Paranoid Girlfriend [Transmigration into a Book] - Chapter 20
After filling her stomach, Dai Shiyuan finally had a good night’s sleep.
Before six in the morning, footsteps sounded outside.
Dai Shiyuan was sleeping in a daze and was directly startled awake by the noise.
The moment she thought that the person outside was the female lead, all her sleepiness vanished. She opened her eyes wide, completely awake, and pricked up her ears to listen to the movement outside.
From outside came the occasional sound of water and footsteps. Only twenty minutes later, along with the dull sound of a door closing, did everything return to silence.
Dai Shiyuan immediately let out a breath of relief, rubbed her shoulders that had gone sore from being tense for so long, closed her eyes, and continued sleeping.
She had heard Father Dai say that the female lead was very busy these days, mainly because there were many things to handle for the start of school.
Looking at it that way, the time they saw each other could be reduced.
Dai Shiyuan felt slightly more at ease and slept all the way until noon before getting up.
If not for being hungry, she could have slept a little longer.
Back at the villa, she had lived every day in fear and anxiety, especially having to deal from time to time with the female lead’s sudden concern, causing her to sleep uneasily every night.
On the first night after moving here yesterday, she had not slept steadily either. She had even dreamed of the female lead chasing after her like a ferocious demon.
Thinking of the scene in her dream, Dai Shiyuan felt a chill all over and shuddered as goosebumps rose across her body.
That sense of panic from being relentlessly chased by the female lead still lingered. If she had not woken up, she truly felt as though she might have died in the dream.
Dai Shiyuan’s body trembled, and she got out of bed to wash up.
There was not much food in the apartment right now, so she had to go outside and buy some.
After walking around, Dai Shiyuan bought a bag of instant noodles from the supermarket in the residential complex.
She had not eaten them in such a long time that she actually missed them a little.
Dai Shiyuan happily made the noodles. While waiting for them to finish soaking, her phone rang.
Seeing that it was the female lead calling, Dai Shiyuan instinctively frowned and did not intend to answer.
After the ringtone stopped naturally, her phone rang again.
Dai Shiyuan narrowed her eyes, put the fork into her mouth, and bit down hard on it, glaring at the phone screen like a tiger watching its prey.
She refused to believe the female lead would keep calling forever.
Dai Shiyuan gave a light snort and slowly enjoyed her instant noodles.
The phone ringtone beside her did not stop. Even after she finished eating the instant noodles, the female lead was still persistently calling her.
This perseverance was indeed impressive, but also rather troublesome.
After drinking the last mouthful of soup, Dai Shiyuan pressed her lips together. Only after thinking for a while did she answer, “Sister-in-law, is something the matter?”
She spoke very coldly, hoping the other side would be tactful and quickly hang up.
“Xiao Yuan, are you up? Do you want Sister-in-law to bring you lunch?” Shan Yaxin asked gently, anger hidden in her eyes.
She had called for nearly half an hour before her younger sister-in-law answered.
Based on the other party’s clear voice, she could judge that this person had already been awake for quite some time. Just now, she had deliberately not answered Shan Yaxin’s calls.
“No need. I’ve already eaten.” Dai Shiyuan glanced at the instant noodles she had finished eating and continued coldly, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up first.”
Without waiting for Shan Yaxin to answer, Dai Shiyuan directly hung up.
She did not want to be close to the female lead. Maintaining this distant attitude was quite good.
Over time, she believed the female lead would naturally understand and would no longer always “care” about her like this.
Shan Yaxin looked at the call that had been hung up, and her eyes turned cold. Her long, fair fingers tightly gripped the phone.
After a while, she dialed another number and said softly, “Mom, she’s still in the apartment. I’m not sure when she’ll go out. You and Xiao Qing should play at home today. Don’t go outside.”
“All right,” Mother Shan agreed obediently, her expression somewhat helpless.
She felt that the Dai family’s younger daughter was quite good—kind and brave, not two-faced the way her eldest daughter described.
“Mommy, why won’t Sister let us play with that sister? She saved me last time, and I still haven’t thanked her,” Shan Xiaoqing asked in a soft child’s voice full of confusion.
Mother Shan’s heart softened, and she smiled gently as she coaxed, “Your sister must have her reasons for doing this. We just need to listen to her.”
Shan Xiaoqing nodded as if she understood, lowering her little head and blinking.
If she met that sister next time, she definitely had to thank her.
Dai Shiyuan suddenly sneezed. She looked at the room’s air-conditioning temperature. It seemed she had set it a little too low.
After raising the temperature by two degrees, Dai Shiyuan finally felt a little better.
Lying on the bed and thinking hard for a long while, Dai Shiyuan’s eyes suddenly lit up, and she called Father Dai.
It took quite a while before the call connected. His gentle voice sounded rushed. “Xiao Yuan, Dad has something to handle right now. I’ll call you back later.”
After saying this, Father Dai hung up.
Dai Shiyuan pursed her lips and could only temporarily suppress the excited idea in her heart.
She planned to ask Father Dai for allowance money and rent an apartment in another residential complex.
She truly did not want to live with the female lead…
