Seducing and Flirting with Boss O While Stockpiling in the Apocalypse (GL) - Chapter 57
Lin Fu acted as if it were nothing. Once she realized who was standing next to Luo Sheng, her eyes narrowed, and she let out another exclamation of surprise. “Director Nan… I didn’t expect you to be here as well.”
Nan Shuwan searched her memory but couldn’t place the face. She had met countless people, and there were plenty she didn’t recognize—heck, she had even struggled to place Luo Sheng at first. However, judging by the woman’s tone, she was likely a former employee from the company. Noticing the grim look on Luo Sheng’s face and sensing this wasn’t a simple encounter, Nan Shuwan remained silent.
It wasn’t until Luo Sheng’s lips curled into a faint smirk and she spoke that the tension truly spiked. “Indeed, Lin Fu. Long time no see.”
Nan Shuwan’s heart skipped a beat. When Luo Sheng had confessed about the space, she had mentioned a rebirth, though she hadn’t gone into the specific details or the chain of events. Still, Nan Shuwan clearly remembered one key name—Lin Fu.
In the previous life, Luo Sheng’s death was linked to this person. Luo Sheng had been reluctant to say much, offering only a few brief sentences; she hadn’t mentioned it to anyone else, not even her mother.
Such a bizarre story wasn’t easy to explain in a few words, but more importantly, Luo Sheng likely didn’t want to relive those dark memories.
At this point, Nan Shuwan understood completely: this group wasn’t a rescue team at all. They were likely looters taking advantage of the chaos.
The initial shock in Luo Sheng’s heart had passed, and her expression returned to normal. In fact, she found it somewhat ironic. In this life, she had been incredibly cautious, severing all ties with this woman since the moment of her rebirth.
And yet, after everything, fate had brought her face-to-face with her past enemy anyway. Perhaps the universe insisted she settle these old scores before she could truly consider this life a fresh start.
She sat down leisurely, acting as if nothing was wrong. The moment she faced Lin Fu again, she actually felt a sense of lightness. It was as if the very thing she had been wary of and fearing had finally arrived, like a heavy stone finally hitting the ground.
Qiao Bai, still seemingly oblivious to the situation, looked at Luo Sheng with a naive smile. “Sister Luo, I can’t believe you ran into an old acquaintance! That’s wonderful!”
The words were immediately met with a sharp knock on the head from Nan Chu, who was standing nearby. Nan Chu forced a smile as she grabbed Qiao Bai’s arm, slowly pulling her back toward Luo Sheng. Only when they were safely in place did she whisper, “Shut it. These people aren’t rescue workers.”
Qiao Bai rubbed her head and was about to protest until she heard the whisper. Her eyes went wide, she slapped a hand over her mouth, and immediately gripped Yang Suitong’s hand.
“Tsk, tsk. Since old friends are reuniting, surely there should be some kind of greeting gift.” Tao Zhihe, who had been standing in the back, finally stepped forward. Seeing that the act was up, she figured she might as well save herself the trouble of pretending.
She slowly removed her mask and hat, stretching her limbs on the spot before smiling and curling her fingers toward them. “So, where are the supplies? Hand them over.”
The sheer shamelessness of the demand made everyone behind Luo Sheng exchange looks. Su Rong, in particular, tightened her grip on the weapon hidden beneath the sofa, ready to fight at a moment’s notice.
On the other side, Tao Zhihe’s crew was also poised to strike. The atmosphere became a powder keg, everyone waiting for a single spark to set off the explosion.
After a moment of silence, Luo Sheng let out a yawn and leaned back. She pointed to the trash on the table and a few leftover boxes of self-heating rice. “There. That’s all of it. Take it if you want it.”
“You’re lying!” Lin Fu’s voice suddenly rose, her tone turning sharp. “There’s no way this many of you have survived this long on just that. How is that possible?”
Luo Sheng sneered. “Believe what you want. If you don’t believe me, feel free to search.”
Tao Zhihe popped a hard candy into her mouth, her expression clearly skeptical. However, the empty room was visible at a single glance, and the group didn’t even have any proper backpacks. Where could they be hiding supplies?
She frowned, finding it bizarre. These people looked far too healthy compared to her crew, who lived meal-to-meal. The contrast was stark, yet she couldn’t see any evidence of a hoard. It was truly strange.
Tao Zhihe’s gaze swept over the group, eventually landing on Nan Shuwan. Interest flickered in her eyes. It was rare to find a beauty so perfectly to her taste in the apocalypse. It might be nice to tie her up and keep her around as a “distraction,” she thought; it had been quite a while since she had enjoyed such pleasures…
Pretending she was going to search the bedroom, she leaned in and whispered to Lin Fu, “Get ready to move,” before circling back to Luo Sheng.
The two locked eyes, and a signal was passed to the crew behind her. Tao Zhihe suddenly swung her rod toward Luo Sheng’s head, but Luo Sheng was prepared; she leaned to the side and dodged it easily.
Luo Sheng didn’t hesitate. Before the second swing could land, she grabbed a leftover rice box and hurled it at the group as a distraction. Leftover rice and soup flew everywhere, and in the chaos, she reached for the long knife hidden under the sofa.
Tao Zhihe’s underlings swarmed forward, and the rest of Luo Sheng’s group joined the fray.
Sofas were kicked over, and the table was used as a shield. Nan Chu picked up a stool and slammed it into an attacker’s face; the person spat blood and teeth, collapsing in pain.
Qiao Bai and Yang Suitong fought back-to-back, making it difficult for anyone to sneak up on them. They swung their iron rods wildly without any particular technique, yet effectively.
Liu Lin was kicked and fell flat on her face. As a blade swung toward her, Luo Xiaoli blocked it with a shield and countered by whacking the attacker with a rod.
Nan Shuwan, having just knocked over a short-haired woman, saw the move and gave Luo Xiaoli a thumbs-up. “Way to go, Auntie!”
Luo Xiaoli postured proudly. “Ha! These old bones are still pretty sturdy!”
Tao Zhihe and Lin Fu doubled up on Luo Sheng. Fortunately, Luo Sheng’s physique had been enhanced by the space; when she swung her iron rod with full force, the two were unable to withstand it. Tao Zhihe took a blow to the back that brought tears to her eyes instantly and left a metallic taste of blood in her mouth.
Wounded, Tao Zhihe was shocked. She was tall, muscular, and a former boxing coach; ordinary people couldn’t beat her. She usually made short work of the residents she looted—in fact, she rarely had to lift a finger herself.
But this Luo Sheng looked pale and thin, almost fragile. Why was she so strong? It was unbelievable.
Seeing Tao Zhihe pinned to the floor and Lin Fu struggling to keep up, Luo Sheng took advantage of a split-second distraction to deliver a stinging slap to Lin Fu’s face. It left her cheek red, swollen, and marked with finger indentations.
Luo Sheng’s group was gaining the upper hand. Just as they thought they were about to subdue the looters, Tao Zhihe suddenly rushed to the side. She wasn’t holding a rod; instead, she pulled out a handgun and pressed it firmly against Luo Xiaoli’s head. “Everyone, freeze!”
At the sound of Tao Zhihe’s shout, several clangs followed immediately. Luo Sheng dropped her weapons, raised her hands, and dropped to her knees on the sofa in a gesture of surrender. She was nothing if not pragmatic.
“Sister, let’s talk this out. Don’t be impulsive.”
“Augh, is my jaw crooked?” Tao Zhihe groaned, looking into a small mirror. Behind her, Lin Fu, her face swollen, was massaging Tao Zhihe’s shoulders while speaking fawningly. “Sister Tao, it’s fine. You have a good foundation; it’ll heal in no time!”
Meanwhile, Luo Sheng’s group had been tied up and were now crouching on the floor, each with a knife held to their neck by Tao Zhihe’s underlings.
Nan Chu looked up and saw the two “pig-headed” faces across from her. She nearly burst out laughing until Nan Shuwan gave her a sharp, warning look. “I can’t believe you can laugh at a time like this…” she whispered.
“Luo Sheng, look at you. Had to play tricks, didn’t you?” Lin Fu said crossly. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll get revenge on you?”
With Tao Zhihe holding a gun, no one dared to resist. She had managed to scavenge the pistol from the body of a government official and had kept it for self-defense. It only had two bullets—useless and wasteful against zombies.
So she carried it to intimidate the living, which worked perfectly. With the gun pointed at Luo Xiaoli, Luo Sheng didn’t dare resist.
“Revenge? Why would you want revenge on me?” Luo Sheng’s eyes were full of confusion, as if she truly didn’t understand. “We have no grievances. We were colleagues for a long time; there should be some friendship there. Why talk about revenge?”
Lin Fu was momentarily speechless. Thinking about it, it was true. Ever since Luo Sheng had resigned, she had felt a strange, uncontrollable urge to target her, but they hadn’t actually had any major conflicts. Why did she want revenge?
Lin Fu couldn’t figure it out, but it still felt wrong. She voiced the question that had been on her mind: “Then tell me, why did you suddenly resign, move, and buy… so much stuff at the supermarket? You even tricked your uncle and the others here for a ‘wedding’ at a hotel. Did you know something beforehand…?”
“Know something? What could I have known?” Luo Sheng interrupted, her gaze suddenly sharp, unafraid to lock eyes with her. “What does it matter to you what I buy? As for my uncle and the others, they were just unlucky to be caught in the rain. I couldn’t get them out, and it breaks my heart.”
“As for the wedding, when did I ever say it was a trick? Lin Fu, aren’t you sticking your nose in too far? You seem to know everything about my life. Have you been investigating me every day?”
Lin Fu’s eyelid flickered, and she immediately denied it. “Stop talking nonsense! Why would I investigate you? Don’t change the subject. If it wasn’t a fake wedding, are you saying you and Director Nan… Nan Shuwan… are a real couple?”
Luo Sheng chuckled. “Yes. What of it? To be honest, Wanwan and I developed feelings back at the company. I resigned and moved just so I wouldn’t have to work anymore; I can just be the Director’s pampered little wife at home. What, do you have a problem with that too?”
Luo Sheng lied with practiced ease. Nan Shuwan, crouching nearby, was stunned. She immediately lowered her head to hide the curl of her lips, but her body began to shake with silent tremors.
Honestly, she was unable to stop herself from laughing out loud.
