The Woman I Once Loved Rejected Me—Now She Says She Wants To Fuck Me? (Lily ABO) - Chapter 3
[We’ve taken off.]
Yan Qiuheng received the message just as she finished signing the final document. She picked up her phone and replied with a “Got it” sticker.
After giving her secretary a few instructions, she grabbed her car keys and left the office.
“My God, is President Yan leaving work early?” Shortly after she departed, several employees poked their heads out from behind their workstations, their faces filled with astonishment.
“Even the queen of overtime has a day like this? Something’s definitely going on! Is she going to see her girlfriend?” The second gossip enthusiast turned toward the secretary who had just emerged.
The secretary shrugged, indicating that she knew nothing.
Inside her car, Yan Qiuheng checked the time on her phone. There was still an hour and a half before the flight landed.
Yes, arriving early to pick up Ms. Qu was absolutely necessary.
As she waited, Yan Qiuheng reflected that Ms. Qu had been away for so long, yet her first meal after returning to the country would not be with her own daughter. It made Yan Qiuheng feel as though she had fallen out of favor.
She also clearly remembered that Ms. Qu had not originally planned to return immediately after completing her experiment. She had intended to stay there with several close friends for a while, claiming that no one would disturb them and that she wanted to enjoy a carefree life for a few days.
But she had suddenly decided to return.
Yan Qiuheng knew the reason. Ms. Qu had recently made a new friend—someone she described as nothing short of a bosom friend. That friend had returned to the country several days ago, prompting Ms. Qu to change her plans.
After learning that Ms. Qu would also be returning, her friend had enthusiastically invited her to dinner. When Yan Qiuheng heard about everything, she cautiously sent Ms. Qu a message despite feeling speechless.
[You haven’t fallen in love, have you?]
It was not unreasonable for Yan Qiuheng to wonder. Ms. Qu had been divorced from her father for nearly five years. It would be perfectly natural if she met someone she liked.
[Could you please fill your head with something more appropriate?]
[She’s a young woman!]
A young woman?
Yan Qiuheng had not expected that. Ms. Qu had never been particularly fond of young people. Just how outstanding was this woman?
Yan Qiuheng shook her head and smiled.
She suddenly became rather curious about this friend.
Her phone rang. It was Ms. Qu.
“Have you landed? I’m in the parking lot by Gate Three—”
She was interrupted before she could finish.
“My dear daughter, I’m so sorry. My friend said she came to pick me up, so you can go home first.”
Although Ms. Qu claimed to be sorry, Yan Qiuheng could not detect the slightest trace of guilt in her voice.
She was used to it. She had long since grown accustomed to this.
Opening the car door, she spoke into her phone. “Fine, fine. You two can go to dinner. I’ll take your luggage home.”
“We’re at Gate Five. Don’t go to the wrong one.”
Before the call ended, Yan Qiuheng heard a soft laugh.
It belonged to a young woman.
Was that Ms. Qu’s friend? She sounded like an exceptionally gentle woman.
As if bewitched, that soft laugh continued circling inside her mind.
“Teacher Qu, you and your daughter have such a wonderful relationship.” After overhearing their conversation, Sang Ning could not suppress her laughter.
The mother and daughter interacted more like best friends. It was rather interesting.
“Unfilial daughter, that unfilial daughter! When I mentioned you to her before, she asked whether I was dating you. Tell me, what on earth fills her head all day?”
Seeing Qu Manyan’s expression only deepened Sang Ning’s smile.
It appeared Teacher Qu’s daughter had quite an imagination. Their age difference was more than enough for them to be mother and daughter, yet the young woman had actually suspected her mother of having a “mother-daughter” romance.
What an open-minded young woman.
After they chatted for a while longer, Qu Manyan waved toward someone ahead of them, which happened to be in the direction behind Sang Ning.
Sang Ning turned around, preparing to greet the other person, only to freeze when she saw that face.
What did it feel like to have all the blood in your body suddenly flow backward?
Sang Ning could answer that question.
It was how she felt at the moment she reunited with Yan Qiuheng.
None of the words she had prepared came out. She watched Qu Manyan approach and hand her suitcase to Yan Qiuheng. The two of them continued talking, but Sang Ning could no longer hear anything.
She remained rigid until Qu Manyan patted her, finally jolting her back to her senses.
She met Qu Manyan’s worried eyes.
“What’s wrong, Ningning? You suddenly went completely still. Are you feeling unwell?”
“I’m—I’m fine.” Sang Ning grabbed Qu Manyan’s arm to steady herself.
This had truly become a serious problem.
After leaving the country all those years ago, Sang Ning had expended tremendous effort to escape the vortex created by the two Miss Yans.
Throughout the years, she had pretended Yan Qiuheng was dead. Only then had she felt herself gradually beginning to let go.
Yet now, the person she had once loved obsessively, pursued relentlessly, and bitterly resented—the person who had occupied such an enormous part of the first twenty years of her life—had appeared before her without warning.
“I just suddenly felt a little unwell. Teacher Qu, let’s hurry and go eat.”
Sang Ning quickly regained her composure. Seeing that the luggage had already been handed to Yan Qiuheng, she smiled at Qu Manyan and linked arms with her.
Qu Manyan had been somewhat frightened by her reaction. Worried about Sang Ning’s health, she hurriedly told her daughter, “You should go home first,” before pulling Sang Ning away.
Yan Qiuheng watched the two women walk into the distance, chatting happily. Her hand tightened around the handle of the suitcase.
Sang Ning.
Sang Ning.
It really was her.
……
After treating Qu Manyan to a welcome-home dinner, Sang Ning drove her home.
She stared at the residential complex before her in silence, attempting to search through her memories of Yan Qiuheng. There was pitifully little information concerning Yan Qiuheng’s mother.
Sang Ning had occasionally heard from her parents that Mr. and Mrs. Yan did not have a good relationship, but she had never met Mrs. Yan herself.
She never imagined that, so many years later, she would become close friends with the woman who had once been Mrs. Yan despite their considerable age difference.
What kind of fate was this?
Sang Ning gave her reflection in the car window a deliberately forced smile. As she started the car, she made a call.
“Hello. How have you been feeling lately? Are you adjusting after returning to the country?”
“Everything’s been fine. It’s just Teacher Qu…”
“Teacher Qu? What happened to her?” The voice on the other end sounded confused.
“I’m a little speechless, Auntie. I knew I probably couldn’t return without eventually running into one of my former high school classmates, but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. Teacher Qu… Yan Qiuheng is her daughter.”
To stay with Yan Qiuheng back then, Sang Ning had not attended high school in Haicheng. She had followed Yan Qiuheng to the neighboring city of Ninghai.
When Sang Ning returned to the country this time, she had chosen to settle permanently in Haicheng because she did not want her surroundings to trigger painful memories.
She had not left behind a single pleasant memory in Ninghai.
The person on the other end of the call also fell silent.
“I’m feeling absolutely fantastic right now,” Sang Ning said. “So fantastic that I’m about to lose my mind.”
Demons from the past were not so easily exorcised.
Before bed, Sang Ning enjoyed a comfortable soak in the bath, then sprayed a large amount of artificially produced bergamot pheromones over her bed.
Whenever she suffered from insomnia, she would envelop herself in this artificial scent. Although artificial pheromones functioned much like perfume and were extremely expensive, bergamot was the only scent that made her feel safe.
Before going to bed with any alpha, Sang Ning always required her partner to use a pheromone blocker. She could not tolerate the pheromones of any alpha.
She only liked this artificial bergamot scent. People even frequently mistook it for Sang Ning’s natural pheromones.
Qi Nian had once wanted to find several alphas with bergamot-scented pheromones for Sang Ning to meet, but Sang Ning refused.
She had said with a smile, “Let’s leave that to fate. If I ever meet an alpha with that scent, I’m sure I’ll like her.”
Sang Ning feared she would be unable to sleep tonight, so she used more than usual.
Surrounded by the pheromones, she gradually drifted off to sleep.
The moment Qu Manyan entered her home, she saw her daughter sitting on the sofa.
She asked thoughtfully, “Do you know my friend?”
Yan Qiuheng had reacted very strangely upon seeing Sang Ning. Qu Manyan understood her daughter well enough to notice.
“I don’t.” Yan Qiuheng shook her head.
Qu Manyan knew about what had happened to Sang Ning all those years ago. She simply did not know the Omega’s identity.
Yan Qiuheng chose to conceal it because she felt it would be better not to let Qu Manyan know yet.
After the incident, Yan Qiuheng’s aunt had told Qu Manyan what happened. Qu Manyan immediately flew back to the country and took her daughter to Haicheng.
Yan Qiuheng had been sixteen at the time, but she had rarely seen Qu Manyan. They would meet only two or three times a year at certain important events.
When Yan Qiuheng was a child, every time she saw the beautiful woman who was supposedly her mother, Qu Manyan’s face was eternally cold, keeping everyone at a distance.
As Yan Qiuheng grew older, she simply began acting as though she did not have a mother.
When Qu Manyan took her away, Yan Qiuheng’s lips remained tightly pressed together. She did not know what the woman intended to do.
Qu Manyan had looked both furious and incredulous.
Yan Qiuheng raised her head to look at her.
“Why didn’t you save that Omega? You clearly could have saved her. She was assaulted by an alpha, forcibly marked… A video was taken and posted online. Do you have any idea how much damage that can do to an Omega?”
“But what did that have to do with me? I wasn’t the one who drugged her. Why should I have saved her?”
After uttering those words, Yan Qiuheng felt as though Qu Manyan were staring at a demon.
“As an alpha, you have an obligation to protect Omegas. Besides, wasn’t she your classmate?” Qu Manyan’s voice trembled.
Her child—how was she any different from a cold-blooded monster now?
Yan Qiuheng remained silent.
Qu Manyan suddenly pulled her into an embrace. Although Yan Qiuheng was an alpha, she was still slightly shorter than Qu Manyan.
The woman suddenly broke down sobbing, leaving Yan Qiuheng at a loss.
Scalding tears landed on her shoulder. Qu Manyan’s voice was so choked with emotion that she could barely speak.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry… I never should have left you there. I’m sorry, baby. I’m sorry. This is all my fault. The Yan family… they’re demons who devour people…”
From that point onward, Yan Qiuheng remained with Qu Manyan in Haicheng. She stopped living with her father and rarely interacted with the elders of the Yan family.
Qu Manyan had always wanted to find Sang Ning, but she had never discovered the slightest trace of her.
After all these twists and turns, Qu Manyan had unknowingly become friends with the very Omega she had wanted to compensate all those years ago.
Yan Qiuheng knew perfectly well that if she told Qu Manyan now that Sang Ning was the Omega who had been assaulted back then, everything would descend into chaos.
“I think I may have fallen in love with your friend at first sight.”
She let herself fall backward, collapsing against the sofa as though all her strength had deserted her. Then she turned and looked at Qu Manyan with complete sincerity.
Life continued as usual, except that Yan Qiuheng made time to attend several of Sang Ning’s lectures.
She wanted to apologize to Sang Ning in person, but Sang Ning ignored her.
Yan Qiuheng continued making her presence known at carefully measured intervals—not frequently enough to become unbearable, but often enough that Sang Ning would not forget her.
Sang Ning was vastly different from the person in Yan Qiuheng’s memories.
As a child, Sang Ning had been thin and petite. Despite being one year older than Yan Qiuheng, she had loved trailing behind her and calling her Sister Qiuheng.
The Sang Ning of today would curse at her and sternly ask, “Do you have nothing better to do these days, Miss Yan?”
Yan Qiuheng realized once again that Sang Ning was utterly sick of her.
Author’s Note:
This story felt incredibly exciting and passionate when I imagined it. Maybe it’s because I came up with the idea so long ago, but actually writing it is exhausting.
The entire time I’m writing, I keep thinking: What kind of shit is this?
P.S. This chapter was a flashback. The next chapter returns to the normal timeline.
