After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 11
Lin Qiyan turned her steps toward the restroom on this floor. Inside the white-tiled bathroom, the air held a faint scent of disinfectant.
She randomly chose a stall and stepped in. Suddenly, a bucket of water splashed down from above, catching her completely off guard. She was drenched from head to toe, looking like a drowned rat.
Lin Qiyan looked up immediately, catching only a glimpse of a blue plastic bucket being pulled back. Then came the sound of a lock clicking and the frantic patter of someone running away.
She tried to tug at the door; as expected, it was jammed tight. She let her hand drop and stood in silence for a few seconds.
In the quiet, semi-enclosed space, her breathing grew heavy. It was clear the person trapped inside was beyond furious. Having endured multiple bouts of bullying in a single day, even the best of tempers would snap. She clenched her fists in irritation.
“If you were going to splash me, you could’ve done it earlier. These are the clothes I just bought today, you bastards.”
Water dripped from her sideburns one drop at a time, as if mocking her. Fortunately, she was wearing dark denim; even soaked through, it wasn’t overly obvious. After staring at the door for a while, Lin Qiyan looked up, eyeing the top edge of the stall to calculate the odds of climbing out.
She crouched slightly and sprang upward, her eyes locked on the target while reaching out to grab the edge. Unsurprisingly, her fingertips merely scraped the top before gravity dragged her back to the floor.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She didn’t plan on fighting physics. After a moment of thought, she decided to use her voice.
“Is anyone there? A poor soul is locked in here, please save her!”
Her voice echoed through the empty space, but there was no response. She shouted for a while until her throat felt parched. Thinking quickly, she pulled out her phone and opened her WeChat contacts. Scrolling down, the list was so long it seemed bottomless.
Surprised by the original owner’s apparent popularity, she randomly tapped a contact. Scrolling up, she saw very little chat history—mostly the original owner giving orders and the other person replying “Okay.”
This looks promising, she thought, and typed out a message.
[I’m the Boss: I’m locked in the easternmost restroom on the fourth floor of the teaching building. Could you help me open the door? Thank you so much.]
A red exclamation mark appeared.
! You are not yet a friend of this contact.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She stubbornly tried another contact near the top.
! You are not yet a friend of this contact.
Several more attempts yielded the same result. She scrolled to the very top and clicked the first person on her list. The nickname was “Stinky Ghost.” The name sounded intimate—definitely someone the original owner trusted. She copied and pasted her plea.
Unexpectedly, but perhaps logically, she had been deleted there too.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
She went through the entire list. Most people had blocked her already; a few hadn’t gotten around to it yet, but as soon as she sent the message, they either blacklisted her immediately or replied with a string of insults before she blacklisted them back.
After a flurry of activity, she had nothing to show for it. Lin Qiyan was officially impressed.
The stall was small. She had been standing in one spot for too long; wet hair clung to her face, and her damp clothes stuck to her skin, feeling agonizingly uncomfortable. She kept tugging at her shirt and pants to pull them away from her body.
Time ticked by. The bell for the end of class rang outside, and the sound of laughing students approached the hallway. Two girls walked in, chatting.
“Did you see Mu Yunjing? He’s back from abroad.”
“I saw him! He’s so handsome, but he’s an ‘O’. ‘O-O’ relationships never end well.”
“Who cares? If I could get close to the Mu family, I’d be dying of happiness even for a cross-gender romance.”
“Keep dreaming. Even if he goes for an O-O romance, it has nothing to do with you.”
The girl huffed. “Can’t a girl dream?”
Lin Qiyan caught the gist and chose her moment to knock gently on the door. “Hello? Could you please help me open the door from the outside? I’m begging you.”
The two girls jumped; the sudden voice nearly made their hearts stop. Staring at the stall, they edged closer tentatively. “Are you… a person?”
Lin Qiyan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Yes, I am. Someone played a prank and I’ve been trapped here for a long time.”
The girls saw the jam on the door, exchanged a look, and pulled it open. Lin Qiyan finally saw the outside world, feeling a surge of excitement. Just as she was about to say thank you, she saw their expressions shift. They turned and bolted.
Lin Qiyan’s hand was still halfway extended when their small figures disappeared around the corner. She silently withdrew her hand, sighed, and stepped away from that place of sorrow.
Evening self-study had finished. Ran Lie was walking down the street, her two lackeys trailing a step behind carrying her bags. There were still many people on the street. Ran Lie turned into a dimly lit alley and pulled out a cigarette.
She reached out impatiently to the girl next to her for a lighter, when a hand suddenly lunged out of the darkness, grabbing her hair and yanking it down hard. Ran Lie shrieked in terror, clutching at the hand.
“Who is it?! Are you fucking crazy?! Do you know who I am?! Let go!!”
The two lackeys stood there stunned. Ran Lie glared at them, snarling, “Idiots, help me!”
One girl lunged forward, but the person behind Ran Lie raised a foot and delivered a clean, sharp kick, sending the girl flying two meters away where she lay gasping for air.
Lin Qiyan stepped out from the thick darkness. The girl still standing looked at her, incredulous. “Lin Qiyan? Why are you here? You should be…”
She stopped herself instantly. Lin Qiyan’s voice was very gentle. “Should be in the restroom?”
Ran Lie heard her voice and shrieked, “Lin Qiyan, you’re sick! If you want to go crazy, go somewhere else! What restroom? What are you babbling about?!”
The high-pitched voice made Lin Qiyan’s ears ache; she tilted her head slightly. “Whether I’m ‘babbling’ or not—don’t you know best?” As she spoke, she tightened her grip.
Ran Lie, heedless of anything but the pain, began to wail, “How should I know? Let go of me, you bitch!!”
Lin Qiyan reminded her, “Why are you screaming? People are watching, Ran Lie. You’re the Eldest Miss of the Ran family; was all your upbringing for nothing?”
“I gave you face, but you threw it away yourself.”
Ran Lie clawed at Lin Qiyan’s hand, glaring back with difficulty. “You slut, let me go! Believe it or not, I’ll make sure you regret this!” Her long, manicured nails dug deep into Lin Qiyan’s flesh.
The latter didn’t react. She reached out with her other hand and slowly wrapped it around Ran Lie’s throat, tightening it bit by bit. “Try me.”
Ran Lie hadn’t taken her seriously at first, but as the hand tightened, her breathing became labored. The fear of death began to crawl into her heart. She began to struggle violently, but she couldn’t budge an inch.
She stammered, “Lin Qiyan, what are you doing?! People are watching! Are you suicidal?”
Despite her words, the hand on her neck showed no sign of loosening; it only tightened faster. Ran Lie’s struggling grew frantic; she clawed at the hand on her throat, her pupils shrinking. Oxygen deprivation turned her face red, then her lips purple. She thrashed like a dying fish. Her bulging eyes looked toward the lackey for help, her purple lips parting slightly.
The lackey took a step back in terror.
Just as Ran Lie thought she was going to die, a gentle voice reached her ear. “Ran Lie, if you want to play, I’ll play with you—provided you’re alive to keep playing.”
The next moment, the constriction vanished. Ran Lie clutched her throat with both hands, gasping for air. The lackey hurried forward to help her but was swiped away.
Ran Lie snapped her head up. Lin Qiyan was already gone, leaving only a receding silhouette. A venomous look surfaced in Ran Lie’s bloodshot eyes.
The sky outside was now completely dark. Lin Qiyan was about to leave when she remembered she had forgotten her uniform again, which gave her a headache. But she didn’t stop.
To get to her apartment, she had to cross a night market. Standing at the street corner, the bright lights looked like a long, fiery dragon stretching into the distance. She tucked her hands into her pockets and walked forward at a steady pace.
The snack street was bustling with people, various aromas mixing together under the constant cries of vendors. Lin Qiyan looked left and right until a familiar figure caught her eye.
The girl with the thick glasses was busy working at a barbecue stall. Customers called out to her constantly. The girl didn’t even have time to wipe her sweat; she ran over frantically, asking timidly what they needed.
