Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 43
“Sister, someone’s coming.”
Ruan Jiyan whispered, her voice husky, yet sweet and soft.
Her legs were still a little weak. Although Ruan Jiyan warned her, she held onto Fu Qingyun’s neck without letting go. A few pedestrians with children saw the two of them, immediately covered their children’s eyes, and hurried past as if they hadn’t seen anything.
“Sister, this is all your fault.”
“Hmm?”
Fu Qingyun looked at Ruan Jiyan’s arm draped over her neck, and the little pervert who had already slipped her hand behind her back, constantly stroking her skin. She chuckled, “And you have the nerve to blame me.”
Fu Qingyun acted like a gentleman, holding up the parasol, and then took Ruan Jiyan’s hand to walk forward. As she entered the park, Fu Qingyun casually picked up a map. She looked at the closest ride, which was the pendulum swing.
She had witnessed the power of the pendulum swing before coming here, so she turned to ask Ruan Jiyan: “Ruan Bao, do you want to ride the pendulum swing?”
If Ruan Jiyan wanted to ride it, she would sacrifice her old life to accompany her.
“That’s not fun, and it’s too dangerous. I’m afraid of falling off.”
Ruan Jiyan was extremely cautious about her life now. She swore not to do any extreme sports, but roller coasters at the amusement park were fine.
Seeing Fu Qingyun’s face turn slightly pale, Ruan Jiyan kept her thoughts to herself.
“Sister, let’s move on.”
As they approached the pendulum swing, Fu Qingyun heard continuous screams, loud wails that shook the heavens. Ruan Jiyan saw this and completely abandoned all thoughts of riding it. She didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of Fu Qingyun.
In her previous life, Fu Qingyun had occasionally accompanied friends to amusement parks during the holidays. She always just sat down, bought an iced drink, and watched, occasionally recording their embarrassing moments. For example, screaming hysterically on a roller coaster or throwing up non-stop after getting off the pirate ship. Fu Qingyun still kept those “ugly photos” on her phone.
“Sister, do you want to ride the pirate ship?”
“The pirate ship?”
To be honest, the pirate ship was the hidden killer among these rides. Although it didn’t look as threatening, and in the eyes of the uninitiated, it wasn’t as scary as the pendulum swing or the roller coaster, anyone who had actually ridden it knew the terror of the feeling of weightlessness.
“This one…”
Fu Qingyun remembered her friend throwing up her entire lunch after getting off the boat. It was truly terrifying.
“How about we ride the roller coaster, Ruan Bao?”
“Let’s save the roller coaster for later. Let’s ride this pirate ship first. Look how happy those people on the boat are laughing.”
Fu Qingyun followed Ruan Jiyan’s gaze. How were they happy? They were clearly so scared that their facial features were distorted.
“Sister, you said you brought me here to have fun. You can’t let me go up alone.”
Ruan Jiyan pouted at Fu Qingyun, swinging her hand and whining: “Sister, can you really bear to let me go up by myself?”
“Fine.”
Fu Qingyun nodded resolutely, as if going to her death, then pulled Ruan Jiyan’s hand to join the queue.
The moment she sat on the boat, Fu Qingyun’s heart started trembling inexplicably. Fortunately, Ruan Jiyan grabbed her hand in time, which made Fu Qingyun feel more at ease.
“Sister, don’t be afraid.”
Looking at Ruan Jiyan’s smiling eyes, Fu Qingyun nodded resignedly, then forced a smile.
And then she couldn’t smile anymore.
A strong sense of weightlessness invaded Ruan Jiyan’s limbs. She tightly gripped Fu Qingyun’s hand. The memory of falling from the tall building that day, of dying after dropping from hundreds of meters up, flashed through her mind.
The familiar sensation struck again, immediately tossing her high into the air.
Ruan Jiyan gritted her teeth. She clenched Fu Qingyun’s hand, staring straight ahead, smiling silently. A faint smile spread across her pale face.
After getting off the pirate ship, Fu Qingyun felt her soul had flown up to the sky along with the swaying boat.
Ruan Jiyan, on the other hand, showed no discomfort. Fu Qingyun looked at her eyes, which seemed to suggest she wanted to ride it again. Her legs were weak. She quickly pulled Ruan Jiyan and walked away without looking back, unaware that the person behind her was smiling when she couldn’t see it.
“Sister, are you feeling better?”
Ruan Jiyan handed her the mineral water she had just drunk. This was a silent possession. She wanted Fu Qingyun to have an undeniable connection with her at all times, which made her feel safe.
“It’s just a pirate ship. I’m fine. I’m completely fine.”
Seeing Fu Qingyun’s pale lips and complexion, Ruan Jiyan immediately knew the other person was just trying to act tough. She was suffering for the sake of appearances.
“Since Sister said you’re fine, let’s go ride it again.”
“Cough, cough, cough—”
Fu Qingyun put down the water bottle, grabbed Ruan Jiyan’s sleeve as she made to walk away, and shook her head: “No, no, no. How about Big Sister plays another ride with you?”
“Then I want to ride the drop tower.”
Fu Qingyun almost burst into tears. The pirate ship had already nearly killed her. She really couldn’t withstand the torture of this kind of ride.
“The drop tower? Is that fun?”
“I don’t know.”
Ruan Jiyan shook her head. She was someone who dared to jump off a real tall building, yet she hadn’t tried the feeling of a drop tower.
Fu Qingyun had a slight fear of heights. She looked up at the tall drop tower, and her calves started to tremble again.
Ruan Jiyan saw Fu Qingyun’s obvious rejection and didn’t want to force her: “Sister, that’s too high. Let’s go. It looks too scary.”
“Yes, it’s too high.”
Fu Qingyun agreed immediately: “Let’s go, let’s go. I’ll take you to lunch. You must be hungry.”
“Mhm, I am.”
Ruan Jiyan smiled knowingly, seeing Fu Qingyun’s relieved expression.
Next to the restaurant was the haunted house. Fu Qingyun recognized it immediately. During her university years, she had made it her mission to visit all the haunted houses near the university campus, even classifying which ones were fun and which weren’t.
Ruan Jiyan saw Fu Qingyun’s gaze fall on the haunted house and smiled, asking: “Sister, do you want to ride this?”
“It’s all fake. It’s not scary at all.”
“Has Sister ridden it before?”
“Many times.”
Fu Qingyun recalled the time she went to the haunted house with her university roommates. She was always the one pushed to the front. The sudden scares from the NPCs were far less frightening than the screams of her roommates.
The thought made Fu Qingyun smile subconsciously: “I used to play this a lot with my friends. They’d hide behind me, close their eyes, and cling to me. When the NPC came, they ran faster than rabbits. They were more frightening than the ghosts.”
Ruan Jiyan’s face immediately chilled when she heard Fu Qingyun’s words, but it returned to normal in a blink of an eye.
Her friends…
Ruan Jiyan thought about it. These friends of Fu Qingyun shouldn’t be those shady friends. She had already cut ties with everyone else.
The more she thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt. In the days before she met Fu Qingyun, she knew nothing about Fu Qingyun’s past. Seeing the unconscious smile on her face, a hint of darkness flashed in Ruan Jiyan’s eyes.
“Then I want to go in with Sister too. We’ll go after lunch.”
“Sounds good,” Fu Qingyun didn’t know how brave Ruan Jiyan was. She smiled and said, “If you’re scared, just hold onto me tightly from behind.”
Fu Qingyun ordered a burger for Ruan Jiyan. While they were eating, they ran into two familiar faces.
“Hi, Yun’er, why are you two here too?”
Fu Qingyun looked up and saw Lin Lesheng and Xuan Yu. She didn’t know when the two of them had arrived.
“I brought Yanyan out to have fun.”
Ruan Jiyan lowered her head, eating her burger. Today was supposed to be her and Fu Qingyun’s time alone, but now they had two uninvited guests. Even though Ruan Jiyan had eaten with them before, this didn’t stop her from disliking them.
“Sister, I’m done eating.”
Ruan Jiyan quickly finished her burger, then extended her hand to Fu Qingyun in front of the two people.
Xuan Yu and Lin Lesheng hadn’t figured out what was happening when they saw Fu Qingyun unhurriedly take out a tissue and start wiping Ruan Jiyan’s fingers.
Lin Lesheng swallowed a huge dose of public affection, while Xuan Yu showed no extra change in expression.
“Lesheng, let’s go first. We shouldn’t disturb the little couple.”
Xuan Yu said this, then pulled Lin Lesheng away and led her out.
Ruan Jiyan stared at Fu Qingyun’s serious expression as she wiped her hands. Finally, those two were gone. Whenever they appeared near Fu Qingyun, the other woman’s attention was always diverted.
“Sister, I’m full. Let’s go to the haunted house.”
There was a line of people buying tickets to enter the haunted house, almost all of them couples holding hands. Fu Qingyun gripped Ruan Jiyan’s hand, whispering: “Ruan Bao, are you scared?”
The entrance was pitch black. Beside it stood a red bridal sedan chair. A bride in red wedding attire was vaguely sitting inside. It was barely visible from Fu Qingyun’s angle.
“A little.”
“Mhm, I’m here.”
The moment they stepped inside, Fu Qingyun felt Ruan Jiyan’s hand tighten again. She couldn’t see Ruan Jiyan’s expression, but she guessed the other person must be scared.
“Ah—”
A deafening scream rang out. Fu Qingyun frowned. She held Ruan Jiyan’s hand and slowly walked through the long, dark corridor. The next second, her ankle was unexpectedly grabbed by a hand.
“I died so miserably…”
A sorrowful voice echoed. Fu Qingyun expressionlessly covered Ruan Jiyan’s ears, then kicked the NPC on the ground.
“Run!”
The NPC crawled very fast on the ground. It scrambled after Fu Qingyun with all its might, but it only startled another couple who had just entered.
“Clang—”
A violent banging sound echoed in their ears. Fu Qingyun stared at the flimsy iron door, which was stained with dried blood, as if a monster was about to burst through it the next second.
Fu Qingyun looked at the scene and asked Ruan Jiyan in her arms: “Should we let it out?”
“Mhm.”
Ruan Jiyan wasn’t actually scared; she just wanted to hide in Fu Qingyun’s arms and be led by her.
Fu Qingyun acted immediately. She felt for the lock and easily opened the door. A mummy wrapped in bandages rushed out, lunging at the two of them, but accidentally tripped.
“Ouch!”
“Sister, you are so amazing.”
“I know.”
