An Inner Life of a Cold Beauty Omega Secretary - Chapter 16
“Just because you saw it first, it’s yours? Lady, do you even hear yourself?” Ye Baiwei was nearly dying of laughter at Fang Ran’s childish logic. “Is your name written on it? Or did your family lease this entire amusement park? Do you have any evidence? ‘Seeing it’ makes it yours… well, I’ve seen all the money in the world; does that mean it all belongs to me now?”
Fang Ran was choked into silence by Ye Baiwei’s retort. After all, Ye Baiwei was stating the facts—these things aren’t “exclusive” just because you lay eyes on them. If everyone owned whatever they looked at, individual people would own the entire Earth.
But Fang Ran remained furious. This was completely different from what she had expected. Usually, every Alpha she encountered would back down the moment they saw they were dealing with an Omega. She had met so many Alphas who behaved that way; why was Ye Baiwei the only one insisting on picking a fight over such a small thing?
“But there’s another horse right there you could sit on. Why do you have to fight me for this one?”
[Bitch, bitch, bitch! Fighting me over a wooden horse, what a piece of trash!]
[Why don’t you go rob someone else? Get lost already, you bitch!]
[Calls herself an Alpha but doesn’t even know ‘Omega first.’ Bitches like you don’t deserve to be Alphas!]
Ye Baiwei’s face darkened inch by inch. She hadn’t intended to be so petty; it was just a seat on a carousel. They were both adults, and there was no need to make a scene. However, reality was teaching her that there is no “too ridiculous,” only “more ridiculous.”
“That’s an interesting way to put it. What do you mean I’m ‘fighting you’ for a seat?” Ye Baiwei looked down at her, her tone icy. “First, your family doesn’t own this place, and your name isn’t on the horse. Second, let’s get one thing straight: I came in first. You, the one who came in second, have the nerve to say that to me?”
Ye Baiwei already detested this kind of unfaithful trash. If Fang Ran had kept a low profile, she would have pretended she hadn’t seen her. But no, she had to act like a monster in public too. She really wondered what a girl like Mu Zheng saw in someone like Fang Ran.
“You…!”
“You what? Am I wrong?”
Since the two of them hadn’t sat down after several minutes and their argument was getting loud, it quickly drew a crowd of tourists, surrounding the carousel until it was water-tight.
The ticket inspector, sensing something was wrong, closed the gate and walked over.
“What’s going on with you two? Let’s talk things out calmly.”
Ye Baiwei looked at Fang Ran, crossed her arms, and smiled. “Do you want to explain it yourself, or should I?”
Seeing the growing crowd, Fang Ran felt her pride wavering. She hadn’t intended to cause such a scene with Ye Baiwei, but she hadn’t expected Ye Baiwei to play so outside the rules, landing her in such an embarrassing position.
Seeing Fang Ran’s mouth stay shut, Ye Baiwei looked at the inspector. “Since she won’t talk, I will. Before that, I’ll ask you, Inspector: I arrived a step ahead of her, correct?”
The inspector checked the verification times and nodded. “Yes. Your ticket was scanned at 15:36:57, and hers was at 15:37:03. Is there a problem?”
Ye Baiwei followed up on the inspector’s words: “Since I scanned my ticket first and entered first, that means I have priority in choosing between the two remaining horses. However, this lady doesn’t seem to understand that concept. She just told me she ‘saw’ this horse first, so I have to give it up. How do you staff members intend to handle this?”
“Huh?”
The inspector looked at Fang Ran in disbelief. She felt this was unnecessary—they were adults, any seat is a seat, and the two horses were identical. Why fight over one?
Moreover, this was the kind of thing that only happened with children, leading to their parents arguing. The inspector never imagined two adults would act this way—especially with one being so unreasonable. She felt quite speechless.
She said to Fang Ran, “Ma’am, I’m sorry, but based on the scan times, this lady was first. Therefore, she chooses her horse first.”
Fang Ran already felt she had lost enough face. Hearing the inspector say this made her face burn, but she couldn’t just let it go. If she was going to be embarrassed, she wasn’t going to be the only one.
Furthermore, Fang Ran had an intuition; she felt Ye Baiwei was looking for trouble on purpose, targeting her specifically, though she had no proof.
After a moment’s thought, Fang Ran put on a pitiful, aggrieved act. “I didn’t say I wouldn’t let her choose. She was inside for a long time and didn’t pick one. But just as I was about to sit down, she insisted she wanted this one. That’s why we started arguing.”
Ye Baiwei turned her head, completely stunned by Fang Ran’s brazen lie. She had considered many possibilities for what Fang Ran might say, but it turned out her expectations of human nature were still too high.
Hearing Fang Ran’s words, the inspector thought that was also a possibility, so she turned back to look at Ye Baiwei.
Ye Baiwei understood her dilemma. After all, there were no cameras here, and the people nearby probably hadn’t been paying attention. Asking the inspector to take a side was putting her in a tough spot.
“Fine, I underestimated you.”
Fang Ran maintained her aggrieved expression. “I… I’m just telling the truth. Am I not?”
[Trying to fight me with that level of IQ? Look at what’s inside your head, bah!]
[If you know what’s good for you, kowtow to me right now and scram.]
[Alphas really are simple-minded with well-developed muscles. You made me look bad in public; see if I don’t screw you over!]
Hearing Fang Ran’s inner thoughts, Ye Baiwei couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“You… what are you laughing at?”
“I’m laughing at you, you giant white lotus.”
Fang Ran’s teeth were grinding, but she couldn’t explode on the spot. She could only say through gritted teeth, “You Alpha, how can you be so unreasonable? You’re clearly in the wrong, yet you’re slandering someone else?”
The onlookers didn’t know exactly what had happened, but seeing Ye Baiwei, an Alpha, making things so difficult for a “frail” Omega like Fang Ran, they instinctively assumed Ye Baiwei was being a bully. Whispers began to spread.
“It’s just a carousel horse; how can an Alpha be so shameless as to fight an Omega for it? And so self-righteously too. She’s a disgrace to Alphas.”
“Exactly. But the point is, from what the Omega said, it’s entirely the Alpha’s fault. Bullying her like that is just too much.”
“She just thinks the Omega is an easy target. Aren’t most Alphas like that?”
“Watch your mouth. Can we stick to the facts? By your logic, every Alpha in the world is bad and not a single one is good?”
As they spoke, the crowd actually started arguing among themselves.
The inspector, seeing things spiraling out of control, quickly moved to call a manager.
Ye Baiwei stopped her. “No need to call anyone. This will be settled quickly. It’s a small matter; it won’t get out of hand.”
“Ma’am, you mean…?”
“She said I’m slandering her? Then I’ll just show the evidence.”
With that, Ye Baiwei pulled out her phone.
“I happen to have a habit of recording things when something happens.” Pressing the play button, Ye Baiwei held the phone toward Fang Ran.
Soon, the recording played back the argument they had just had.
The people who were just engaging in Alpha-vs-Omega tribalism suddenly shut their mouths.
The dialogue in the recording was clear: Fang Ran was the one being unreasonable first, and after the inspector came to maintain justice, she turned around and slandered Ye Baiwei.
Seeing the evidence was irrefutable, Fang Ran flew into a rage and tried to snatch Ye Baiwei’s phone.
Ye Baiwei felt speechless. Just as she was about to say something, she heard a familiar voice calling out. She looked over; it was Mu Zheng.
“Ranran!”
Hearing Mu Zheng’s voice, Fang Ran stopped her attempt to grab the phone. Her face filled with panic as she asked, “Zheng… Zhengzheng? Why are you here? Weren’t you resting back at the hotel?”
Mu Zheng walked over and realized the person Fang Ran was arguing with was Ye Baiwei. Her body stiffened slightly, but she couldn’t care about that. She walked to Fang Ran’s side and pulled her behind her back.
She had indeed gone back to the hotel to rest, but she was hungry and wanted to come down to buy something to eat. She hadn’t expected to see Ye Baiwei come down and head toward the amusement park. Mu Zheng felt uneasy. Fang Ran was also at the park; if she ran into Ye Baiwei, given Ye Baiwei’s reputation as an “old pervert,” there would surely be trouble. So, after leaving the food in the hotel room, Mu Zheng had rushed back down to find them.
To her surprise, as soon as she arrived, she saw a crowd gathered at the carousel.
At first, she thought it couldn’t be Ye Baiwei—after all, one of the things Ye Baiwei hated most was being stared at like a circus monkey. Usually, she would leave such messes for Mu Zheng to handle. But then she heard Fang Ran’s voice and decided to squeeze in to see what was happening. She truly hadn’t expected Ye Baiwei to be there.
Seeing Mu Zheng protecting Fang Ran behind her back, Ye Baiwei felt an inexplicable pang of discomfort. She even felt that the “bitch” behind her was an eyesore. She really wanted to walk over and drag her out.
However, with so many people watching, she didn’t want Mu Zheng to lose face because of what that “bitch” had done. So, putting her phone back in her pocket, she smiled at the inspector. “Alright, it’s over now. May I sit now?”
The inspector, seeing that she didn’t intend to pursue the matter further, breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to disperse the crowd and then asked Fang Ran, “Ma’am… are you still going to ride?”
Mu Zheng certainly didn’t want Fang Ran staying near Ye Baiwei. Taking Fang Ran’s hand, she said to the inspector, “No, she won’t be riding.”
