OO Romance—The Yuri Of All Yuri! - Chapter 9
Bian Lu seemed not to notice Su Yi’s fire-breathing glare at all. She looked straight into Su Yi’s eyes and still managed to lie without changing expression. Sure enough, the green tea label had not been wrongly pinned on her.
Bian Lu said, “I’m already much better. There’s no need to rush to the hospital. It’s more important to explain things clearly to the officer first.”
Su Yi: “…”
She had said Bian Lu was sick, and Bian Lu immediately turned it into going to the hospital. What a flawless response. Should Su Yi give her a like, comment, and subscribe too?
Explain clearly?
Explain your sister!
What was there left to explain?
Driving without a license and then trying to flee out of guilt. Originally, it would have been fifteen days of detention. Now it would be three months.
How about that?
Satisfied?
I think you did this on purpose!
You hate me for cutting off your little treasury, so now you’re taking revenge on me, aren’t you?
Su Yi glared at Bian Lu through gritted teeth. Before she could speak, Bian Lu suddenly leaned forward slightly, speaking past Su Yi to smile apologetically at the traffic officer outside the car.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t feeling well just now, and she was too anxious. She only wanted to take me to the hospital as quickly as possible. She didn’t deliberately violate traffic rules.”
As she spoke, Bian Lu raised a hand and stuck the omega blocker patch Su Yi had peeled off back onto her neck.
A blocker patch that had already been removed did not stick very well when reapplied. Three of the four corners were curling up, but the gland was covered again, and the faint scent that had just been released quickly dissipated.
The traffic officer covered his nose and mouth as he carefully approached. After making sure there was no more scent, he finally lowered his hand and took a deep breath, frowning.
“There’s no need to give reasons. State your name and ID number immediately, or I’ll handle this as driving without a license.”
Bian Lu said, “There’s no need. She really was driving without a license.”
Su Yi laughed from anger.
She had seen people tear down someone else’s stage, but never someone who tore down her own as well.
This woman couldn’t really be seriously ill, could she?
Even if she wanted revenge, she should at least look at the situation. This was her own body. Was she not afraid of leaving herself with a record?
They had clearly been about to escape from the tiger’s den. Why was this woman rushing to leave a stain on herself? What exactly was her goal?
Could it be… this woman was deliberately trying to get Su Yi sent to a detention center so she could take over the nest like a cuckoo and seize the chance to scheme for the Su family’s assets?
Then she was truly too naive.
Was the Su family’s money that easy to get her hands on?
Did she think those old things on the board of directors were dead?
Bian Lu looked at Su Yi with an expression that clearly said, I have something to say, but it isn’t convenient to say it now.
Su Yi could not be bothered with her. She turned to the traffic officer.
Since Bian Lu had already handed her a ladder, Su Yi was too lazy to come up with another plan and simply climbed down.
“Yes. She wasn’t feeling well just now and said she was about to die. I panicked for a moment and wanted to drive her to the hospital. I didn’t expect to get caught red-handed.”
“So you’re saying you were driving without a license? And you were trying to flee?”
“I wasn’t trying to flee. I was just scared. I was afraid you would take me to jail.”
At a time like this, the better one’s attitude, the easier it was to receive leniency. But Su Yi had never shown weakness to anyone in her life. She did not know how to act spoiled, much less how to pretend to be pitiful. She also refused to allow herself to gain benefits by showing weakness. That would make her feel inferior, humiliated—even though being stubborn right now had no meaning whatsoever.
She could not show weakness.
She could not be like other omegas, tugging on the traffic officer’s arm and sweetly calling him “Officer-gege.”
The only thing she could do was avoid eye contact as much as possible. Her mother had once said that her gaze was too arrogant, and that it gave others the mistaken impression that she looked down on them.
Actually, that was not a mistaken impression.
She did look down on most people.
She lowered her eyes, and her voice naturally dropped with them. Unexpectedly, by pure accident, it actually worked.
The traffic officer had still been angry at first, but as they continued speaking, he ended up comforting her instead.
“Don’t be afraid. It won’t be as serious as jail.”
“If I don’t go to jail, will I be detained?”
“There will be detention, but it won’t be for very long.”
At minimum, it would still be fifteen days.
“Will this be reported to my school?”
“No. It’s just an ordinary traffic violation. It won’t be reported to your school.”
What a pity. Couldn’t they expel Bian Lu and make Su Yi happy?
The fact that the traffic officer had suddenly become so easy to talk to left Su Yi somewhat unaccustomed. In truth, over the years, she had dealt with traffic officers plenty of times. Her attitude was always bad, and the officers were never polite to her either. Not one ticket had been spared, and most of them were issued at the maximum penalty. She simply had not cared about that little bit of money.
She had never expected that today, she would actually get the minimum.
Of course, the credit went to Bian Lu’s naturally pitiful face.
Most omegas were born beautiful. The level of beauty, however, varied greatly. Some were beautiful like vulgar street omegas. Some were beautiful like noble ladies.
Bian Lu’s beauty was fresh and natural, like a clear, trickling stream, like snow just beginning to melt in early spring. Her beauty was fragile from head to toe. Even her lashes were sparse and thin, neither dense nor dramatic, completely different from Su Yi’s rich, striking features.
Especially Bian Lu’s eyes.
Su Yi’s eyes were sharp and aggressive, while Bian Lu’s were always wet, with the corners often flushed red. That redness was terribly alluring, like the last petal trembling on a branch in a storm—broken yet heartbreakingly beautiful, making people unable to resist wanting to protect her.
An alpha at the traffic officer’s age and prime would naturally be one of those people who “couldn’t resist wanting to protect her.”
Su Yi glanced at the rearview mirror and caught sight of that pair of pitiful eyes in the narrow reflection. Disgusted, she looked away.
Born with a fawning face. Only those shallow alphas would like it. Su Yi only found it disgusting.
When Su Yi hated someone, there was not a single thing about them that could be right from head to toe. Even breathing was immoral.
The red light had long since turned green. The traffic officer directed Su Yi to pull the car over to the roadside and signaled for both of them to get out and go with him to the traffic police station.
In this world, driving without a license counted as a relatively serious offense. The fine was large, and detention started at fifteen days and could go up to ninety days. Once someone had a record of driving without a license, they were not allowed to take the driver’s license exam for five years.
Five years!
Su Yi laughed coldly in silence.
Bian Lu dared to screw her over like this. Had she never considered that they could switch back at any moment?
Or was this soul swap truly something Bian Lu had caused?
Su Yi sat in a chair filling out forms while listening to Bian Lu give her statement beside her.
“She didn’t do it on purpose. She just saw that I wasn’t feeling well and was anxious to take me to the hospital. Since she has a good attitude and admits her mistake, please handle this leniently.”
A cat crying over a dead mouse. No need for your fake sympathy.
Su Yi twirled the pen twice.
Clack.
The barrel of the pen fell onto the form.
What exactly had happened last night? Why had they suddenly swapped souls?
Although she had always suspected Bian Lu of being behind it, if Bian Lu had truly done it to obtain the Su family’s assets, then she should be more decisive, more organized, and more systematic.
At the moment, Bian Lu only seemed relaxed on the surface. In truth, she had not taken any concrete action.
Overall, Su Yi was more inclined to believe that the soul swap had been an accident.
Which meant the events of last night were the key.
Last night…
Su Yi stopped twirling the pen and frowned as she recalled.
Last night had been their senior’s farewell dinner. Their senior would be leaving the country for graduate school in the next couple of days, so several of them who were on good terms had gathered to eat and drink. Later, they even started playing truth or dare.
Su Yi’s luck had been good. For the first few rounds, it had not been her turn. Later, she lost once and chose dare. Then…
A few of her terrible friends suggested blindfolding her while everyone ran around the private room. Whoever she caught, she had to kiss. It had to be on the mouth. If she kissed the wrong place, she had to do it again.
If someone else had made such a demand, Su Yi would absolutely have flipped out on the spot. But among that group of terrible friends, except for one beta man, the rest were either omegas or female betas. Her senior was also a beta. It would be fine no matter whom she kissed. They were just fooling around. The dares some of them had done earlier were even more outrageous.
Still, kissing someone else was something Su Yi really could not do.
She went back on it and chose truth instead.
Her senior was the king, and her senior asked her, “Who do you like?”
She did not ask whether Su Yi had someone she liked. She directly asked whom she liked.
Had her senior discovered something?
Su Yi had drunk quite a lot at the time. Her mind was a little hazy. In a moment of panic, she switched back to dare.
Her terrible friends knew she had a cleanliness obsession, so they were still relatively restrained. But such a rare chance to mess with her was not something they were willing to let go of.
They folded up her senior’s outerwear and used it to cover Su Yi’s eyes, then laughed and shouted as they darted all over the private room to avoid her. Su Yi drunkenly grabbed around at random. At the time, with alcohol in her system, she thought that no matter who she caught, she would kiss them. They thought there was absolutely no way she would do it, so she was determined to shock them senseless.
In truth, they did not want to be kissed by her either. Not only were they close friends, but in the biological sense, they were all the same sex.
Except for that beta man, Zhou Wenqi.
But Zhou Wenqi was very proper. He had not come close.
At the time, the private room was chaos. People were jumping and dodging everywhere, and laughter and shouts filled the room. Drunk, Su Yi reached around blindly until she suddenly hugged someone.
Without thinking, and with that breath of stubbornness caught in her chest—afraid her senior might guess, afraid the others might notice something, and also wanting to catch them completely off guard—she felt for that person’s head, cupped the back of their neck, and kissed them.
The private room went silent all at once. Someone even paused the song playing on the karaoke screen.
Then came a clattering sound.
Something had fallen to the floor, splashing wetness onto Su Yi’s foot.
She sensed that something was wrong and quickly pulled off the blindfold.
That person had already opened the door and run out, leaving only a tray on the floor and, luckily, juice glasses that had not shattered. Sweet orange juice had spilled over Su Yi’s foot.
It had been a server.
Su Yi had not seen their face clearly. She had only seen their back.
She had not paid attention before, but thinking about it now…
Could that person have been Bian Lu?
But Bian Lu had clearly already latched onto Cen Qingke. With such a major patron, did she still need to go out and work part-time?
And in that kind of chaotic place, no less?
One had to know that a young and beautiful omega like Bian Lu could easily be targeted in that kind of environment. If any random alpha dragged her into a corner and forcibly marked her, she would have nowhere to cry.
Removing a mark was extremely painful, and not everyone could have it removed successfully.
But that back really had looked like Bian Lu.
“Bian… Su Yi.”
Bian Lu was slow for a second before realizing Su Yi was calling her. She turned to look at Su Yi.
“Mm?”
First, Su Yi would test her.
Su Yi smiled faintly. “Last night was my FK. You really got a bargain.”
“FK?”
“First…”
Su Yi deliberately pressed her crimson lips together slowly, looking at Bian Lu with a smile that was not quite a smile.
Bian Lu’s gaze fell involuntarily to Su Yi’s lips. Her thin lashes, like tender grass shoots, blinked once, then again. Her fair little face remained fair, but her ears strangely began to flush red.
Oh~
It was her.
But her reaction was rather interesting.
She had clearly been kept by so many people, yet she could still feel shy?
Or perhaps it was not shyness. Maybe she was simply the type whose skin reddened easily by nature, just like the corners of her eyes that turned red whenever she felt even the slightest emotion, as if everyone were bullying her.
Last night had been no different from usual.
The only difference was that first kiss.
Could it be… kissing was the key to the swap?
Even Su Yi herself found it ridiculous. Wasn’t this kind of plot a required trope in novels? How could it happen in reality? Could it be that art really did come from life, and reality was even more melodramatic than fiction?
Seeing that fifteen days of detention was unavoidable, and since she could not use her original connections for help—not even tell her mother—she could only accept her rotten luck.
In that case… why not take a gamble?
What if they really switched back?
The forms were finished, and Bian Lu’s statement was done too. Bian Lu said she had no money and, stingy as could be, used Su Yi’s card to pay the fine.
She clearly had a patron, yet she claimed to have no money.
Could she really be some pitiful little melodrama heroine who had signed a body-selling agreement with a domineering CEO in order to treat someone’s illness?
Su Yi would believe that only if ghosts were real. Besides, Bian Lu had denied it earlier.
She had a patron but claimed she had no money, and there were no luxury goods at home either. That could only mean she was stingy.
Bian Lu really was stingy enough. The poorer she was, the more miserly she became.
Seeing that the procedures had all been completed, Bian Lu could leave, but Su Yi could not. She had to shed “tears behind bars” for fifteen days.
Su Yi had no time to think further and called out, “Bian Lu.”
Several traffic officers were still standing nearby, watching the two of them.
Originally, Su Yi had wanted to do what she had done last night: cup the back of Bian Lu’s head, kiss her once, and be done with it.
But…
Traffic Officer A: “If you have something to say, hurry up. If you don’t say it now, we won’t make it in time to send you to the detention center before we get off work.”
Traffic Officer B: “No need to make it look like a life-or-death farewell. It’s just ordinary detention. You’ll be out soon.”
Traffic Officer C: “You have ten minutes. Say what you need to say.”
Su Yi: “…”
Su Yi: “…………”
Su Yi: “………………”
Time passed second by second.
After remaining silent for quite a while, Su Yi suddenly crooked a finger at Bian Lu.
“Come here. I have something to say.”
Since she was not exactly a criminal, and since the matter had already been handled, there was no need to worry about them colluding over testimony. Although the traffic officers were all present, no one stopped them from whispering.
Bian Lu bent down in confusion and brought her ear closer.
Su Yi said quietly, “Kiss me.”
Bian Lu pulled back slightly and looked at her as if she were mentally challenged.
“Huh?”
Su Yi continued whispering, “One kiss for one million.”
I’ll trick you into kissing me first. As for getting money from me? Dream on.
“Huh?”
“Are you kissing me or not?!”
“Huh?”
Su Yi: “…”
Playing dumb, are you?
Seeing Su Yi’s hostile expression, Bian Lu narrowed her eyes and smiled. “You couldn’t be trying to repeat what happened last night to test whether we can switch back, could you?”
See? Last night really was her.
In a terrible mood, Su Yi gave a tiny nod.
“So that’s it…”
Bian Lu looked at her in distress. Her gaze moved downward little by little until it landed on Su Yi’s lips.
That gaze made Su Yi inexplicably uncomfortable. Pressing her lips together felt wrong. Not pressing them together also felt wrong. No matter what she did, she felt uncomfortable. It was like looking in a mirror in the middle of the night and suddenly seeing the reflection smile back at her. Too eerie.
“Can’t you be more straightforward? Or are you really coveting the Su family’s money?”
“Huh? What money?”
Su Yi had no idea how many times Bian Lu had looked at her with that confused, innocent gaze. That look might be useful against alphas, but it had no effect on Su Yi and only made her annoyed.
“How many times have I told you? Don’t use my face to make such disgusting expressions. Make your voice stronger too!”
“Oh. I… I’m afraid I can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t? Don’t smile, and make your voice a little harder. Isn’t that enough?”
“That’s not what I mean. I mean, facing my own face, I really… can’t quite do it. And there are so many people here.”
Su Yi’s face darkened again.
Bian Lu had never known that her own face could look like this when cold. Fierce in a milky sort of way. Actually rather… rather cute.
Good-tempered, Bian Lu said, “How about you do it instead?”
Su Yi stared at her for a few seconds. Then she suddenly let out a heavy, irritated snort and brushed past her to walk outside.
Bian Lu turned with her and followed behind, asking, “You’re leaving just like that? Not testing it? If you leave now, you won’t be able to test it again for at least fifteen days.”
Why did that sound more and more deliberate the longer Su Yi listened?
“Really leaving? Nothing else to explain? Fifteen days, you know. If I don’t go to class, the worst that can happen is failing, but doesn’t your family’s company have a lot going on? Will it really be fine for this long? Why don’t you try a little harder?”
Why don’t you try a little harder?!
“Su… Bian Lu?”
“Bian Lu???”
Su Yi was annoyed beyond endurance. Especially hearing Bian Lu use her voice to call out “Bian Lu”—it felt as if her own throat had been sullied.
At last, she could not help turning back and snapping, “If I could do it, would I need you? You’re so annoying! Shut up!”
Perhaps it was an illusion, but the smile at the corners of Bian Lu’s lips seemed to deepen, creating two tiny comma-like dimples on either side.
