A Scum Alpha Tool Character's Code of Conduct - Chapter 9
The director’s words immediately drew everyone’s attention to An Lingqing.
Wen Jiao also looked over, a hint of anticipation in her gaze that even she herself didn’t notice.
“So I’m the first one? For the first time I feel my name isn’t that nice.”
An Lingqing looked helplessly at the camera, as if she had been tricked by the production team.
“Before joining the show, we’ve actually met each other at various events in the industry. But this wilderness survival show is what really brought us all together.”
“First, let me talk about my impression of Lan Yi. Everyone knows that although we don’t work in the same field, we’re relatively familiar with each other. My deepest impression of her is—beauty!”
An Lingqing gave Zhang Lanyi a playful smile.
“Lan Yi, don’t think that just calling you ‘beautiful’ is too little. That’s actually the highest praise for someone’s appearance.”
Zhang Lanyi naturally didn’t miss the chance, striking a confident pose for the camera.
“Thank you for the compliment, Lingqing!”
She smiled brightly, looking even more charming.
“My impression of Senior An Tianlang is probably—steadiness.”
An Lingqing’s tone was consistently respectful.
“I basically grew up watching Senior’s works, so I don’t know much about his life outside of acting.”
This cleverly phrased response caught An Tianlang off guard, who had been waiting for a chance to exchange meaningful glances with her.
Calling him “senior” clearly placed him in an elder role; any lingering affectionate gazes would now seem inappropriate.
But as expected of an actor, although the romantic tone faded, a trace of hurt appeared in his expression.
“Why is Zhang Lanyi considered a peer, but I sound like a senior instead?”
An Tianlang asked with a smile.
Zhang Lanyi glanced at An Lingqing, then at Wen Jiao beside her, who was slightly frowning, and said:
“Well, you debuted earlier, and more importantly—I’m younger.”
With that, An Lingqing smoothly moved on and began describing her impression of Qi Yujie.
“Very lively, basically the mood maker of the group.”
Wen Jiao, watching her inconsistent words, wondered how someone like him could be called a “mood maker”—was it because he made everyone awkward while trying to be funny?
“As for Su Ze, probably… quite handsome.”
She gave a perfunctory answer; she couldn’t think of a better description for someone constantly trying to pair up with her for a CP storyline.
Handsome?
Wen Jiao studied Su Ze carefully. Honestly, his “handsome” only existed in his fans’ imagination.
“My impression of Miss Wen is—”
An Lingqing finally turned toward Wen Jiao, her gaze flickering for a moment.
“Everyone can just call me Wen Jiao.”
Wen Jiao said:
“‘Miss Wen’ sounds too distant.”
An Lingqing looked at her with focused eyes, as if the words were meant only for her.
She withdrew her gaze and smiled.
“Alright, then my impression of Wen Jiao is—cold and aloof.”
Cold and aloof.
Wen Jiao silently repeated those two words, lowering her eyes. Her already expressionless face became even colder, as if she were embodying the label completely.
“Since An Lingqing has finished her impressions, let’s move on to the next key question,” the director’s voice continued through the loudspeaker. “Among the people present, who do you have the highest favorability toward?”
An Lingqing remained calm and walked over to Zhang Lanyi, holding her hand warmly.
“Do I even need to answer? Of course my highest favorability is toward the beautiful lady.”
Zhang Lanyi cooperated by putting an arm around her shoulder.
Wen Jiao looked at this scene and suddenly felt that this was how things were supposed to go.
She was just a cannon fodder character, now a tool meant to boost the female lead’s popularity. Why had she thought she could step into the female lead’s emotional world?
She quietly looked at the sea, sitting alone without emotion.
An Lingqing glanced toward her briefly but only saw Wen Jiao’s cold profile.
“Now it’s time for our only civilian participant, Wen Jiao. Before you answer the main question, let us first ask—why did you join this show?”
Perhaps to please the investor, the director decided to give Wen Jiao more screen time.
“Because I thought this kind of show might be interesting.”
Wen Jiao cooperated.
However, the answer had no explosive effect.
“As for impressions of the guests—”
Wen Jiao first looked at An Lingqing:
“An Lingqing is as graceful as a flower emerging from clear water. She lives up to her name; her personality is also very good.”
Though it was praise, An Lingqing didn’t feel comfortable hearing it. She sensed that Wen Jiao, too, had put on a mask when speaking to her.
“As for Actor An’s acting skills, they’re quite good. I’m not sure if his last role had too many romance scenes, but he seems emotionally involved no matter who he looks at.”
The director nearly jumped out of his seat upon hearing this.
He immediately signaled the cameras to zoom in on An Tianlang’s face, capturing the subtle stiffness in detail.
“As for Qi Yujie, he’s quite lively. A bit talkative, but he keeps things energetic, which is fine.”
Wen Jiao’s “energetic” clearly carried a subtle undertone, though she didn’t realize it.
“As for Zhang Lanyi—”
Zhang Lanyi tensed slightly.
“She is indeed very beautiful. A bit lazy at first, but later she also participated in the work.”
“As for Su Ze…”
Wen Jiao paused. She didn’t really have an impression of him, so she repeated An Lingqing’s words:
“Pretty good-looking, I guess.”
That “I guess” made the praise sound uncertain.
After her remarks, the director was already thinking about how much controversy this episode would generate.
“Now, Wen Jiao, who do you have the highest favorability toward?”
Everyone waited eagerly.
Wen Jiao answered:
“I’m not familiar with everyone yet, so I don’t really have high favorability toward anyone.”
The atmosphere instantly dropped below freezing point.
The director quickly tried to smooth things over, saying everyone would get familiar over time.
Then came the next segment: resource allocation.
Three knives, one water bottle per person, and one emergency signal flare per person.
The main issue became how to distribute the knives.
“Since they’re knives, let the Alphas handle them. We can protect everyone’s safety.”
Su Ze said confidently.
An Tianlang did not object.
Qi Yujie hesitated but stayed silent.
Then Wen Jiao spoke:
“This is unfair.”
She explained calmly that danger in the jungle is not determined by gender, and ideally everyone should have a knife. Since that wasn’t possible, a fairer method was needed.
An Lingqing was surprised. She had thought Wen Jiao would stay silent since she was the one benefiting from the Alpha advantage.
“I agree,” An Lingqing said. “I also want to compete for it.”
Su Ze insisted that Omegas didn’t need knives and that Alphas would protect them.
Wen Jiao glanced at him, unimpressed.
No one supported him.
Only then did Su Ze realize he was being ignored, and his expression darkened.
