After Transmigrating as the Scumbag Alpha in an Otherworld Novel, I Ended Up with the Villain - Chapter 25
Su Xinge endured the searing pain radiating from her body, cracking a joke through gritted teeth. “Well, that’s it. My first kiss is officially gone.”
Lin Yuxuan snapped in a fluster, “What nonsense are you talking about?”
To have the mood to joke at a time like this… and who would believe this scoundrel’s lies anyway?
Su Xinge managed a forced smile. “Isn’t this how it’s played in the movies?”
Zhang Tian was frantically dodging attacks and hadn’t noticed Su Xinge’s injury. Hearing the two of them, he barked in frustration, “Dammit! What time do you think it is for you two to be playing romantic games?”
It was as if the world of the two women had been severed from their surroundings. Su Xinge turned a deaf ear to Zhang Tian’s words, forcing herself up with her upper body. However, the pain brought on by the muscle strain swallowed her like a giant wave; she collapsed once more into the softness beneath her. Her head tilted slightly, brushing past Lin Yuxuan’s earlobe before sinking into her thick, dark hair.
“What are you…” Lin Yuxuan felt a flash of heat by her ear, followed by the weight on her body increasing further.
What kind of stunt is this person pulling now?
“Let me catch my breath for a second,” Su Xinge murmured, buried in the softness as if it were the best painkiller in the world.
At that moment, the long-range attacks stopped. Xiang Tiange tried to retreat, but four more figures emerged from the shadows of the road. “Not good,” she said. “We’re surrounded.”
With the lake to their right, two armed attackers charged from the left and the rear, while the hidden snipers remained ahead. Xiang Tiange and Wang Qingyue held their bows but had no time to aim and fire; the situation plummeted into a dire state.
“Dammit, I hate these cowards who sneak up behind people the most!” Zhang Tian raised his heavy blade, blocking the strike from the two behind him.
Su Xinge had rolled behind the large stone statue on the far right, thinking she was safe. But hearing the warning and the approaching footsteps on the left, a chill ran down her spine. A strong sense of crisis surged. Ignoring the pain signals from her body, she pushed herself up and brandished her blade to meet the two attackers on the left.
Su Xinge fought entirely on instinct, using her Awakened strength to force the two back step by step. Beside her, Lin Yuxuan took every opportunity to strike at the gaps in their defense.
“Take them alive! We’ll use them as shields!” Su Xinge gritted her teeth against the pain, forcing herself to analyze every possibility as thoroughly as she could.
Xiang Tiange and Wang Qingyue retreated behind the stone statue. They chose not to aim at the four attackers currently engaged in melee; the groups were too tangled, making long-range support risky. One stray arrow could hit an ally. Instead, they kept a sharp lookout for other potential reinforcements or the hidden snipers in the dark.
Zhang Tian, meanwhile, grew more ferocious as the fight went on. Single-handedly, he forced his two opponents back toward the edge of the lake. He had been bottling up his resentment from Xiang Tiange’s earlier jabs, and combined with his fury toward the ambushers, his fighting style became increasingly savage. Although it was two-on-one—and one of his opponents was an Awakened with impressive strength—the enemy found it impossible to withstand Zhang Tian’s suicidal momentum.
The surface of the lake began to churn. The sound of water mixing with the sounds of combat created a stirring melody for the battle. Zhang Tian leaned aside to dodge a vertical slash from the enemy Awakened, then delivered a powerful kick to the other attacker’s lower abdomen.
That person was already very close to the water. Seeing the kick, they hurriedly raised their blade to parry and retreated two steps to steady themselves. Suddenly, they lost their balance. As they were about to fall into the lake, they instinctively reached out and grabbed a handful of their Awakened companion’s clothing.
Seeing this, Zhang Tian lunged forward and grabbed the attacking arm of the enemy Awakened. Su Xinge’s earlier words had reached his ears; the idea of capturing these people alive and making them suffer suited him perfectly.
Crack.
A crisp snap echoed from the arm bone.
Then came a loud splash.
The other attacker, clutching the shredded fabric of their companion’s clothes, fell into the lake. The water surged and splashed, and thin red threads began to rise, gradually spreading into a crimson stain. Bubbles hissed at the surface, then vanished. The entire lake seemed to settle back into a heavy silence.
With a side kick, Zhang Tian sent the remaining Awakened, Ma Dong, to the ground and pinned him down firmly. As soon as Ma Dong was tackled, he clamped his legs and twisted violently; in a few rotations, he and Zhang Tian had swapped positions.
Zhang Tian’s left hand shot out to choke the man’s neck while his right hand didn’t let up, forcefully snapping the already fractured arm again.
Crack, crack.
With his right arm disabled, Ma Dong used his left hand to try and pry Zhang Tian’s suffocating grip from his throat. The two were deadlocked, but as time dragged on, Ma Dong began to suffocate. Oxygen in his lungs depleted, and his strength for resistance dwindled.
“It’s… a misunderstanding… let go… I surrender…” disjointed sounds squeezed out of Ma Dong’s throat.
“Surrender my ass.” Zhang Tian didn’t loosen his grip. His right hand moved to a new position and exerted force again, disabling Ma Dong’s left arm in the same manner. Ma Dong’s vision went black. Intense pain and suffocation dragged him into an endless darkness.
On the other side, the two men fighting Su Xinge were losing ground. Catching a glimpse of Ma Dong’s miserable defeat, the urge to flee rose within them. They exchanged a look; their attacks became half-hearted, replaced by obvious defensive retreats.
Sensing their movement, Su Xinge shouted to her team, “Together! These two are trying to run!”
Hearing her, the two retreated even faster, their pace shifting from a slow crawl to a light jog. Xiang Tiange and her companion were too far back; it was too late to give chase.
Lin Yuxuan, who had been on the flank, immediately circled behind them. She said coldly, “Hmph. Let’s see where you think you’re going.”
Even though she hadn’t awakened yet, the two in front of her were clearly ordinary humans. She was confident she could last two rounds with them. Furthermore, the feeling of being aimed at—that prickling sensation on her back—had vanished. Since she wasn’t an Awakened yet, she put on a fierce facade to apply psychological pressure.
Seeing Lin Yuxuan acting like this, Su Xinge’s heart thundered with worry.
Seeing they were surrounded, the two men indeed stopped. They shouted, “Don’t hit us! Stop! We surrender!”
Su Xinge didn’t stop her movements. “Drop the weapons,” she threatened.
The two exchanged a final glance, threw their weapons aside, and raised their hands.
“Just a handful of people and they thought they could pull an ambush. They’re out of their minds,” Zhang Tian said as he dragged the unconscious Ma Dong over.
Xiang Tiange and Wang Qingyue stepped forward to identify them. They lowered their bows and circled around the restrained Ma Dong several times before stopping.
“It’s them,” Xiang Tiange said. “These are the bastards.”
