My Master Is a Great Dragon, Clinging to Me Every Day! - Chapter 15
The moment her boots landed on the ground,
Xu Zhiyi had barely steadied herself and pressed two fingers together.
Before she could even return the flying sword hovering in midair to its sheath,
she saw two male disciples holding plain silver swords in their arms, staring at her with ill intent. They looked like complete hooligans as one of them gave a whistle.
He even raised his brows while he was at it.
He brushed aside the loose strands of hair falling across his face, looking rather confident.
“Xu the Waste, what made you willing to come out today? Don’t tell me you came to admire our mighty figures?”
“Gah, gah, gah, gah, gah, gah, gah!”
That drake-like laugh matched these crooked melons and cracked dates perfectly.
“Where did these two ducks come from?”
Xu Zhiyi was full of question marks. She was in the sect, had just gotten off her flying sword, and somehow she was already being surrounded and blocked.
“You… what did you just say, you useless trash? Who are you calling ducks?!”
Just one sentence was enough to stir up their anger. Their faces flushed red, as though they had never expected that Xu Zhiyi, who used to let others bully her, would actually dare to act tough now.
In the sect, because Xu Zhiyi’s aptitude was so poor, inner disciples like them often mocked her as “Ten-Thousand-Year Foundation Establishment.”
She could forget about ever forming a Golden Core in this lifetime. With her cultivation, she probably could not condense one even if she tried.
If she had not gotten lucky and become Lord Hanshan’s eldest disciple, and if Lord Hanshan had not been so generous with her usual share of resources,
she probably would not even have reached Qi Refining by now.
She was nothing more than a waste piled up with medicinal pills. Why would they be afraid of her?
“Don’t think that just because Lord Hanshan is backing you up, we won’t dare do anything to you. Today, I just don’t like the look of you!”
After saying that, the man with tied-up hair twisted his face fiercely and pulled out the sword in his arms, about to unsheathe the blade.
“Hey…”
Xu Zhiyi had not expected that, in broad daylight, disciples of the Yunling Sword Sect would actually draw their swords against a fellow disciple. Before she could stop them, anger also began to rise in her heart.
Clearly, she was the one being surrounded by two ducks and personally attacked.
Two sword blades flashing with cold light slashed toward her at the same time. The two of them clearly showed no mercy at all, bringing with them a fierce sword wind.
Even the dust on the ground was swept aside. Xu Zhiyi grabbed the long sword still hovering in the air with one hand. The blade swept horizontally, and water-colored ripples spread from the sword intent.
Sparks collided. Both blades struck Xu Zhiyi’s sword.
But for some reason, a surge of fierce energy seemed to come from the other side.
The two men’s hands went numb at the webbing between thumb and forefinger. They gritted their teeth.
Yet they were still shaken by that water-colored ripple until they staggered back several steps.
One of them even failed to stand properly and fell butt-first onto the blue stone slabs. The plain sword in his hand also fell to the ground.
A dusty mark immediately appeared on his backside. He could not have looked more pathetic.
“You useless waste! Do you know whose disciple I am?!”
“I’m going to tell my master! Just you wait!”
The two of them supported themselves on the ground with both hands and were about to run away in a sorry state, when a tall man stepped forward. He was dressed in luxurious elegance.
At a glance, it was obvious his background was not ordinary.
“You two, why are you fighting with a fellow disciple?”
“Hasn’t the sect clearly forbidden this? This is not allowed.”
He wore a rectangular jade pendant at his waist and was dressed, like them, in the blue robes of an inner disciple. Xu Zhiyi racked her brain, feeling that this person looked somewhat familiar.
“Senior Brother Xu… I…”
“It was clearly this useless waste who used a dirty trick! How did she suddenly get so strong?!”
A pot of shit had dropped from the sky.
Xu Zhiyi helplessly rolled her eyes. If they could not beat her, then they could not beat her. Why did they have to insist she had used some dirty trick?
“Between the two of you and me, who exactly is the useless waste?”
She clapped her hands.
Xu Zhiyi wiped the droplets of water off the blade with her finger, sheathed the sword in her hand, and held it again. Then she raised her brows.
There was a trace of youthful high spirits in her expression.
Xu Minghui had heard Xu Zhiyi’s famous name before. Legend said that Lord Hanshan had accepted an utterly ordinary disciple whose cultivation was unimpressive and whose character was not much better.
They had only met briefly a few times at sect assemblies before and were not very familiar.
But now that he saw her again, it seemed one truly had to look at a person with new eyes after three days apart.
“Naturally, it’s you. We are all people who cultivate diligently. Unlike you…”
Before he could continue, an elder with a long, sour-looking face walked over. His face was full of beard, and the wrinkles on his face looked like they could pinch a fly to death.
Judging from his appearance, he had to be at least several hundred years old, like an antique. He looked like one too.
“What are you making noise for? The sect is a place of quiet cultivation. How can it allow you to screech nonstop like monkeys?”
“Do you have any sect rules left in you?”
He held a white scroll in his hand and glanced at the center of this farce. Then he looked at Xu Zhiyi and handed the scroll in his hand to her.
“You. Post this on the bulletin board outside.”
Xu Zhiyi accepted it. Fine. Since it was an instruction from a sect elder, she would reluctantly give him some face this once.
So she obediently walked to the bulletin board. As she posted it, she carefully read it—
“Starting tomorrow, the Yunling Sword Sect will hold a comprehensive aptitude assessment for disciples. Outer disciples and nominal disciples must all come to observe, study, cultivate diligently, and train hard. After the inner disciples’ comprehensive aptitude assessment concludes, outer disciples and nominal disciples will undergo a unified qualification exam. If any disciple is found to have regressed in results, the Yunling Sword Sect will expel them without exception.”
“No mercy?”
As expected of a major sect. Why was the intensity so high? Xu Zhiyi sighed inwardly. It seemed she had to keep up.
Otherwise, if she really got swept out of the sect,
her life might become dangerous.
Being in a major sect naturally had its benefits. She did not have to worry about sleeping in the open or going hungry. The sect had dormitories, a master, and even a mountain-guarding spirit beast protecting it.
If she really went outside to carve out her own world, that would be asking for suffering. Maybe the moment she reached halfway down the mountain, a demonic cultivator would snatch her away and harvest her kidneys.
Just thinking about it was terrifying.
Xu Zhiyi decided it was still better to lean against a big tree and enjoy the shade. Since she lacked funds, she would first work hard at surviving for a while.
If there was a chance in the future, she could also go hunt a few monsters while she was at it.
A spell condensed in her hand. Blue ripples pasted the paper onto the bulletin board, and in an instant, many disciples crowded around.
Xu Zhiyi had come to the sect today intending to go to the Alchemy Hall first and buy the items she needed.
However, the sect was truly a bit too large. For a moment, she could not find her way. Looking at the fellow disciples whispering in front of the bulletin board,
Xu Zhiyi planned to grab someone and ask for directions. Who knew that, in the crowd, an even louder commotion would suddenly erupt?
“Elder Hanshan is here!”
Everyone moved aside to open a path. Xu Zhiyi saw that Master was also wearing the elder robes of the Yunling Sword Sect today, only slightly modified.
This outfit looked even more refreshing and graceful. Black wrist guards were tied around her wrists.
“Lord Hanshan really is just like the rumors say. Calling her the number one fairy of the Nine Provinces would not be an exaggeration~”
“With such beauty, what a pity she isn’t my master.”
“She really is stunning. It seems the rumors were true!”
