After Transmigrating as the Scumbag Alpha in an Otherworld Novel, I Ended Up with the Villain - Chapter 8
“Thumb up for Werewolf, thumb down for Good Person. This is her identity.” Xie Ming paced around, his hand balled into a fist with his thumb pointing up.
After confirming the identity, Su Xinge closed her eyes. The night felt long; she didn’t strain to hear other movements. She was ready to drop a “Check-Kill” (accuse as a wolf) on Lin Yuxuan.
“Daybreak. Player Number 1 is out.” Xie Ming walked over to Su Xinge and flipped her number card to the black side.
…
“It is night, please close your eyes. Werewolves, please open your eyes.”
Su Xinge observed her surroundings, preparing to spot the wolves. Lin Yuxuan, naturally, had her eyes open. Suddenly, An Le, sitting next to her, turned her head and winked at Su Xinge.
Su Xinge wasn’t startled. She turned and walked out of the room to get some fresh air; the Good Camp was definitely going to lose this round. If Su Xinge had been a Werewolf, she could have put on a performance, but as the Seer, she truly had no room to maneuver.
Inside, the game continued.
“It is morning. Players Number 2 and Number 4 died last night.”
…
Su Xinge returned to the hall and poured herself a glass of water. The game was indeed over.
“Game over. The Werewolf Camp wins.”
Su Xinge walked up to An Le. “How are you so good at this? Who taught you?”
An Le smiled. “My mom used to play in professional tournaments for this game.”
Su Xinge offered sincere praise. “That’s amazing.”
Zhang Tian walked over, saying excitedly to An Le, “I bow to the grandmaster! Don’t worry, I’ll protect you out there!”
Ye Hai approached and said to Zhang Tian, “Weren’t you just talking about people dragging us down?”
Zhang Tian looked dismissive. “I respect whoever plays the game best as the boss.”
Su Xinge asked, “Weren’t you that Witch who never revealed themselves?”
Zhang Tian didn’t answer. He crouched down and patted An Le’s shoulder. “I’ve decided to be on your team. A player this skilled must be protected by me.”
An Le lowered her head in silence.
Zhang Tian turned back to Su Xinge. “How about we just swap teammates? I have someone on my side who’s quite strong and can carry things.”
Su Xinge shook her head. “No thanks.”
Ye Hai teased, “Look at you, trying to poach her people already.”
Zhang Tian stood up. “Then let’s vote for the MVP. Everyone gets one vote or can abstain.”
The group raised their hands. After Zhang Tian finished the tally, he said, “Players Number 2 and Number 3 are tied for MVP this round. Adding the points together, Player Number 1’s team has the highest score.”
Su Xinge was confused. “Does that mean I won?”
Everyone nodded.
Su Xinge: “So now I have the 1.5-vote right to decide whether we go separately or together. The rest of you have one vote each. You guys vote first.”
Ye Hai: “I’m sticking with my original choice (together).”
Liu Lindong: “Same here.”
Zhang Tian immediately raised his hand. “I vote to go together. I want to protect the pro player. Wherever the pro is, I am.”
Su Xinge: “Then my MVP status is useless. It’s 3 against 1.5, so we’re going together.”
Liu Lindong pulled out a map. “Then let’s discuss the route. Between our position and the Haida Branch is a large supermarket that eventually became a zombie tide. The surrounding roads have been tested and are dead ends. We need to extend our perimeter and circle around to see how to bypass the tide.”
Liu Lindong looked at the group and pointed to a section of the map. “I’m fairly familiar with this area, so I suggest taking this road. It used to be a commercial district; we can scavenge for supplies along the way. Below it is a subway tunnel. We can try to cut through the tunnel.”
Zhang Tian was dissatisfied. “Are you kidding? If we get trapped in a subway tunnel, there’s nowhere to run.”
Liu Lindong replied, “I’m not kidding. No one has dared to try this route yet. We can go check it out first—if it doesn’t look good, we retreat.”
Zhang Tian curled his lip. “Fine.”
Ye Hai answered, “Alright. Since you’re familiar, lead the way. We’ll take this road tomorrow.”
Su Xinge: “No objections.”
Liu Lindong folded the map. “Good. Everyone get some rest early. There are plenty of rooms here; pick whichever you like.”
The crowd dispersed. Su Xinge turned to Lin Yuxuan. “Which room do you want to sleep in?”
Lin Yuxuan gently squeezed An Le’s hand. “I want to sleep with her.”
Su Xinge nodded. “Of course. Where to? Want to go upstairs and look?”
Lin Yuxuan shook her head and pointed to a side bedroom diagonally across from the living room. “No need. This one is fine.” She looked down at An Le. “Go in and rest first. Sister will be in shortly.”
An Le nodded and left obediently.
Su Xinge spoke: “Then I’ll just sleep in the room next to yours.”
Lin Yuxuan lowered her head slightly.
Something is wrong. This is completely wrong.
Su Xinge took two steps closer to Lin Yuxuan. “Do you believe me? Just as you opened your eyes and saw I wasn’t a wolf, believe that I’m not a wolf now. The person in front of you isn’t the one in your impressions, much less the one in your memories.”
Confused, Lin Yuxuan asked, “What do you mean?”
With the others gone, the narrowed distance between them made the air feel stagnant. Lin Yuxuan hated this feeling—as if every part of her body were under the other person’s control.
Su Xinge explained, “You know, memories can be faked.”
Lin Yuxuan laughed out of pure frustration and leaned further into Su Xinge’s space. She took Su Xinge’s hand, specifically the finger with the bite mark still on it.
As their fingers interlaced, warmth met cool skin—like fire igniting water, or water swallowing flames.
Lin Yuxuan leaned into Su Xinge’s ear. “Then are these marks fake, too?”
