After I Became A Divine Beast In An Immortal Sect [Transmigration into a Book] - Chapter 6
On the way to Hanyun Peak, Instructor Liang gave Cheng Suxi a brief introduction to Luo Ying.
Luo Ying was one of Hanyun Peak’s elite disciples and had reached the middle stage of the Nascent Soul realm. He had originally been a popular candidate in the current Peak Master selection, but unfortunately missed it after being afflicted by fire poison.
Instructor Liang had also suspected that someone might have deliberately plotted against him. However, fire spiders were Earth-grade demonic beasts and were exceedingly rare, making them difficult to encounter under normal circumstances.
Furthermore, Luo Ying had not told anyone the route of his training expedition, so the possibility of someone deliberately harming him was rather low.
“His timing was simply unfortunate, and fate has treated him harshly…”
Instructor Liang evidently thought highly of Luo Ying and sighed repeatedly over his misfortune.
Cheng Suxi consoled him, “Who can say whether misfortune might become a blessing? As long as his Dao heart remains steadfast, this may yet become an opportunity for him.”
“I hope so…”
When they arrived outside the medical room and pushed open the door, a wave of scorching heat immediately rushed toward them.
Cheng Suxi circulated her spiritual energy to shield herself and swiftly approached the sickbed.
Luo Ying’s eyes were tightly shut. His face was swollen and dark purple, while his lips were pale and cracked. His original appearance could no longer be discerned.
Cheng Suxi did not hesitate and immediately examined his condition.
“It is indeed fire poison, and an extremely potent variety. Had you not given him Azure Cold Fruit, he would most likely have died already.”
Instructor Liang asked from beside her, “Is there any way to save him?”
“I will only know after trying.”
Cheng Suxi had someone help Luo Ying sit upright. She held one hand above the crown of his head and poured ice-attributed spiritual energy into his body from the top down.
The dark purple color on Luo Ying’s face instantly faded.
However, as soon as Cheng Suxi withdrew her spiritual energy, it rapidly returned.
Instructor Liang exclaimed in surprise, “What is happening? Why does this fire poison seem almost alive?”
Cheng Suxi had also never encountered a poison with such strong spiritual awareness.
After thinking briefly, she said, “Instructor Liang, do not be anxious. Allow me to try again.”
This time, Cheng Suxi divided her spiritual energy into several streams and poured them into Luo Ying’s body from different directions.
The fire poison, however, was extraordinarily cunning. It clung firmly to Luo Ying’s meridians and refused to let go. Afraid of harming him while attacking it, Cheng Suxi found herself unable to deal with it effectively.
A tug-of-war began spreading throughout Luo Ying’s body.
Cheng Suxi knew that unless the fire poison was removed quickly, it might cause irreversible damage to his meridians.
She had to end this swiftly.
Once she made her decision, Cheng Suxi no longer hesitated. She drew in a deep breath and awakened the Lotus Heart Iceflame buried deep within her body.
The Lotus Heart Iceflame was a Heaven-grade flame Cheng Suxi had discovered inside a thousand-year ice cavern.
It was born in the heart of a Thousand-Leaf Frost Lotus and required ten thousand years of nurturing before it could take form.
Encountering a flame of this rank was naturally an extraordinary opportunity. However, a Heaven-grade flame was not something an ordinary person could subdue.
Even though Cheng Suxi possessed an innate cold constitution, she had suffered greatly in the process.
In fact, the reason Cheng Suxi’s injuries had still not completely healed was partly related to the Lotus Heart Iceflame.
During the great war, Cheng Suxi had severely damaged her meridians by overusing the iceflame. The flame had taken advantage of her weakened state and attempted to devour its master, worsening her injuries.
To suppress it, Cheng Suxi had no choice but to use half of her spiritual energy to seal it within her dantian.
That was also why she could not casually engage in combat.
Now, to save Luo Ying, Cheng Suxi once again released the iceflame.
Although doing so carried a certain amount of risk, it remained within a range she could control.
The moment it was released, the iceflame excitedly rushed straight into Luo Ying’s body and devoured the fire poison without leaving even a trace.
A Heaven-grade flame against an Earth-grade poison—this outcome was only to be expected.
However, after consuming the fire poison, the iceflame stubbornly refused to return.
It had been confined for far too long. Now that it had finally been allowed out for some fresh air, how could it willingly return after eating only a small “snack”?
Realizing that the iceflame intended to escape, Cheng Suxi frowned. In displeasure, she transformed her spiritual energy into an enormous hand and firmly seized the icy-blue mass within her palm.
The iceflame charged left and right, but it was still unable to break free from Cheng Suxi’s control. Eventually, it gradually quieted down.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Cheng Suxi gave it a sound beating before returning it to her dantian and suppressing it once more with her spiritual energy.
When she opened her eyes again, Luo Ying’s complexion had already returned to normal.
However, his meridians had suffered many injuries from both the fire poison and the reckless iceflame. He would require a long period of recuperation.
Instructor Liang was overjoyed and repeatedly bowed to Cheng Suxi.
“Thank you, Elder Lingxi!”
Cheng Suxi stepped forward to support him.
“Instructor Liang, there is no need for such formality. Luo Ying is a disciple of the Qianyuan Sect. As an elder, I naturally have a duty to do everything possible to treat him.”
Instructor Liang replied, “There is something Elder Lingxi does not know. Yesterday, I went to Suhui Peak to seek Elder Jingming’s assistance. Yet they drove me away, claiming that ‘Elder Jingming has been working himself to exhaustion over the Peak Master selection and has not even had time to warm his seat.’”
Elder Jingming was skilled in alchemy, so it had been perfectly reasonable for Instructor Liang to seek his help first.
Cheng Suxi made no comment on Suhui Peak’s behavior. She merely said, “A Frost God Flower on Luoxue Cliff at Xianmiao Peak is about to mature. It will be beneficial for Luo Ying’s injuries. When the time comes, I will have someone deliver it here.”
Instructor Liang thanked her once again, inwardly sighing that Elder Lingxi might appear cold on the outside, but she was warmhearted and truly a good person.
Cheng Suxi remained unaware that she had just been issued a “good person card.”
Seeing that Luo Ying’s life was no longer in danger, she took her leave.
Upon returning to Xianmiao Peak, Cheng Suxi had only just stepped inside her meditation chamber when she suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.
Her struggle with the Lotus Heart Iceflame had appeared effortless, but in truth, it had exhausted all her strength and worsened her existing injuries.
Now that she had expelled a mouthful of stagnant blood, she actually felt considerably better.
After wiping the blood from the corner of her lips, Cheng Suxi circulated her spiritual energy and performed a cursory treatment on herself. Then, she untied the pouch hanging from her waist.
It was time to “feed” the little Ice Luan.
After being “incubated” for so long, the divine beast egg did not appear to have changed much aside from the patterns on its surface becoming increasingly bright.
However, when Cheng Suxi weighed it in her hand, she noticed that it had grown somewhat lighter.
She held the egg up against the light, but still could not see the little creature inside.
A trace of disappointment arose in her heart.
……
Hua Ling unexpectedly discovered that her caretaker’s spiritual energy had changed today.
If the spiritual energy from before had resembled a refreshing autumn breeze, then today’s was like a violent blizzard that nearly froze her tiny body into an icicle.
Even so, Hua Ling fought desperately to absorb it. With every mouthful, her entire body trembled, making her look as though she were engaging in some sort of illegal activity.
It was not that she enjoyed torturing herself.
Although this spiritual energy was rather painful to absorb, it was incredibly nourishing!
One mouthful was worth ten ordinary mouthfuls, and ten mouthfuls made her feel like an immortal—
Peh, peh, peh!
Hua Ling’s mind ran wildly from being frozen. She was truly suffering and enjoying herself at the same time.
……
At first, Cheng Suxi did not notice anything unusual.
However, when the patterns on the divine beast egg began flickering between bright and dim, she suddenly realized that something was wrong.
After examining it, she finally discovered that the problem lay with her spiritual energy.
Her conflict with the iceflame earlier that day had left traces of the flame’s power within her spiritual energy.
As a Heaven-grade flame, the Lotus Heart Iceflame possessed extraordinary power. Even though only a tiny trace remained, it might still be too much for the little Ice Luan to endure.
Cheng Suxi hurriedly withdrew her spiritual energy.
Guilt filled her heart. She feared the little Ice Luan might have been harmed because of her mistake, yet she did not know how to remedy it.
At that moment, however, a crack suddenly appeared on the surface of the eggshell.
The hands holding the egg abruptly froze.
Author’s Note
P.S. The shell of a divine beast egg is extremely unusual. It allows spiritual energy to enter but prevents spiritual consciousness from passing through. Therefore, Cheng Suxi cannot directly perceive the little Ice Luan’s condition.
I estimate that ending the chapter here will make someone mail me razor blades. Hahahahahahahaha…
