After Transmigrating into a Book, I Became the Vicious Female Supporting Lead - Chapter 19
Lin Qiyan returned home as usual, made some food, and continued studying. In a corner of the internet she hadn’t seen, a post was being bumped to the top.
[Gossip: The entanglement between an Alpha you wouldn’t dare dream of and a stupid, destitute “vase.”]
[FishingForFun: Who? Who are you talking about? Is it the two I’m thinking of????]
[PaidWhiteHat: Didn’t expect to see those two names in the same sentence one day. OP, you’ve got guts to make up stories about that person.]
[NotAStar: I clicked in here shocked, only to realize it’s just clickbait.]
[PuffNotSweet: Taking my Goddess Mu away, someone please don’t disturb her.]
[FlyingBroom: What entanglement could they have? MYG wouldn’t even spare a glance at an idiot. Is the person who posted this okay in the head?]
[CantWakeUp: Don’t bother, this post is pure delusion. LQY can’t even touch the hem of MYG’s clothes. Disperse, disperse, go to sleep.]
[ImDropDeadGorgeous: OP, are you really not afraid of getting beaten up? Forget the fact that LQY is bankrupt and can’t even get near her; even at the Lin family’s peak, the Mu family wouldn’t have cared. Put it this way: do you think a giant roc notices an ant on the ground?]
[ChilledWater: Preach!]
Amidst the disbelief and insults, the OP finally appeared, tremblingly posting a message.
[StarPicker (OP): But today I saw LQY and the Mu family scion standing together, and they were actually quite close…]
[NotAStar: OP, is there something wrong with your eyes?? If those two are standing together, I’ll lick my way from Yanjing to the South Pole.]
[ChilledWater: Ruthless, but reasonable. There’s no way those two cross paths.]
[PuffNotSweet: Even if Goddess Mu is standing with her, it must be because LQY is shamelessly clinging to her!! How hateful.]
The OP didn’t dare speak again. After getting cursed out, they dejectedly deleted the post. It didn’t cause much of a ripple.
The next morning, the sun continued to shine brilliantly. Lin Qiyan walked toward school with a piece of bread in her mouth, her eyes drowsy. She hadn’t noticed how late it was while doing problems last night; it was past 2:00 AM by the time she slept.
She took the bread out of her mouth, yawned, and took a bite of the dry food. It tasted like wax. The school was the same as yesterday, except the way people looked at her had shifted from looking for a joke to looking for a show.
Lin Qiyan didn’t care. She went to her classroom and organized her things. The girl in the front row arrived late, her long sleeves almost covering the backs of her hands. She inadvertently met Lin Qiyan’s gaze and flinched away as if pricked by a needle. As the girl cautiously removed her backpack, Lin Qiyan caught a fleeting glimpse of a scrape on the back of the girl’s hand. She was slightly puzzled.
Soon the bell rang, and Wang Xiao walked in to start the first period. The Ran family matter likely wasn’t over yet, as Ran Lie didn’t show up for class today.
Lin Qiyan held her pen, propping her chin with one hand. From the very back of the room, she had a clear view of everyone’s heads. Since the students were all looking up at the board, she could see everything. It looked like a few of the boys had quite sparse hair on top.
Lin Qiyan narrowed her eyes to see more clearly and shook her head regretfully. Balding at such a young age. If they don’t take care of it, they’re destined for a prime ‘Mediterranean’ look when they grow up.
The morning classes ended quickly. At noon, Lin Qiyan grabbed a quick bite at the cafeteria and returned to the classroom, surprised to find her front-row neighbor was actually there.
The girl heard the noise and looked up cautiously. Suddenly panicked, she hugged her lunchbox, trying to shrink into herself like a reclusive hedgehog.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
There’s really no need for that.
To keep her neighbor from digging a hole and burying herself on the spot, Lin Qiyan walked back to her seat staring straight ahead, acting as if there wasn’t a soul in the room. After a while, once she was sure it was safe, the girl resumed eating, but her movements were incredibly quiet—as if a decibel too high would cause Lin Qiyan to drop dead of a heart attack.
A faint, almost imperceptible sigh came from behind. The girl froze, shrinking even smaller.
Lin Qiyan: “…”
My bad, I shouldn’t have made a sound.
School life was the same boring routine. When classes ended in the evening, Lin Qiyan shouldered her bag and went to the milk tea shop. She pushed open the glass door, and the wind chime hanging above rang crisply.
The young male owner behind the counter looked up and smiled. “You’re here.”
Lin Qiyan: “Brother Nan.”
After greeting him, she went to the back to put on her uniform. Wearing her hat, she began helping and learning next to Nan Yu. She had worked in a milk tea shop in her previous world; it started as a school requirement, but she eventually grew to love making desserts.
Seeing how quickly she learned, Nan Yu handed the front counter over to her and went to the back. A group of boys walked in, laughing and chatting. Lin Qiyan was familiarizing herself with the menu; hearing them, she put on a slight smile before even seeing them clearly. “Welcome, what would you like to order?”
The boys froze. Lin Qiyan found them familiar.
One of them spoke: “Lin Qiyan?”
Lin Qiyan: “Hmm?”
The boy’s eyes lit up. He moved to the back, nudging a chubby boy and winking. “Hey, look at that. Right place, right time.”
Seeing that familiar behavior, Lin Qiyan finally remembered. These were the ones who had made arrogant comments while she was being punished at the gate on her first day. The other two joined in the heckling.
“So you really do like her, huh?”
A boy with slightly long hair held his phone out to her, giving what he thought was a handsome smile. “Miss Lin, how about we add each other on WeChat? Keep us happy, and you’ll have as much money as you want. It’s much easier than working here.”
Lin Qiyan frowned. As the two sides were in a standoff, a very handsome boy walked up from behind. “One lemon tea.”
Lin Qiyan tapped the screen. “Certainly.”
The first group of boys wasn’t having it. “Hey, first come, first served, don’t you get it? You looking for a fight?”
The boy was paying with his head down. He didn’t even look up as he spoke: “Sorry, I didn’t see anyone standing here.”
The group didn’t catch it at first, but once one of them realized the insult, he moved forward to grab the boy’s collar. “You calling us invisible?”
The boy sidestepped. Once the payment went through, he tucked his phone away, his gaze sweeping over them coldly. “At least you’re not too stupid.”
The atmosphere was tense, sparks flying. The leader of the group, a boy named Yue Yangjia, stepped forward and laughed, trying to smooth things over. “Don’t be so hot-headed. You ordered, so you’re good. We’re not that petty.” He turned to his companions. “Back off, don’t block the way.”
One boy protested: “Brother Yue, he—”
Yue Yangjia’s smile slowly faded as he looked at him expressionlessly. The three boys turned and left indignantly. Yue Yangjia gave the handsome boy a meaningful look before leaving as well.
Nan Yu came out with the finished lemon tea. Lin Qiyan tried to take it to bag it, but the owner did it himself. He whispered, “Go to the back. I’ll handle the front for now.”
Lin Qiyan was startled but nodded. The owner handed the drink to the boy waiting and smiled. Lin Qiyan lifted the curtain and went to the kitchen. It felt a bit foreign at first, but after a few orders, she got into the rhythm. Nothing else went wrong.
The sun set, and the deep blue sky was dotted with stars. Mu Yunge stood at the classroom door. A girl ran from behind and lunged at her. Mu Yunge stumbled slightly but regained her footing, saying coldly, “Tang Ziqian, are you looking for trouble?”
The girl named Tang Ziqian giggled. “Yunge, it’s been so long, don’t you miss me?”
Mu Yunge looked at the girl with the fox-like features and a bob cut, frowning slightly. “Is ‘less than twenty hours’ a long time?”
Tang Ziqian shook her head. “Isn’t it? As the saying goes, ‘a day apart feels like three autumns.’ Converting that, an hour apart is forty-five days. We haven’t seen each other for twenty hours—that’s nine hundred days!” She added exaggeratedly, “Nine hundred days! The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl get to see each other once every 365 days; we’re much more tragic than them.”
Mu Yunge: “…”
Mu Yunge sneered: “Good math.”
She started walking. Tang Ziqian followed, her large fox-eyes turning into crescents from her smile. “Stay humble, stay humble.”
Mu Yunge ignored her. The campus was quiet as they walked out under the stars. Outside the school was a main road lined with brightly lit shops. Tang Ziqian scanned the area, her eyes lighting up when she saw something.
“Yunge, do you want milk tea?”
Mu Yunge glanced at her. “Didn’t you say you were quitting sugar?”
Tang Ziqian loved desserts—milk tea, cakes, anything sweet. She waved her hand. “Not today. My heart was wounded yesterday; it desperately needs comfort.”
With that, she pulled Mu Yunge into the milk tea shop.
Nan Yu was at the counter. Hearing the chime, he looked up and gave his habitual smile. “Welcome.”
The newcomers were two girls with peerless looks. The one in front had a slightly long bob that made her face look even more exquisite; her fox-eyes were large and spirited, slanted upward, giving her an air of high-and-mighty disdain. The one behind was even more striking—cold, elegant, and noble.
Two high-level female Alphas.
The girl with the bob tapped the counter twice. “Owner, one coconut milk tea.”
Nan Yu snapped out of it and smiled apologetically. “Of course, coming right up.” He added, “Just one?”
Tang Ziqian hummed an affirmative. Mu Yunge didn’t like these things; although she had accompanied her many times to buy them, she never drank them herself.
In the back, Lin Qiyan received the order and immediately began preparing it with practiced skill. In less than ten minutes, the simple milk tea was ready. She lifted the curtain to hand the drink to the owner.
Mu Yunge happened to look up just as a hand let the curtain fall. She withdrew her gaze disinterestedly. Once Tang Ziqian had her drink, they turned and left the shop.
The busy district was still full of traffic and neon lights. Tang Ziqian couldn’t wait to stick the straw in and take a sip, her eyes sparkling. She swallowed the tea and said, “Yunge, this is delicious!”
Mu Yunge nodded absentmindedly, wondering what reason she could use to go find Lin Qiyan tomorrow since she hadn’t seen her all day.
Tang Ziqian took another large gulp. “Usually milk tea is either too sweet or tasteless. This is just right.”
