Seducing and Flirting with Boss O While Stockpiling in the Apocalypse (GL) - Chapter 55
The glass canopy on the ceiling was not strong enough. The swarm of birds used their sharp beaks and heads to strike it, flapping their wings as they dove down in turns. Before long, the glass was smeared with a grisly mess of flesh and feathers mixed with blood.
They didn’t care that two of their own had already been killed in the impact; the remaining birds continued the cycle, acting like a dark tidal wave that wouldn’t stop until the glass was shattered.
Luo Sheng watched the scene, her heart leaping into her throat, her face turning as white as paper. She reacted quickly, standing up on the bed frame, but she was still a distance from the canopy. Fortunately, the mezzanine wasn’t high; she hurriedly moved a stool and stood on it, reaching out until she could touch the glass.
The sound of the impacts felt like stones being hurled at her heart. The thin layer of snow on the glass had already been rubbed away by the birds’ bodies, leaving it a filthy mess. Ignoring everything else, Luo Sheng tore off her coat and frantically covered the glass with it.
Cold sweat drenched her back as she took tape from her space to secure the coat firmly, but she knew this wouldn’t hold for long—she could already hear the glass cracking. Without a second thought, she didn’t linger; she scrambled down and began to shout at the top of her lungs.
The awakened group was completely dazed. Nan Chu let out a yawn, looking like she had only just fallen asleep, and grumbled irritably, “Gosh, Luo Sheng, what are you howling for in the middle of the night?!”
Luo Sheng didn’t answer. Instead, she pulled out bulletproof vests, arm guards, and various weapons from her space, tossing them in front of the group. “Quick! Put them on!”
Seeing her so frantic, Nan Shuwan guessed something serious must have happened. She was the first to grab the gear and put it on, urging the others to move faster.
The others were confused but obediently took up their weapons. Once they were geared up, Su Rong couldn’t help but ask, “So, what exactly is going on?”
Before the words had even settled, Luo Xiaoli, holding an iron rod, pointed ahead and shrieked, “Watch your back!”
Luo Sheng heard the sound of flapping wings and spun around just as several black, mutated birds dove toward her. She ducked instinctively, pulling her mother down with her to avoid the strike.
Yang Suitong and Qiao Bai swung their knives wildly in a panic, manageing to wound a few birds that fell to the floor, spilling green blood. Liu Lin and Nan Chu held shields over their heads, dodging and weaving as they were forced into a corner.
The coat covering the glass canopy had already fallen, and the birds were now streaming in through the shattered glass. Their numbers grew rapidly, circling the living room with ear-piercing shrieks that made everyone’s heads spin.
Nan Shuwan accidentally got separated and was pushed toward the door. With her back against the steel door, she was nearly bitten by a black bird. For some reason, a large portion of the swarm suddenly turned to attack her. Holding her iron rod, she struggled to keep up; her vision was blurred by a flurry of feathers that looked like falling ash.
The incessant, piercing shrieks felt like a psychological attack. Seeing a mass of birds diving toward her head, Nan Shuwan fell onto the sofa in a panic. Her elbow slammed hard against the sharp corner of the table. A crisp crack of bone echoed, and she let out a muffled groan of agony, her face turning deathly pale in an instant.
Across the room, Nan Chu saw Nan Shuwan about to be swarmed while she was defending herself. She shouted frantically, “Watch out above you!”
Luo Sheng was equally desperate. She immediately pushed her mother toward Nan Chu for protection and threw herself over Nan Shuwan. In the heat of the moment, she raised her shield just in time to block the diving birds; the sound of talons scratching against the metal was enough to make anyone’s skin crawl.
Luo Sheng gripped Nan Shuwan’s waist tightly and rolled them both onto the floor. They quickly hid under the table. With the tablecloth partially shielding them, the birds couldn’t dive that low and were forced to turn their attacks on the others.
Nan Shuwan bit her lip, her elbow already a dark shade of purple and bruised; the bone felt slightly out of place. Cold sweat broke out on her forehead from the pain. Luo Sheng held her with a mix of heartache and tenderness, whispering, “Are you okay?”
“No, it hurts a lot,” Nan Shuwan admitted honestly, sucking in a breath of cold air. Her voice carried a hint of a sob as she struggled to endure the pain. She rested her chin slightly on Luo Sheng’s shoulder, looking miserable. “What do we do now?”
Luo Sheng patted her back, trying to comfort her. “Stay here, don’t come out. I’ll tell you when it’s safe.”
After Nan Shuwan nodded, Luo Sheng immediately crawled out from under the table. She heard Qiao Bai’s trembling voice shouting through gritted teeth, “Sister Luo, are we finished? How… how do we get these things out?!”
“Just make sure no one gets bitten!” Luo Sheng swung her knife, pulling alcohol and gasoline from her space and spraying it into the air. She shouted to Su Rong and Liu Lin, “Close the windows, now!”
Nan Chu looked incredulous. “No way, this trick again?!”
Upon receiving the order, Su Rong and Liu Lin rushed to lock the windows. The birds’ claws occasionally grazed their clothes and hair, and their beaks pecked incessantly, but fortunately, everyone had shields to block them. Nan Chu also quickly slammed the kitchen door shut.
Seeing that everyone was ready, Luo Sheng hurriedly pulled Nan Shuwan from under the table. But the woman couldn’t even lift her arm; she was swaying and pale with pain, forced to rely entirely on Luo Sheng’s movements.
Luo Sheng didn’t hesitate. She immediately scooped Nan Shuwan up in a bridal carry, kicked the front door open, and issued the command to the group: “Everyone, out!”
Everyone bolted. Nan Chu and Liu Lin protected Luo Xiaoli as they rushed out, with the others right behind them. Just as she reached the doorway, Qiao Bai turned and whacked a trailing black bird with her rod.
As the swarm tried to follow them out the door, Luo Sheng flicked a lighter into the air and kicked the door shut with all her might. With her three points of Speed, Luo Sheng moved like the wind, carrying Nan Shuwan down to the twelfth floor in an instant.
She used her mind to once again materialize the yacht from the golden ring on her wrist. The moment everyone boarded, an explosion rocked the thirteenth floor. The air was filled with the stench of charred bird meat as the mutated birds trapped inside were consumed by the flames, unable to follow.
By the time the ordeal was over, it was past three in the morning.
Luo Sheng gently sat Nan Shuwan down on the sofa. The woman was still pale and fragile, her eyes closed in a silent battle with the pain. Luo Sheng looked at her arm with heartache; it was likely dislocated, or worse, fractured.
Nan Chu approached with worry, though her words were less than gentle. “What is wrong with you? Last time you almost got bitten by a zombie, and now you break your arm. If something really happened to you, what would I…”
She trailed off, letting out a heavy sigh instead. Because of their parents’ death, she had always held a grudge against Nan Shuwan for leaving.
But at its core, Nan Chu was simply afraid of Nan Shuwan getting hurt.
No matter what, Nan Shuwan was her sister—her only remaining relative in this world. How could she not be afraid? In an apocalypse filled with hidden dangers, Nan Chu didn’t want to see her injured, yet she also felt a sense of self-blame, hating that she wasn’t strong enough to protect her.
Nan Shuwan tilted her head back slightly, her lips bloodless. Her messy hair clung to her pale neck, and her eyes were moist. Her glamorous face, now marked by pain, looked like a wilted flower broken by the rain. Yet she still curled her lips, teasing intentionally, “What? If you’re worried about me, just say it. No need to beat around the bush…”
Nan Chu huffed, momentarily speechless. Even now, this woman was still trying to act tough.
Luo Sheng had already retrieved a medical kit from the space. She used a splint to carefully bind Nan Shuwan’s fractured arm, her movements as gentle as if she were handling fragile porcelain. As she bandaged, she asked softly, “Does it hurt?”
“It hurts… be gentler.” Nan Shuwan, who had just been teasing Nan Chu, immediately changed her tone. her voice was soft, “nuo-nuo,” and incredibly clingy, making one’s heart melt.
Luo Sheng immediately softened her movements even further, doing exactly as the other said. Once the bandaging was finished, she took out a box of anti-inflammatory medicine and told Nan Shuwan to take it quickly.
The yacht was spacious, and the others found places to sit, gasping for air as they tried to process what had happened.
Luo Sheng walked to the control screen and saw the upgrade button. She pressed it, and the progress bar moved rapidly. Within a minute, the system announcement rang out: Congratulations, the Materialized Yacht has been successfully upgraded!

Luo Sheng sat back in the chair with a sense of security, noticing a visible protective shield appear around the exterior of the yacht, along with offensive weapons mounted on top.
She used her mind to pilot the yacht slowly forward. It was still dark outside. Although the bow had no lights, the display screen inside clearly showed the path ahead—it evidently had a night-vision function.
Su Rong tiredly rubbed her head. Seeing this, Feng Xi reached out to massage her sore shoulders before looking toward Luo Sheng. After hesitating, she finally couldn’t help but ask, “Xiao Luo, where can we go now?”
Luo Sheng closed her eyes halfway, feeling a wave of exhaustion. They truly had nowhere left to go. Their new residence was destroyed, and the world outside was a gauntlet of zombies and mutated animals. There was no hiding.
At this thought, Luo Sheng slowly opened her eyes. With a look of determination, she turned to the group and said firmly, “Let’s go, everyone. It’s time to go to the Shelter.”
