Seducing and Flirting with Boss O While Stockpiling in the Apocalypse (GL) - Chapter 13
Luo Sheng thought her eyes were playing tricks on her. She rubbed them and repeatedly locked and unlocked her phone screen three times before confirming that it wasn’t a glitch in her vision—Nan Shuwan really had sent that sentence.
Her expression was one of bewilderment. Whether out of anger or some other reason, a faint flush slowly bloomed on her clean cheeks, like cinnabar staining white paper, exceptionally noticeable.
Luo Sheng felt it was absurd. She didn’t understand why Nan Shuwan would say such a thing. This woman was truly reckless, saying whatever she pleased without any regard for the fact that Luo Sheng herself was in the group. She picked up her phone, preparing to reply, but hesitated when it came time to actually type.
Because the two in the group were chatting so enthusiastically—even reaching the stage of exchanging blessings—Luo Sheng couldn’t bear to watch. Yet, she felt it would be awkward to suddenly jump into that atmosphere with a righteous rebuttal. So, she tapped on Nan Shuwan’s profile picture, deciding to handle this through a private message.
But just as she sent the two words “You there?”, Luo Sheng froze. She saw a red exclamation mark.
Uh, she had almost forgotten that she had blocked Nan Shuwan a long time ago. Now, she fell into a period of silence.
A few minutes later, Luo Sheng took the initiative to add Nan Shuwan back.
Unexpectedly, Nan Shuwan accepted her friend request within seconds.
Luo Sheng thought for a moment, then went to the group chat, took a screenshot of the message containing the word “girlfriend,” sent it over, and attached a single question mark.
Nan Shuwan replied almost instantly: What’s wrong?
Luo Sheng: What do you mean by this… since when are we in that kind of relationship?
Nan Shuwan: I don’t mean anything. Which kind of relationship are you talking about? Isn’t a girl who is a friend a “girlfriend”? (Innocent Fox emoji)
Nan Shuwan: Besides, why did you set your room number to be the same as mine?
Well, that left Luo Sheng speechless.
She pursed her lips. Seeing the other side play the rogue and then turn around to question her, Luo Sheng—having been outmaneuvered—sat up straight in annoyance. But she had no way to deal with the woman. She tried to think of a reason for a long time but couldn’t come up with anything plausible. Finally, she sent a shrugging emoji and simply explained that she might have typed it wrong at the time, then said no more.
Seeing that Nan Shuwan didn’t reply again, she exited the private chat and went back to the group to silently change her room number back to 1501. Not that anyone likely cared. Luo Sheng tossed her phone onto the bedside table, closed her eyes, and went back to sleep.
However, her thoughts wouldn’t settle. Nan Shuwan truly lived up to her reputation as the company’s second-in-command. Luo Sheng had heard before that this Director, in order to persuade a client, would wander around their neighborhood every day and frequently send gifts tailored to their interests; eventually, she actually turned the client into a close friend.
Luo Sheng knew that in this industry, the most important thing was being thick-skinned. Now that these tactics were being used on her, she actually found herself admiring Nan Shuwan. The woman was resilient and adaptable; anyone else would likely have buckled under this kind of persistent soft-selling.
But right now, all of this was a waste of effort. The apocalypse was coming soon. If Nan Shuwan kept pestering her here, it would surely bring extra trouble. She had to get Nan Shuwan to leave as soon as possible.
Before drifting off, Luo Sheng thought: Tomorrow, I must be ten times colder to make her lose heart and retreat.
And so, over the next few days, Luo Sheng did exactly that.
The basic supplies were now mostly stockpiled, but some daily necessities still needed to be prepared. When she went out, she tried to choose early mornings or after sunset, because the heat during the noon period was so intense she couldn’t set foot outside.
But it was as if Nan Shuwan had installed a camera at her door as well. Every time Luo Sheng stepped out, Nan Shuwan followed closely behind, dressed beautifully with her hairstyle never repeating.
Day One.
“Hi, good morning! How about we go exercise together?” Nan Shuwan, with a high ponytail and wearing a midriff-baring sports outfit, greeted Luo Sheng with a smile.
Luo Sheng: “I don’t exercise.”
Day Two.
Nan Shuwan feigned grievance: “Oh, a water pipe burst in my place. Can I borrow yours to take a shower?”
Luo Sheng: “I have the phone number for a repairman.”
Day Three, Day Four. Luo Sheng remained the same.
…
Until today, when she wore a light blue dress, her hair tied low and draped over her left shoulder, accented with a light-colored ribbon. Her makeup was fresh and natural, making her look as vibrant as a college student who had just graduated.
Luo Sheng blinked, dazed for a few seconds. She felt completely unfamiliar with this version of Nan Shuwan. Usually, the woman she saw had a very assertive, mature aura; this style was indeed rare… As she passed her to get to the elevator, Luo Sheng couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.
But Luo Sheng quickly regained her composure and put back on her icy mask. No matter how enthusiastically Nan Shuwan greeted her, she acted as if she didn’t see her. For these past few days, Luo Sheng had consistently faced her with this attitude.
No expression, no words.
Nan Shuwan watched as Luo Sheng passed her door expressionlessly yet again. Grinding her teeth in frustration, she could only cross her arms behind Luo Sheng’s back, wrinkle her nose, and give a secret, soft huff.
During the first two days, she was truly infuriated. she wanted to viciously hurl the ginseng she’d bought right at the woman’s face! She had originally planned to give her some supplements to see if she could improve her attitude slightly, as Luo Sheng looked quite frail.
But such flattery yielded zero reward; the other side only doubled down on the coldness! Nan Shuwan was so angry that as soon as she got home, she started stabbing her fingers into a bag of rice she’d bought.
After venting with her version of “Iron Sand Palm,” she breathed deeply in front of the mirror, practicing her smile to cheer herself up: It’s okay, you can do it. You are the best person in this world. Go for it! Nan Xiaokui!
It must be said that Nan Shuwan’s adaptability was excellent. After a few days, she had gradually grown accustomed to it. So, she ignored the other’s indifference and followed her into the elevator with a grin.
Seeing Nan Shuwan enter, Luo Sheng’s expression became unnatural. She regretted her slow reaction time—she should have closed the elevator doors sooner.
She glanced at her and couldn’t help but ask, “Why… are you following me?”
Nan Shuwan: “I’m not following you. You didn’t buy this elevator. If I want to go downstairs, I obviously have to take this one.”
Luo Sheng knew she would argue her way out of it and was no match for her words, so she stopped replying and silently waited for the elevator to descend. When it reached the first floor, she walked out with quick steps.
Luo Sheng had bought hundreds of sets of underwear for changing and some daily toiletries. Regarding weapons, she had pondered for a long time and ultimately decided not to buy from a physical store, but ordered a batch online instead.
Now that the couriers had arrived, she trotted hurriedly to the community’s parcel pickup point, wanting to move the things up quickly.
When she reached her destination, the clerk wearing a cap glanced at Luo Sheng, asked for the last few digits of her phone number, and pointed to a pile of cardboard boxes in a small open-doored room next to them. “There, those are all yours.”
She knew there would be a lot, but she didn’t expect this many. Luo Sheng let out a weary sigh, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to move them out box by box.
The boxes were large; Luo Sheng had to spread her arms wide to lift them. However, before she could move them very far, Nan Shuwan arrived. She stood outside the door wearing a black sun-protective mask, tilted her head, and asked, “Need my help?”
Luo Sheng forced a box up to her elbow and stumbled out, not forgetting to be stubborn: “No.”
The first few boxes were fine; they were long watermelon knives. No matter how heavy, they were within Luo Sheng’s threshold. She had specifically parked her car nearby; she just needed to move them into the trunk.
But the subsequent boxes were truly heavy. Each contained dozens of solid iron baseball bats. Luo Sheng couldn’t even drag them. When she managed to lift one slightly, her arms went weak, and she nearly dropped it on her feet.
She was drenched in sweat and exhausted, wishing that the small dolly from last time hadn’t been taken away by the security guard. The clerk sitting nearby showed no intention of helping.
Luo Sheng squatted down to rest for a few minutes and decided to keep dragging. She finally dragged it to the side of the car, but she couldn’t lift it in no matter what.
Just as she was at her wit’s end, another pair of hands firmly supported the bottom of the cardboard box. With a sudden burst of strength, she and the other person finally managed to put the heavy object into the trunk together.
Luo Sheng turned her head and saw Nan Shuwan’s eyes—the only part of her face visible above the mask—overflowing with mirth.
Now she felt truly embarrassed. After repeatedly rejecting the other’s kindness, she ultimately needed Nan Shuwan’s help to secure the items.
Thinking of her intentional coldness over these days, Luo Sheng suddenly wondered if she was being a bit excessive. After all, Nan Shuwan hadn’t actually done anything wrong, nor had she wronged her.
In the final analysis, the woman was just trying to get her to come back to help with a project. Why make it so heartless?
Thinking this, Luo Sheng’s expression softened with apology. She said sincerely to Nan Shuwan, “Thank you.”
Since the ice was broken, she didn’t reject her for the remaining few boxes. The two worked together to lift them, and within a few minutes, everything was stuffed into the trunk.
Although the trunk of Luo Sheng’s car was large, it couldn’t handle so many large boxes at once. She tried several times but couldn’t close the lid, so she drove to the underground garage with the trunk open.
When they got down there, Luo Sheng actually hesitated about whether to move them up. She was wearing the space ring; with a single thought, she could put all these things into the villa storage without any effort.
But Nan Shuwan was here, and there were cameras. It would be improper if a box vanished into thin air. So, Luo Sheng decided to move a few boxes upstairs first.
Nan Shuwan was exceptionally well-behaved this time, not prying about what she had bought. she just silently helped move the boxes to the ground. Luo Sheng felt even more ashamed.
Amidst the silence, an accident suddenly occurred. The bottom of one cardboard box was not very secure and had split open. The contents were, after all, knives. As Nan Shuwan went to lift it, her palm was accidentally sliced by a protruding blade. She grimaced in pain as a significant amount of blood began to flow.
Luo Sheng immediately dropped what she was holding, anxiously supported Nan Shuwan’s hand to check the wound. The bright red blood flowed down her wrist, and a few drops accidentally fell onto Luo Sheng’s emerald green ring.
In the dim light of the garage, the ring suddenly flickered a few times and emitted an eerie green light.
