Chapter 11
Yellow Hair followed behind Liu Sihui and said cautiously, “How about we just forget it?”
“What kind of bullshit are you spouting?” Liu Sihui’s eyes were vicious. “If I just let this go, how am I supposed to keep throwing my weight around at Xuanfeng? If I don’t teach her a lesson, the people under me will think I’m scared. The words ‘forget it’ don’t exist in my dictionary.”
“No,” Yellow Hair bit her lip uneasily and tried to persuade her. “Boss, the reason I suggested posting that video online to teach her a lesson back then was because I wanted to take a roundabout approach. I was afraid we’d provoke Zhong Yingzhi. She seems like one of Zhong Yingzhi’s people.”
“Stop bringing up that video to me. That lousy idea was yours. Haven’t I been cursed out badly enough already?” Liu Sihui’s face was full of anger. “You’re thinking too much. I don’t think she could possibly be one of Zhong Yingzhi’s people. What kind of person is Zhong Yingzhi? Someone whose eyes are practically on top of her head. She looks down on everyone. The last time she helped them in the cafeteria, she probably just happened to feel charitable in passing.”
Yellow Hair still wanted to keep persuading her, but Liu Sihui glared at her. “Cut the fucking nonsense. I’m going to block that bitch named Mu Cheng today. Just tell me whether you’re coming or not. If you’re not coming, then don’t follow me, Liu Sihui, anymore.”
Yellow Hair was afraid Mu Cheng really was one of Zhong Yingzhi’s people, but she also did not want to offend Liu Sihui. In the end, she stomped her foot and still agreed. “Boss, what are you saying? If you’re blocking someone, of course I’m going.”
Liu Sihui gave a cold snort, her expression easing slightly. “That’s more like it.”
…
As the saying went, joy often gave way to sorrow. Barely two days after the video matter passed, Mu Cheng ran into trouble.
Although she had expected early on that Liu Sihui would not let things go easily, she had not expected this group of people to be arrogant to such an extent.
Mu Cheng was dragged by brute force into an alley outside the school. The alley was narrow. It had just rained, so the ground was muddy, and the air carried a damp earthy smell.
Seven or eight people surrounded Mu Cheng. Their hair was dyed in all sorts of colors, in a retro Shamate style that was extremely eye-catching.
Mu Cheng took a step back. “What are you trying to do?”
Liu Sihui chewed gum and blew a bubble, looking at her with a smile that was not quite a smile. “Say, aren’t you getting a little too full of yourself? What, you weren’t happy that I posted your video online?”
Being surrounded by a group of people with ill intentions, it was impossible for Mu Cheng not to be afraid.
She kept retreating, her gaze wary.
Liu Sihui spat the gum onto the ground, pulled a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, took one out, lit it with a lighter, and took a drag. “Just because you and Zhong Yingzhi are in the same dorm, you think she’ll protect you? She saved you once in the cafeteria, and now you’re so inflated you think you can strut around this school however you like?”
With a cigarette between her fingers, Liu Sihui closed in on Mu Cheng and said lazily, “How about this? I’ll give you my position as boss and let you become Xuanfeng’s boss instead. What do you think?”
Mu Cheng’s hands, hanging at her sides, trembled slightly. She was clearly panicking badly, but she did not want to show fear, so she pretended to be calm. “Private fights can get you expelled. Aren’t you afraid of being kicked out of school? If you don’t get out of my way, believe it or not, I’ll call the police.”
“Call the police?” Liu Sihui laughed. “Hey, did you hear that? She said she’s going to call the police.”
The seven or eight delinquent girls beside her burst into laughter.
Liu Sihui said, “You’re going to call the police? I’m so scared. Private fights can get people expelled? How terrifying. I’m scared to death.”
Following Liu Sihui’s words, the delinquent girls laughed even harder, not taking Mu Cheng’s threat seriously at all.
Liu Sihui leaned close to Mu Cheng and blew smoke at her.
The strong smell of tobacco suddenly assaulted her nose. Mu Cheng choked and bent over, coughing violently.
“Still such a good little student, huh? You can’t even stand the smell of smoke.” Liu Sihui sneered. “I’m not an unreasonable person either. Kneel down, kowtow three times, and apologize to me. Then I’ll let the previous matter go.”
Mu Cheng coughed until her neck turned red. After she finally recovered, she straightened up and glared at her.
Liu Sihui threw the cigarette to the ground and stepped on it to put it out. “Right now, you either kowtow and apologize to us, or I’ll strip you clean and film it for some fun. Two choices. Pick one. Of course, we very much welcome you choosing the second one.”
Liu Sihui signaled to Yellow Hair. Yellow Hair took out her phone, opened the camera, and aimed it at Mu Cheng.
“I’m not choosing anything. Go to hell.” After saying that, Mu Cheng steeled her heart, grabbed a stone from the ground, and rushed at Liu Sihui.
Trapped by them in this alley, with no one answering even if she called to the heavens or the earth, she would be humiliated either way. She might as well strike first. Landing even one punch would be one punch earned.
As the saying went, to capture bandits, capture the leader first. She would hit Liu Sihui first and think about the rest later.
The plan was perfect, but reality was cruel.
Mu Cheng was just a little girl who had never even fought before, someone who could barely lift a bucket of water. How could she possibly beat Liu Sihui, the school’s “boss”? Not to mention, Liu Sihui had seven or eight lackeys with her.
In just a few moves, someone grabbed Mu Cheng by the hair and pinned her to the ground, leaving her unable to move.
Liu Sihui touched her face. A patch of skin had been scraped, and a little blood flowed out. “Fuck you. You actually dared hit me with a rock.”
Liu Sihui walked forward and viciously kicked Mu Cheng, who was being held down on the ground, several times in the stomach.
After kicking her seven or eight times and venting her anger, Liu Sihui called to her lackeys. “Strip her for me. Yellow Hair, film it properly. Make sure it’s clear.”
Yellow Hair held the phone up from behind and filmed, nodding repeatedly in agreement.
Mu Cheng clutched her kicked stomach. A sweet metallic taste rose in her throat, and a mouthful of blood surged out. Her gaze was scattered and blurred, and the pain and fear made her whole body tremble.
They were about to start stripping her clothes. Mu Cheng struggled, terror in her eyes.
When she was in a desperate situation, someone happened to pass by the alley entrance.
“Help!” Mu Cheng cried out hoarsely, calling for help from the passerby.
The person at the alley entrance stopped and turned their head to look over. Her brownish-gold long hair fell over her shoulders, and her pale blue eyes carried indifference.
Yellow Hair lowered the phone she was filming with, walked to Liu Sihui’s side, and reminded her, “Someone’s at the alley entrance. It’s Zhong Yingzhi.”
Liu Sihui frowned, somewhat uneasy.
Zhong Yingzhi had helped Mu Cheng in the cafeteria before, but back then, Zhong Yingzhi had said she did not know Mu Cheng. Judging from that, their relationship did not seem good. Liu Sihui had guessed that their relationship was not much, which was why she had dared to make a move against Mu Cheng. But now, she was a little uncertain.
When Mu Cheng saw that the person who had come was Zhong Yingzhi, her eyes lit up, and she secretly let out a breath of relief. She shoved away the people pinning her down. “Zhong Yingzhi, save me.”
Zhong Yingzhi stood at the alley entrance for a while. Then she withdrew her gaze and walked away unhurriedly.
“Zhong Yingzhi, don’t leave. You’re just going to watch someone die without saving them?” Mu Cheng watched helplessly as she left.
Once she had gone far away, the hope in Mu Cheng’s eyes was extinguished as well, and panic seized her.
Liu Sihui let out a long breath of relief. Her suspended heart finally settled. She gestured to Yellow Hair and the lackeys. “What are you standing there for? Keep filming. Keep stripping her.”
Mu Cheng curled up in the corner, protecting her clothes and trembling all over.
Liu Sihui had given the order, but her lackeys did not move. Just as Liu Sihui felt puzzled, she heard the sound of feet stepping through muddy puddles behind her with a splashing crackle.
Before Liu Sihui could turn around, she only felt a sharp pain in her head, and then she fell to the ground.
Liu Sihui had been knocked down from behind.
Zhong Yingzhi had left and returned, now holding a wooden stick she had picked up from who knew where.
Zhong Yingzhi pointed the stick at Liu Sihui. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she asked coldly, “How many times did you kick her?”
Liu Sihui clutched her bleeding head, furious but not daring to speak.
Zhong Yingzhi swept her gaze over the other lackeys before it landed on Yellow Hair, who was holding the phone. “You tell me. How many times did she kick her?”
Yellow Hair hid the phone behind her back, swallowed in fear, and stammered, “About… about seven or eight times.”
Expressionless, Zhong Yingzhi reached her hand out toward Yellow Hair. “Give me the phone.”
Yellow Hair quickly handed over the phone.
After Zhong Yingzhi got the phone, she looked at the video that had just been filmed. Her breathtakingly beautiful face was immediately covered in storm clouds.
Her thin lips pressed together, and she smashed the phone hard onto the ground.
The phone hit the ground beside Liu Sihui with a sharp crack, shattering into pieces and frightening Liu Sihui so badly that she shuddered.
Liu Sihui climbed up. “Eldest Miss Zhong, last time you said you didn’t know her, so I thought…”
Zhong Yingzhi did not wait for her to finish. She raised the stick and pointed it at her. “I watched the video. It was filmed quite well. You kicked her a total of ten times.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhong Yingzhi’s eyes sharpened. She raised the wooden stick and swung it at Liu Sihui. Liu Sihui protected her head and crouched on the ground, not daring to resist at all.
One blow followed another. Every strike was fierce and heavy. The sound of the wooden stick landing, along with Liu Sihui’s cries of pain, echoed through the small alley.
The lackeys who usually followed Liu Sihui’s lead did not dare step forward to help. All of them shrank back and stayed still.
Mu Cheng watched this scene, her eyes widening slightly. When had she ever seen Zhong Yingzhi like this? The Zhong Yingzhi of the past merely had an unpleasant way of speaking and a cold personality. When had she ever been this ruthless, so ruthless that it made people fear her, so ruthless that it seemed as though she wanted to kill someone?
Naturally, Mu Cheng would not be so saintly as to pity Liu Sihui. It was just that at this rate, if Zhong Yingzhi kept hitting her, even if she did not beat her to death, she would probably beat her half-crippled.
Enduring the pain all over her body, Mu Cheng climbed up from the ground and grabbed Zhong Yingzhi’s hand that was holding the stick. “S-S-Sister, please stop hitting her. If you keep going, something bad will happen.”
Zhong Yingzhi stopped and looked at Mu Cheng. Her gaze was like the piercing cold wind of winter, carrying a vicious ruthlessness that made Mu Cheng shrink back in fear.
Taking advantage of this gap, Liu Sihui climbed up from the ground and staggered away. As she ran, she looked back once, the corner of her eye twitching with malice.
Since Liu Sihui had run, her lackeys naturally scattered like birds and beasts as well.
Only Zhong Yingzhi and Mu Cheng were left in the alley.
Mu Cheng’s hair was a mess, blood still stained the corner of her mouth, and mud had smeared across her body. Her clothes were disheveled, leaving her in a miserable state.
Having escaped disaster, Mu Cheng crouched on the ground in lingering fear and began crying uselessly.
Zhong Yingzhi threw away the wooden stick in her hand and lowered her head to look down at this person crouching on the ground, shoulders trembling as she cried. Her lips pressed together slightly, and a trace of helplessness and annoyance flashed through her eyes.
She took off her coat, walked forward, and draped it over Mu Cheng’s body. Her cold, stiff voice softened for once.
“Stop crying.”
