After Unbinding the Simp System, I'm Targeted by the Villain - Chapter 45
“This…”
The two servers exchanged awkward glances. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to step aside, but the person inside was someone they truly didn’t dare offend.
Seeing the servers’ expressions, Yu Chucheng knew he had come to the right place.
Luckily, he’d had the foresight to have his private investigator keep watch. This club was filled with a bunch of useless rich second-generation heirs gathered to eat, drink, and play; the fact that they had dragged Duan Huaijin into this private box and locked the door meant they were definitely up to no good.
Seeing that the two servers were truly unwilling to budge, Yu Chucheng lowered his voice and said, “I won’t make things hard for you. In a moment, just pretend you couldn’t beat me, and I’ll break in myself.”
Inside the box, Duan Huaijin hesitated for a split second, preparing to open the door.
BAM—!
The door was kicked open. Two servers were sprawled on the ground outside; one clutched his stomach while the other held his wrist, wailing on the floor as if they had broken bones. Their acting was as flamboyant as it gets.
Yu Chucheng rushed in. He didn’t notice how many people were in the room, only seeing Duan Huaijin standing alone in the center of the space.
“Duan Huaijin!”
As Yu Chucheng approached, he caught a strong whiff of alcohol that forced him to cover his nose. He did a quick scan, noticing several red marks on Duan Huaijin’s exposed arms—looking like they’d been grabbed by hands. There were wine stains on his shirt and pants, and his collar was rumpled.
“Did you drink? Did they bully you?”
Yu Chucheng’s brow furrowed deep. When he looked toward the sofa, everyone was as quiet as cicadas in winter. Each of them was flushed red from their earlier shouting match, but in Yu Chucheng’s eyes, it looked like they were drunk. He immediately hallucinated a terrifying scene of a crowd holding wine glasses and smirking while forcibly drenching Duan Huaijin in booze.
Zhuang Yunfei, the biggest victim of the night, vaguely heard Yu Chucheng’s voice. He scrambled up from the coffee table, wanting to ask who was actually bullying whom, but only the first syllable of a word escaped his lips before a wave of violent dizziness hit him.
“Blergh… BLECH!!”
Zhuang Yunfei doubled over abruptly, beginning a new round of vomiting.
Xin Yihuan stood up when he saw Yu Chucheng. He opened his mouth helplessly, wanting to tell Yu Chucheng that he hadn’t joined the crowd, let alone participated in humiliating Duan Huaijin.
But before he could offer an explanation, he heard Duan Huaijin ask with his head lowered, “Why are you here?”
Yu Chucheng’s gaze flickered away, ten thousand excuses flashing through his mind.
He wanted to say he just happened to be playing here tonight, or that he’d taken a liking to random wandering lately. But the moment his peripheral vision caught Xin Yihuan, all his excuses turned into a finger pointing straight at the man.
“He told me to come.”
In the past, Yu Chucheng’s heart would race when he lied, but now his face didn’t flush and his heart didn’t skip a beat as he pointed at Xin Yihuan with absolute conviction. “He told me you were being bullied here and asked me to come help you.”
Xin Yihuan: “?”
Duan Huaijin shot him an unreadable glance. Everyone else cast needle-like glares at him, their eyes saying: So you’re the traitor.
Xin Yihuan: “…”
A massive “blame pot” just flew onto my head out of nowhere.
Unaware of the true situation, Yu Chucheng asked worriedly, “How much did they make you drink? Can you still walk? Should I support you?”
Duan Huaijin hid the complex emotions in his eyes and answered faintly, “It’s alright, not too much. I might just be a bit unsteady on my feet; I have a very low tolerance for alcohol.”
The crowd, who had witnessed Duan Huaijin down a full glass of high-proof spirits in one go without blinking, was speechless. Moreover, Duan Huaijin hadn’t actually drunk much; from start to finish, it was Zhuang Yunfei who had been drinking in his place.
His acting skills were far superior to those two servers at the door.
“I’ll support you then. Give me your hand.” Yu Chucheng didn’t notice anything wrong, pulling Duan Huaijin’s arm over his shoulders.
Duan Huaijin was an Alpha, after all—tall and high in muscle density. When he first shifted his weight onto Yu Chucheng, Yu Chucheng wasn’t ready and stumbled forward, nearly failing to hold him up.
“Sorry, I’m a bit heavy.” Duan Huaijin straightened up slightly, only leaning half his weight.
Yu Chucheng stiffened his neck and said stubbornly, “I just wasn’t prepared a moment ago.”
He was an adult male, after all. Even though Duan Huaijin was much taller, it would be too embarrassing if he couldn’t even support one person.
Seeing the two leaving, no one dared to stop them.
Zhuang Yunfei finally finished vomiting. He wiped his mouth haphazardly and chased after Duan Huaijin drunkenly. “You… stop right there!”
He had suffered a humiliation beyond words tonight to protect his secret; he couldn’t just let Duan Huaijin walk away so easily, even if Yu Chucheng was there.
Duan Huaijin’s hand on Yu Chucheng’s shoulder tightened slightly, inconspicuously guiding Yu Chucheng to dodge.
Zhuang Yunfei lunged at thin air, nearly falling flat on his face.
His former “lackey” friends closed their eyes, unable to watch the pathetic display. The boy who had been backstabbed by Zhuang Yunfei first couldn’t contain his spite any longer and shouted, “Serves you right!”
Yu Chucheng looked down at Zhuang Yunfei with a frown. “What else do you want?”
Zhuang Yunfei’s legs were like jelly, his calves trembling as he stood. He gave Yu Chucheng a sarcastic smile. “Duan Huaijin and I still have plenty to settle. Your Yu family is powerful, but is it worth ruining your relationship with all of us for the sake of a lapdog clinging to you?”
When Zhuang Yunfei said this, cold sweat broke out on the people on the sofa—and it broke out on Yu Chucheng too.
Lapdog? This guy actually called the villain my lapdog?! Can we not involve me in “suicidal” activities like this!
Yu Chucheng felt ten thousand “grass mud horses” stampeding through his internal landscape. “What kind of crap are you talking?”
He took a step forward but was held back by Duan Huaijin.
“There’s no need to argue with someone like him.”
“But…”
“Heh, he admitted it himself.” Zhuang Yunfei stood a short distance away, revealing something in his hand.
In his drunken confusion, he had reached out and snatched something from Duan Huaijin’s jacket pocket. It was a small bottle containing a greenish liquid—it didn’t look like anything legitimate.
The moment he saw the bottle, Duan Huaijin’s eyes went cold. “Give it back.”
Zhuang Yunfei couldn’t see clearly now; the whole room was spinning before his eyes. He only heard the tension in Duan Huaijin’s voice and realized the guy was actually nervous about this object.
He currently had a secret in Duan Huaijin’s hands—a rope around his neck that could tighten at any moment. He had nothing to threaten Duan Huaijin with, and Duan Huaijin hadn’t promised not to tell others his secret.
Zhuang Yunfei finally realized Duan Huaijin had simply played him like a fool tonight. He decided to go for a “broken pot” strategy: “You want it? No way! This is the price for humiliating me tonight!”
With that, the small bottle of pheromone extraction liquid was hurled away by Zhuang Yunfei.
CRASH!
The bottle flew and shattered at Xin Yihuan’s feet, the glass splintering into pieces.
Silence fell over the room. Yu Chucheng felt the color of that liquid looked a bit familiar. In his eyes, Zhuang Yunfei was just a bullying, rogue scoundrel; he instinctively wanted to rush over and teach him a lesson.
Duan Huaijin held him back. “It’s fine. It wasn’t anything important.”
