Paranoid Girlfriend [Transmigration into a Book] - Chapter 21
Dai Shiyuan guarded her phone, waiting for Father Dai to call back. In the end, even by five in the afternoon, there was still no movement from her phone at all.
At noon, she had only eaten one pack of instant noodles, and now her stomach was hungry again.
Dai Shiyuan pursed her lips, took her phone, and planned to go downstairs to buy something to eat.
She had just opened the door when Father Dai’s call came in.
Dai Shiyuan’s eyes immediately lit up. She excitedly answered the call, curved her lips, and sweetly called, “Dad, you finally called me back. I have something I want to talk to you about.”
Toward the end, Dai Shiyuan’s tone grew even softer, carrying a slight hint of acting spoiled.
Father Dai immediately understood that she had something to ask of him. He laughed indulgently and said gently, “Xiao Yuan, go ahead.”
“Dad, can you give me a little more allowance every month?” Dai Shiyuan asked softly, not explaining the reason.
“All right,” Father Dai agreed readily.
Dai Shiyuan was delighted. The light in her eyes grew even brighter, and she unconsciously lowered her voice as she said, “Dad, you absolutely can’t let a third person know about this, especially Mom and Sister-in-law.”
Hearing this, confusion appeared on Father Dai’s face, and he also lowered his voice as he asked, “Why can’t you tell your sister-in-law?”
“I’m afraid Sister-in-law will say I’m spending money recklessly and tell Mom,” Dai Shiyuan immediately answered.
She had spent the entire afternoon drafting her answer and rehearsing it alone many times, all for the sake of being able to respond smoothly at this moment.
Father Dai thought for one second, then agreed.
Dai Shiyuan hung up the phone and excitedly made a cheering gesture.
She put away her phone and opened the door. When she saw that gentle-as-water face outside, the brilliant smile on her face instantly froze, and even the corners of her mouth twitched twice.
In that second, Dai Shiyuan’s heartbeat nearly stopped.
She did not know when the female lead had started standing outside the door, and even less did she know exactly how much the female lead had heard.
If possible, she hoped the female lead had not heard a single word… no, not even a single character.
Seeing the shocked and dazed expression on Dai Shiyuan’s face, Shan Yaxin’s mood, tired from an entire day of work, instantly improved. She lightly curved her lips and asked gently, “Xiao Yuan, what do you need so much allowance for?”
Hearing this, the last thread of hope in Dai Shiyuan’s heart shattered.
