After Transmigrating into a Book, I Saved the Cheap Shou - Chapter 5
On the way back to the classroom, Gu Jingning’s mindset had changed. He no longer wanted to stand by and do nothing. He didn’t care about the protagonist, the white moonlight, or the crematorium arc anymore. He wanted to change Su Chen’s situation. Even if Su Chen eventually still chose Pei Yuanqing, it didn’t matter. At the very least, he wanted Su Chen to stop being so insecure and have the confidence to face Pei Yuanqing, instead of enduring everything silently and compromising like in the original book.
However, he wouldn’t let anyone know he was being kind to Su Chen. If the scumbag gong found out he was helping Su Chen, he would only bully Su Chen even harder. Gu Jingning couldn’t stay by Su Chen’s side all the time, and he didn’t want Su Chen to suffer more bullying behind his back.
After quickly finishing his own lunch, Gu Jingning bought a bowl of porridge to go and placed it on the small table beside Su Chen’s bed in the infirmary, then immediately ran back to class.
Soon it was time to go home. He politely declined his classmates’ invitations and planned to secretly check on Su Chen.
When he arrived at the entrance of Su Chen’s classroom, the student in charge of locking the door was about to close it. Gu Jingning quickly called out to stop him.
With a gentle smile, he asked, “Hello, classmate. Has Su Chen already left?”
The girl, who had been eager to go home, frowned in annoyance when she was suddenly stopped. But the moment she turned around and saw that the person calling her was an extremely handsome guy, her cheeks instantly flushed red. She answered shyly, “I’m not sure… He left at noon and never came back.”
“I see… Actually, we agreed to go home together after school. May I wait for him inside the classroom?”
“Eh? But I need to lock the door…”
Seeing the girl’s troubled expression, Gu Jingning took over the responsibility of locking up. He repeatedly assured her that he wasn’t a suspicious person and even showed her his student ID to confirm his class. The girl finally left reassured. However, on her way home, she couldn’t help wondering how Su Chen knew someone like him.
Gu Jingning walked into Class 5. The empty classroom only had a lone black schoolbag sitting on Su Chen’s desk. He walked over, lowered his gaze, and gently stroked the ugly words written in marker all over the desk.
Insults about his parents, personal attacks, and even sexual slurs.
“What’s wrong with being an Omega? The people in this world are really strange,” he murmured.

When Su Chen returned, he thought the classroom door would already be locked. But when he pushed it, the door opened easily. He felt a little confused.
That afternoon, after Gu Jingning had quietly left the porridge behind, Su Chen had opened his eyes. He had wanted to rest for a while and escape the cruel classroom for a bit longer, but the fragrant porridge on the table caught his attention. In the end, his stomach, which had been hungry for a long time, won. He opened the lid and finished every last drop. The warm porridge slid down his throat and into his stomach, warming his body a little.
He lay back on the bed, intending to close his eyes and rest for just ten minutes, but he accidentally overslept.
Perhaps because he hadn’t slept so well in a long time, he woke up feeling refreshed. When he looked at the clock in the infirmary, he realized he had stayed too long and hurriedly rushed back to the classroom.
While packing his bag, Su Chen noticed a blue sticky note on his desk. The handwriting was bold and carefree:
“Classmate~ Please remember to close the door~ (^▽^)”
The silly, cute emoticon made Su Chen, who had been tormented for days, chuckle softly. He immediately guessed that the owner of the note was the boy from noon. No one in Class 5, who held such great malice toward him, would ever leave him such a kind message.
Actually, Su Chen’s campus life hadn’t been like this at the beginning. He was handsome, had excellent grades, and was humble. Who wouldn’t like him? During the first few days of school, many people would crowd around his desk, chattering away, hoping to gain the favor of the top student.
Everything changed on an ordinary day. Near the end of the school day, during break, Xu Tao suddenly came to Su Chen’s class. As a second-year student, Xu Tao’s teaching building was in a completely different area. Yet he appeared out of nowhere and even kicked open their classroom door. The students in Class 5 didn’t dare to speak out because of Xu Tao’s reputation as the school bully.
Xu Tao chewed gum with a group of lackeys behind him. They swaggered over to the boy by the window who was doing his homework and asked the question that marked the beginning of the nightmare.
“Are you Su Chen?”
