Daily Life Of A Socially Anxious Scumbag Alpha Raising Flowers - Chapter 7
Early the next morning, Wen Xin was the first to wake.
The first thing she felt after opening her eyes was an unprecedented lightness.
Beside her was a pheromone scent that made her feel happy and at ease.
Her consciousness was still not clear.
Like a cat that had just woken up, she stretched lazily, then instinctively rubbed her face against the soft thing beside her.
It was only three seconds later that Wen Xin realized exactly what she was rubbing against.
She was in Dong Xun’s arms.
Dong Xun was very thin, but the area in front of her chest was very full. Last night, through her vision blurred by heat, Wen Xin had seen that its shape was very beautiful.
The intense memories she had briefly lost surged instantly into her mind.
Wen Xin remembered everything that had happened last night.
In an instant, her whole body turned as red as a cooked shrimp.
She fled into the bathroom at lightning speed and stared blankly at herself in the mirror.
No one knew how long passed before she stiffly and tentatively looked toward the spot behind her back.
She remembered clearly.
Last night, something like a tail had grown from there.
Aaaaaah—
Wen Xin covered her face with both hands.
Mom, I’m sorry. Your daughter has also become the pig that goes after the cabbage.
As the only daughter in the family, doted on and cherished by everyone, from the beginning of her adolescence, Wen Xin’s elders had constantly instilled in her the correct view of love. In their eyes, all the men outside were extremely dangerous, and they were terrified that one careless moment would let their precious cabbage get tricked away.
But in the end, no one had expected that their family’s cabbage would be the one to do what a pig did.
Because of her illness, Wen Xin had never experienced a normal adolescence. She was like a flower grown in a greenhouse, protected far too carefully by her family.
But even though she had never dated anyone, she clearly knew that she liked the same sex.
To pass the boring time in the hospital ward, Wen Xin loved reading novels and watching movies.
The first time she saw a story about love between women in a novel, she did not feel that it was abrupt or strange at all. Instead, she could very much understand why the protagonist would fall in love with someone of the same sex, because the person the protagonist loved possessed every trait that could make one’s heart move.
Wen Xin also loved those traits, traits that almost only appeared in women.
Dong Xun was beautiful, even though she was pale and weak, with almost none of the vitality of a living person.
All of this was different from the type of woman Wen Xin liked.
She liked gentle people, preferably with a little liveliness too, someone who could understand her childishness and strange little quirks.
Of course, the most important point was that the other person had to love good food. That way, she could freely make all the beautiful desserts and dishes she wanted to make without worrying that no one would eat them and they would go to waste.
Wen Xin could not deny that she did have some fondness for Dong Xun.
She sympathized with what Dong Xun had suffered.
Although Dong Xun was sometimes far too quiet, that instead made Wen Xin feel less embarrassed.
At least, in the short time they had spent together—less than a month—Wen Xin no longer felt tormented or at a loss in this small space where there were only the two of them.
In the past, that would never have happened to her.
Wen Xin was a slow-to-warm person. Even when it came to friendship, she needed time.
But the very awkward situation now was that her identity was that of a damned scumbag who had committed domestic violence against her wife.
No one would like someone who had hurt them.
More than anyone, she could feel that deep down, Dong Xun’s attitude toward her was mostly fear and disgust.
Wen Xin sat on the toilet and lowered her head somewhat dejectedly.
The little deer of love that had just woken up in her heart had not even hopped around much before wilting and collapsing.
Wen Xin had always been someone with an extremely strong sense of responsibility. From the very beginning, after she became this world’s Wen Xin, she had already silently decided in her heart that she would take good care of Dong Xun. At the very least, after Dong Xun’s depression improved, she would respect Dong Xun’s choice and set her free—or whatever else Dong Xun wanted, Wen Xin would do her best to satisfy her requests.
Let alone now, when there was another layer of intimacy between them.
Even though in the ABO world, this was nothing more than an ordinary mark.
But Wen Xin could not get past this hurdle in her heart no matter what.
The memories from last night, enough to make her blush and her ears burn, flashed through her mind from time to time. How could she possibly act as if nothing had happened…
Especially after urgently cramming some knowledge about sensitive periods between Alphas and Omegas, Wen Xin shut off her phone with her little face bright yellow.
Even while cooking, she was absentminded.
She accidentally broke a plate.
After hearing the sound, Dong Xun walked over to check. She was wearing a thin nightdress, and on her snow-white skin exposed to the air were dark, vivid kiss marks.
“It’s okay. I’ll clean it up. Don’t come closer. You’ll get hurt.”
Wen Xin was the first to react from her daze and immediately stopped Dong Xun from bending down to pick up the shards.
Dong Xun was even more fragile than porcelain.
For no reason, Wen Xin always had this kind of thought.
But as she spoke, Dong Xun had already swiftly and neatly cleaned up the mess. Then, she said quietly, “I’ll cook. I’ve learned the things you made before.”
Dong Xun was very good at reading people. She could tell that Wen Xin’s current state was off.
Why?
Because she had marked her?
Suddenly, she thought of something Wen Xin had said before: “Every time I mark you, the smell on your body makes me feel sick…”
Probably…
It was probably because of that.
That was why she was unhappy.
Dong Xun pressed her pale lips together and lowered her eyes, not wanting to think too much about it anymore.
Wen Xin could not stop Dong Xun, so she let her help as an assistant.
The two of them worked together in the kitchen.
Dong Xun was truly very smart. Some steps did not even need Wen Xin to say them; she had already memorized them all. Wen Xin lowered her head, her mind still filled with all sorts of messy thoughts. Especially with Dong Xun right beside her, she felt even more embarrassed.
Wanting to ease this overly quiet and awkward atmosphere, Wen Xin took the initiative to bring up a topic. She asked, “Dong Xun, is there anything you like?”
The silence by her ear lasted for several seconds before a reply finally came.
“…Reading.”
“Oh, oh. Liking reading is very good. Books contain a lot of knowledge that can enlighten people. It shows that you’re someone who can calm your heart. Society is so restless these days. There are very few people who can quiet down and read.”
Wen Xin almost strictly followed Zhong Siyu’s doctor’s orders. No matter what, when facing Dong Xun, she gave her a round of praise. The positive emotional value had to be maxed out. Only after praising her did she tentatively ask again, “Then… besides reading?”
“There’s nothing else.”
“How can there be nothing else?” Wen Xin grew a little anxious. “Dr. Zhong said I should support your hobbies more. Reading is good too, but sitting all the time isn’t good for your body either. Think about it again. Do you have any other hobbies?”
Dong Xun did not speak for a long time.
Wen Xin suddenly remembered what kind of life Dong Xun had lived before. Her wings had been forcibly broken, and she had been imprisoned in this tiny space. Even her sense of self had been restricted, so how could she possibly have any other hobbies?
“It’s okay if you don’t have any. We can slowly discover them later.”
She unconsciously raised her voice, afraid that Dong Xun would overthink it, urgently trying to skip over this topic.
In the small space of the kitchen, under the dim yellow light, the beautiful Alpha still held a spatula in her hand. Her large, pale-colored pupils were filled with unease and cautiousness, making her look inexplicably a little silly.
Dong Xun was dazed for a moment.
Wen Xin was a beautiful Alpha, prettier than some Omegas. Unfortunately, her genetic rank was very low.
And precisely because her genetic rank was low, the two of their names had been able to appear in the same matching database. In the end, they had come together and gotten married.
The first time Dong Xun saw Wen Xin, she had also frozen for a few seconds because of her face. During those few seconds of daze, she had once fantasized that perhaps she was about to have a home of her own, that perhaps her life was about to get better.
Even if everything was not perfect, at worst, at least the two of them could live together peacefully.
At least, she would be able to escape her original family.
But Dong Xun had never thought of it, and had never suspected, that this Alpha, who looked delicate, pretty, frail, and polite, would become someone who, once the door was closed, punched and kicked her Omega wife to vent her anger.
From then on, her life fell into an even deeper abyss.
“Did Dr. Zhong say anything about me?” Dong Xun skipped over the topic of hobbies just as Wen Xin wished, but immediately after, she asked softly.
This question had been circling in Dong Xun’s heart for several days.
She knew there was something wrong with her mind. Those heavy emotions that wrapped around her every moment, dragging her into wanting to die every night, were not normal.
If the inappropriate topic from earlier only made Wen Xin feel a little anxious, then this topic truly made her feel somewhat frustrated with herself.
She had simply brought up exactly the thing she should not have brought up.
One had to know, what Wen Xin feared most these days was Dong Xun asking about that day at the psychology clinic.
Avoidance was not a solution in the end, but for the brief present, it was very useful.
Wen Xin pretended not to understand despite knowing perfectly well. “Nothing much. Dr. Zhong only said that if you stay at home for a long time, your mood will be affected. She told me to take you out more and especially reminded me to take you to places you like.”
Perhaps because she felt that saying this was a little OOC and did not match her persona, she added a patch and muttered quietly, “Dr. Zhong and Dr. Qiao scolded me bloody, you know. How would I dare not do as they said?”
Zhong Siyu had indeed advised Wen Xin that it would be best to take Dong Xun out to come into contact with natural environments more often. It would help her relax and broaden her state of mind.
Even if Wen Xin was socially anxious, for Dong Xun’s health, she would grit her teeth and do it.
At worst, at worst, when the time came, she would just wear two more layers of masks…
“I’m fine. There’s no need to waste that money on me.” Dong Xun lifted her eyes and glanced at Wen Xin, then very quickly lowered them again. Her voice was very light, but her tone was very serious. She seemed to genuinely think that money spent on her was a waste.
How could a normal person feel that she did not deserve to have money spent on her?
Unless the original owner had said something like that to her before.
Wen Xin felt a little heartache and said in a tone that allowed no doubt, “In any case, listening to the doctor is the right thing to do. Besides, now that I’ve resigned, staying at home makes me feel stuffy too. I want to go out and relax a little.”
“As for money… I’m here. You don’t need to worry.”
When Wen Xin said this, she did not feel guilty at all.
Because over the past two days, through studying the phone and bank transactions the original owner had left behind, she discovered that aside from being a dead scumbag who committed domestic violence against her wife, the original owner was also a trend-following dead simp who kept a white moonlight in her heart and thought herself deeply devoted.
That alone would have been one thing, but she had actually transferred a lot of money to that woman named Cheng Mian. Added together, before and after, it came close to over a hundred thousand.
She herself was about to be unable to keep the pot boiling with her wife, yet she had still bought that woman designer bags!
Society had still developed too well. Labor was not cheap, especially factory work, which required physical effort. The wages offered were almost higher than some ordinary white-collar salaries.
Otherwise, the original owner would not have been able to take out two hundred thousand in betrothal money. Even this small sixth-floor walk-up apartment, although a little old and shabby, had been fully paid for by her.
Wen Xin carefully read through the chat records between the original owner and that Cheng Mian. The other party had clearly said that the money counted as being borrowed from the original owner.
Since it was borrowed, it could be asked back for, right…
At least this way, before finding the next job, she would not starve herself and Dong Xun to death.
She absolutely had to get this money back.
This money could temporarily serve as a transition. If things really did not work out later, then she would have to go out and find work.
Wen Xin silently firmed up this thought in her heart, then suddenly took Dong Xun’s hand and promised her with an especially serious expression, “Dong Xun, don’t worry. I’ll definitely take good care of you.”
The Alpha, not tall and strong enough, but beautiful and slender enough, stood there. Her eyes shone with tiny bright points of light, like two meteors suddenly flashing in an ancient darkness, letting someone accustomed to endless night quietly catch sight of them. From then on, the world was overturned.
There was neither sorrow nor joy in Dong Xun’s eyes.
Reason told her she should not believe it, but in some silent corner, her heart still could not help trembling inexplicably.
She knew that the Wen Xin in front of her was no longer the original Wen Xin.
