Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Marked by the Villain (GL) - Chapter 49
“Sister.”
A familiar voice called out in her ear. Fu Qingyun lifted her heavy eyelids. A beam of white light lay before her. She realized where she was.
The distinct smell of hospital disinfectant entered her nostrils. She instinctively tried to pull off the oxygen tube but was gently held back by a soft hand.
“Sister, don’t move.”
Fu Qingyun parted her lips but said nothing. That day, she thought she was going to die. Intense pain spread throughout her limbs. She truly thought she wouldn’t make it back alive.
Ruan Jiyan held Fu Qingyun’s uninjured hand, leaning close and muttering repeatedly: “Sister, you’re fine now. It’s all my fault. I should have gone with you.”
“Silly girl…”
Fu Qingyun listened to Ruan Jiyan’s muffled, self-blaming words. She reached out to stroke her hair, moving her dry lips to say weakly, “If you had gone with me, you would have been in danger too.”
“Yun’er, you’re finally awake! You scared your mother to death.”
Tang Ruowan rushed in, pushing the door open, ready to rush toward Fu Qingyun, but was restrained by Fu Qingyan, who was standing beside her.
“Mom, the doctor said she needs quiet rest. Don’t disturb my sister.”
Tang Ruowan hadn’t slept for two days and two nights, and Fu Qingyun had been unconscious for three days. Fortunately, she managed to make two calls before the accident. If she hadn’t called in time, she might have been gone by now.
From chatting with Ruan Jiyan, Fu Qingyun learned that her right leg was broken and her left arm was dislocated. Her injuries were quite serious, but thankfully, she didn’t hit her head or suffer a concussion.
How ironic. She had warned Song Nanyan repeatedly, yet in the end, she couldn’t escape it herself.
“Sister, I was so scared…”
Ruan Jiyan sobbed, leaning close to Fu Qingyun, blaming herself: “If anything had happened to you, what would I have done…”
“Ruan Bao, be good. Sister is fine. I’m perfectly okay.”
Fu Qingyun weakly comforted Ruan Jiyan. She truly understood what was meant by the saying, “The way of heaven is good reincarnation; the heavens spare no one.” A few days ago, it was Song Nanyan; today, it was Fu Qingyun. It was impossible for this to be a coincidence. It seemed they were being targeted by some force.
Could it be Qiao Yunjin?
Qiao Yunjin had always had a purely business relationship with the Song and Fu families. If this incident really involved her, it meant she had ambitions to take over both the Fu and Song families. Fu Qingyun couldn’t spare the mental energy to think about these things right now. This was something that didn’t concern her temporarily; she would leave it to Fu Qingyan.
The investigation results came out. Fu Qingyun’s car had indeed been tampered with, leading to brake failure. The accident three days ago wasn’t accidental. It seemed the mastermind behind the tampering had originally intended to wipe out both her and Ruan Jiyan, but his wish couldn’t be granted.
“Sister, you should sleep for a while. The doctor said there might be side effects and wants to observe you for a few days before you can be discharged.”
Fu Qingyun looked at Ruan Jiyan’s face and suddenly remembered something: “Ruan Bao, did anyone touch the bag in my car?”
“No. I took it.”
Ruan Jiyan asked curiously: “Sister, was there anything important inside?”
“Nothing.”
Fu Qingyun shook her head. It seemed Ruan Jiyan hadn’t discovered the photos inside yet. She didn’t want the other person to know about the photos for now. The reason was simply that she didn’t want Ruan Jiyan to worry. Ruan Jiyan needed to focus all her energy on her studies. This kind of problem could be handled by Fu Qingyun.
“I’m tired. I’m going to sleep now.”
Fu Qingyun’s head was spinning, and her mouth was dry. Ruan Jiyan thoughtfully used a cotton swab dipped in water to moisten her lips: “Sister, don’t worry so much. Go to sleep.”
“Mhm.”
Fu Qingyun’s voice was heavy with nasal congestion. She quickly drifted off to sleep. Ruan Jiyan wiped away her tears after Fu Qingyun fell asleep. She picked up her handbag and walked into the restroom. A pale, drawn face was reflected in the mirror.
She unzipped the handbag. Inside was Fu Qingyun’s envelope. Ruan Jiyan opened it and, as expected, found a few photos of herself, reminding her of the chaos of the night she and Fu Qingyun spent together.
Almost half a month passed since Fu Qingyun’s car accident. Ruan Jiyan was incredibly busy. She had to devote most of her time and energy to caring for Fu Qingyun and Yu Minjun, and she was also busy preparing for her final exams.
“Ruan Bao, we have servants at home. You don’t have to do this.”
Fu Qingyun’s minor bumps and bruises had healed, but the cast on her leg hadn’t been removed yet. She couldn’t move and had to be physically carried—meaning Ruan Jiyan personally carried her to the restroom to handle her needs. Even during meals, Ruan Jiyan had to feed Fu Qingyun bite by bite.
“Ruan Bao…”
Fu Qingyun was chewing a small bite of salmon as she spoke: “You don’t have to do this for me… mmm…”
Ruan Jiyan continued to block Fu Qingyun’s lips with fruit juice, taking out a tissue to wipe the corners of her mouth: “No. I don’t trust them to take care of you. I can only feel at ease if I’m watching over you.”
“I’m wasting your time.”
“Sister, don’t say that. Without you, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Just consider this my way of repaying you.”
Hearing Ruan Jiyan’s words, Fu Qingyun chuckled: “Repay me? If you truly want to repay me, then give yourself to me completely.”
“When your leg gets better…”
Ruan Jiyan spoke and then met Fu Qingyun’s deeply affectionate eyes: “Actually, I can repay you right now.”
Fu Qingyun reached out her right hand and hooked Ruan Jiyan’s small chin, smiling meaningfully: “Hurry and eat. After we eat, we’re going to the bedroom.”
Openly engaging in passion during the day wasn’t ideal, but Ruan Jiyan loved the atmosphere of doing so in broad daylight. The two of them particularly liked to do it with the bedroom door slightly ajar, as the chance of being caught provided a physical and mental thrill.
After lunch, Ruan Jiyan eagerly picked up Fu Qingyun. She gently placed her on the large bed and used a stand to suspend Fu Qingyun’s injured leg.
“No need to take off your clothes.”
Fu Qingyun saw Ruan Jiyan’s impatient look as she hurriedly unbuttoned her shirt and smiled: “Just get on top.”
“No,” Ruan Jiyan refused. Her hands moved swiftly and deftly. She hadn’t been intimate with Fu Qingyun for over half a month, and now her desire was completely unrestrained: “I want to see.”
Ruan Jiyan’s tone was undeniable. Fu Qingyun smiled helplessly: “Take them off. You can do whatever you want.”
Fu Qingyun looked up at Ruan Jiyan above her. The other woman’s entire face was flushed like a sunset, tempting and moving. Fu Qingyun longed to crush her into her bones and blood.
“Ruan Bao, hold on tight. What if you break my nose…”
The rose-like delicate lips sank into a moist swamp. Before long, the swamp was conquered, and petals covered with sweet dew blossomed.
Fu Qingyun navigated the moment with ease, gathering all the dew, leaving the fragrance on her lips.
“Are you still mad at me?”
Ruan Jiyan lay next to Fu Qingyun, her back to her, silently. In reality, she was ecstatic.
“You bit me! And it hurt so much!”
“You almost broke my perfect nose.”
Ruan Jiyan suppressed her laughter and continued to speak in a muffled voice: “If you hadn’t bit so hard, I wouldn’t have… wouldn’t have done that…”
“I’m sorry, Ruan Bao. Big Sister didn’t mean it. Please turn over and flip me. Lying flat is uncomfortable for Big Sister.”
The thing Ruan Jiyan couldn’t resist the most was Fu Qingyun calling herself “Sister” in front of her. The other woman didn’t often act childishly, but the moment she asked for something in a soft, gentle voice, Ruan Jiyan completely melted.
“Sister…”
Ruan Jiyan dutifully climbed up. Fu Qingyun had served her well earlier; now it was her turn to perform.
“Sister, let me rub your waist.”
“No, you lie down. I’ll rub yours. Your waist must be sore from earlier.”
Ruan Jiyan obediently rested her head on Fu Qingyun’s chest, allowing the other woman’s hands to gently massage and knead her waist: “Is that comfortable?”
“Mhm.”
Lin Lesheng walked in and saw this exact scene. She was holding a bouquet of flowers. Seeing the two people lying together, half-dressed, she immediately blushed, dropped the flowers, and rushed out the door.
Fu Qingyun hugged Ruan Jiyan and said earnestly: “It seems we still need to remember to close the door afterward.”
Xuan Yu hadn’t come today. She excused herself, claiming she was accompanying her patient at the hospital, but in reality, she was afraid to face Fu Qingyun. It was all her fault. If she hadn’t met Qiao Yunjin, such an embarrassing situation wouldn’t have arisen between the three of them.
“Why are you alone? Where is Xuan Yu?”
“Xuan Yu is with Auntie. She couldn’t make it today, so I brought her blessings instead.”
Lin Lesheng placed the bouquet in the vase on Fu Qingyun’s bedside table. The two chatted back and forth while Ruan Jiyan sat quietly by the side.
“Sister, I have class this afternoon. I’m leaving soon. Remember to eat more fruit and drink plenty of water. I’ll check on you when I return.”
Ruan Jiyan deliberately said this in front of Lin Lesheng, then put on her jacket and left.
“Yun’er, you really are henpecked.”
“Mhm, are you jealous?”
Fu Qingyun took the banana Lin Lesheng peeled for her and smiled: “I used to be a very disciplined person. Now, I’m even more disciplined.”
“It’s good to have someone manage you, unlike me. I’m alone all the time. Xuan Yu used to attend class with me, but on weekends, she disappears. She’s probably with her girlfriend.”
Girlfriend…
Fu Qingyun’s smile gradually froze. It seemed Lin Lesheng still didn’t know the relationship between Xuan Yu and Qiao Yunjin and thought they were in a normal relationship.
“Did you manage to woo Zhou Wan?”
“No.”
Lin Lesheng shook her head: “I haven’t seen much of her lately. She’s probably studying for finals.”
“I really envy you. You’re living the life I want in your early twenties—house, car, and a girlfriend,” Lin Lesheng sighed dramatically: “Aww, your banana is about to break. Eat it quickly!”
“To woo someone, you have to be persistent. You’re working one day and resting for two. How can she feel your sincerity?”
Lin Lesheng scratched her head: “I feel like all your ideas are terrible.”
Fu Qingyun took the banana peel and stuffed it into Lin Lesheng’s hand: “Then go find Baidu. Don’t come to me.”
Ruan Jiyan was driven to the Imperial University gate by a driver. After the car drove away, she continued walking forward, eventually stopping in front of a black sedan.
The car window slowly lowered, revealing a face Ruan Jiyan would never forget. She smiled faintly at the person inside:
“CEO Qiao.”
