When the young saleswoman heard Yu Wanqiao seriously and formally call Zhan Yao her wife, she froze at first. Then a thought instinctively floated into her mind—

She must love her very much.

“Then the two of you must be very much in love,” the young woman said, sounding as excited as though she had discovered some earth-shattering news. “You and your wife look so perfect together!”

At the sound of those particular words, Yu Wanqiao froze for several seconds. She seemed to be thinking about something, and only after a long silence did she speak again.

“No.”

Just as before, she chose to tell the truth.

“?” The young woman seemed unable to understand her.

Thinking she had said something wrong, countless possibilities immediately flashed through her mind. Judging by their clothes and bearing, neither of them seemed ordinary. Could this be some kind of marriage of convenience involving complicated interests between their families?

If that was the case, then perhaps “in love” truly was not the right way to describe them.

“Uh, I…” The young woman stood there blankly, her mind working furiously as she tried to find a way to correct what she had said.

However, before she could speak, she suddenly realized she had been overthinking it.

As she spoke, she reached out to shove the saleswoman.

That was far too outrageous!

President Yu was still here. How could they allow her to witness such a scene?

The manager immediately broke into a cold sweat and hurriedly prepared to summon security. However, before he could move, Zhan Yao had already stepped forward.

“And this one, that one, that ring, and those earrings…” She selected more than a dozen pieces in succession before slowly and proudly turning toward the woman beside her again. “Do you see? When you like something, you make a decisive purchase. That is what being wealthy looks like.”

“I don’t think it’s only that bracelet that doesn’t suit you. Perhaps this entire boutique isn’t suitable for you. After all, the two of you…” She deliberately paused, sweeping her gaze over the man and woman. “Tsk, tsk, tsk.”

Her contempt could not have been clearer.

The woman was furious. Even the man became enraged.

“You want to compare family wealth, is that it? Fine. Wrap up everything she just selected. I’ll take it all!”

“If she wants them that badly, let her have them,” Zhan Yao said, generously stepping aside.

“Hmph.” The woman snorted, believing she had won completely.

That belief lasted until the saleswoman finished calculating the total and announced the price.

Several seconds later, the man was stunned. “How much?”

The young woman honestly repeated the amount.

This pile of worthless junk cost that much?

The man sobered up halfway on the spot. No longer caring about his dignity, he grabbed the woman and tried to leave.

“Let’s go. Didn’t you say you wanted ice cream? I’ll buy you some.”

“Buy what?” Seeing that he wanted to leave, the woman immediately understood. “Let me tell you, I only agreed to come out with you today under certain conditions. You kept saying you’d buy me anything I wanted, but a few pieces of jewelry are enough to defeat you? Do you believe I’ll tell your wife about us?!”

“Charge the card,” he said reluctantly.

The card was declined for insufficient funds.

The man frowned and searched through his bag for a while before saying, “My wife opened a membership account here and deposited money into it. Can I give you her phone number?”

“No.”

Before the young saleswoman could answer, Yu Wanqiao, who had remained silent until now, suddenly spoke.

“According to the relevant regulations, only the registered member may personally use the membership account.”

“Relevant regulations?” the man instinctively asked. “What regulations? Why haven’t I heard of them?”

“Regulations that were just established,” Yu Wanqiao said. “If a member objects, this shopping center will refund twice the remaining balance on the account.”

“Of course, the refund will be issued to your wife.”

“You will not receive a single cent.”

As expected of her wife. She understood the situation perfectly.

Zhan Yao smiled. Had there not been so many people around, she would have applauded Yu Wanqiao.

Sure enough, the man was so furious that he opened his mouth but could say nothing. He could only grab the woman beside him.

“Hurry up and leave. Stop embarrassing yourself here!”

Only after they watched the couple disappear into the distance did the farce finally end.

“Blacklist those two. They’re no longer welcome here,” Zhan Yao said, looking toward Yu Wanqiao as though discussing it with her.

Yu Wanqiao replied, “All right.”

Satisfied, Zhan Yao gave a light snort and turned back around. Looking at the young saleswoman, who had still not recovered, she handed her a tissue.

“Stop crying.”

“Help me settle the bill,” she said.

“You want all of these?” the young woman asked in surprise.

“Of course not,” Zhan Yao hurriedly replied.

Everything she had done earlier had only been intended to provoke those two irritating people. She did not have that much money.

“I only want one.”

As she spoke, she pointed to one of the bracelets she had selected earlier.

“This one. Charge the card. There’s no need to wrap it.”

“Wanqiao, come here,” she then said, curling a finger toward Yu Wanqiao to reward her excellent performance earlier. “Try it on and see whether it fits.”

“Your Sister Zhan bought it for you.”
