A Scummy Alpha Supporting Character Accidentally Marks the Heroine After Transmigrating into a Book (GL) - Chapter 60
Yan Nanjue swiped her key card to open the door of the Presidential Suite.
The booming sound of a video game echoed from the living room. She took a few steps inside; as expected, it was Ji Ziyi playing. Yan Nanjue walked closer and realized Ji Ziyi had actually connected her phone to the surround-sound system. No wonder it was so loud.
Ji Ziyi was dressed casually, her long hair tied back in a messy bunch with a hair tie, curly strands covering her neck. She looked completely at ease, without a shred of self-consciousness about being in someone else’s room. Wearing a loose top and shorts, her legs were propped high up on the back of the opposite sofa. She was leaned back against a pile of three cushions, focused on her phone.
“Are you treating this like your own room?”
Ji Ziyi kept her eyes glued to the screen. Only after the “Victory” icon popped up did she turn off the game and leap up from the sofa. The sunglasses on top of her head slid down over her eyes; the oversized frame sat on her high-contoured face, sliding down the bridge of her nose as she tilted her head.
“This humble servant welcomes President Yan’s arrival.” She waved a hand and gave a clumsy, mock-gentlemanly bow.
“You got here fast.” Yan Nanjue swept her gaze over the messy sofa. Ji Ziyi looked back at her with an unashamed smile.
“I was boarding my flight when you messaged me,” she said.
Ji Ziyi put on a look of mock realization. “No wonder you’re here so early.”
Lin Furuo walked in through the door behind them, greeted Ji Ziyi, arranged the luggage, and then left for her own room.
Ji Ziyi’s phone was still connected to the speakers, and the “Victory” sound effect continued to loop in the living room. She reached up and hooked off her sunglasses—a simple action that somehow looked effortlessly flirtatious when she did it. Without the distraction of formal attire, her face was even more captivating.
“Wanjun won’t be here until this afternoon.”
Yan Nanjue glanced at her loose T-shirt. “Our Young Master Ji is rarely seen in such minimalism.” She gave Ji Ziyi a sidelong look. “What, no ladies or girls you want to hook here?”
Ji Ziyi gave a dry laugh. “Give me a break. I’m not the type to jump from one relationship straight into another. Besides, I came here to clear my head, so comfort comes first. I didn’t even bring a proper pair of heels; it’s all slippers.”
Yan Nanjue felt a bit of admiration for Ji Ziyi.
[System: Why the admiration?]
Yan Nanjue replied without thinking: “She’s very free-spirited. Like the wind on a cloudy day, blowing wherever it wants without restraint. You never know her next move.”
Ji Ziyi was the person who cared the least about others’ opinions. She could dress up to the nines to please herself, or she could live lazily and comfortably. She did whatever she wanted in every aspect of life. This included her relationships; when she liked someone, she gave everything to pursue them, and when she didn’t, she could part ways cleanly.
[System: That’s true.]
Yan Nanjue added: “Her relaxed aura is the most attractive thing about her.”
Ji Ziyi reached out to drape an arm over her shoulder. “Ordering food? I’m a bit hungry.”
Yan Nanjue dodged her hand. “Didn’t you just get back from the restaurant?”
“Tsk, I can’t even touch you now? What are you, a porcelain doll? One touch and you’ll leave a mark?” Ji Ziyi grumbled with a slight squint of her eyes. “I lost my appetite at the restaurant.”
“Lately, I keep feeling like someone is spying on me. That feeling… it makes me really uncomfortable.”
Yan Nanjue gave her a strange look. This wasn’t in the original book. Where did this interlude come from? The original book only briefly mentioned Ji Ziyi’s ending in the mid-to-late stages: after the Yan Group went bankrupt and A-City’s social circles were purged, and after losing two childhood friends in succession, Ji Ziyi became a recluse, eventually never showing her face in public—even Chen Wanjun rarely saw her.
Yan Nanjue stole a glance at her. As a non-essential character, having any ending at all was already lucky; she simply didn’t have much screen time.
Ji Ziyi rubbed her pointed chin. “And the feeling is very familiar. Familiar enough to be annoying.”
A name floated into Yan Nanjue’s mind. “Maybe it’s one of your romantic debts.”
Ji Ziyi was left speechless. “That… is actually possible.” She thought for a few seconds but couldn’t pick a specific name from her many past flings, so she gave up. “Anyway, I didn’t cheat and I don’t have a guilty conscience, and I certainly don’t go back to old flames. If they want to spy, let them spy.”
“Let’s get some food first. I went out to sea early this morning and haven’t eaten a thing.” As she spoke, she familiarized herself with the hotel service tablet. “What are you having?”
Yan Nanjue stepped into the master bedroom, unbuttoning her shirt with one hand as she walked. She said casually, “Whatever you’re having.”
“By the way, Wanjun said she wants seafood. There’s a seafood place nearby with a unique flavor. Will you grace us with your presence?” Ji Ziyi’s voice drifted in through the half-open door. The hotel’s superior soundproofing made her words slightly muffled.
Yan Nanjue’s ears caught a specific word. She paused. Seafood! I love seafood too!
“You guys pick the place. Time… tomorrow. I’m busy today.”
She took off her shirt, revealing exquisite lines at her shoulders and neck. Her arms were straight, and her status as an Alpha gave them a layer of beautiful, lean muscle that shifted under her skin as she moved, with faint veins visible against her snow-white flesh. The curves of her neck, the tone in her arms, and the rise of her chest—everything was perfectly balanced.
Without a doubt, it was a very attractive body.
Her curly hair rested in the hollow of her collarbone. Yan Nanjue hooked it with her fingertips and gathered it all to one side.
By the time she finished changing and walked out, Ji Ziyi had already ordered and was lying back in her spot, looking at her phone. Seeing Yan Nanjue’s outfit, she looked away from the screen. “Whoa, President Yan, your fashion sense has improved.”
Yan Nanjue looked at her reflection. This outfit was chosen by the System. A low-saturation light blue sleeveless turtleneck paired with solid-colored loose trousers. It exposed a small, slender, slightly concave section of her lower back. Her skin was as white and radiant as fresh snow. A silver waist chain was fastened across the exposed skin, adding an indescribable touch of sensuality.
[System: Pretty, right? My taste is never wrong.]
Yan Nanjue nodded internally. “Very pretty!”
The System gave a self-satisfied “hmpf.” [And yet you didn’t believe me earlier.]
While they talked, the meal Ji Ziyi ordered arrived. Yan Nanjue wasn’t hungry; she took a few bites, set down her chopsticks, and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window with her arms crossed.
Outside was an endless sea, the surface shimmering with light—a world of overwhelming blue. This sea was known as the “Galaxy on Earth”; it was so beautiful it was hard to look away, whether by day or night.
What is Bai Wan doing right now?
Yan Nanjue pulled out her phone, intending to ask Assistant Lin, but her finger hovered over the metal frame in hesitation. A report from Assistant Lin arrived just then: Bai Wan had been pulled out shopping by a close colleague and wasn’t at the hotel.
Yan Nanjue looked at the photos sent over. Although Bai Wan’s expression was flat, she didn’t look impatient. The heart that had been hanging in Yan Nanjue’s chest finally settled. There was a group dinner tonight; she planned to make her appearance then.
Chen Wanjun arrived quite late, knocking on the door just as the sun was setting. Seeing Yan Nanjue’s outfit, she complimented her: “Better than the usual cookie-cutter stuff. Did you pick this for her?” She directed the last part to Ji Ziyi.
The latter shook her head, swinging her legs while tapping her screen. “President Yan’s aesthetic has made huge strides. Finally, it’s not just black, white, and gray.”
“Let’s head out to sea the day after tomorrow? Rent a yacht and cruise around,” Ji Ziyi suggested casually.
Chen Wanjun pressed her fingers to her forehead. “Not lately. My headaches are acting up; being on a boat won’t be comfortable.”
Ji Ziyi looked at the other person in the room. Yan Nanjue also refused. Are you kidding? I didn’t come here to play; I came to watch the heroine! If she went out on a yacht, the heroine would still be on shore.
Ji Ziyi: “Fine, we’ll just hang out by the beach then.” She remembered something and asked, “What are your plans for tonight, President Yan? I’m going to the rooftop bar later; come find Jun-jun and me when you’re done.”
Chen Wanjun asked, “A-Yan, you have business tonight?”
Ji Ziyi stood up and leaned in to make a “hush” gesture. “Can we stop asking people in marriages ‘single-dog’ questions? Just come upstairs with me; she’s too busy to deal with you right now.”
Chen Wanjun’s gaze swept over Yan Nanjue. “A-Yan?”
Ji Ziyi gave a soft laugh. “I told you, she has no time for you. She has to make an appearance at a company dinner tonight.”
Yan Nanjue’s gaze turned cold as she looked at Ji Ziyi’s ambiguous smile, but she didn’t deny it. Chen Wanjun was slightly surprised. So, she was here for Bai Wan again.
Her childhood friend really was…
Ji Ziyi draped an arm over Chen Wanjun and dragged her back to her own room. Yan Nanjue waited until it was nearly time and the sky had darkened before she got up and headed to the restaurant where the Design Department was having their dinner.
Lin Furuo was ordered to walk in front of her. When her iconic face appeared at the door, the noise inside diminished significantly; no one working at the Yan Group failed to recognize the President’s Special Assistant.
When Yan Nanjue’s figure appeared at the entrance, the voices stopped entirely before quickly turning into frantic whispers. Several directors scrambled forward with flattering smiles.
Yan Nanjue’s gaze swept through the room, finding that most prominent face without any effort. Across the crowd, their eyes met. The gaze lasted less than two seconds before they both looked away. At the company, they were strangers—superior and subordinate.
Yan Nanjue was joyfully ushered by the directors to the head table, which was partitioned off by wisteria vines.
Bai Wan withdrew her gaze and unconsciously turned the bracelet on her wrist. An Omega colleague beside her gasped in excitement, whispering, “It’s President Yan! She actually showed up for team-building! Oh my god, Xiao Bai, did you see? Did you see?”
Bai Wan lowered her head slightly. “See what?”
An Yimeng’s voice was full of awe. “That face! An Alpha with top-tier ability and a face that’s even more top-tier… it’s really hard not to like her.”
“Look at that face. If someone told me a superstar was here, I’d believe them. She’s so beautiful, and her outfit is so… did you see her waist chain? Such a sexy accessory… I can’t describe it. Too beautiful, really, too beautiful.” The Omega colleague repeated it several times.
Bai Wan asked, “You like her a lot?”
An Yimeng nodded vigorously. “There are so many fangirls for President Yan in the company. But I heard she’s married. I really want to know who her wife is… being married to President Yan… just thinking about it makes me feel so happy.”
Bai Wan lifted her eyelids and glanced at her, her long lashes trembling almost imperceptibly.
“…Is that so?”
