A Fishing-Type Omega Always Wants to Possess Me - Chapter 4
Joyce hadn’t even reached the entrance of the store before two tall female bodyguards stopped her.
“Zhi Zhi!” Joyce shouted in somewhat awkward Mandarin, her expression full of excitement. “Is that Zhi Zhi?”
Gu Wanlan frowned and waved her hand. A bodyguard stepped forward, his tone still polite. “I’m sorry, today is Miss Jiang’s private schedule. She is not available for disturbances.”
“It really is Zhi Zhi!” Joyce clutched her phone, her voice cracking with excitement. “I just want to see her up close. I won’t disturb you, I promise!”
Gu Wanlan, worried that Jiang Zhi would be unhappy, was about to personally step forward to send her away. But before she could, she heard a familiar voice.
“Mianzhou?” The polite expression on Gu Wanlan’s face froze for a second.
The moment the name was spoken, both Jiang Zhi inside the store and the staff turned to look.
Yu Mianzhou noticed that both of them had seen her and let out a silent sigh. She stepped forward. “Miss Gu, what a coincidence. I didn’t expect to run into you here.”
She knew Gu Wanlan and Jiang Zhi were coming to pick out wedding dresses again today, but she hadn’t expected to encounter them so coincidentally.
If she had known, she would never have agreed to Joyce’s request to come inside.
Seeing that Joyce had come with Yu Mianzhou, Gu Wanlan’s gaze shifted back and forth between them before she quickly understood. She asked, “This must be your… girlfriend?”
The moment the question was asked, the flow of air in the room seemed to slow down.
A soft, fruity fragrance began to spread.
Yu Mianzhou never once looked inside the wedding dress store.
“Yes,” she answered calmly.
The instant the word left her mouth, the sweet lychee scent in the air suddenly turned cold.
The sweetness was heavily suppressed, replaced by a cool pinewood aroma mixed with a faint burning sensation, like scorched plants.
As an S-class Alpha, Gu Wanlan was extremely sensitive to changes in an Omega’s pheromones.
She subconsciously glanced at Jiang Zhi.
Just as she began to feel something was off, Yu Mianzhou spoke again to explain, “She’s just a fan of Sister Jiang Zhi, not a stalker. I picked her up from the airport and brought her here for a meal. I didn’t expect you to be here too.”
By now, Joyce had also understood the situation.
“You actually know Jiang Zhi?!” She widened her eyes and looked at Yu Mianzhou in disbelief. “Why have you never told me?”
If she had known earlier, she could have gotten Jiang Zhi’s autograph long ago!
Since this was Yu Mianzhou’s girlfriend, Gu Wanlan signaled the bodyguards to let Joyce go and smiled. “Mianzhou didn’t tell you? Jiang Zhi is her sister.”
Joyce glanced at Yu Mianzhou’s expressionless face and shook her head.
She knew Yu Mianzhou had many secrets. Was this just one more of them?
As they spoke, Jiang Zhi, with the help of a store assistant, lifted the hem of her dress and walked out slowly.
“Is this Mianzhou’s friend? Nice to meet you.” Her eyes curved gently, her voice soft and graceful, her smile light and elegant.
Gu Wanlan looked at the gentle Jiang Zhi, and the pleasant lychee scent in the air became sweet and soft again. She assumed she had been overthinking it earlier.
“Yes! My name is Joyce! Oh my god, Jiang Zhi, you look a thousand times more beautiful in person than in videos!” Joyce seized the moment to introduce herself to her idol. Opportunities like this were rare.
Jiang Zhi had always been kind to her fans.
She took a photo with Joyce as requested, then smiled with curved eyes and said, “I haven’t chosen my wedding dress yet. Could you please not post this photo on social media?”
Joyce was completely captivated by her idol. Her cheeks flushed with excitement as she nodded eagerly. “Of course!”
With Yu Mianzhou’s connection, she felt there would be many more opportunities to take photos with Jiang Zhi in the future!
“It’s just about lunchtime,” Gu Wanlan said with a smile once the atmosphere eased. “Mianzhou meimei, why don’t you bring your girlfriend and join us for a meal?”
“No need, we—” Yu Mianzhou was about to refuse when a hand suddenly pinched the soft flesh at her waist.
She looked up and saw Joyce’s light blue eyes filled with expectation and pleading.
“Hey Elovin,” she whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear, “I don’t know why you said I’m your girlfriend, but I can help you. You should show some tact, okay?”
Yu Mianzhou had taught her the word “tact,” and now Joyce was using it against her. She felt rather helpless.
Joyce took her silence as agreement and happily lifted her head, only to meet Jiang Zhi’s gaze.
She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination.
But Jiang Zhi’s eyes seemed to linger for a moment on the hand she had placed on Yu Mianzhou’s waist.
That gaze was faint, yet it made her fingertips tingle.
For some reason, Joyce withdrew her hand and smiled at Gu Wanlan and Jiang Zhi. “Sure, it would be our honor to eat together.”
Gu Wanlan made the decision and chose a century-old restaurant on the top floor so Joyce could properly experience Chinese cuisine.
She led the way upstairs while Jiang Zhi stayed behind to change out of the wedding dress.
Yu Mianzhou walked behind them and heard a clear, melodious voice from behind: “The hem is too long. Bring me a shorter one…”
She didn’t catch the rest and didn’t bother trying to.
The restaurant was members-only and extremely private.
Gu Wanlan was clearly a regular. She took the menu skillfully, ordered several signature dishes, then smiled at Yu Mianzhou and Joyce across from her. “Mianzhou, Miss Joyce, see what else you’d like.”
“Let me,” Joyce immediately stepped into her role. She looked at the menu and ordered in slightly awkward Mandarin, “This fish soup can be made lighter. No black pepper on the steak sauce — change it to truffle butter. For the after-dinner wine, we’ll have port…”
Gu Wanlan looked slightly surprised, then smiled warmly. “Miss Joyce really understands Mianzhou’s tastes.”
“Of course,” Joyce raised her chin, half showing off and half complaining. “These past few years abroad, I’ve been the one taking care of her. Don’t let Mianzhou’s picky appearance fool you — she actually has no requirements when it comes to food. As long as it fills her stomach, she’s fine. She won’t even bother seasoning anything—”
At that moment, the door of the private room was pushed open.
Jiang Zhi had changed back into the black dress she wore earlier. Her long hair fell over her shoulders, and her red lips were naturally vivid. She looked breathtaking, like a woman who had stepped out of a painting.
She glanced at the people at the table and noticed the harmonious atmosphere.
Her slender fingers brushed across Gu Wanlan’s shoulder as she sat down beside her. “What are you talking about? You all seem so happy.”
“We were saying how good the relationship between Mianzhou and Miss Joyce is,” Gu Wanlan replied with a smile.
With Jiang Zhi present, Joyce became even more talkative. She vividly described, “You don’t know — once I saw Mianzhou finish an entire steak. It looked so delicious. But when I curiously took a bite, oh my god, it had no flavor at all! Not even salt! I still don’t know how she ate it without changing expression.”
These words sounded ordinary yet intimate. To outsiders, they were clear proof of a close relationship.
The dishes arrived quickly. Gu Wanlan was good at taking care of guests and kept providing Joyce with topics to keep the atmosphere lively.
Joyce’s extroverted personality was in full swing. Even with her stumbling Mandarin, she soon chatted enthusiastically with Gu Wanlan.
Yu Mianzhou listened quietly, occasionally replying.
Gu Wanlan sat directly across from her, Joyce was on her left, and Jiang Zhi was on her right.
From time to time, that faint, sweet lychee scent drifted to her nose.
It was very light, yet it seemed to permeate everything.
She felt the gland at the back of her neck begin to tingle, as if tiny electric currents were running through it.
The napkin beside her hand somehow slipped and fell to the floor, landing right next to Jiang Zhi’s leg.
The napkin brushed against Jiang Zhi’s fair, jade-like calf. Under the black dress, her skin looked even softer and more delicate.
Yu Mianzhou bent down to pick it up, deliberately avoiding touching her.
But just as her fingertips were about to reach the napkin, that slender calf suddenly moved and pressed directly against her fingers.
The delicate sensation spread across her fingertips, like stroking white porcelain bathed in moonlight.
It was clearly Jiang Zhi who had moved closer.
Yet Yu Mianzhou could clearly feel a faint tremor coming from beneath that skin.
It was so soft, like a cloud melting into water at the slightest touch.
The cool touch of her fingertips instantly turned burning hot.
Yu Mianzhou understood this body’s reactions better than anyone.
She suddenly looked up.
Jiang Zhi was smiling as she listened to Gu Wanlan speak, looking every bit the elegant and proper young lady of a prestigious family.
As if the person whose legs had gone weak under the table wasn’t her at all.
Yu Mianzhou withdrew her hand and casually handed the picked-up napkin to the nearby server.
After chatting for a while, Gu Wanlan finally noticed that Jiang Zhi had barely touched her chopsticks. She proactively picked up a piece of Iberian ham and moved to put it in Jiang Zhi’s bowl.
“She doesn’t eat mango.” Just as it was about to be placed down, Yu Mianzhou grabbed Gu Wanlan’s wrist.
Gu Wanlan froze. Only then did she notice a slice of golden mango underneath the ham.
Almost at the same time, she and Joyce both looked at Yu Mianzhou.
Only after meeting their gazes did Yu Mianzhou realize what she had done.
She furrowed her brows slightly and let go. “Sorry.”
It had been a purely instinctive reaction.
On second thought, as Jiang Zhi’s nominal younger sister, it was normal for her to know about her allergy history.
“I should be the one apologizing,” as expected, Gu Wanlan didn’t overthink it and instead looked a little remorseful. “Sorry, Zhi Zhi. I still don’t know enough abou—”
Jiang Zhi suddenly smiled.
The smile reached her eyes. She reached out, held Gu Wanlan’s wrist that was still hovering in the air, and guided it forward. Slightly parting her lips, she bit down on the ham along with the mango.
“It’s fine,” she said softly. “I’m no longer allergic.”
The juice made her lips look moist and glossy, carrying an indescribable allure.
Yu Mianzhou tugged at the corner of her mouth and said nothing more.
Even Joyce, as slow as she was, vaguely sensed that the atmosphere at the table had changed.
The latter half of the meal passed somewhat awkwardly.
After leaving the restaurant, Joyce reluctantly said goodbye to Jiang Zhi. “Zhi Zhi, I have to go now. I hope we can meet again soon.”
Gu Wanlan smiled. “We might see each other again tonight at the Jiang house.”
Only then did Joyce learn that Yu Mianzhou was planning to bring her back to the Jiang family!
Although she really wanted to see Jiang Zhi again, she blinked her large eyes and said to Yu Mianzhou, “Sorry, darling. Although I’d love to go back with you, I’m busy today. I have to meet a few good friends. You should have told me earlier…”
“Where are you going?” Yu Mianzhou didn’t mind. “I’ll drive you. We can talk about meeting them in a couple of days.”
After saying goodbye to Gu Wanlan, Yu Mianzhou left with Joyce.
Once the two had left, Gu Wanlan stood on the side of the street, still replaying the intimate interactions between Yu Mianzhou and Joyce in her mind.
Could she and Jiang Zhi be like that too?
Remembering the gentle, lingering smile Jiang Zhi had given her when she ate the ham, Gu Wanlan felt a strange sense of confidence.
She reached out, wanting to hold Jiang Zhi’s hand.
Before her fingertips could touch her, Jiang Zhi suddenly pulled her hand back.
Gu Wanlan’s hand froze in mid-air.
Jiang Zhi stared in the direction the Bentley had driven off. She took out a silk handkerchief from her bag and meticulously wiped her hand, not missing a single finger.
She was still smiling, but the smile was completely different from the one at the dining table.
“Gu Wanlan,” her voice was bone-chillingly cold, “what do you think you’re doing?”
Gu Wanlan’s face instantly turned deathly pale.
Before she could react, a handkerchief was thrown at her face. What came first was the sweet, soft lychee scent.
After throwing it, Jiang Zhi didn’t even bother looking at Gu Wanlan again. She turned and walked straight toward the parking lot.
That night, the atmosphere in the Jiang family dining room was so cold it felt like ice shards could fall.
Not only did Joyce not show up, but Gu Wanlan and Jiang Zhi also hadn’t returned.
Yu Shu’s nails nearly dug into the back of Yu Mianzhou’s hand. She lowered her voice urgently, “Where’s your girlfriend? Why didn’t you bring her back?”
Yu Mianzhou acted as if she couldn’t feel the pain and calmly pulled her hand back. “She’s busy today. I’ll bring her back in a couple of days.”
Jiang Yingqiu called over Jiang Zhi’s bodyguard, who whispered something in her ear.
Jiang Yingqiu’s gaze lingered on Yu Mianzhou’s face for a moment before she simply said to Yu Shu, “Let’s eat.”
Only then did Yu Shu breathe a sigh of relief.
After dinner, Jiang Zhi returned home alone.
Jiang Yingqiu looked behind her and her expression darkened. “You came back by yourself?”
Jiang Zhi changed her shoes and replied casually, “What else?”
“What kind of attitude is that?” Jiang Yingqiu placed her teacup down gently. Her expression didn’t change, but the oppressive aura of someone long in power made it hard to breathe. “Have you forgotten all the rules I taught you since childhood?”
Jiang Zhi leaned lazily against the sofa, boneless and indifferent, and smiled. “This is just how I am. Is there something wrong with that, Mother?”
The way she said “Mother” was clearly affectionate and coquettish, yet all the servants in the living room lowered their heads in fear, wishing they could shrink into themselves.
Yu Shu also subconsciously moved closer to Yu Mianzhou.
Yet Jiang Zhi continued to smile with curved eyes, looking completely unconcerned.
Jiang Yingqiu’s face turned terrifyingly dark, but in the end she didn’t punish her by making her kneel in the ancestral hall. She only said coldly, “Since you’re about to get married, I won’t send you to the confinement room. But if you still act like this after marriage, it won’t just be your face that gets lost.”
Jiang Zhi didn’t listen at all. She let out a light laugh and went upstairs.
Ten minutes after Jiang Zhi went upstairs, Yu Mianzhou stood up, said goodnight to Jiang Yingqiu and Yu Shu, and returned to her room.
After taking a shower, she came out with a body full of steam.
There was an extra person in her room.
Jiang Zhi, who should have been in her own room, was now lying on her bed, propped up on her chin while flipping through one of her books. Her slender, lustrous calves swayed gently in the air.
Yu Mianzhou stood in place, her gaze unconsciously drifting downward.
The light-colored nightgown clung softly to the woman’s waistline, like a layer of hazy cicada wings, perfectly outlining her exquisite curves.
Her breathing tightened imperceptibly.
Yu Mianzhou looked away, glanced at her still perfectly intact door lock, and sat down at the desk to blow-dry the damp ends of her hair.
Before she could turn on the hairdryer, a soft body slipped through her arms and sat directly on her lap.
The soft buttocks pressed almost seamlessly against the root of her thigh.
A long-missed sensation.
The woman raised a hand to brush aside her hair, exposing her fragile and sensitive nape right in front of Yu Mianzhou.
She spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world:
“Help me apply the medicine.”
