After Transmigrating as the Scumbag Alpha in an Otherworld Novel, I Ended Up with the Villain - Chapter 30
“Let go.” Lin Yuxuan’s voice was slow, but she spat out every word with heavy emphasis.
Su Xinge released her grip and stepped back to create some space. “I didn’t mean anything by it; I just wanted to say thank you.”
Lin Yuxuan brushed off the spot on her clothes where Su Xinge had touched her. “No need. In the past, whenever I saw a pitiful stray cat or dog on the street, I’d give them something to eat, too.”
Su Xinge, pretending not to catch the underlying jab, said earnestly, “So, you’re still angry.”
Lin Yuxuan looked up at her and smiled. “I know exactly what kind of person you are. What is there for me to be angry about?”
That’s right, why should I be angry? Su Xinge had always been like this—the enemy she wanted to hack into a thousand pieces, the scumbag who deserved to be tossed into a horde of zombies. Now, she was simply wearing a new skin of “dissociative identity” over it all.
Su Xinge caught the flaw in her logic and countered, “We’ve only known each other for a short time. How could you know what kind of person I am?”
Lin Yuxuan looked away noncommittally, her expression disdainful. “What else? The kind of person who starts holding hands and hugging others the moment they meet. The kind who can’t walk straight the second they see a pretty Omega.”
“You’re jealous,” Su Xinge stated flatly.
Lin Yuxuan turned back, her eyes wide with amused disbelief. “Ha! Where do you get your confidence from?”
Su Xinge backed up further, leaning her weight against the edge of the bed. “Otherwise, why would you keep getting angry for no reason? Besides, we were just shaking hands. Who knew she’d suddenly lose her balance?”
“That has nothing to do with me. Anyway, I’m not jealous, and I’m not angry. Believe it or not.” With that, Lin Yuxuan turned and walked out the door.
Su Xinge didn’t chase after her. Instead, she lay sideways on the bed. She didn’t actually believe Lin Yuxuan was jealous; she just wanted to use those words to provoke the other woman and figure out why the “villainess” was always so moody.
One second she was holding Su Xinge and calling her “Baby,” and the next she was cold-faced and acting as if they were strangers.
It had been the same when they first met Xiang Tiange’s group—her expression changed in a heartbeat, leaving everyone bewildered. The original host’s actions as a scumbag Alpha were indeed enough to incur the wrath of gods and men alike, so hatred was expected. But why did the villainess act kind one moment and look at her with utter loathing the next?
Lin Yuxuan walked downstairs, the scene from the corridor replaying in her mind. If they were just shaking hands and she fell, it wasn’t impossible.
But the image of the two of them held together made her feel an inexplicable, extreme discomfort. After all, if everything was fine, why was there any need for handshaking in the first place?
Su Xinge’s body heat and powerful heartbeat still seemed to linger on her chest. Jealousy was impossible; at most, it was the annoyance one feels when the pet they picked up off the side of the road tries to run off to pick wild flowers.
As she walked, another malicious plan began to take root in her mind. Since Su Xinge loves picking flowers so much, I’ll find a way to make sure she never picks one again!
Lin Yuxuan licked her lips, a dangerous glint flickering in the depths of her eyes. There was no better revenge than this—regardless of whether the woman truly had a split personality or something else.
While Lin Yuxuan didn’t yet have the strength to deal with the consequences of destroying Su Xinge’s gland, it shouldn’t be hard to sabotage her ability to “pick flowers.” She would make it so Su Xinge could never touch a flower again, letting her stay pent-up until she became a literal human pillar, eventually rotting in a zombie pile.
Lin Yuxuan slowed her pace, her brow furrowing slightly. No, death might be a release. I want her to neither live well nor die easily. She wanted Su Xinge to be like she was during that Sensitive Period—kneeling and begging for the charity of a hug for the rest of her life.
Lin Yuxuan blinked, a faint smile blooming on her face.
Inside the small dining room on the first floor, Zhang Tian and the others were gathered around, each picking at their cans.
Zhang Tian gulped down a large mouthful and looked at Wang Qingyue with a grin. “I’m starting to think staying here isn’t so bad. At least there’s free canned meat every day.”
Xiang Tiange stopped eating and shot him a glance. “You’re dreaming. We don’t have many cans left. If we let you eat like this every day, we’d have to head out to find supplies tomorrow.”
Zhang Tian waved it off. “Nonsense. We’ll be back at the base in a few days.”
Ye Hai propped up his chin. “We definitely can’t head back today. And I don’t even know if that passage is still passable.”
Zhang Tian’s face fell. “With just us, I’m afraid we can’t fight through those things. Dealing with the zombies outside is the only part that isn’t a huge problem.”
Wang Qingyue chimed in, “Our teacher’s leg is still injured; she won’t be able to make it back to the base anytime soon. Why don’t you guys wait a bit longer?”
Ye Hai turned to her. “Roughly how long until she recovers?”
Wang Qingyue shook her head. “Hard to say. Her condition feels different from a normal leg injury. The main issue now is her extreme lethargy. I don’t know if there’s some other problem.”
Just then, Lin Yuxuan walked in and picked up the thread. “I just saw your teacher. Su Xinge just carried her into her room. I think she’s fallen asleep again.”
Xiang Tiange’s eyes widened. “Su Xinge carried our teacher?”
Lin Yuxuan nodded as she sat across from An Le. “Su Xinge said she almost fell. It shouldn’t be anything serious.”
Wang Qingyue set down her can and stood up. “I’m going up to check.”
Xiang Tiange also rose. “I’ll go with you.” The two left the room.
Zhang Tian leaned back in his chair and asked Lin Yuxuan, “What’s their teacher like? She’s an Awakened, so why does she seem so weak?”
Lin Yuxuan replied indifferently, “Hard to say. You can go up and see for yourself.”
Zhang Tian scoffed. “They didn’t invite me. I’m not going up.”
An Le asked, “How is Sister Su?”
Lin Yuxuan smiled. “She’s fine. Doing perfectly well.”
Ye Hai tapped the table with his index finger. “What if their teacher doesn’t get better? Are we supposed to stay here forever?”
Zhang Tian didn’t seem concerned. “If it comes to it, we’ll just head back first. The mission didn’t say we must bring them back to the base. When we return, the Haida faction will naturally send people to pick them up.”
Ye Hai was momentarily speechless. After a pause, he said, “Aren’t you going to consider the favor? They’ve given you so many cans.”
Zhang Tian continued eating. “We’ll talk about that later. Besides, weren’t these cans a reward for our mission today?”
Ye Hai sighed. “Are you going to stop eating tomorrow, then?”
At that moment, footsteps were heard again. Ye Hai and the others stopped talking. Seeing Xiang Tiange walk back in, Zhang Tian asked, “Back so soon? Is your teacher okay?”
Xiang Tiange walked to the bar. “I asked Su Xinge. It’s nothing serious; she just fell asleep again.”
Ye Hai looked puzzled. “It feels like she’s asleep all the time. Was she like this before?”
Xiang Tiange shook her head. “It only started recently after she got hurt. I don’t know why.”
Lin Yuxuan pondered for a moment before speaking. “It might be related to her awakened ability.” Awakened abilities had pros and cons; while they offered physical advantages over normal people, some also had drawbacks.
Xiang Tiange looked worried. “Then does that mean there’s no way to fix it?”
Lin Yuxuan shook her head. “I’m not sure. It’s possible it’s only happening because she’s injured. Didn’t you say it only started after the injury?”
Wang Qingyue sighed and offered comfort: “Let’s wait a bit longer. The wound has clearly improved; she’s just sleeping more. It shouldn’t be a huge problem.”
Xiang Tiange looked around and addressed the group: “Is everyone about done eating? Sleeping arrangements for tonight will be roughly the same as yesterday. There are two empty rooms on the second floor now—Su Xinge is in one, and I’ll take the other. It’ll be easier to look after each other if anything happens at night. Any issues?”
Ye Hai shook his head. “When you’re away from home, anywhere is the same. No problem.” The others also shook their heads.
After a moment, Zhang Tian pouted. “Even if there aren’t rooms, what’s the difference between the floor upstairs and the floor down here? Why can’t we all sleep upstairs?”
Wang Qingyue explained, “It’s the same, but if anything happens, it’s easier to take action from downstairs. Also, since Ye Hai can see in the dark, he can keep watch on the second floor.”
Ye Hai gave a wry smile. “I can’t watch the whole night. But if I wake up midway, I’ll check the situation. Besides, that lone sniper shouldn’t be stupid enough to send people over at night again.”
Xiang Tiange made the final call: “Then Ye Hai and I will sleep upstairs, and everyone else will be downstairs. As for the new arrivals, they can stay here in the dining room for now.”
Ye Hai looked at Zhang Tian. “How about your side? Did that guy confess which base the people they tricked last night were from?”
Zhang Tian shook his head. “The guy’s mouth is sealed tight. He said a lot of useless junk, but nothing important.”
Xiang Tiange sighed. “I thought the person I questioned would know something, but they really only knew the surface level. Anything deeper was a dead end.”
Wang Qingyue spoke up, “It doesn’t really matter. We just need to avenge Teacher. Who cares where those people came from?”
Ye Hai nodded. “True, but more intelligence is always better. You never know when it might come in handy.”
Xiang Tiange added, “And what about the one who got away? We can’t just let him go for nothing.”
Ye Hai advised, “Even though we’ve gotten the general location of their hideout, those guys were caught, so there’s no guarantee the other one won’t move or set an ambush. They might be waiting for us to take the bait.”
Xiang Tiange sneered. “Then we’ll see who has more patience. I’m waiting for him to take the bait.”
Ye Hai shook his head. “Unlikely, unless he finds more help.”
Lin Yuxuan glanced at Ye Hai. “And what if he actually finds more help?”
The group fell silent. Zhang Tian stood up, hands on his hips. “Let him find whoever he wants. We’re leaving soon anyway.”
Wang Qingyue said, “Let’s not overthink it. Finish up and get some rest.”
After the meal, everyone began to file out of the dining room. Xiang Tiange, walking last, stopped Lin Yuxuan. She asked with a playful grin:
“So, do you want to share a room with Su Xinge? Don’t worry, it’ll be our little secret. I promise not to tell anyone.”
Lin Yuxuan stopped and looked at her, as if seeing Xiang Tiange for the first time.
