After Transmigrating into the Scum Wife of a Disabled Black Moonlight (GL) - Chapter 23
Ten minutes ago, Deng Li left Duan Tiantian and came down from the second floor of the villa.
She quickly scanned the area where the guests had been resting and found that Song Chisui was nowhere to be seen.
“Where is Xiaosui?”
Deng Li grabbed a server and asked.
“I don’t know. I think the butler took her back to rest just now.”
“Okay, thank you.”
Deng Li released his hand and looked around. At this moment, everyone was seated, clinking glasses and chatting, paying no attention to the hosts of the event.
She glanced at her watch. It was 12:10 PM. In the original book, the incident seemed to happen at exactly noon.
Deng Li quickly left the villa and headed toward the Mirror Lake.
The Mirror Lake was huge, almost surrounding the villa. She couldn’t alert anyone, so she hid behind the trees around the villa’s perimeter.
The noon sun was strong, making her feel restless and short of breath.
After finally making her way to the backyard, she saw Chunmei pushing Song Chisui to sunbathe by the lake.
Deng Li found a nearby banana tree, hid behind its massive, lush leaves, and quietly waited for the event to unfold.
What a coincidence. I’ll get to see the whole process when the villain appears.
She simply sat down and narrowed her eyes to watch closely.
The autumn wind blew, lifting Song Chisui’s hair. Her locks flew freely, creating a sense of fragility and artistic beauty from the back.
But why isn’t she moving?
Deng Li was suspicious.
Just then, Chunmei suddenly let go, leaving Song Chisui alone, and walked back while clutching her chest, her face anxious, mumbling to herself.
Looking back at Song Chisui, she appeared to be unconscious.
Chunmei is the villain?
Her heart thumped. No wonder Song Chisui killed her later. Turns out she wasn’t a good person either.
It was not easy to survive in a wealthy family. A trusted subordinate had conspired with others to harm her.
Deng Li’s heart trembled, and she looked at Song Chisui with some pity.
She guessed that Song Chisui had been drugged, then placed by the small lake, and when she woke up and activated the wheelchair, she would automatically fall into the lake because the brakes had been removed.
That way, it would look like an accidental drowning.
No wonder the murderer was never found in the original book.
So that’s how it was.
Never mind. This time, everything will be fine. I’ll just watch Song Chisui fall into the water, and Jian Qiuyu will come to the rescue like a hero.
At this moment, the system suddenly popped up.
“Host, you mustn’t mess things up this time, okay?”
“As a strategist, they are just NPCs. You cannot inject personal feelings or prevent the event from happening.”
“Otherwise, there will be serious repercussions.”
Deng Li was tired of hearing this. “I won’t mess up. I’m just sitting here watching.”
“Mhm. You are an intruder and cannot ruin the original book’s romantic fate. Remember your mission. Once you gain positive value and money, you can return to your original world, and she will live her life with the person she loves.”
She picked at her ear. “I know, I know. I promise not to interfere with the plot this time.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a gust of autumn wind blew, chilling her to the bone.
Deng Li shivered. When she looked up again, she saw a slight movement in the fragile body in front of her.
Hiding behind the banana leaves, she could clearly see Song Chisui waking up.
Her hand lightly flexed, her fingers gripping the wheelchair. Her other hand supported her head, and her brow furrowed. “It hurts.”
“It hurts,” Deng Li read from her lips.
“Why am I here?”
At that moment, she seemed to understand Song Chisui’s confusion, questions, and helplessness.
Song Chisui reached out and pressed the switch. The wheelchair slowly started moving.
First, it was flat ground, followed by a slope. The wheelchair, out of control, carried Song Chisui toward the distant clear lake.
The girl in the pure white dress was like a stone, splashing into the water with a plop, startling the surrounding egrets.
Amidst the complete stillness of the world, she didn’t even utter a single cry.
Deng Li stood up in a panic, then remembered this was not her time to intervene.
The large splash on the lake’s surface quickly subsided, becoming faint ripples.
“Why isn’t she here yet?”
Deng Li glanced at the time. The moment of impact was 12:20 and 54 seconds.
Her heart began to pound. The longer a person drowns, the lower the chance of survival.
And yet, she hadn’t seen a shadow of Jian Qiuyu.
Logically, shouldn’t Jian Qiuyu be the first one to arrive and pull her out?
Deng Li held her breath and sighed. “Teacher Jian, if you don’t come soon, your wife will be gone.”
The system immediately tried to soothe her. “Calm down, calm down. She should be here any minute. It’s only been thirty seconds. You care too much about her.”
“Of course I care. If she’s gone, I probably won’t survive either.”
Without the positive value, she probably couldn’t go back.
System: “What you said sounds reasonable to me, but others might… misunderstand you.”
Deng Li: “…”
She didn’t have the mind to say much more. Her current concern was how long the frail Song Chisui could endure.
Underwater in Mirror Lake, the sunlight refracted onto Song Chisui, but she felt as if her body was encased in ice—cold and unable to move. Something in the deep lake seemed to be pulling her down, down.
Her legs were weak, and struggling with her arms would only be counterproductive.
The wheelchair had long since separated from her due to gravity, plunging faster into the bottomless mud.
Is this where it ends?
A single question flashed through Song Chisui’s mind.
She hadn’t found the culprit who caused the car accident, hadn’t gotten revenge, hadn’t celebrated her grandfather’s 80th birthday, hadn’t eaten her sister’s 30th birthday cake, and hadn’t figured out if Deng Li was good or bad.
She didn’t want to go yet.
She held her breath tight, trying to relax and slow down, hoping she could float up.
But the icy lake water was bottomless, dragging her down, down.
Song Chisui reached upward, touching the faint halo of light refracted down. If there is light in the world, I’m no longer afraid of it stinging me or avoiding it. I’ve had enough of the darkness.
Please save me.
The refracted light slipped through her fingers. Song Chisui couldn’t hold her breath any longer; she was out of air. Her hand slowly drooped, falling down.
“I’m not waiting anymore.” Deng Li stood up, her long legs rapidly running toward the edge of the Mirror Lake. Her mind told her not to do it, but her body was already out of control and jumping down.
It’s better to rely on myself than to depend on others.
This was Deng Li’s motto.
The lake water was icy cold, instantly calming Deng Li’s heart.
After landing in the water, she finally felt grounded.
She held her breath tightly and opened her eyes. Not far below, Song Chisui’s skirt floated. Her hands and legs were as white as snow, and her ink-black hair drifted in the water, beautiful like a watercolor, resembling a blooming white camellia.
Deng Li dived down. Soon, she finally reached Song Chisui.
Reflected by the sunlight, the small face glowed, serene and indifferent. Her small mouth was slightly puffed up, letting out bubbles one after another.
She’s holding her breath!
Deng Li quickly swam over, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her close.
The slender abdomen pressed against her. Deng Li held her and was about to swim up.
Song Chisui’s waist trembled. Then, her eyes snapped open. Seeing Deng Li, she stared at her in astonishment.
Of course, it’s not right. If she saw Jian Qiuyu, she would be smiling underwater.
Deng Li was thinking when suddenly, a pair of small hands wrapped around her neck and pulled her head down.
Song Chisui’s cheek was inches away. Her eyelashes were distinct, dense, and curled, like two small fans.
The next second, Song Chisui kissed her.
Deng Li’s pupils dilated. Her breath hitched. She felt momentarily stunned, as if struck by lightning.
Song Chisui was so close. Her eyes slowly opened, her eyelashes blinked slowly, and her eyes reflected Deng Li’s astonished expression.
We can’t exchange air underwater, Xiaosui.
Deng Li was about to pull away, but the positive value in her mind increased by +500 points.
This is…
Then, Song Chisui pressed her lips hard against Deng Li’s, and her eyes pleaded with her, seeming to say:
“Give me a breath.”
The girl’s lips were soft and icy. Deng Li went along, tilting her head. She cupped Song Chisui’s chin, adjusting the kissing position, tightly sealing their lips like a flower. She gently parted her lips and opened the other’s mouth.
The lake water was blocked out by their mouths. She gently exhaled, transferring the breath from her chest.
Song Chisui greedily inhaled the air. Her mind went from fuzzy to clear. She finally saw the person in front of her: long, slender eyelashes like silver needles, a tall nose bridge, and eyes watching her with compassion.
Her lips were so hot, her breath was so hot, and her hands were so hot, as if they were going to melt her.
Gradually, she closed her eyes. When their lips finally separated, she still inevitably choked on a mouthful of water.
After Deng Li pulled her ashore, she placed her on the soft green lawn. After performing initial chest compressions, Song Chisui spat out a few mouthfuls of water.
“It’s okay. It’s okay.”
Deng Li patted her small face, rubbing it with a hint of heartache.
When Song Chisui fully awoke, her eyes examined Deng Li up and down with some surprise.
“Why are you here?”
Her voice was weak, as if she had no strength.
Deng Li let out a long breath. At least she’s alive. She lowered her head, resting her nose gently against Song Chisui’s neck, and sighed emotionally, “If you had died, I wouldn’t be able to live either.”
Song Chisui’s pupils constricted. She felt a warm breath on her neck, which was very comforting.
This is no time for sentimentality. Deng Li saw that Song Chisui’s clothes were completely soaked. The thin white princess dress clung tightly to her body, outlining beautiful curves, and her black underwear underneath was faintly visible.
She has such a good figure for her age.
Deng Li supported her slender back, feeling the positive value continuously rising, a flicker of joy in her heart.
Cough, cough.
She released her hand, took off her shirt, and covered Song Chisui with it. Then, she scooped her up in a bridal carry.
Song Chisui was already very fragile. She felt light as a feather, embraced by a warm body. Out of fear, she gripped Deng Li’s collar tightly.
She didn’t have a collar; she just tugged at her undershirt, pulling it down and revealing the trembling, snow-white skin beneath.
“Deng Li.”
It was the first time she had called her name. “Don’t let Grandpa know.”
Song Chisui was pressed against her chest, breathing lightly through her nose.
“Okay.”
After Duan Tiantian entered the room, she obediently stood by the door, following Deng Li’s instructions.
Looking inside, there was a huge, semi-transparent butterfly embroidery screen.
The butterflies were intricately drawn with gold thread, exceptionally magnificent. She couldn’t help but reach out to touch it.
After a while, the light inside the room came on. A beautiful silhouette fell onto the screen. Just looking at the shadow, one could see long, curly hair, a graceful figure, and straight, slender legs.
That must be Song Chiqiu.
Duan Tiantian composed herself and watched as she began to change her clothes.
The dress was like a falling petal, easily pulled down, whoosh, and piled up on the floor.
Song Chiqiu stood sideways, voluptuous in all the right places. Her hands were gathering her long hair and pushing it up, in a seemingly seductive manner.
Duan Tiantian quickly covered her mouth and turned her back to the screen.
Her heart pounded. Although the other party had a mental disability, she was still a woman. If she ran around like this, it would indeed be indecent. Someone needed to watch her.
I should guard the door from the outside.
As she was about to move, she was suddenly called out to.
“Big doggy.”
Duan Tiantian was confused. Was she calling her? Out of concern and responsibility for a mentally ill person, she cleared her throat. “Yes?”
“My clothes.” Song Chiqiu leaned against the screen, posing deliberately. If Deng Li was as greedy and lustful as the rumors said, she wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity.
After speaking, she slowly extended her hand, revealing half a jade-like arm, and waved it outside the screen.
Duan Tiantian gently turned her head and saw a wet garment being held out to her by a fair arm.
She gently took it. “Okay.”
She reached out to take the clothes, but the other party wouldn’t let go.
“Hee hee.”
The person behind the screen laughed. “Come in and play.”
Duan Tiantian: “??? Ah?”
She was completely bewildered and asked awkwardly, “Your clothes will be here soon.”
Out of nervousness, her voice was hoarse.
Song Chiqiu chuckled. The other person’s voice had changed due to excitement. I can definitely manage this now.
She didn’t wait and suddenly walked around the screen to the front, wrapping her arms around Duan Tiantian from behind. “Big doggy, I like you.”
Song Chiqiu wrapped her arms around her waist, rested her chin on her shoulder, and rubbed Duan Tiantian’s abdomen, feeling her firm ab lines.
Duan Tiantian’s breathing hitched. She felt a wave of heat enveloping her from behind, especially on her back, making her tremble.
“Qiu… Qiu.”
She awkwardly turned her head, only to meet a pair of seductive eyes.
Song Chiqiu had been smiling, but suddenly seeing her clearly, she was so startled that she took two steps back.
Behind her was the screen.
Song Chiqiu lost her balance and was about to fall.
Duan Tiantian quickly reached out and wrapped her arms around Song Chiqiu’s waist.
She half-pressed against her waist, her fingers touching her sensual abdomen. Within her sight was Song Chiqiu’s sexy two-piece lingerie.
Her figure is voluptuous, about to spill out.
Song Chiqiu was startled twice in succession. She gasped, looking at the person in front of her in shock. “Who are you?”
Duan Tiantian quickly helped her stand, composed herself, turned around, and put a hand over her pounding heart. “Miss, I’m sorry. I was asked to guard the door.”
For a moment, I felt like I saw a clear-headed Song Chiqiu. She didn’t seem like a mental patient.
Song Chiqiu was terrified. She quickly grabbed the shawl from the chair to cover herself. The large shawl could only cover her upper body, leaving her legs exposed.
Where is Deng Li? Why did she switch to this person?
Damn it. I almost gave myself away just now.
Song Chiqiu calmed herself down. Soon, she leaned against the screen, observing the newcomer.
The person was standing outside, head lowered, her face flushed, her big eyes fluttering.
Her height, figure, and dressing style were similar to Deng Li’s. No wonder I mistook her.
“Bunny.”
Song Chiqiu looked innocent.
Duan Tiantian looked up, surprised. “Are you calling me?”
She nodded. “Little white rabbit.”
Duan Tiantian touched her slightly frizzy hair and smiled. “Yes, I’m a rabbit. What are you?”
Song Chiqiu didn’t speak, just scanned her up and down.
Duan Tiantian quickly coughed. “Your clothes will be here soon. Stay here and don’t run around. I’ll go get your clothes.”
Seeing her nod, Duan Tiantian breathed a sigh of relief, turned, and left the room.
Coincidentally, the person delivering the clothes arrived.
Good person. Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda.
Duan Tiantian quickly took the clothes, went inside, and locked the door.
If this situation were to spread, who knows what kind of trouble it would cause.
Deng Li bypassed the main hall and carried Song Chisui up from the backyard. There was no elevator in the back. She felt the person in her arms becoming more restless and quickly sped up.
At this moment, not only could she not let her grandfather know, but she also couldn’t let the culprits know.
Of course, the most important thing was to settle Song Chisui down first and change her clothes.
The bedroom was on the second floor. Deng Li crept along, peering out. All the guests were eating and drinking on the first floor. In her peripheral vision, she saw Jian Qiuyu sitting in her seat, being forced to drink by Qingshui beside her.
…
If they had waited for Jian Qiuyu to save her, the person would be dead and cold. I don’t know what happened.
After confirming no one was around, Deng Li strode toward the bedroom.
She had only taken two steps forward, passing Song Chiqiu’s room, when, coincidentally, the door suddenly opened, and Duan Tiantian leaped out.
Deng Li: !!!
Duan Tiantian: !!!
Their eyes met. There was no time for explanation.
Deng Li’s expression twisted. “Shh!”
Duan Tiantian also felt guilty. “Shh.”
“Follow me.”
Duan Tiantian looked at them, both soaked, and nodded with flickering eyes.
In the bedroom, Deng Li placed Song Chisui on the bed. At this moment, the person in her arms was clutching her collar uncomfortably, and her body began to tremble.
“What’s wrong with her?”
Duan Tiantian followed behind them.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Deng Li touched Song Chisui’s forehead with one hand and quickly turned her head. “Tiantian, you can’t tell anyone what I’m about to say.”
Duan Tiantian’s eyes widened. “What is it?”
Deng Li: “Go downstairs and find Dr. Du Jinyue. I’m going to change her clothes now. I’ll tell you later.”
“Remember, don’t tell anyone.”
With that, Deng Li touched Song Chisui’s forehead with her palm, then touched her neck with the back of her hand. Then, her hands went to Song Chisui’s collar, about to undo the buttons.
Duan Tiantian quickly averted her eyes, agreed, turned, and left.
The soaked clothes were heavy as iron, and the buttons were hard to undo. Deng Li forcefully pulled one open, startling the soaked little kitten on the bed.
She slowly opened her eyes. A pair of glassy eyes shone beneath her small fans.
“Chunmei.”
A pair of icy hands grabbed Deng Li’s wrist, chilling her to the bone.
Deng Li held her breath, knowing what she meant. “She’s not here. I’ll change your clothes for you.”
“Ugh.”
Song Chisui seemed frightened. Her shoulders shrunk. Her whole body tensed up. Where the button had been torn open, a strip of snow-white skin was revealed. Her collarbone protruded, and the deep hollow seemed big enough to hold a fish.
“I know.”
Deng Li bent down and reached out to pull up the quilt, gently covering Song Chisui.
Song Chisui was hazy, hot all over, but shivering from the cold and fear.
She suddenly felt a warm object pressing down. She held her breath, her nose perfectly aligned with Deng Li’s chest. She blinked her eyelashes, feeling them brush against the other’s wet skin.
Thump, thump, thump. She watched her chest rise and fall with her breathing. It was also the first time she had been this close to another person, feeling the warmth of a human body.
Soon, the warmth left, and a warm goose-down quilt was placed over her.
Deng Li put her hands inside the quilt and began to undo her buttons. “I’ll help you change like this.”
The pale little face, whose lips were as white as if uncolored, had her eyelashes slightly lowered. She gave a faint “Mhm,” indicating her consent.
The sound was so weak it was almost inaudible, as if speaking would drain all her strength.
She is so fragile.
Deng Li couldn’t help but sigh.
It’s hard to imagine that such a fragile person is the strongest boss in this book. What a contrast.
Her fingers trembled slightly. Song Chisui let out another whimper. Her small face turned away, and her eyes were filled with redness.
Deng Li raised an eyebrow. If she ever remembers this, will she chop off my hand?
Who cares? Let her chop it.
Deng Li felt downward, quickly undoing her neckline and pulling the soggy dress out from under the quilt.
“Xiaosui, you need to know that this is a special circumstance. I’m doing this for you. You don’t need to be shy.”
Song Chisui’s breathing was heavy. She lifted her eyelids weakly. “I know. Hurry up.”
Alright. She sped up. Her palm slid across her back. Skin met skin, and the positive value increased by another +10.
Following the line of the clothes, Deng Li reached her shoulder. A pair of prominent scapulae felt sharp against her touch. Her fingers trembled slightly.
Deng Li choked. This was her first time helping someone change clothes. She was a bit unaccustomed, but thankfully, Song Chisui was small and relatively compliant while semi-conscious.
After the entire process, the positive value rose by another +50. She swore she didn’t do it on purpose.
At this point, Song Chisui was half-conscious, seemingly no longer caring what Deng Li was doing to her.
And what could she even do?
Soon, Du Jinyue followed Duan Tiantian into the room.
Deng Li quickly wiped Song Chisui’s body dry, moved her to a fresh spot, wrapped her hair in a drying towel, and changed the wet sheets.
As long as Song Chisui is peacefully asleep, she can solve her problems in minutes.
Now, everything was finally settled.
Du Jinyue pursed her lips. Seeing Deng Li soaked and Song Chisui having nearly drowned, she didn’t know what to ask.
She quickly checked the frail person on the bed, started an IV drip with glucose, and sighed and shook her head while tidying up her equipment.
Deng Li sat beside her, never leaving her side. Seeing Du Jinyue’s grim expression, her heart tightened. “Doctor, is she okay?”
Du Jinyue didn’t look up. “She didn’t take on too much water, but her body is weak and suffered from the cold lake water. She might be unwell for a few days.”
Deng Li heard this and gasped. Never mind Song Chisui, even if I swam in that deep lake this season, I’d catch a cold.
Thinking about it, she unconsciously sneezed.
Du Jinyue looked at her. “You should go change your clothes quickly. Don’t have one person fall ill and then another, leaving only Song Chiqiu, who can’t help with anything. If your house isn’t a mess, whose is?”
By the sound of it, the house is a mess every day.
Deng Li changed her clothes and came out. Du Jinyue was writing prescriptions.
She finished the sheet and handed it to Deng Li. “You’ll have to buy the medicine. I don’t have enough on hand.” After her instructions, she crossed her arms and examined Deng Li up and down. “Why did she fall into the lake?”
Deng Li nervously rubbed the paper napkin. “This… is a long story. I hope you can keep today’s matter a secret, Dr. Du.”
Du Jinyue shook her head with a sniff. “I don’t care about your family’s business. I treat illnesses and get paid. You take your medicine on time.”
She neatly packed her medical box. “I’m leaving.”
After seeing Du Jinyue off, Deng Li turned to Duan Tiantian.
At this moment, Duan Tiantian was full of questions for her.
But looking at the current situation, she couldn’t talk about her own matter, and she probably wouldn’t get answers about Deng Li’s either.
“Do you want me to go buy the medicine?”
Deng Li raised a hand. Duan Tiantian actually understood what she meant.
“My dear sister.”
She patted her shoulder. “Thank you for your hard work.”
In the main hall, Chunmei stood in the corner, waiting for the person to contact her.
Soon, a server walked toward her. He wore a baseball cap, held a glass of champagne, and stood in front of her. “Is everything done?”
Chunmei clutched her clothes, nodding nervously. “Where is my son?”
“The body?”
“It’s… in the lake.”
“Very good. Don’t worry, you weren’t the one who killed her. You only pushed her to the Mirror Lake to sunbathe. The rest was her own improper operation, causing her to fall into the lake.”
Chunmei’s pupils widened. “What exactly did you do?”
The man chuckled, fiddling with a brake pad in his hand.
“Don’t ask too many questions. Once the job is done, you’ll get a lot of benefits.”
Chunmei looked around. “Then, who sent you? Was it Song Shunjun, or Xia Mingyi?”
Xia Mingyi was Song Chisui’s uncle, who was eyeing her family’s property.
The man raised an eyebrow. “Song Chisui and Song Chiqiu, one is crippled, and the other is mentally disabled. Some people can’t stand it and took them in. It’s just a form of liberation for them.”
After speaking, the man lowered his baseball cap and walked toward the hidden passage behind the villa’s kitchen.
The sound of leather shoes echoed in the hallway. In a dark shadow, the man stopped. He gently knocked on the door, and the door slowly opened, with a hand reaching out.
The man handed him the brake pad, saying solemnly, “It’s all done.”
“Mhm.” The other person took the brake pad and quickly closed the door.
After the luncheon, the guests left one after another.
Since Song Chisui was incapacitated, Deng Li asked Duan Tiantian to watch her while she saw off the guests and checked if the man was still around.
In front of the main gate, Chunmei stood at the entrance, directly facing Deng Li.
Song Suiying and Song Shunjun came out one after the other. Seeing no sign of Song Chisui, Song Suiying asked, “Where are my Qiuqiu and Sui Sui?”
He asked Chunmei. Deng Li wanted to see how she would answer.
Chunmei suppressed her panic, bowed her head, and replied respectfully, “Chairman, both Misses are resting for their afternoon nap and haven’t woken up yet. Shall I go call them?”
Song Suiying nodded quietly. “No need. Let them rest well.” He tapped his cane and walked forward.
Li Ling, walking behind, smiled with a sneer. “They weren’t at the luncheon, and they’re still not here after the luncheon is over. Someone who doesn’t know might think something happened to them.”
Song Shunjun reprimanded her. “Wife, say less!”
Chunmei smiled. “Second Madam, what are you saying? Both Misses are perfectly fine.”
With her words, it sounded as if Li Ling was trying to distance herself.
Deng Li was not in the mood for a battle of wits with them. She only wanted to find that man. After looking around several times, she couldn’t find a trace of him. He had probably left a long time ago.
As soon as she finished seeing off the uncle and aunt, another tall man arrived. He was 185 cm tall, burly, wore thick glasses, and had a strong aura of severity.
“Where is my niece?”
The newcomer was Xia Mingyi. He looked around, his gaze falling on Deng Li.
Deng Li: “Xiaosui is resting.”
“Hmph.” The man scorned her, his gaze sweeping over her head, and strode away.
Deng Li held her breath, feeling that all these people were suspicious.
But she didn’t see any interaction between Chunmei and them…
Deng Li’s mind was heavy. She was out of clues for the moment.
Just then, Jian Qiuyu walked out from inside.
Deng Li looked at Jian Qiuyu as if she were looking at the fallen moon.
The refined female teacher had been forced to drink some wine. Although she was sober when she came out, her face was flushed red.
Qingshui gently supported Jian Qiuyu and came to say goodbye.
“Miss Deng, I have to go back now. Where is Chisui?”
Jian Qiuyu pushed up her glasses and looked around the villa. “Why don’t I see her?”
Seriously, she has the nerve to ask. She was the one who was supposed to save Song Chisui. Why did the plot change?
Deng Li was quite displeased. She held her breath and asked, “Xiaosui is tired and resting. Teacher Jian, did you have fun today?”
The other party didn’t seem to catch her veiled meaning and smiled. “Of course. I just didn’t see Chisui much today and wanted to say goodbye to her.”
Qingshui also nodded. “Miss Deng, I also want to say goodbye to Sui Sui.”
Before Deng Li could answer, Chunmei quickly interjected. “Miss is not available. You two should go back first.”
Her panicked tone and expression made it obvious that something was amiss.
Jian Qiuyu and Qingshui both looked over.
“That’s fine. It would be impolite to wake her up while she’s resting. See you on Monday.”
Qingshui shrugged. “Okay, please tell Sui Sui for me.”
Chunmei: “Okay.”
After sending off the guests intermittently, Deng Li looked at Chunmei.
Let’s see how she acts now.
Stared at so intensely, Chunmei quickly turned her head. “Madam, I’m going to prepare some afternoon tea for the two Misses. They can eat it when they wake up.”
She was still quite composed. Deng Li crossed her arms and looked down at her with a hint of pity.
“Butler Chunmei, how many years have you been with Xiaosui?”
“Eight years.”
“Eight years.” Deng Li tapped the floor with her toe. The sound of tapping on the marble echoed through the villa.
Chunmei trembled slightly. “Madam, why do you ask?”
She shrugged, looking casual. “Just asking. Eight years is quite a long time. You’ve worked hard.”
The reason Deng Li hadn’t questioned her yet was that it wasn’t her job. The person who should question Chunmei wasn’t her, but the one who had just drowned and was still unconscious.
After instructing security to block off the villa, Deng Li hurried upstairs.
Duan Tiantian stood at the door with the medicine. “You’re back.”
“Shh.”
Deng Li made a hand gesture. “Tiantian, are you busy?”
Duan Tiantian shook her head with wide eyes.
“That’s great. You, go help watch Song Chiqiu—the one next door. And don’t let anyone into the room.”
Duan Tiantian, who had endured an embarrassing afternoon, immediately waved her hands. “That doesn’t seem right.”
Deng Li: “What’s wrong with it? Is she going to eat you?”
Duan Tiantian looked terrified, her face pale. “Pretty much.”
Not knowing what had happened to her, Deng Li dragged and pushed Duan Tiantian back inside.
“Good friend, this matter is very serious. Please help me.”
With that, Deng Li closed the door and locked it.
Leaving Duan Tiantian to call after her: “I really have things to do!”
“What important things could you possibly have?”
“I’m very busy, Deng Li. Let me out.”
Song Chisui had a dream.
In the dream, she fell into the lake. The icy water corroded her flesh and bone marrow. Darkness pulled her body away from the surface, plunging her toward the endless abyss.
Suddenly, someone jumped into the water and swam toward her.
The person gently pulled her up, rescuing her from the lake.
She gasped for air from the lake’s surface and instantly woke up.
Ha.
Song Chisui shivered. When she woke up, her mind was hazy, and her eyelids felt heavy as lead. It took a long time to pry them open.
What she saw was a window that was completely dark outside. The room light was dim, with only a bedside lamp on. A person was lying on the floor in front of the bed, sitting on a stool, resting her head on her arms on the edge of the bed, sound asleep.
It was Deng Li.
Song Chisui remembered. It wasn’t a dream; it was real. She had truly fallen into the lake, and Deng Li had saved her.
Why would Deng Li save her?
Doesn’t she wish I were dead?
After I die, Deng Li can inherit the estate.
Song Chisui held her breath, watching Deng Li intently.
Under the faint lamplight, Deng Li’s eyes were closed. Her lean face was smooth and defined, her nose bridge was high, and her light eyebrows made her look cold and distant. With her even breathing, her lips were slightly parted, revealing half of her white teeth through her full red lips.
Her lips were full and smooth. Song Chisui subconsciously touched her own lips, recalling that fiery touch underwater.
It was just to survive. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.
Her trembling fingers curled slightly and slowly retracted under the quilt.
As her arm touched her skin, Song Chisui felt a subtle warmth and slowly woke up more fully.
She had an IV in her left hand. She used her right hand to gently push open the quilt, looked down, and her pupils instantly dilated.
My clothes…
The memory flooded back. She looked at the person in front of her. Those hands hung gently by her side. The lines of her arms were exquisite and defined. Her fingers were like jade bamboo joints, distinct and clear. The blue veins bulging on the back of her hands crisscrossed, and her palms were slightly red, radiating heat.
The scent of sandalwood drifted into her nose, bringing a strange sense of peace to her heart.
