“What is your name?”
Wen Wanxi turned away, seemingly preparing to leave.
“Song Qi.”
After Song Qi answered, Wen Wanxi tossed her a white porcelain bottle.
“This is Wucheng’s exclusive wound medicine. Its scent is very faint.”
With that, Wen Wanxi tapped the tip of her foot against the ground and shot up into a tree.
Within a few breaths, she disappeared.
Her lightness skill was even more graceful and effortless than Song Qi’s Wind-Chasing Step.
Song Qi held the white porcelain bottle.
Although her arm still hurt, receiving Wucheng’s wound medicine personally from Wen Wanxi made the injury seem worthwhile.
For one thing, Song Qi greatly appreciated Wen Wanxi’s concern.
For another, Wucheng’s medicine was among the best healing medicines in the entire novel.
With it, the wound would not even leave a scar.
Song Qi looked up and saw firelight in the distance.
Someone was probably coming to investigate.
Suppressing the pain, she hurried back and did not dare remain for even another moment.
Just as she reached the door, a tremendous explosion sounded in the sky.
Then multicolored lights burst overhead with a succession of crackling sounds.
Song Qi looked up and forgot to push open the door.
One beautiful firework after another blossomed across the sky.
She was immediately captivated by the sight and even forgot the pain in her arm.
【If you keep watching, you’re going to bleed to death.】
【Bah, bah, bah! Is that any way to curse me?】
The fireworks were beautiful, but it was not as though Song Qi had never seen them before.
After watching for a while, she entered the room.
Bai Luoyin was not there.
Song Qi immediately removed her outer clothes, and the red sword tassel fell out from inside them.
She looked at her bloodstained hand, then remembered Wen Wanxi’s warning.
She instantly did not dare approach the tassel.
Song Qi went to the dressing table, where a basin of water had been prepared for washing her face the next morning.
Now she could only use it to clean her wound.
She cupped water in her palm and poured it over her arm.
The pain immediately made her suck in a sharp breath.
“Hiss! Hutu, it hurts!”
At the moment, Hutu was the only one accompanying her.
She no longer cared about dignity. When the pain struck, she simply called its name.
【I’m not the one in pain.】
Song Qi: “…Listen to yourself. Does that sound remotely humane?”
Song Qi glanced at the wound on her arm.
The bleeding had stopped, but the blood had congealed over and around the cut, making it look horrifying.
After rinsing it several times, she soaked a cloth and carefully cleaned away the remaining blood.
Whenever the cloth touched the wound, tears sprang from her eyes from the pain.
Song Qi felt both angry and wronged and nearly started cursing.
By the time she had cleaned the wound, the basin of water meant for washing her face had turned completely red.
She sat on the bed and opened the white porcelain bottle Wen Wanxi had given her.
Tilting it slightly, she saw a transparent, viscous liquid flow from the opening, carrying a faint floral fragrance.
Song Qi caught some in her hand and spread it over the wound.
Perhaps she had grown accustomed to the pain.
Although applying the medicine still stung, Song Qi no longer called out to Hutu.
Doing so would only make her angrier.
Unexpectedly, while she was still applying the medicine, Bai Luoyin returned.
The moment the door opened, both Song Qi and Bai Luoyin froze.
In the end, Song Qi let out a few dry laughs and spoke first.
“Y-you came back so early?”
“How were you injured?”
Bai Luoyin looked surprised at first, but quickly concealed her reaction.
After closing the door, she walked toward Song Qi.
“It’s nothing. I was just careless.”
Song Qi turned away, unwilling to let Bai Luoyin see the wound.
This was a habit of hers.
When she was young, her parents had not cared about her. Sometimes, when she was injured, they would even scold her and call her a troublesome child.
Later, whenever she was hurt, she simply hid away and treated the wound herself.
She did not like others seeing her injuries.
Bai Luoyin’s gaze fell on the white porcelain bottle in Song Qi’s hand.
Its scent was unusual.
It smelled less like medicine and more like a scented balm used by young women.
But Bai Luoyin knew that it was Wucheng’s healing medicine.
At that moment, a considerable commotion arose outside, as though something serious had happened.
Their thoughts were abruptly interrupted, and both women turned toward the door.
“Little Sister, Junior Sister Bai, something seems to have happened at the Taixu Sect. They’re gathering everyone in the central courtyard.”
It was Song Tianxing’s voice.
Bai Luoyin answered that they would come, but Song Qi’s expression darkened.
Damn it.
Were they already gathering everyone to hunt down the culprit?
She had not even finished applying the medicine!
