After Transmigrated as the Movie Star's Omega - Chapter 3
Jiang Shen ran into Shen Baibi’s manager, Meng Lu, at the elevator.
“Oh, Sister Lu, morning,” Jiang Shen greeted her with his trademark polite smile.
Meng Lu nodded. “Morning to you, too.”
Jiang Shen checked his watch. “It’s just past six. It’s so early; I wonder if those two are even up yet.”
He spoke casually, but his eyes kept darting toward the apartment. Meng Lu’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly, but she said nothing.
Jiang Shen shrugged and continued, “If they aren’t up, we’ll have to go wake them.” His smile instantly turned so bitter it practically overflowed. “Ran-ran showed signs of going into heat earlier. I reckon the two of them went at it hard again last night… The scene is bound to be intense. I’m almost afraid to look.”
Meng Lu ignored his teasing.
Seeing her refuse to take the bait, Jiang Shen decided to be blunt: “Sister Lu, how about you go wake them up?”
“Why?” Meng Lu asked.
Jiang Shen smiled. “Because you’re the senior here. How could a junior like me steal the credit from a senior?”
He had no desire to walk in on a live “Spring Palace” scene. He was a bachelor, but he didn’t enjoy being fed dog food.
Meng Lu sneered, countering his move: “This isn’t about ‘credit.’ It doesn’t matter who calls them. But they’re both men, after all. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to see certain things. You go.”
You don’t want to eat dog food, but I do? No way.
The two stood at a stalemate.
“How about… we go in together?” Jiang Shen ruffled his hair. If we die, we die together.
“Fine.” Deal.
The elevator arrived, and they walked to the door. After entering the code, the door swung open.
The house was silent.
They headed straight for the master bedroom. They paused at the door to listen, but it remained quiet. Maybe they were still asleep.
The two managers looked at each other, both seeing the same reluctance. If the pair weren’t up, it meant they’d have to personally open the door and deal with whatever unseemly sight lay beyond.
Finally, Jiang Shen gritted his teeth and turned the handle to the “forbidden door.”
As the door opened and they saw the situation inside, both managers froze. They’re already awake?
The room certainly looked like the aftermath of a fierce battle, but the atmosphere felt… off.
“Jiang Shen-ge!”
Seeing Jiang Shen, Xia Ran immediately jumped off the bed and pointed an accusing finger at Shen Baibi. “Do you know what kind of atrocious thing Shen Baibi did to me?!”
“What?” Jiang Shen sized him up. Though wrapped in a robe, the red marks on Xia Ran’s neck were glaringly obvious. “He did it without a condom? That is a bit much. It would be bad if you got pregnant.”
Xia Ran’s eyes widened in horror. Why was his trustworthy manager saying something so bizarre?
He wasn’t the only one; Shen Baibi looked equally stunned, clearly finding the statement incomprehensible.
Jiang Shen shook his head with a look of helplessness. “I know you two just got married and it’s natural for sparks to fly, but you have to be careful. You’re in the prime of your career. If you get pregnant, the impact will be huge. Do you still have the birth control pills I bought you last time? Take one in a bit.”
Xia Ran’s face turned deathly pale. “Jiang Shen-ge, what are you talking about? What marriage? What pregnancy? Are you the one dreaming, or am I?”
“Huh?” Jiang Shen looked confused.
Shen Baibi’s brow furrowed deeply. “Are you two helping a prank show mess with us?”
“What? What’s wrong with you two?” Jiang Shen asked, puzzled. “Did going into heat break your brains?”
The pair was even more dazed. “Heat?”
What was that? They understood the words, but the meaning made no sense.
Meng Lu observed their bewildered expressions and realized they weren’t faking. After a moment of silence, she asked, “Wait… did you two also transmigrate here?”
Surprise flashed across Jiang Shen’s face, followed by realization.
Xia Ran and Shen Baibi were left even more confused. “Transmigrate?”
Has Sister Lu not woken up yet either?
Jiang Shen and Meng Lu exchanged a look and nodded. Then, Jiang Shen asked, “Do you know that in this world, gender isn’t just male and female, but also Alpha, Beta, and Omega?”
They shook their heads.
Xia Ran was lost. “What are you talking about? What happened? Why did the world change overnight? And I’m with Shen Baibi… with him, with him…” He couldn’t finish. How could he say something so embarrassing?
Jiang Shen stepped forward and put a heavy hand on his shoulder. “Ran-ran, yes, you’re right. The world has changed. Because—you’ve transmigrated.”
Shen Baibi suppressed his irritation and stared at the managers. “Explain exactly what is going on. Word for word.”
Meng Lu sighed. “We aren’t entirely sure ourselves, but I’ll give you the gist of it.”
The bedroom was no place for a meeting, so the four moved to the living room.
Meng Lu looked at the two men sitting stiffly on the sofa. She pointed to Jiang Shen. “Jiang Shen and I also transmigrated here from the ordinary world—the one without ABO.”
“ABO?” Xia Ran blinked. Wasn’t that the setting he had just read about?
“Yes.” Jiang Shen nodded. “Remember that ABO fanfiction you were reading on the night of the Starlight Gala? It sounds unbelievable, but I think that’s the truth. This world we’ve transmigrated into is the world described in that novel.”
Xia Ran felt dizzy. “How can such a thing happen…”
“My condolences,” Jiang Shen patted his shoulder.
After the dizziness passed, Xia Ran looked melancholy. “The ABO setting… I haven’t fully grasped it yet. It’s all because that fanfic was so ridiculous I didn’t even finish it.”
Shen Baibi gave him a strange look, as if to say: You actually read fanfiction about us?
Xia Ran snorted. “I read it to see you groveling at my feet, okay? In there, you were my total ‘simp’—you wouldn’t dare go west if I told you to go east.”
Shen Baibi shook his head. “That is pretty ridiculous.”
Meng Lu cleared her throat to remind them of the situation. They straightened up. She continued, “Jiang Shen and I arrived a week ago. We’ve been looking for a way back this whole time, but…” She spread her hands. “We have no clues. For now, we have to settle in and make a plan.”
“So you mean—” Xia Ran looked at Jiang Shen for confirmation. “We can’t go back?”
Jiang Shen patted his shoulder. “Don’t be so absolute. It’s just temporary! Temporary!” A temporary of unknown duration.
Xia Ran put his head in his hands. “Oh my god!”
Meng Lu went on: “Since you can’t go back for now, you must continue living as your current selves. It’s necessary for you to understand this world. It’s basically the same as our old world, with one major difference: the three sub-genders—Alpha, Beta, and Omega. Betas are the majority, about 80% of the population. Alphas are next at 12%, and Omegas are the rarest.”
Shen Baibi nodded to show he understood, then asked, “What am I?”
“Baibi, you are an Alpha,” Meng Lu said. Then she looked at Xia Ran. “And Xia Ran, you are an Omega. By the way, Jiang Shen and I are both Betas.”
“Omega…” Xia Ran recalled his shallow knowledge of ABO. He covered his mouth in terror. “That’s the one with the heat cycles… the one where even men get… pregnant? NO!”
Xia Ran’s inner world was collapsing.
Shen Baibi silently scooted a bit further away from him and asked his manager, “What are the traits of an Alpha?”
“Strong. Can get people pregnant,” Jiang Shen answered.
Though a bit dissatisfied with the phrasing, Shen Baibi felt a wave of relief.
“Why?!” Xia Ran pointed at Shen Baibi, shouting indignantly. “Why are you the Alpha and I’m the Omega? I was beneath you in the fanfic, and now I’m beneath you here too?!”
“Because the public’s eyes are sharp; they know who is strong and who is weak,” Shen Baibi replied quite smugly.
Xia Ran rolled up his sleeves to charge at him but was held back by Jiang Shen. “Ran-ran, calm down. Be good, we’re talking business!”
Watching them pull at each other, Shen Baibi felt a strange prickle of annoyance. He didn’t know where it came from.
“Does it bother you?” Meng Lu asked suddenly and softly.
Shen Baibi jumped, frowned, and denied it. “No.”
Meng Lu scoffed. “How could it not? Because—”
Everyone fell silent.
“You two are married. You are a legal couple,” Meng Lu smiled, though there was a hint of bitterness in it—the helplessness of a manager losing control of the situation. “And, you’ve permanently marked Xia Ran.”
Xia Ran felt like he was actually going to faint. Permanent marking?!
He didn’t know exactly what that was, but judging by Sister Lu’s face, it definitely wasn’t anything good!
“What is a permanent mark?” Shen Baibi asked.
“Simply put, it means Xia Ran belongs only to you for the rest of his life,” Meng Lu answered. “Because of the mark, you will both be hyper-aware of each other.”
Shen Baibi’s face changed instantly.
Xia Ran grabbed Jiang Shen’s arm, asking piteously, “Jiang Shen-ge, why didn’t you stop it? You just watched me walk into a fire pit?”
“I wanted to stop it, but how could I?” Jiang Shen’s voice was weary. “When two ‘love-brains’ collide, is that something an ordinary person can stop?”
“Why would I fall for him? Am I blind or is there water in my brain?” Xia Ran questioned his life choices.
Shen Baibi rolled his eyes. “I should be the one saying that.”
“Right, right! You’re not just blind, your brain is a swimming pool!” Xia Ran snapped back.
Before Shen Baibi could lose his temper, Meng Lu placed a hand on his shoulder and continued calmly, “It’s because your pheromones are a perfect match.”
“What are pheromones?” Shen Baibi asked.
Meng Lu thought for a moment. “It’s like… a chemical signal. Alphas and Omegas release them to attract each other.”
Xia Ran concluded firmly: “So Shen Baibi seduced me!”
Shen Baibi pretended not to hear and nodded. “So, in reality, there’s no love between us at all. We only bonded because of pheromones.”
“Hmm?” The other three paused. That actually made sense.
Shen Baibi continued, “Since it was impossible between us to begin with, and even with this setting it’s still impossible, this marriage is a mistake. Therefore…”
Xia Ran already knew what he was going to say, so he shouted it out first: “Divorce! Divorce!”
Having been cut off, Shen Baibi gave him a disgruntled look before turning back to his manager with a sincere tone. “Sister Lu, I want a divorce. Please arrange it.”
Meng Lu’s answer was decisive, absolute, and rang clearly in their ears:
“No!”
